Was craving something different than American lunch while at Reno and decided to try Tasty Pot. Where it's located, the parking can be full so I had to find parking on the street on a Sunday. We got here right at 11 am and were the first patrons of the day. We ordered basil popcorn chicken, beef hot pot and filet Mignon fried rice. Food was great. Popcorn was not oily and had the right amount of spice. The beef hot soup was full of ingredients and our waiter/host came over to refill our broth. The fried rice was especially tasty. 5 stars for all. Service was excellent and we were checked on frequently. Since it was Sunday, football games were on the tv screen. As always this place is such a great go to, the portions are hearty and affordable, the service is always spot on and the food is very tasty. The space is clean and open and I really loving coming here to stop and grab a bite to eat. A small hidden gem in midtown, our favorite is the schechuan pot is my personal favorite, but you can't go wrong with the Thai or miso pot as well. Yes that is just one dish. No wonder it tastes so good. Crunchy, spicy, savory in the rich broth is something you should try. Shrimp tempura with a spicy dipping sauce is her favorite. This is an excellent appetizer. Fried rice is my absolute favorite and the chicken version here is fabulous and makes an excellent breakfast the next morning! Then there is the tiger boba Let's talk....this is so rich and creamy it should be illegal but thank goodness it's not. Check out the picture, you can gain a pound or so just from the picture. Came to Tasty Pot starving. Anticipating a great and "tasty" meal. Left disappointed. The decor and location was spot on. The concept of having an individual hot pot, rather than the typical, shared hot pot was adorable. Unfortunately I'm not a fan of most all the ingredients that just came in, (no choice), each hot pot. Other than your protein choice of course. I immediately determined I'd not be indulging in hot pot but rather settle for a couple apps. I had calamari and their version of Taiwanese fried chicken. Both were tasty. I also opted to share a Kim chi fried rice and what seemed like a winner dish was actually the worst. The rice was greasy as could be and the rice was crunchy. I imagined the cook scraping it from the sides of the wok. I mean, I was truly shocked that this rice dish was served to us. The sauces offered table side were unanimously applauded. Back to hot pot... broth was not rich nor umami. Faux crab is anathema to my "born in Alaska" esthetic. Not a fan of tendon, fishballs, fried tofu skin and a few other un-discernible items. I imagine this version of hot pot is likely very authentic but like I mentioned, the broth was DOA to start so that was never going to enhance those additional, gratuitous additions. I was most pleased that Tasty pot offers Butterfly Pea Flower tea. I'd have loved a lemon slice but that was not to be had. Most of each hot pot ordered at our table along with the super oily-fried rice were left behind. A couple of people ordered the Habachi plates and both were very dissatisfied with the serving size. I was most disappointed to share such a disappointing review with my Yelp universe. That RARELY happens. But as far as Tasty Pot goes... it was one and done for me. read more

Cant wait to visit again!! They took us last minute, 30 minutes before closing. They were so busy and let us know we'd be the last customers. We quickly ordered the Taiwan Special Hot Pot and the lobster hot pot. Man were the flavors amazing! We chose ramen and we were quickly filled and had our soup fill. We come here at least twice a month, they need to market a bit more to get more feet through the door, some people probably don't understand what it is they're selling, but this is excellent in the colder months, and great in the warmer months when you want to stuff yourself with asian hot soups. I visited on a Saturday midday, and it wasn't very crowded, though I imagine it gets busier later in the day. There is plenty of seating, and the dining area was clean and tidy. Well we had a very bad experience here. My friend is allergic to shellfish and had requested no fish of any kind in her hot pot due to her allergy. Our entrees came and there was fish right there on top. She explained the situation and sent it back. A second hot pot arrived and shortly into eating it she found a hidden clam. Seriously!? Sent it back again and said we would go eat elsewhere. Not sure if the girl didn't understand english very well or what but it is very bad in the food industry to not heed allergies with caution. Also my other 2 friends who also ordered hot pots said they were so spicy they couldn't even finish them. I got hibachi grill chicken, shrimp, and filet mignon and it was very tasty but very small portion. I ordered 3 meats and was expecting leftovers but that was not the case. Did you know that finding Bubble tea after 8pm was hard? I didn't until tonight and it was by sheer luck that I found it at Tasty Pot (open until 9:30 on Fridays and Saturdays, Yay!!) Regular search gave me every bubble tea location imaginable including those that were permanently closed so I had gone to the Thai place at The Sticks which was permanently closed and driving out I saw Tasty Pot has it! They have a decent selection of fruit and milk teas. I didn't eat anything so I can't say anything about the food yet but my passion fruit green tea with popping Lychee Boba was yummy! The food looks great however and I'll definitely be back to try it. They have a nice vibe and the cashier, while very quiet, was very nice. FYI though if you order at the counter, credit tips go to the restaurant not a particular server. I asked. This Tasty Pot is in a great location in Midtown with newer buildings and parking. I had the Seafood Lobster Hot Soup with mild spicy level. For me this was the lowest option I could choose and it was almost still too spicy for me, so might go no spice next time. Despite this, the seafood assortment was plentiful (lobster was great!) and the broth flavor was amazing - definitely something that you can't just whip up to pull that amount of flavor. The baby octopus was a little chewy for my liking so might tell them to hold off on that next time too. The pots are hot with a flame that's ongoing underneath the metal bowl for at least 5-10 minutes, then the flame will fizzle out and your dish will cool down. My friend had a different pot with pork slices which I got to try and the pork was really great too! Perfect spot to warm you up on these cold nights right now. read more

Who doesn't love hot pot on a chilly winter day? After dropping family at the airport, the hubs and I headed here for a spicy treat. We started with veggie tempura, which came with two of each: onion, carrot, broccoli, zucchini. It also had an unusual creamy dipping sauce that was terrific. I ordered the kimchi dumpling hot pot; hubs ordered the Szechuan hot pot. We both got rice noodles. I also had a Thai tea to wash it down, but I should have ordered two because even though I had medium spice, it was quite spicy (and delicious)! The kimchi dumplings are full of flavor and the right ratio of dough to filling. Everything in my bowl was yummy. Hubs said his was very spicy, and he couldn't finish, but luckily, we were able to take his leftovers home to eat later. Highly recommend Tasty Pot for authentic flavors. Note that you may need to request extra napkins (only one per person at the outset). Given the location (Reno,NV) and the weather this particular day. The meal was very much inviting and soo delicious. We enjoyed the #1 & #10 from the soup menu. We liked how the dishes are bout out in a mini hot pot dish still boiling to keep you dish remaining hot during your meal. The combination of meats, noodles, seafood and broth, Oohh man! Perfect dinner at a great price! am a huge fan of hot pots. We tried to come here a couple of times, and it seemed like every time we wanted to eat here, something was going on downtown, horrible parking everything blocked off. Shouldn't be too hard to have some individual serving bottles of wine or saki. We took our time perusing in, since we had not eaten here. Servers checked on us fairly often to see if we were ready. We ordered: Heineken #1beef, hot pot Hibachi mix, grill, filet mignon, and shrimp The hibachi arrived first and since we were quite hungry, we started eating that. The filet mignon was very tender, and we ordered it medium rare, it was medium. However, super tender and taste. The shrimp was perfect. Hibachi grill also has rice and some vegetables, mostly zucchini nicely caramelized. Beef hot pot was good also. I did order it light spice, however, there was no space in it. Luckily there's a caddy assorted spices and flavoring to add to your soup. We also enjoyed the beef hot pot quite a bit. The only thing I can tell you, though, is the vegetables are not cooked all the way and you have to allow the hot pot to boil for a whileto cook the thick end of the Napa cabbage. Since we had our hibachi grill plate, we were able to nibble this until the soup is ready. They have a nice assortment of appetizers, we did not try this evening. We had an absolutely terrible experience here. We came in early on a Saturday night to celebrate our friend's birthday. She was super excited to try this place out. The place seemed clean and was pretty quiet. We were disappointed to learn it was more of a chain than a local restaurant but decided to stick around. We told the waitress when we sat down that she had a shellfish allergy. She chose a beef based pot and specifically asked for all seafood to be left out based on an allergy. When her food came out, we double checked with the waitress that there was no seafood in it - they confirmed we were good to go. We look at it - imitation crab right on top (sometimes made with shrimp). We talk to the waitress and reconfirm that we need to dish with no seafood. They confirm that it can be done. They bring out the second pot and it looked better - back in business! A few bites in - a clam turns up. Our friend had to take a Benadryl, we talked to the staff again, paid the check and left - the majority of our food untouched and unfinished. Two of us had the kimchi dumpling pot with mild heat and it was pretty unbearable - so hot and not enjoyable. The sauces were also mislabeled at our table leading to one of our friends getting a chili sauce instead of a soy garlic sauce. This was just an awful experience and I hope they can be more upfront with people in the future if they're not able to accommodate allergies. I am so glad that we finally have an individual hot pot spot in Reno! I love Boiling Point but the closest one to us is in San Jose so I have been resorting to ordering next day delivery from the Boiling Point delivery service and I am so glad to say that Tasty Pot is filling that void that has been here! I no longer have to order hot pot from California! My first experience was getting take out and let me say, I was so impressed with how everything was packaged. The hot pot comes in a very nice and sturdy bowl and the soup was still hot when it was delivered that the vermicelli noodles were still able to cook in it! My second experience was actually at the restaurant and I felt like I was in a hot pot spot in California and it made me extremely happy. It was everything I was looking for and expected out of an individual hot pot spot. Each hot pot comes with its own enclosed flame and there are sauces available on the table. There are 4 sauces and I love mixing them all together and dipping all of the goodies into it. I love the variety of items that come in the pot and everything is so tasty in it. The appetizers are so good, the popcorn chicken and calamari remind me of a boba shop and it brings me so much joy. The Vietnamese coffee is also excellent and I will definitely be back for more. I was so excited for Tasty Pot to open and it did not disappoint! I'm a big fan of Boiling Point but the closest one is in California. Like Boiling Point, Tasty Pot is a individual Taiwanese hotpot restaurant but unlike Boiling Point they also offer hibachi. My first time, I ordered delivery and was pleasantly surprised by the packaging. Not only were our soups in spill proof containers, they came piping hot and did not need to be reheated as I had anticipated! My first time at the restaurant a group of three of us went during lunchtime on a weekday and didn't have to wait at all. The place is very spacious and the service is friendly. I ordered the #1 Beef Hot Soup with mild spice and we added fuzhou fishballs for the table as well as the popcorn chicken as an appetizer. I also love that there are a variety of sauces at the table My bowl wasn't too spicy and I'd be comfortable moving up to medium spice next time, but the fuzhou fishballs were a fun addition. Be careful when eating them as they are filled with hot fish roe in the middles! While my friends' bowls were piping hot, mine was struggling to light and the waitress kindly took it and replaced the heating mechanism. They will also add more soup to your bowl if you start running low! The popcorn chicken was hot and crispy and tasted just like at your favorite boba joint. In addition to my meal I also added the passionfruit green tea which was cold, refreshing, and complimented the hot soup wonderfully.
