The soup dumplings were delicious! They were huge and packed with the perfect amount of soup inside. Each bite was flavorful and satisfying. My only minor complaint is that I wish the vinegar flavor was a little less prominent so the taste of the filling could shine through more. I also like how they make it fresh in front of you.

The classic pork dumplings were delicious. Leave them on the tray while eating. Tip was to bite off the tip and add the soy sauce to the contents before eating. I thought these were a good value. This was enough to share and definitely enough for one. I want to try the spicy pickles on the next visit.

Fresh made soup dumplings. Typically a 30+ minute wait since they prepare things as they're offered. All in all, their dumplings are descent for Reno standards; however, if you truly eat dumplings, then you'll know that fresh ginger is needed, something they do not offer to accompany their dumplings. My favorite was their classic pork dumplings. Their beef dumplings were a bit dry. Both dumplings were nice and soupy, but some dumplings stuck to the paper and popped where their juices ran out. The skin isn't thick, which is good, but prices are a bit steep at 8 for $15.99. Their cucumber salad was also acceptable although they come in black plastic containers. Having experienced a to go order, they are quite skimpy on handing out silverware and plates. Surprisingly, they initially didn't give any. Then when asked, they only gave 2 when we needed a total of 3.

Finally a handmade dumpling place in town! I loved watching the operation of them stuffing and folding dumplings in the clear glass window. The menu is very small - soup dumplings, steamed dumplings, and cucumbers and cabbage. Wish they had a few offerings for those of us who are gluten free (I.e, Harlow in rice wrappers would be awesome!). But the cucumbers were delicious and the kids loved the dumplings.

This is at the Reno public house. And what a surprise. Food had flavor and tasted fresh. Service was quick and friendly. Def will be back!! The ambiance is the Reno public house

As the local Taiwanese foodie, I feel mildly obligated to vet foods from my region of the world. I'm glad to report that finally we have good handmade dumplings in Reno, in AUTHENTIC Chinese home style. Skin is thicker and chewy, and the meat/broth is satisfying and rich. This isn't the delicate Din Tai Fung style of silky thin dough and elevated Shanghainese cuisine, but it's hearty and fresh and satisfying nonetheless. EDIT: I skimmed some of the other people reviewing the dumplings and felt obligated to point this out: the dough is on the THICC side of things, but this is a regional thing in China especially Northern style. Personally I enjoy many of the variations, but many Americans have differing expectations of soup dumplings due to Din Tai Fung's elevated-Taiwanese style being popularized globally. The soup dumplings I'd give a 4.5/5 (chewy skin, great broth and filling), The chive and shrimps boiled dumplings I'd give a 4/5 (flavors are a bit subdued), And the cucumber appetizer a 3/5 (felt like it soaked the soy sauce for too long and is overly salty, missing some of the crisp). EDIT2: So uh, they really could use the maniacal efficiency of Din Tai Fung -- the dumplings are made-to-order and take 15-20 minutes from order to table... but if there's a line this goes way outta control. There service isn't bad but it's def bottlenecked by the poor guy wrapping everything... +1 because it's the best we got for Reno so far... 5/5 will come again!

Pork soup dumplings. Excellent. They are gushers, no squirters!

The line needed a little sweep, with one person log jammed at the register, but the staff is friendly and helpful. Quality is 10/10, hand made and cooked to order, so be prepared for a 20-50 minute wait. This isn't fast food, it's real food that takes a while to steam! They all arrive boiling hot, so poke a hole in the top and wait a good 5-10 minutes to cool before going full honeybadger on them. They all have a good amount of soup inside, and they are gushers, not squirters! The beef was excellent, but the pork soup was our favorite. Scallion was also very good.

Wow, I have been waiting for real dumplings to finally make their way to Reno, and FINALLY we have a promising start. As far as ambiance, I'm not big on Reno Public Market in general, but it was worth it for some soup dumplings. The dumplings themselves had fantastic flavor and texture, the only thing I hope for is that they start serving chili oil as well. They have vinegar, but no chili oil and that's my go to topping everywhere I go. Other thing, I will absolutely be back, but about 30% of our dumplings tore getting them off the paper. I have high hopes that this is just growing pains of the new place and they will lock the dough in soon enough. Go give this place a try, it's a great addition to the Reno food scene.

I really wanted to love this place.. It is located inside Reno Public Marketplace. We ordered the pork dumplings, the beef dumplings and also the shrimp, pork, scallion dumplings. 3 in total. The first section on their menu is steamed dumplings and the next section is boiled. I wish I could say there was a noticeable difference between the two but sadly that was not the case. *Note of caution! The soup dumplings were filled with boiling hot liquid! There was a pocket in each dumpling we had to stab with chopsticks to drain them. Beware before popping one of these bad boys into your mouth. It took 40 mins to receive them. In their defense they are making them to order. All our dumplings had overly thick dough. They were made fresh but overall were lacking flavor.

This is worth the visit to the public market! It is a nice new addition and is absolutely delicious! We had pork and shrimp dumplings, and everything was just so fresh and delicious. We also got the pork soup dumplings which are a MUST! The broth in the dumplings is out of this world! For the soup dumplings, what I like to do is to put the dumpling on a spoon (I will grab it at the top if it is not too hot) and then bite a tiny hole from the bottom side, that way you can suck all the broth out. This way you enjoy the broth before bitting into the dumpling itself. If you just bite into it, you are at risk of losing some of the amazing broth. Additionally I love that you can watch them make the dumplings. Note that it may take them 15-20 minutes to make the dumplings, as it is freshly rolled and steamed upon order.

Very excited I tried these. They're very flavorful and delicious. The broth in the dumpling is perfect. They offer a nice vinegar sauce and chili pepper oil. Overall I would go again.

Had a craving for dumplings. When I walked up to take a look at the menu, I actually saw them in the process of making dumplings! Very cool! Menu is a little limited. I didn't see any chicken dumplings which I would've ordered. Anyways, I ordered the veggie dumplings and they were delicious! They tasted so fresh and they were filled with many veggies!

    Liz S.

Delicious soup dumplings! To be fair I have nothing to compare it to, but I enjoyed the flavor and the sauces as well! My husband got the regular dumplings and I definitely preferred the soup ones instead--the dough was a bit lighter maybe? And the flavor profile was more to my tastes too. But a great addition to RPM!

The Minced Pork Dumplings, however, were not for us. I believe the flavor of the Chinese leek may have been what turned us off. As for the Napoleon, it wasn't very sweet or particularly flavorful, and it made quite a mess to eat. Not something I'd reorder. The Sui Mai was delicious, and I would definitely order it again. This was the winner of our take home feast. While not everything was a hit for us, we'd return for the Sui Mai and BBQ Pork Buns and other explore some other items that we have yet to try.

We sat at the bar so we could peek around the corner into the kitchen and watch them prep and slang these items with such speed and precision. I haven't found many places that serve Khao Soi so I knew I needed to get it. The broth was so rich with a spicy complex flavor and a generous portion of noodles. I got the steamed chicken while my friend got the fried chicken - honestly, we probably could've split it, especially since we got the other dim sum items. The owner is amazing, so friendly and really wants everyone to feel welcome. He knew so many people and it makes me want to be a regular here (too bad I don't live in Reno!) But first, let me tell you he's at the parking lot is large and there's plenty of parking for everyone. This restaurant shares a lot with an el super market and a few other small businesses. When we entered, the gentlemen at the front seemed very flustered. There was one couple who had arrived just before us. They were there to place a to go order. Once we came in and let them know that we were going to be a party of four, the gentleman looked very confused. All of a sudden he didn't seem like he knew where to put us. There were more than enough tables. He initially was going to place in a tiny booth, but we explained that when we go out to eat that we may be a small group, but we order pretty large amounts of food and we like our table space. He got even more confused and flustered. We ordered green beans with chicken. We had pork chops with spicy salt and fried tofu with spicy salt. And because we were feeling slightly intrigued and curious, we ordered a fried eggplant with spicy salt. That fried eggplant was fantastic. It was so lightly fried, even though the batter, we weren't quite sure about because it looked a little heavy. I really like the green beans. They were still crispy and crunchy. To my liking, those were perfectly cooked. I love that. They use a lot of onion and garlic. Nothing was overly salty. The one oopsie that I experienced that was both a shock and a bit of a problem... one of the waiters came to refill my water and somehow he accidentally missed the cup and dumped about a quarter of the picture of water into my purse. Ughhhh. That part wasn't fun but luckily I keep my purse organized where everything is pretty much in pouches. So most things were protected. My wallet did get wet, but luckily it was just water and nothing else.
