A hidden gem in Reno! We love baos and this place actually makes good ones, although a bit small but still very good. We tried the cha siu bao, corn &ham and the pineapple bun. All seemed to have the same base dough where it was super soft and fluffy. The fillings were quite good, super savory and not too sweet for the cha siu. The pineapple topping was more like a thin shortbread and not the usual super crumbly top which is still good. We tried egg tart and it was super small, but the custard is pretty good and the crust was flaky. Overall, a good find for Reno and if you are looking for hk buns and dim sum. Total :$ 18

Pork Buns--fluffy and yummy. Reminds me of the usual bakeries back in the Philippines

As advised i went to this bakery a little early because it could get busy at times. Happy i did! More customers came after i ordered. The place is small, it's the vibe of an Asian bakery back in the 90's in your korean-Taiwanese Netflix renditions of a sleepy small village. They only have one table so prepare to stand while waiting for your orders to heat up. I ordered Siomai they asked if i wanted it steamed and i thought it was nice of them to offer that. You can read newspapers while waiting if you like. Overall, it's a great place to get yummy snacks all throughout the year. You should try it!

The tiny shop off Keystone in an unassuming shopping center is a delight. The buns are fantastic and there's such an amazing variety! I'm not familiar with another bakery like it in the Reno area. We tried 5 items 3 were buns and two cookie/pastry items. Everything was fresh and the warm buns were just amazing! The egg bun was not too sweet and my favorite! The pork bun was second and note they have several savory options! I love that the sweet options are not overly sweet. If you want to be adventurous go try something new! There's enough to try something new daily! See pics ..

Very delicious, fresh buns! I stopped by craving egg tarts, but the real showstoppers were the buns. I especially enjoyed the pineapple red bean bun - the red bean filling was generous, warm, and incredibly fresh. The taro bun had a bit less filling but was still quite good. The red bean pineapple bun was very yummy and something I would definitely come back for. The egg tarts were also pretty good overall. There is also a 3% surcharge for card use, so I definitely recommend bringing cash.

I've been here a few times and I always love the food. My favorite thing to get is the sticky rice. I'm also happy to see that they've added a dim sum combo option because I want a little bit of everything. A ten minute wait and they will steam everything for you. We opted to just eat at the one table available. He provided us with chopsticks and soy sauce and we devoured everything but the moon cakes. We saved them for later because they are quite filling. I will be back to pick up something whenever I'm on this side of town. Only down side was that they were out of curry buns and mushroom buns. FYI - They prefer if you pay with cash.

All this for around $90 Now, if the food was good I wouldn't mind but here's the issue. The ShuMai & shrimp dumplings was ok but very bland. The sticky rice was sad; no meat whatsoever. The pork had so much fat and not sufficient. The buns had barely any filling & the taro rounds were old and tasteless. I mean, he couldn't even put the buns in a nice container & used paper bag knowing it was all to go! Now I don't like to write harsh reviews but when asked for some chili, he gave us 1 for all this to go food! Hubs asked for another!! Even the napkins he gave us 2 pieces ONLY!!! And when asked for mustard... 2 again WTF!!?? Cheap cheap cheap & it shows in the food being tasteless. I tried a sesame ball and even that, the mochi wasn't smooth but it was ok as it was hot & freshly made for the other customer waiting. We had a nice conversation and he offered me and my hubs one. The owner also commented that technically you're not allowed to eat at that table because it gets busy and it's for waiting customers. We were there at 10am on a Monday and there was just 1 man, waiting for his sesame balls (for this Indonesian wife; we had a lovely chat waiting) Oh! And owner didn't even give us the receipt... I'm not sure if he even calculated this correctly. Sadly, this is my first negative review ever but def not $90 worth of food. Improve your customer service skills & don't be so stingy with your ingredients.

Surprised to see an Asian bakery in Reno with good reviews, had to give it a try! Walked in and smelled sooo good. The man behind the counter was very nice and patient. Overall was solid but didn't blow me away. Probably the best spot to get Asian baked goods/dim sum in Reno though. Would be down to go back and try their hot food. Baked pork bun - 4/5 - Bun was mildly sweet and the pork hand a nice salty and peppery taste. Filled on the smaller end. Steamed pork bun - 3/5 - Bun was dry and pork filling seemed less than the baked version. Still good but had better. Shu Mai - 5/5 - Served steamed and juicy. I have to say this was the perfect shu mai, as the flavor of the meat were savory and fresh. Ham & Green Onion Pastry - 4/5 - More bread than filling, although it was moist. Had some sweetness which paired will with the onion and savory ham, Har Gow (Shrimp Dumpling) - 3/5 - The noodle was soft and the shrimp seemed fresh. Milk Bun - 2/5 - I must say it was sweet and tasty although the cream left a very pasty/slimy after taste in my mouth.

Baked Bao with very little meat

I was dying for bbq pork Bao and I found this place yesterday. I was expecting the usual fare at a Chinese bakery. In fact I was happy to find this place. This place is very pricey. My intent was to get a dozen Bao, but considering the price of $16.75 for 6 Bao I had to settle for 6. The bun was soft and tasty, but there was hardly any meat. The pork was minced. I've never had minced pork ever in Bao. And there was hardly no filling. Very disappointed. I probably won't be back. I've never had to write a bad review for a Chinese bakery. This is an exception. I can get a dozen bbq pork Bao in Sac at ABC Bakery for $21.00, that's $1.75 per bun. I'm going to have to do that whenever I'm in Sac.

Complete with Thai background music and a beautiful mural depicting Thai culture. Everything was delicious but I would have to say my favorite dish was the Thai boat noodles! The wontons and the Mongolian beef were the standouts for sure. The fried rice was decent, but it felt a little bland compared to everything else. This isn't authentic Chinese food by any means. The filling was a little bit sweet, and a little bit savory, and the shell was well fried, crispy, and not oily at all. They were offering a BOGO on the combination plate, and so that's what I went for. I had the garlic chicken, and the chicken with seasonal. Veggies. On both dishes, the chicken was moist and tender. The veggies were done well. Just the right consistency, not mushy at all. The taste was great. The only thing I could say, was, the garlic chicken was a bit spicy. About medium on what I like for spice, you could definitely see the red pepper flakes on that food. Unfortunately, nowhere in the menu did it mention the spicy part of it. I did like it, and the spice was within what I like, but I think the next time I would order something else. The fried rice was very well done with a good flavor also. It was just the rice. Not exactly inviting or comfortable. I ordered two of the recommended dishes: Thai Boat Noodles and Garlic Pork with Ginger Coconut Rice. Of the two, the Thai Boat Noodles was the standout it woudl be something I'd order again. The Garlic Pork dish including the rice, though, was a letdown. It tasted okay, nothing memorable. Take a look at the photo of my entrée: it looks sad and unfinished. With so many other great Asian spots both here in Reno and back home in Minden, we won't be back.
