Food: 4/5 Vibes: 4/5 Service: 4/5 I went here with my coworkers on our lunch break and was pleasantly surprised. It's a tasty lunch option that can get you in and out fairly quickly, especially if you only have an hour for lunch. Their pricing for bowls were standard to what I've seen at other poke places in Reno. They have an extensive drink and dessert collection! I loved the indoor seating with all the natural light the space offers! However, they only have indoor seating. The servers were quick and kind, no complaints there! I hope to come back and try more options!

Plate lunch with Kali beef and garlic chicken

A friend of mine recommended going here to give it a try and it did not disappoint. Nice inviting well kept dinning area. Walk up to the counter to order with the friendly staff. They have poke bowls/plates that have all the ingredients in front of you to choose from, that all looked delicious and fresh. Unfortunately, I did not try the poke as I was there for the plate lunch/dinner. It has your traditional 2 scoops of rice, mac salad, and a choice of variety of proteins. I went with kalbi beef which was really good and was a thick piece of meat unlike other places where it's really thin and fatty and I also had the garlic chicken which was super crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. I can't decide which one I liked more since they were both really good and complemented each other perfectly. The mac salad was a little peppery but not overpowering and was still really good. I also had a spam masubi which was so good with the crunchy nori wrapped around spam, rice, and sauce with some furikake seasoning. The portions are a pretty good sized and I had every intention of on only eating half and taking the rest home but I couldn't stop there and ate it all. So good, I wish it was where I live.

Poke, who doesn't enjoy a fresh Hawaiian Style poke bowl? I normally visit the Sparks location since it's closer to my home but this time, we wanted to sit outside and the tables aren't set up for the Sparks location yet. So here we are at the Reno Midtown location. The same owner, same supplier for their ingredients, so I'd expect no less a similar experience. And they did not disappoint! The fish, was smooth and not slimy or smelly. The toppings were fresh as well. Are there other places that have good poke? Sure, but you can't go wrong with Loco Ono.

Great bowls and teriyaki. You order at the counter and add what you'd like to your bowl. Raw fish, crab salad, all the typical fixings. Not a fancy place but good , quick food. We enjoyed our food. It's in a little strip mall. Several tables inside.

Build your own poke bowl with spicy ahi, salmon and scallops, sea weed salad, rice, crab salad (incredible), creamy miso and wasabi yuzu, cucumber, ginger and furikake. At least that's what I did. It was delicious. Fresh with so many options you can have something different each time. Service at the counter will help you make choices and maybe try something new. Plenty of tables inside and parking outside. Right off Virginia put it on your list.

Mochiko fried chicken with white rice n mac, salmon bell taco and a poke bowl

Came back to Loco Ono and had to switch it up this time. I usually get their kalbi and garlic chicken with garlic rice (which is and still my favorite), but I decided to try the mochiko fried chicken. It was good, crispy and flavorful, but honestly I still prefer the garlic chicken way more. That one just hits different. Their poke was solid too, and they give a great serving size. Fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering. I also tried the salmon belly taco and that was really good as well, nice balance and didn't feel too heavy. Overall, it's a solid spot for Hawaiian fast food in Reno. I'll definitely be back... probably for the garlic chicken and kalbi with garlic rice again

This is secretly (or not so secretly) one of my favorite places to eat in town. I love the big flavors, friendly service and the fresh food they serve here, and it's a big bonus that it's also fast, casual and reasonably priced too. I almost always go for the two item mixed plate. My favorite is the Teri beef, but I've been dialing back beef and also love their Teri chicken, mochiko chicken, and so many of the other options too. You really can't go wrong with anything. One plate is almost enough for two meals in my world also, which makes this a real value. Their poke is also super delicious. Their sauces are excellent, toppings and fish super fresh, and overall, a fantastic poke option. But if you're not feeling a BYO Bowl, they'll also fix up a straight pound of that poke goodness in a few styles too! We usually add one of these to our order every time. The tacos are excellent. The saimin slurptastic. You seriously can't go wrong. And next time I'm craving a crispy and juicy fried chicken Sando, I'm coming here too!

Honest take out review: 4/5 amazing flavors! Inconsistency with the oil and no katsu sauce! But that kalbi taco?!? Yes!!! Hear me out... had I gotten the katsu sauce. I think this would have been a 4.5, but the missing sauce allowed for the used oil to come through with the garlic chicken and katsu chicken... I'll drop my thoughts below, give them credit though... they have a "now hiring sign" on the window. Business's without the right support at times struggle with consistency so here's to hoping the notes below come through! Mixed plates: -Grilled teri beef and chicken: 4.5/5 Smokey, and large portions give this meat a strong rating with the dish as it's a delicious combination for the combination of cabbage, rice, and green onion. The sauce however was delicious but missing in the meal... it needed a little more sauce throughout the meal to be able to say that it had that 5/5 we're looking for! Otherwise! Rice cooked deliciously, and a good potato/mac salad! Katsu & garlic chicken: 2.5/5 2.5 is for the flavor as the garlic chicken has so much flavor!! The first bite I took had me wanting to come back for more! Mixed it with the rice and it was absolutely delicious! As I went in for more bites... I noticed that the chicken was over cooked due to the inner chicken being dry and while flavorful. Notes of old oil coming through strongly. For the katsu, we were missing the sauce so we were able to see that the breading was over fried as it was brown and had a strong flavor or burnt oil. Then as we went for more bites of the garlic chicken, the sauce masked a lot of the chicken which was crispy and over cooked. Giving this a 4/5 as the kalbi taco saves the experience! Delicious and just a combination of flavors that's goes so well together! It was jam packed with flavor and food. I would recommend eating it asap as the kimchi wets the tortilla making it harder to eat... but! Deliciousness!

Was in Reno for a work trip and my work team collectively decided on Loco Ono for a lunch delivery. If we're being honest I pushed the team in the direction of poké, and I'm so glad that I did. The food arrived pretty quickly for it being a rather large order, and we were all pleasantly surprised at the portions. Super generous! We all did a build-your-own situation and I was only able to eat half of it. I was trying to force myself to eat more but there was so much! My bowl had a base of white rice, topped with spicy tuna, crab salad, seaweed salad, edamame, cucumber, and spicy sauce. The tuna had a great kick to it and I actually liked that it was ground rather than cubed because it helped mix it all in. Spicy sauce had great flavor. Everything tasted super fresh and hit the spot for lunch! Was nice and refreshing while still being a great portion for a midday meal. I'm not local to Reno but if I was, I'd definitely frequent Loco Ono!

Mixed plate- Kalbi and double chicken Katsu
    Kameron T.

Chicken katsu and the kalbi as a plate was a great call! The katsu was super crispy, but the meat was still moist. Kalbi was just average, most of the meat was really tough and I wish there was more of the sweet flavor. Mac salad is great, and the rice is well cooked! Love the dessert selections! Ube bar is a solid win every time! Staff were nice and enough, restaurant is clean!

I stopped in at LOCO ONO craving something lighter but still satisfying, and it ended up being exactly what I was in the mood for. I ordered the grilled poke bowl along with a pan of mac salad to share. The bowl had a great mix of textures -- warm, perfectly cooked protein layered over fresh toppings and rice that wasn't dried out or clumpy. The grilling added a subtle char that gave everything extra depth without overpowering the natural flavors. Every component tasted intentional, not just tossed together. The mac salad was creamy with just the right amount of tang. It had that classic island-style richness but didn't feel overly heavy. It paired surprisingly well with the grilled elements from the bowl. The space itself has a relaxed, colorful vibe that fits the Hawaiian-inspired menu. Ordering was quick, and the staff were upbeat and helpful when I had a couple of questions about ingredients. Overall, LOCO ONO delivered a balanced meal with bold, clean flavors. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back and try something different next time.

I went in big like a starving hostage and ordered a half rack of ribs, brisket, pulled pork, a Habanero Jalapeño Cheddar sausage link and a side of mac and F'n Cheese! My wife, she had the pulled chicken and a salad. First taste was the brisket, gotta go in for the brisket. The bark was so flavorful and there was the distinct smoke flavor. Unlike another place I've been to, this place was smoke forward and that's the vibe I like. Not bitter, but a good smoke. The pulled pork was out of this world and the ribs were just about perfect. We ordered the Imperial Japanese Chicken Wings, the Frenchified Burger, and an order of poutine. The star of the meal was the chicken wings with the wasabi ranch dipping sauce. The seasoned shoestring fries served alongside were also excellent. The burger was very good, but it was essentially meat, sauce, and cheese. I like a little freshness on my burgers, so I was missing some lettuce and tomato. Fortunately, I substituted a salad for the fries and ended up piling most of it onto the burger. Next time, I'll just ask for those toppings to be added. The poutine, however, didn't quite live up to the versions I've had elsewhere. I'm not sure if they used white cheddar curds, but they were almost completely melted instead of retaining that signature squeaky texture. The gravy was just okay, and I don't think shoestring fries are the best choice for poutine since they don't hold up as well under the toppings. Overall, I'd definitely come back--especially for the wings and another burger.

From a Reno Regular: How a Great Concept Collapsed into Zero Service…read moreI hate having to write this review. We were regulars here from the very beginning, but after watching this place steadily degrade, our visit this past Friday was the final straw. What had the potential to be a standout local steakhouse has turned into an absolute joke. The Early Days vs. The Setup When they first opened, the experience had real heart and charm. The owner was there constantly with his young son running around, low-top tables and intimate candlelit settings filled the room, and a musician played live guitar in the corner. It felt like a warm, fun, family-driven environment. The service staff back then was exceptional. Brian was an absolute 12 out of 10--he didn't just recite the entire menu from memory, he could tell you exactly how every glaze was made, how each cut was cooked, prepared, and how it would be served. He made your mouth water before you even took a bite. Brandon (whom the owner's son affectionately called "B-Dog") was another fantastic server we loved seeing. He was a young guy working hard to make it work, showing immense passion, energy, and natural ability, and we were genuinely excited to watch him grow. Even then, the ordering concept was bizarre. You walked up to a counter to order, pay, and were prompted to tip before receiving any service whatsoever--which is frankly obnoxious for a steakhouse--and then handed a plastic number to take back to your table like you were at a Carl's Jr. Having to order drinks separately led to constant confusion, with people often leaving without settling drinks because nothing was tied to a traditional running tab. Still, we overlooked the setup because Brian, Brandon, the owner's presence, the atmosphere, and the food made it worthwhile. The Downward Slide Over time, management stripped away the intimate low-tops for rows of high-tops along the walls, completely killing the fine-dining ambiance and replacing it with the feel of a generic, loud bar. While they blamed a lot on COVID, the decline started before that and has only gotten worse: Everything on a QR Code: They allegedly have physical menus, but we never saw one. There are no menus handed out, no passionate staff walking you through the cuts, and zero personal interaction. Every single item--steaks, sides, and drinks--must now be ordered and paid for directly off a QR code on your phone, completely eliminating whatever hospitality was left. Nonexistent Service: On a prime Friday evening reservation, we were greeted by a teenager at the counter dressed sloppily. Instead of being seated, we were told, "Take any one of those tables," with a vague wave of a hand. Minutes later, someone dropped by only to say, "Scan that QR code to order," and walked right away. The Wine Fiasco: We ordered a bottle of wine, but were brought a single glass of wine instead. When we followed up and asked for three additional glasses so our table could share, the server came back, plunked an already-opened bottle on the table along with the glasses, and said, "I think I just opened this bottle for you, so it should be good." That is not how dining is supposed to go. Uncorking a mystery bottle in the back and bringing it out half-handled is outrageous for a steakhouse. Zero Hospitality: We had to hunt down staff just to get water and ask for our own to-go boxes. Not a single employee stopped by to check on the meal, refill a drink, or provide basic table touches. Pushing Guests Outdoors: They constantly try to seat people outside regardless of conditions--even right now, with active regional fires making the smoky outdoor air completely unhealthy to sit in. Drop in Food Quality: For the first time since coming here, the meal was legitimately bad. The food was sloppy, rushed, and thrown together without care, fitting the new bar-room aesthetic rather than a quality steakhouse. The Missing Heart of the Restaurant: The familiar faces that made this place great are entirely absent. The owner isn't around, and neither Brian nor Brandon have been seen on our last several visits, even on a peak weekend night. It feels like the passion completely walked out the door. The Parking Hassle: Parking has become a nightmare. The neighboring lot charges for parking, and unlike surrounding businesses, there is zero designated parking in the back for restaurant guests. Final Verdict We've brought friends here in the past and ended up embarrassed by the slipping standards. Paying fine dining steakhouse prices to seat yourself, order everything off your phone via a QR code without ever seeing an actual menu, get served mystery open bottles of wine, fetch your own amenities, eat rushed food at a high-top, and receive zero service is unacceptable. We won't be back, we won't tip upfront for service that never happens, and we'll be taking our steakhouse business elsewhere in Reno.

Overall the experience was good and I will return by myself but not with a group.

Hello, I'm reaching…read moreout regarding an extremely disappointing experience my wife and I had at Texas Roadhouse tonight. When we arrived, the restaurant was packed and we waited about an hour for a table. I want to be very clear: the hour wait is not my complaint. We could see that the restaurant was busy, we chose to wait, and we completely understood. Unfortunately, once we were seated, the experience continued to go downhill. We waited quite a while just to get our drinks, and when it was time to order, I ordered the 23 oz. porterhouse medium. When our meals finally arrived, my steak wasn't slightly overcooked--it was burned and well past well-done. I got our waitress's attention, and she took it back to have it corrected. I then waited approximately 30 more minutes for another steak. During that time, my wife's meal sat in front of her getting cold because she was trying to wait so we could actually have dinner together. When my replacement steak finally arrived, it was rare. At that point, I had received the same steak ordered medium twice--first severely overcooked and then severely undercooked. What was particularly frustrating was the manager's response. I was told that they "don't cut this cut in-house." I honestly don't understand what that had to do with the problem. I wasn't complaining about how the steak was cut. I was complaining because a steakhouse had been unable to cook a steak to medium after two attempts. After everything that had already happened, I asked about receiving a discount. We then waited approximately another 30 minutes for someone to come back and address that. Our check was around $90, and ultimately only $20 was taken off. I understand restaurants get busy. I understand kitchens get backed up. I also understand that mistakes happen. Had my steak come out incorrectly once and been promptly corrected, I probably wouldn't be writing this. But this was mistake after mistake, followed by waiting after waiting. By the end of the evening, my wife had a cold dinner, I never received the properly cooked porterhouse I ordered, and we still paid approximately $70. For a restaurant whose specialty is steak, I expected much better--not necessarily perfection, but certainly better handling of the situation when things went wrong. I'm asking Texas Roadhouse to review what happened and determine whether the way this was handled meets the level of service you expect your guests to receive. Thank you for taking the time to read about our experience. I would appreciate hearing from someone regarding this.
