Really good experience at Hinoki today. I've been there many times, but the nigiri today were much better than previous visits. I really enjoyed them. As always, the staffs are friendly and helpful, and the service was great!

Tried the ayce lunch option, and enjoyed all the nigiri, handrolls and rolls we tried. The ayce sushi comes in smaller than normal portions which I actually like because it's not too much rice like some ayce spots. Fish was good quality. Service was friendly, though the food prep was a bit slow. Would definitely recommend for an affordable large lunch option.

Got in here early-ish on Friday to try to beat the rush, but the rush came shortly after. This was a leisurely meal for us so we weren't pressed for time, but the rolls did take some time to get to us. We sat at the sushi bar and could tell the sushi prep was very busy making our rolls. BUT the fish is very fresh hear, of good quality and some of the best rolls in town as far as being inventive. It's a main staple for us in town and we try to get here about once a year and we're never disappointed

Overall, a really solid experience and great food. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and well done. Big fan of the Mountain Roll in particular, easily the highlight of the meal. That said, the service was very slow. I understand it was a busy Friday lunch rush, which I can appreciate, but a few items we ordered from the sashimi and roll section never made it to our table. It was confusing because we weren't sure if the food was still coming or had been missed entirely, and there wasn't much communication around it. Food quality was excellent, but the service issues knocked it down a bit. Still a place I'd come back to, just hoping for a smoother experience next time.

Back to Hinoki and yet another 5-star experience! The sushi comes fast and is not overly sauced. Staff are attentive and ensure that you have a great experience. My favorite roll is the Mountain long roll. The fish tastes good and the mussels are not overpowered by a mayo. If you're near the mall and have a craving, this is definitely a solid spot to check out.

Very please with the rolls we ordered. They were so good and I just couldn't get enough! Our service was wonderful and we will definitely be coming back!

Came for a weekday dinner and was seated right away. The fish was fresh, and the appetizers were fantastic! I really appreciated that the rolls were smaller in size, making it easy to try a wider variety of unique rolls with room for all the nigiri pieces too. Service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere felt cozy. It's family friendly and there's plenty of parking nearby, which makes it convenient. Easily one of the best AYCE sushi spots in Reno! My go to whenever I'm in town.

Hands down, BEST sushi I've had in Reno. Me and my husband tried this for the first time for our 2 year anniversary and it did not disappoint. Our favorites were; Happy (deep fried) Odd future Emi Golden gate Mermaid For appetizers we had the mussels, Yakiton, agedashi tofu, miso soup, and takoyaki. The yakiton and miso soup were the best I've had at any sushi place. The service was amazing and the environment was very inviting. We will definitely be coming back here. It does get a little packed so book ahead if you want to dine in. They also do take-out. My only regret is not taking more photos of how good the food looked.

Food was really good, our second server was very nice. The only thing bad I would say is that they forgot our last two rolls and the service wasn't very good. We weren't checked on and usually had to flag down a waitress.

This is hands-down, my favorite sushi place in Reno! I have come to Hinoki sushi many times over the past 3 to 4 years, and have enjoyed every moment. Expect great and friendly service, quick seating, quality fish and taste, and unique offerings to the restaurant. My friends and I always get all you can eat sushi, which is moderately priced, and you cannot go wrong with any of the hand rolls, long rolls, or appetizers. If anything, try out the Hinoki long roll. It is a unique order that contains basil sauce and really creates this unique blend of Italian flavor with Japanese cuisine. I really like it, most of my friends like it, one of my friends doesn't, so it's an interesting one. I highly recommend checking it out. AYCE Dinner: $36

    Mushroom super good.

The sushi is super good. Fresh and the very flavorful. They put the right mix of ingredients on the rolls that compliment each other and make them super yummy. We got the ceviche roll and it was very good. Actually they were all very good. Cherry blossom, Mountain, and Golden Gate. Went here for all you can eat lunch. The service was great and the atmosphere is spacious, clean, and cute.

    Mermaid was so really good!

This was our first time eating at Hinoki after I searched Yelp for a recommendation and we were not disappointed. They don't take reservations so we took our chances on a Saturday night and got right in. The tables are comfortable, simple and well spaced for privacy which I especially liked. I've been to other restaurants where they pack you in and this was perfect. I'm enjoying a reprieve with my dietary issues so I had a delicious tasting of the tempura veggies which were cooked perfectly and then the four of us dug in on the AYCE. We ordered two (by happy accident) Cherry Blossum , 300 without the spicy stuff (none of us could do heat), Captain Crunch, a Dragon, Mermaid, Mountain, Yoyo and a Tundra. One of our party has a nut allergy so they made the Tundra last and kept it separate. We also substituted basil sauce for spicy mayo on the rolls that came with it and no Togarashi (spicy chili seasoning). Honestly, we didn't have a single roll we didn't like with some degree. All of the fish was fresh and tasty, scallops were delicious in each roll they were included in and the mango was soft but not mushy with an excellent flavor. The tempura shrimps and crab were lightly breaded so the flavor of the seafood wasn't overpowered by the breading. Our server was wonderful and attentive. She did warn us that the 300 is better if it includes the stuff we kept off and she was mostly correct. Presentation was completely on point (once again hunger won over photography so I didn't get pictures until halfway through). They used the teriyaki as a decoration rather than a flavor. So I asked for a side and once added the 300 was really good. I would suggest you ask for the rolls that include it, to have it drizzled over the rolls in addition to the plate decoration or ask for a side. The best/favorites were the Yoyo, Mermaid, Tundra and Captain Crunch but if I'm honest, we didn't really make any bad choices. My fellow Yelpers did us good with this recommendation and I hope I'm helping you all do the same. Thank you, Hinoki!

Wasn't a long wait, which was awesome! I'm not a fan of AYCE sushi, but when in Rome.... Also, it was very tasty. Besides the pictured rolls, I ordered Salmon (Sake), Tuna (Maguro), and Cajun Salmon nigiri; the Salmon was perfect! Ice cream for dessert, the tempura banana with chocolate ice cream was a heavenly surprise Sadly, the restaurant wasn't very clean. The floors were sticky. The bathroom needed some love.

What exactly is included in AYCE? Or what isn't? Entrees? Appetizers?

AYCE includes appetizers, nigiri, handrolls, longrolls, dessert. Entrees, poke bowls, and sashimi are separate and not AYCE.

Is it unlimited mussels in all you can eat?

Yes, appetizers are unlimited as well.

Is this all you can eat, what are the ayce rules ,and is it good for groups for 6-8 people? Is there outdoor or indoor seating?

Yes all you can eat but call if they can accommodate your group

What time does the all you can eat lunch go to?

    11:00am till 3pm I believe

Is the menu the same for lunch and dinner?

I believe that the menu is the same however there are a few items added that are dinner only. I hope this helps.

Is there a sushi boat? Have limited time for lunch unfortunately

There is no Sushi Boat, but very fast service!

Do you get free sushi on your birthday?

Sorry haven't heard of any Bday club.

Have you had the ceviche roll at konpia how does it compare?

I think Kanpai has a better ceviche roll but Hinoki has a better menu, atmosphere and customer service by far not to mention it's a little cheaper than Kanpai as well

I finally decided to opt out of my usual Miso ramen order and try the donburi. My absolute favorite appetizers are the karaage chicken and takoyaki, it is very hard to find quality of either in town and each order has never been less than great. The menu is detailed and include vegetarian and vegan options. I had the chicken curry katsudon, the chicken was breaded and fried well, and the curry contained potatoes, carrots, and onions, yet it felt really heavy on the carrots, and I couldn't finish them all. My partner had the Kuro ramen, which he gets every time, but this time level 3 spice didn't seem spicy. Whenever we order to-go, it is visibly clear when it is level 3. The service was fast and friendly for a Thursday night, the lychee martini and draft Sapporo that we always order still tasted as good as ever.

I like simple sushi. So I tried the rolls just to try and see what they taste like. Its good if you like likes of flavor. It removes what people say is the fishy taste. I love the taste of fish. So I typically lean towards nigiri. I will amdit their sashimi salad as a 5/5. I loved it. I thought we could order 1 per round, but thats not the case. Look at the menu and its once per visit. The salmon hand roll is a 1 for me. It was not very crispy and hard to power through. So I dont recommend that, but they do a roll of it. So if you share with friends it might be worth while. The Niger I rate a 3.5/5. There was a lot of rice, but they also give a good size slice of fish. What got me was it didn't have that crisp taste when I ate it. Its hard to explain. This long-time Reno favorite is especially popular with the younger crowd due to the South Midtown location. Popularity is its main weakness though as it makes parking a headache, (not an area to leave valuables), and there is almost always a wait, often nearing or exceeding an hour during prime weekend dinners. No reservations. Don't be surprised if you have to wait outside or in your car. Once seated, place fewer large orders instead of many small ones since staff are stretched thin. Conversation can be tough with the loud packed room and music. Sports usually on big screens. Even at the sushi bar, it is not the usual experience. You still order on paper. High bar fridges block the view, and with 6 to 8 chefs working fast, conversation is unlikely. You are there to eat, not watch the craft or make a new friend behind the bar. Fish quality is about as good as AYCE gets in Reno, and the rice is less sugary than most. Nigiri often has the best fish-to-rice ratio in town. Good roll selection, including a Salmon Skin Handroll. Like many spots, some rolls are heavy on eel sauce or mayo, making the fish secondary unless you skip sauce or choose simpler options. The baked mussel appetizer was drenched in sweet sauce and tasted like candy. Surprised there was no mayo on those too. Price is a couple dollars above average local AYCE but worth it if you tolerate the wait, still cheaper than casinos. Monday through Thursday, sake is included. Arguably the best spot in Reno right now, though on a busy night I might pick one of the close seconds if I want to eat quickly. Upon being seated, we were told to fill out the all-you-can-eat order form as many times as we wanted, which sounded great. I personally don't eat sushi, but I appreciated that they offered protein options like chicken and beef. I ordered a Bento box--simple enough. That's where things started to go downhill. My meal didn't arrive for over 30 minutes, and when it finally did, it was cold. The chicken tasted like pressed meat and was extremely chewy--definitely not what you'd expect from a basic entrée. I wasn't planning to complain, but it became clear the issue wasn't just my order. The other four people in my group were barely being served at all. Meanwhile, tables that were seated after us were receiving multiple rounds of food while we continued waiting. We asked several servers for updates, and each time we were told they'd check on it--only for them to disappear for 10-15 minutes with no follow-up. After spending over two hours there, many of us left hungry and frustrated. I understand places like this may rely on high turnover or tourist traffic, but customer service and basic food quality should still matter. If you're taking the time to read reviews before choosing where to eat, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. And just to top it off--the ice cream was so frozen solid in its pre-staged cup that the spoon couldn't even break through it.
