I love this place and always have. The sushi has always been so good since I was a kid and the quality hasn't changed. The server there was very polite when taking our order and didn't forget a thing. He was tipped well for is positive service! I love the beach ambiance in there. The mirrors are a nice touch. And this is random but holy cow I have never seen a bathroom so clean that should foreshadow the cleanliness that there kitchen probably has. Unfortunately I scarfed my food down so fast I forgot to take pictures but I do strangely have pictures of how clean the bathroom is there haha xD I'll drop those below. But please try this place out. So good. Yum yum yum! (Godzilla and Nigiri were awesome. And don't forget the mussels!)

I referred to my Reno Yelp collection to see where I wanted to eat at while spending a few days in Reno. I've had this bookmarked since a friend suggested it a few years back. After a shopping run this morning hubby & I were ready to eat some sushi. The restaurant has a very small footprint. The windows are obscured due to the Reno desert heat. Is it opened for business? Yep. We were shown to a table today Monday around 12pm. You can do AYCE or order a la carte. We went with ACYE lunch $25.95. Pros: * good variety of long sushi rolls - not too much rice on each. * good variety of nigiri - my go to's always unagi & hamachi. * excellent hand rolls - we each got the salmon skin. Hubby's had salmon skin and octopus * the mussel appetizer was very fresh according to hubby. * green tea ice cream was refreshing. Cons: * we ordered too many long sushi rolls. Good thing the staff knew to only make one Godzilla and one Elvis even though we ordered two each. Definitely would have been too much. * I thought the California roll just ok. Too much imitation crab and not enough avocado. You're allowed three rounds on a very extensive two sided paper order form - 1) certain lunch appetizers 2) long sushi rolls 3) nigiri 4) hand rolls & 5) desserts. We were only good for one substantial round. By round two we ordered very few items. And no round three at all. Done. We paid cash as they've implemented a 3.5 % credit card fee. The restaurant is located in a strip mall where Costco warehouse is the anchor store.

Gluten free menu as of summer 2025

They have an amazing takeout special and reasonable all you can eat sushi! In addition they have a gluten free menu and are super knowledgeable about additional Modifications. I've attached photos of the current GF menu to make it easier for folks to order online. But if you go in or call in the staff can advise too. If you are ordering takeout and have some items you want to remain with gluten make sure to specify that or they might modify everything for you. That happened once when my gluten-eating husband ordered crystal shrimp - they sent raw shrimp. But for me this is great as I'd much rather a place defer to assuming everything should be gluten free than getting sick!

My experience at sushi pier was just ok. It's a pretty small restaurant and it was busy that night with only two servers so the wait time was a little long in between. My friend and I did the all you can eat option and ordered a couple appetizers, nigiri, and rolls. For appetizers we ordered the tempura stuffed calamari, moondog stars, baked mussels, miso soup, and house salad. Both the tempura stuffed calamari and the moondog stars were rock hard to bite into so I wasn't a fan of it. The baked mussels and house salad was just ok. I did like the miso soup a lot tho. For nigiri, I had the salmon, saba, unagi, and upside down shrimp. None of these really stood out to me so it was just meh. I had also ordered the salmon skin handroll which was good in my opinion. All I can say is that I'm glad I finally tried it. It's been on my list and I can cross it off.

    Kim Fritters, coleslaw, edamame

Sushi Pier consistently turns out exceptional dishes, and Kim's Fritters are ones I dream about. Crispy, delicately wrapped rice with crab and avocado on top. They are so tasty. I treated myself to some for Mother's Day. A side of creamy coleslaw and edamame made for a perfect meal. I've always gotten my meals to go, but I noticed how adorable the decorations were for Mother's Day -- balloon bouquets and fresh flowers. I just may have to eat there one of these days

A small shop near DT Reno! The space is limited and the wait time is not too bad! Our waiter, pretty quick with his service and accurate on his order taking! The staff in general is pretty helpful, which I liked! The AYCE price is kind of pricey for Nevada, but so good considering the quality of sushi and options included! We loved the quail egg shooters and the nigiri! We absolutely will come back here again, since it's literally 5 mins away from the our fave resort ( Grand Sierra).

Mussels Donald duck Marilyn Monroe Titan roll Were the things I ordered. The Marilyn is a basic roll that helps cleanse the taste in your mouth between rolls. By itself, it is very bland. I only order when I need the blandness between two powerful rolls. The Titan was good. I prefer the Ava over the Titan. The Ava has more bold flavors. The Donald duck is a common appetizers for sushi places. Donald tasted good. Not too much rice. The mussels were perfectly done. Not overly chewy. I had 14 mussels total. Over all this is a good go to place. Never that crowded. We are always sat very quickly with little to no wait times.

Great experience overall! The original sushi pier is a cozy location (not too big so recommend making a reservation or calling ahead if you have a party of 5 or more). The service is very kind, they do want to accommodate for you and as we came as a group of 7, they were able to still get us seated but we did split into 2 tables. We did AYCE and we love it here! The Nigiris are super worth it, we recommend getting as many Donald's as your heart desires! We also loved the Special Scallop hand roll and the Happy Ending fried banana dessert is perfect to close out AYCE... seriously! PARKING is super easy in the outdoor lot right outside, they have a bathroom in the restaurant, and they offer takeout ordering too. If you do come at a busy time and have to wait, since this location is small, there is not much room to wait inside (would keep in mind if it's raining or cold outside). Overall, we love Sushi Pier whenever we come to Reno! Check it out for a homey, comforting sushi experience!

Went for ayce lunch, which isn't bad for $25 a person. Seated right away and we were able to order through a sheet, with three rounds throughout the meal. The service was good, attentive the whole time, and the food came at a reasonable time. The menu consists of appetizers, nigiri, hand rolls, and long rolls. The rice, which is a prominent part in the sushi experience, was dry and hard. It was definitely noticeable, as it was hard to eat at times. I hope it was just the time I went, and not a consistent thing. They give a lot of rice to fish ratio. The fish I tried (eel, tuna, salmon, squid, octopus) were good, no fishy taste, and very fresh. The rainbow roll however, the fish inside was a little fishy, not very pleasant. I could not finish. The muscles had good flavor. Overall, a good experience and customer service was so nice. The ayce also includes ice cream in the end.

came here for lunch on a monday at 2:30pm! what a cute little restaurant! staff was very friendly, they have a sushi bar in the middle where people were seated and they ordered their ayce orders directly to the chef! the chefs in the middle were co cute and sweet. i really liked the environment of the restaurant. ayce for lunch was $26! i was surprise that they offered all you can eat, im from the bay area so its pretty common but i was surprised they have one in reno. as a reminder, nevada isn't close to any oceans so it is hard to get fish out here. i thought this place was pretty good for the price, the staff was friendly and attentive, and considering that its all the way in reno. my favorite was the salmon nigiri! i can eat prolly 10 orders in one sitting. i thought the tuna was weirdly pink, but it was not fishy at all! i also recommend getting the donald, i really liked it, it was like a deconstructed california roll but with salmon! i definitely recommend coming here if you like to eat a lot of sushi and want to pay a reasonable price for all you can eat. it's good for what you pay for and you leave full!

From top to bottom: salmon, tuna and yellow tail nigiri

I needed to do something the last hour before my flight and this place caught my eye, especially since it's all you can eat. The lunch pricing is only until 3pm. Dinner all you can eat is $32.95. I didn't know how close it was to the airport until I drove after my meal, but let me tell you, it's extremely close! You will make it to your flight if you eat here. Bathroom is also pretty clean. There is plenty of parking in the front for this restaurant. They are right across from Costco. (I had just finished filling up the gas for my rental car.) As soon as you walk in, there is somebody there to seat you immediately. It is a cozy space, but still big enough for family dining. I was seated right in front of the sushi bar and I'm not used to the sushi chef asking me directly what I would like to order, but it wasn't busy and he's literally right in front of you! Thankfully by the end of the meal I got more comfortable ordering. They ask you frequently if you would like anything else. The quality of fish was decent. The quality of the avocado and cucumber was even better. Vegetarian options are plenty. Since they were not that busy the service was very quick. The service was also friendly and straight to the point. Pictured is the 007 roll and since it is deep fried it takes a little bit longer to come out. I was surprised to see how deep fried it was! I almost did not get my money's worth because the 007 roll slowed me down. Keep in mind that long rolls are 8-10 pieces. At the end of the meal, ice cream was offered. It was good ice cream. I grabbed green tea. I know they also have mango and other flavors available. Overall, I would come here again. For the sushi and the price, it is a good deal. Hopefully with friends and family so they can experience it as well. Great last stop for my Reno trip. Support the business!

The service from start to finish was immaculate! I recently visited this all-you-can-eat sushi spot, and it truly is a hidden gem. The fish was fresh, flavorful, and far better than what you'd expect from most AYCE places. Every roll was well-made and arrived quickly. The menu had a great variety, so there was always something new to try. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel easy and relaxed. The restaurant was clean, cozy, and had a welcoming atmosphere. For the price, the quality is honestly unbeatable. I'll definitely be coming back and bringing my bf & my sis!

Came on the long weekend's Saturday night and when we got here it was already 8:20 and they close at 9pm. It was a bit rushed for AYCE but we got lucky as we sat on the sushi bar where we could directly make our orders. Although I heard of Sushi Pier before it was my first time here. The shop was smaller than I thought but with 4 sushi chef in the center, our busy orders were magically all taken care of. Our lady waitress and sushi chef worked quickly to get our orders. It looks like they got our orders and plated them and gave us all together. Luckily each of us only ordered 2-3 items each time so we could keep ordering while eating to cut down the wait time. We found that combining orders also help, so the chef and make a bunch at a time. To be honest, the sushi cuts aren't that big or thick, but the orders added up quickly. The quail egg shooter was a bit disappointing as the spicy sauce sank to the bottom. The ikura were unlimited and they were so fresh that I rated them the best! The Mickey and Donald are all good, the unagi is also descent. Hamachi are fresh, salmon looks good, I didn't like the snapper as it was drizzled with sriracha. For 32.95 a person I found it good value with fresh sushi and good service!

If we go as a group, does everybody in the group have to order AYCE? We have kids and certain adults that won't eat sushi.

No you can buy rolls singly for a single price of course and they have Chinese dishes there are lots of items for a la carte

What is the AYCE option for kids at age of 2?

I think the 2 year old is free . They have California rolls that's appropriate for toddlers that age.

Hi, is the AYCE option still available? Thanks!

Yes it is. 20.95 for lunch. And 27.95 for dinner www.sushipier1.com

Are you open on Christmas? What is the current price for adults and kids? How big of a group can you accommodate? Thanks!

Hey sorry for the late response. We are not open on Christmas Day. Here is our website for menu and pricing. www.sushipier1.com.

How much is the lunch special for all you can eat?

The AYCE for lunch is 20.95.

Is this place all you can eat and what are the rules? Is it good for groups ( 7 ppl)

Yes, it is an AYCE sushi place with the exception of deserts. Under the old management, you could ask for as many deserts you could eat, but under the new management, your limited to just one desert.

Does anyone know if this place is still doing buffet? I can't find any new info on its website. Thanks

    All you can eat, yes

    How much for kids ayce?

    $10.95

Do you get free sushi on your birthday?

I don't think so, not at this location at least.

I like simple sushi. So I tried the rolls just to try and see what they taste like. Its good if you like likes of flavor. It removes what people say is the fishy taste. I love the taste of fish. So I typically lean towards nigiri. I will amdit their sashimi salad as a 5/5. I loved it. I thought we could order 1 per round, but thats not the case. Look at the menu and its once per visit. The salmon hand roll is a 1 for me. It was not very crispy and hard to power through. So I dont recommend that, but they do a roll of it. So if you share with friends it might be worth while. The Niger I rate a 3.5/5. There was a lot of rice, but they also give a good size slice of fish. What got me was it didn't have that crisp taste when I ate it. Its hard to explain. The food quality is good. Don't get me wrong. Just the service and my simple taste buds. Its very popular and many locals love it. The lady was very sweet, when we got to speak with her. We were seated quickly. Now that can be attributed to the fact that we were early for dinner. We opted for a tabled, but there were plenty of seats available at the sushi bar. We only waited for a few minutes before the first wave of fish was delivered. Throughout dinner, we never had to wait long for the sushi to be delivered. The atmosphere was decent. It felt like it was more of a storefront than a traditional restaurant. But, it was a storefront and I don't care about that. I base my rating on freshness, service and cleanliness of the store. The card says, "Buy 10 meals and get the 11th free." It does not say that all 10 stamps have to be on the same physical card, and it does not say "no combining cards." The frustrating part is that the restaurant also did not ask us to keep using one existing card. On prior visits, they simply handed out new punch cards, which is how we ended up with multiple partially stamped cards in the first place. Then, when my wife and daughter tried to use the stamps together, the restaurant refused and said the 10 stamps had to be on one card. They spent about 10 minutes discussing it with staff, but the reward still was not honored. I understand restaurants can set whatever loyalty program rules they want, but those rules should be printed clearly on the card and applied consistently. As written, the customer-facing promise is that if you buy 10 meals, you get the 11th free. Refusing to honor multiple stamped cards, especially after handing out new cards on prior visits, felt unfair and created an unnecessarily negative experience. The food may be good, but this left a bad impression. If the policy is "one card only," they should print that clearly and stop handing out new cards when customers already have active ones.

As I sit at the bar with salmon eggs popping in my mouth, I think: life is good, but not perfect,…read moresame for Tokyo Sushi. Most times I come alone an hour before closing and get a seat at the bar almost immediately. This visit, I was astonished to find 36 people on the waitlist with only an hour left. At that late point they hand out order sheets while you're waiting, which for groups still not seated means placing a MEGA order as soon as you sit down, followed by a rushed scarfing-down session as the staff begins closing up shop. The menu is quite large with heavy overlap with the menus at most other AYCE places. Roll selection is good and popular, as I look to either side, I'm appreciative of most patrons filling up on rolls commonly made with fake Krab (same stuff in frozen fish sticks), deep-fried ingredients, and generous applications of mayo and eel or teriyaki sauce. These cost the restaurant far less than a steady stream of nigiri, effectively subsidizing the roughly $120 worth of assorted nigiri I'm about to consume for about a third of that price. To each their own. The rice was perfectly seasoned and properly cooked, the most important part of sushi, though on one previous visit it leaned a bit too sweet. The fish tasted good, and the fish-to-rice ratio is better than at most competing spots. Service attentiveness can vary but on average is typically solid with a call button you can press. The combination of a packed dining room and upbeat music makes the place LOUD and festive, with sports on two large-screen TVs that appeal to the younger Midtown crowd. The downside is that carrying on a conversation in a larger group can be challenging. The bar refrigerator sits high enough that you can't really watch the chefs work, and when combined with the noise and possibly a language barrier, forget about chatting with the sushi chef. Food-wise, it's easy to place Tokyo Sushi in Reno's top three AYCE options, though you'll pay a few dollars more than average at roughly $45 per person with tax and tip as of June 2026. Its extreme popularity, however, fills the parking lot and creates wait times capable of testing almost anyone's patience. Waiting over an hour during peak dinner service is not uncommon, and the crowded waiting area may leave you standing outside or sitting in your car. Hungry couples and groups may want to consider less busy alternatives, especially on a 90+ degree summer day or when winter "rolls" around.

Service I would give a 2 star. The chocolate icecream looks like it was be prescooped into the cups then put back in the freezer after it had melted a little. In the picture, you can see it was melted at some point and then refrozen. Makes the ice cream taste gross. I got passed by 7 different times before a waiter told me to put the ticket in the holder for someone to come get it. The server was going to put it in the holder and walk away without it until I mentioned I'd already been passed by several times, then he took it with a huff. In 2018 I gave this place a 5 star so I wanted to try it again with my mother and my son. A little disappointed. I'm willing to give it another chance but not anytime soon. I need the distaste of bad service to get out of my mouth before I return.
