I really like the food here, but the last few times the service hasn't been that great. I went for my birthday a few months ago and they forgot a bunch of my rolls, now I'm here with my bf and I ordered my rolls with my boyfriend and it's been 20 min now and he got 2 of his rolls and I haven't even gotten 1 roll. Sad cause I really liked the food here but I'm sick of my dinner being ruined because they keep forgetting about me. And as I can see this place use to be 5 stars and now it's down to 4. We had some hand roll sushi there was 8 little pieces in each order for $11.95 and up! Super yummy, everything was very good. The rolls, the service, the restaurant. Spacious even though it was a packed house. It was 3:30 when we arrived and busy. We waited about 5 minutes for a seat, they are quick, yet we did not feel rushed. Now, this is STILL My go-to place for sushi. And I came here on Monday which was a holiday, because a couple other places that I wanted to try that I was closer to were closed. I mean, look at the number of check-ins at this place. I'm only giving three stars on this review, because for the first time, out of over a dozen visits, I had THE WORST SERVICE I have ever experienced it this place. We were super hungry, so we didn't want to wait for the bar, which I recommend always sitting at a bar area, no matter how long the wait is because typically service at a table just isn't the same. We were sat in the back, and had a server I've never seen before. Younger, dainty, petite gal with long black hair and lip and mouth piercings. We were sat down, and she took our drink order. Never brought us our dish of wasabi, ginger, and cucumber salad. She came back and give us our order sheets. Half of what I had ordered was not brought to the table. After our first wave of nigiri came, we had to ask a different server to get our ginger and soy sauce cups. After taking her sweet time, and pal'ing up with a couple other women at a different table, she finally comes back. Gives us some more order sheets. Drinks are low, no food in sight, and she galavants around the dining area, sometimes popping in the back to grab a bite. She finally makes her way back to our table, where we've been sitting with a completed order sheet for over 15 minutes. She picks it up, and instead of going straight to the kitchen, she goes and clears off a couple tables, goes and talks to a couple other people, goes and takes somebody else's order! Glad she finally found the time to submit our order sheet. 10 minutes past, and half of our order gets delivered to a different table! The kid was nice enough to ask us if it was ours and gave it to us. She asked me to order what my previous order was missing. I guess we got it, who knows. There's only one other waitress, and older woman in my first review, that I will actually let serve me at this place if I can't get a bar seat. If she's not there, then I probably won't even eat there that day. You guys got to do something with this girl, you guys got to do better. What a disappointment. For the first time ever, I didn't leave my typical 35% tip. Ohana Sushi is always an easy choice to make because they're normally so busy; so, anytime we're in the neighborhood and they'd just opened, we'll try to head in there. Fortunately, during this visit, they had just opened for lunch service so our party of 4 was seated almost immediately. A few servers checked in with us and took our initial orders; as usual, all throughout our meal, the service was exceptionally attentive. Sushi date for lunch! It was long overdue and we hadn't been in here for quite sometime. Our server mentioned he hadn't seen us in awhile. I'm not sure if there are newer sushi chefs, but we were disappointed because we were craving it. Luckily our servers took great care of us. Everything else was lacking. Our sushi was over sauced and took away from our raw fish. I think we enjoyed the appetizers and our few cooked long rolls over our raw options. I think the avocado used was over ripe and just mushy. Seated within minutes, always a friendly atmosphere and Melanie provided some amazing customer service, once again. This was our first time here. We had been taking a break from AYCE, but today we went for the Lunch AYCE Sushi. It was busy, but still got seated right away. We started with a few appetizers; The Mussels and Yakiton. The Mussels were good, but not as hot as I would've liked. The Yakiton was piping hot, but very tasty once it cooled down a bit. I ordered 3 Long Rolls; The Aloha, Rocky Mountain and the Arizona. I ordered these rolls from the Raw Sushi Menu, but there was still some kind of Tempura inside, which I didn't necessarily want. Ohana has been our favorite and go to spot since we discovered it 3 or so years ago! Their food is amazing, service is amazing, and we enjoy the casual atmosphere! They also have some outside seating during the warmer days. Our favorite is their nigiri! Their fish cut size and rice ratio is perfect. Thick cuts topping small amounts of rice and fish are always fresh too! They WILL get crazy busy and super packed so you should always be prepared to wait. Wow I was very impressed with the quality of everything we had. I had the AYCE and the fish was very fresh and the fish portion to rice was spot on!! Most AYCE sushi loads up the rice so it was a pleasant experience and tasted more authentic. The rice texture and temperature is a big deal to me and it was perfect. My boyfriend got fried rice and noodles and they were also cooked perfectly and the flavor was awesome. The staff were also so attentive and quick to take order. This is literally my first stop when I visit Reno. Their sushi is delicious, the best in town! I've yet to have a bad experience here. I've been to Ohana Sushi before and had a pleasant experience, but after today, I don't think I'll be coming back. From the moment we walked in, the staff was unfriendly and unwelcoming. As we stood waiting to be seated, we could overhear the staff complaining about "all the customers showing up at once" - it was noon, prime lunch time, so it seemed like they weren't prepared for the rush. Our party of four, with an infant in a car seat, seemed to cause some frustration for the staff, which made the whole experience uncomfortable. While the restaurant was understandably crowded, the noise level was high, but that's something I can excuse given the time of day. Parking was another issue - we had to park behind the business next door because the lot was so packed, which was a hassle. The real frustration came when we placed our order. One person in our group specifically requested soy wraps, which we noted on the paper and also mentioned to our waitress. We received most of our rolls, but after a long wait, we noticed that the soy rolls were still missing. We asked the waitress about it, and she assured us they were "on the way." Thirty minutes later, still no rolls. When we asked again, she said they were coming and even offered us another paper to order more rolls - which was confusing since we were still waiting for the soy rolls we originally ordered. After another 10 minutes, when we still hadn't received the soy rolls, the waitress came by again asking if we wanted ice cream. We declined, but it felt like she was trying to move us along without resolving the issue. By the time we asked a third time, the rest of the table had finished their meals, and we were handed a check for four "all-you-can-eat" meals, even though one person hadn't received anything to eat. When we brought this up, the waitress simply shrugged and said she didn't know why the soy rolls hadn't come out and that's why she offered us the extra paper. No apology, no attempt to fix the issue. The worst part was that the staff seemed indifferent to our frustration and didn't seem to care that we were charged for something we didn't receive. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth, and the food wasn't even that great this time around. It's clear that Ohana Sushi has become too busy and understaffed. What was once a friendly and enjoyable spot has turned into a frustrating experience. I won't be coming back after this visit. read more

My faves were the Godfather roll glazed with a sweet sauce and black tobiko and the spicy Battleborn roll topped with fresh jalapeno. The service was mixed.. the servers were nice and repeatedly checked up on me, but they did not offer to explain anything when I was first seated and brought out long rolls when I marked hand rolls on the ordering form. I did not know that nigiri was per order (each order is 2 pieces), not per piece, so I effectively received double the amount of nigiri that I marked on the ordering form. This amount per order is not clearly indicated on the menu. Nigiri was just okay. The fish was not of great quality, and some pieces were really chewy; I had to spit some of it out. Some pieces also tasted really questionable in terms of freshness (squid, red snapper, albacore). Hand rolls that I ordered were excellent, and definitely the highlight of the meal. I would highly recommend Ocean Fire, Scorpion and Ultimate Tuna. The evening employees are attentive, friendly, and make the experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, today during the morning/midday shift was a completely different experience.
