Tha Joint is honestly my go to sushi place at this point. Pick up, dine in, random sushi craving, whatever. They've been around for 15 years and it's still a good time since when they opened. It's not trying to be overly fancy. The atmosphere is casual but definitely a little more hip than your standard sushi place, and the music is usually excellent if you're a millennial. There are TVs if you want to watch a game, but it's also a great place to sit, catch up with friends, and not feel like they're trying to rush you out the second you finish eating. They have a ton of fun rolls, including plenty of cooked options if raw fish isn't your thing. My regular rotation is Tha Latingo, Tha Shiznit, Tha Hitman, Tha Caterpillar, Upside Down Shrimp, and Yakitori. One of those first few is legitimately spicy, not "sushi restaurant spicy," so maybe follow it with something mild unless you enjoy making questionable decisions. I'm not much of a yellowtail person, so someone else will have to provide the expert opinion there. If you sit at the sushi bar, things usually come out at a reasonable speed, and they're great about letting you customize things. The chefs can be a little hit or miss on how chatty they are, but that's never bothered me. The servers are consistently quick, especially about clearing plates, which is very appreciated during AYCE. Overall, it's reliably good, easy, above average Reno AYCE sushi without trying too hard to be something it isn't. And the fact that it's close to home certainly doesn't hurt.

Good rolls depend on whom is making them. Nice to see the chefs helping each other and training the new ones. We had a newer employee so the rolls weee not as polished as before. Still the same quality of fish and other items. The all you can drink sake is a nice addition to the AYCE sushi. The chilled Mango sale was a different taste.

So far this is the best testing sushi joint in Sparks that I have found. There's not a lot to choose from without going to Reno but living in Spanish springs I don't want to drive 30 min to go to dinner. I'm glad we tried this place - the manager was very attentive and the waitress was quick to get us drinks. The manager even brought us the chefs special roll in addition to our order since I asked what the popular rolls are and let us take home the leftovers (for all u can eat that's rare!) They had high chairs for littles and lively music and my 18 month old had a blast! They even found ketchup for her so she would eat her dinner - and we discovered she loves Miso soup! She would rate it 5 stars too

Enjoyed their AYCE sushi on Halloween. Walked in at 1 pm and no wait to get seated. All the servers were great, super attentive to checking for more orders. Food came out quick and tasted great. Our family loves coming here for their menu items and yummy flavors!

Food was great my favorite roll is definitely the five-0 and the 9 yard all the appetizers a great as well unfortunately im not to big on raw seafood but from what my freind said it was good! Service was not bad I would like a little bit more checkups since we did finish our food and drinks fast we tend to get like two rolls at a time to play it safe. Ambiance is not bad I like the sports they played on the TV.

Well it's been quiet a long time since I've been here. Came here in the spur of the moment and was seated quickly at the bar. Service was good, checking to make sure everything was good periodically. The food was great and wait time wasn't very long. Wasn't too busy on a Tuesday dinner service. Wasn't too loud inside so you could have a conversation with the people around you. Sorry I don't remember what the name of the rolls were. All were good and satisfying...no complaints Would definitely come here again

I recently went to Tha Joint Sushi and Grill. I had not been there in years; since the opening. I was not impressed with my first visit and had not been back. I decided to give them another try, and I'm glad I did. They were kind of busy and it took me awhile to be served at the bar; even between orders. The sushi was very good and they have some unique offerings. Overall, it was good, but I still have my favorite places that I continue to frequent.

The Joint Sushi is a go to for sushi in Sparks! We ordered take out and everything was so tasty and traveled well(sometimes not the case). We ordered the Tha Joint, Tha Rainbow, Tha Funky Chicken, and tha Hottie with a side of edamame. Tha Funky Chicken is a must!! Sooo good! They have a large interior and specials for dine in.

Wow, what a fantastic Five Star Dining Experience at Tha Joint in Sparks off Los Altos Pky. We were welcomed and seated at the sushi bar, the place was electric with lots of customers for a buzzing Saturday night. Loved the atmosphere and the service was outstanding! The Fish was fresh and the menu had so many choices of rolls. Thank you to Tony, our server and Sushi Chef's Gil & Javier for creating so many sushi rolls with style. It was a Five Star Dining Experience. Fast, friendly delicious and fresh. Well done! Tae Sung Lee is an Outstanding Restaurant Manager. I loved watching so many employees working together to make great food with such finesse. Tha Joint Sushi & Grill, 2 locations, Sparks & Reno. A great dining experience. Loved it! Julie A

When the pandemic hit, I started doing their Chinese takeout with the Combo boxes and learned that their Chinese food was also incredible and for several years now, have consistently gotten fresh, flavorful, quality ingredients that has never been wrong. I just kept forgetting photos because we end up scarfing it down before I realize that I still hadn't posted a review and I always want photos with my reviews. Last Friday night, I finally remembered and I'm glad I waited because this was the first time one of us got the Lobster Roll as an entree. This HUGE and beautiful roll is absolutely a meal unto itself and worth getting as your only entree. The sushi chefs are truly artists. It also tastes as good as it looks. I have became an AYCE "cheap date" in the last several years so I always get the combo box now. It gives you a little of everything and you can bring home leftovers. There's something about the salad, or rather everything about the salad! It's just lettuce, crunchy noodles and their house sesame dressing but the lettuce is always fresh, cool and crisp. It never tastes bagged so someone is prepping heads of lettuce every day. It doesn't matter if you choose the Tonkatsu, Sesame Chicken or Steak with your box because all of them are tender. I usually get the chicken and it's a LARGE portion of tender chicken, lightly breaded and then sauced, sliced and topped. The Tempura veggies always includes one shrimp, one zucchini and a few sweet potatoes. I upgrade my half sushi roll to the Wayne's roll or something for, usually, a $3 upcharge which still comes in very affordable. Their Egg drop and Miso soup is never thin and always hearty, white rice is perfectly cooked, slightly sticky. It's a nice sampler for people like me who have a hard time making a decision and isn't overly expensive. I'm generally cursed dining out and if something is gonna be wrong, taste bad, forgotten, undercooked, whatever... it's usually me. So when I find a place that never misses a step, it's like finding my personal unicorn. CJ is a unicorn!

The same woman was also our waitress, and it was obvious she was trying to do everything herself. She was waiting on about six tables while constantly yelling at the sushi chefs, the kitchen staff, and another employee. Unfortunately, she brought that same loud, frantic energy to every interaction with customers, which made for a very unpleasant dining experience. The food was disappointing. It lacked flavor, and the menu felt like it was trying to do too much. Being both a sushi bar and a hibachi restaurant seemed to hurt the overall quality. Two of us ordered the all-you-can-eat option, which ended up being a big mistake. Between the bland food and the slow service, we lost our appetites before we could really enjoy the meal. One final warning: check your bill carefully. We were a party of four, but we were automatically charged gratuity even though the menu states that gratuity is only added for parties of six or more. That was frustrating and should be corrected.

My son and his girlfriend were visiting from out of state, so I brought them in around 7:00 PM expecting a good meal. The restaurant had a steady crowd, but it was not overwhelmingly packed. We ordered the All-You-Can-Eat (AYCE) sushi, drinks, and appetizers. It took nearly an hour before we saw any food. When I brought the severe delay and missing drinks/appetizers to the manager's attention, I was completely brushed off rather than having the issue addressed. To make matters worse, our second round of sushi took just as long. By 9:00 PM--over two hours later--we were still waiting on basic items. Rather than continuing to argue our dissatisfaction, I asked for the bill. For an established business, you would expect management to apologize or offer some form of accommodation after such a massive delay, but we were charged the full $206.99 without hesitation. Due to the complete lack of hospitality and unprofessional management, I cannot recommend this location.

Upon comparing notes with my wife on our way home, the following was the general takeaways: Honestly this is probably some of the worst sushi I've ever had in my life. Coupled with rude, careless service. The servers "handle the room" as a team but act inconvenienced by simple "can I get more water please?" or "we never got our miso soup we ordered 30 minutes ago; can you check on that?" or "Do you suppose I can get a little more wasabi?" Forgets. I ask again. Condescending eye roll ensues. Etc. What lures you in: The online menu and photos look amazing. The food in-person does not closely resemble what's represented online. The lighting in the room may be part of the problem, but what looked bright, colorful, fresh & tasty both on Yelp and on their online menu, was not in person, nor the consumption, anything more than marginal. The sushi rice was missing the sugar and vinegar taste, and each roll was dry with little to no sauce. The food did not scream fresh, sushi-grade seafood and the typical accompanying flavors. It was on par with day old grocery store or airport kiosk sushi. Perhaps it was an off-night for them; perhaps it's gone downhill from factors we won't ever know. Our son and girlfriend have eaten here before and commented on how degraded their experience and food was comparatively. Caution if ordering one of the rolls with lemon slices inside: they are not delicate razor thin slices of lemon. They are closer to what you'd cram into a Corona at a bar. Waaaayyyyy overpowering large wedges of lemon rind. That's literally all you could taste. All in all, I would not recommend nor would I currently consider giving this spot a second shot. Should you dare to try, may your experience be much more pleasant...!
