We went here tonight for dinner and the customer service was amazing from the host to the chefs, we sat at the bar. The chefs were on top of it and were getting our rolls out in a quick and efficient manner. We tried multiple rolls and they were delicious. The only one I wasn't a big fan on was the King Kong, which is typically one of my favorite rolls at different sushi restaurants. It just wasn't the greatest, but there's so many other options that I'm not too upset about not liking the King Kong. Overall a wonderful experience and we will be back.

Amaaaaaziiiinggg!! Best spot I have found in the area and pretty good deal for the all you can eat sushi. Server was great and attentive and food came out FAST! Everything was so fresh tasting. My boyfriend who never cared for sushi now really loves it because of this spot.

Honest dine-in review: Make sure to sit at the bar to get the best experience of all you can eat: 5/5 One of the best things Reno has to offer is the "all you can eat" experience, because it really is.... All you can eat! You can't go wrong with a full staff experience where you have a team of chefs preparing your meals in front of you dare I say? Flawlessly? We watched as training was going on for customer service, table side manners, and just attention to detail in the preparation, the presentation, and the timeliness of dinner time rush. -Appetizers: 5/5 My picks for you if I had to choose 3 would be: Yakitan, gyoza, and mussels they are dishes that will get you ready for the freshness of your dish. Made to order. They're savory and fatty to the bite and swallow to help you prepare for the rice you're about to inhale. Between a sweet, savory bite from the gyoza and yakitan. You're then followed up by a sea forward spicy rich and almost creamy texture from the mussels. Absolutely delicious! Ngiri/Makki: 5/5 Look, it's hard to find fresh off the boat fish in Nevada. So it's an art to say that when you bite these cuts, you're getting a premium bite. Paired with some rich and intricate recipes. You've got a bite that your adventurous sushi lovers are going to love. My top 3 out of 7 recommendations for the night go as follows: pink lady, the war, and JJ's #2 The pink lady is so pleasing with its chili sauce, but if it's not for you the war compliments it just dashingly as it's similar in context with out the sweet chili sauce. For creativity of the taste buds, you've got the JJ's #2 to really round out the palette with its avocado creaminess and spicy ending! As a person who was previously allergic to avocado. It was a pleasure to have it at the restaurant and get the full experience. It was such a great way to be introduced to something that once made me sick, and now I've grown to love and appreciate! Give JJ's a try if you're in the area, my 5 star should be an indication of the art and craft you'll find with this establishment. Thank you

There's a reason the lobby is empty. Easily the worst sushi experience I've ever had.

We decided to try a new sushi spot and had heard about JJ, so why not. I really tried to find something good to say about this first (and last) experience, but I'm struggling. 4 of us went and ordered all you can eat dinner- we ordered 9 rolls between the 4 of us a few muscles and one miso soup. The sushi was okay, the muscles were so dry we couldn't finish them (the first sushi spot I've hated the muscles), the service was also very inattentive. Our bill comes: Tell me why they decided to charge us for our most expensive roll (that we finished btw) ala carte on top of the all you can eat price? We would have paid less if we ordered them all separately! I can understand if a whole plate of sushi was left, but it was half a roll leftover- between 4 people! We only ordered 2.25 rolls each under the all you can eat. Talk about nickled and dimed! Do yourself a favor and eat elsewhere, the sushi was gross and overpriced- they used so much rice. We will never go back or recommend this sushi spot to anyone. What a Horrible experience.

Walked in on a Friday evening for dinner since I have been craving sushi and wanted to go somewhere close. They were really busy, but our table of 2 was seated quickly. The restaurant was small, but there is an option for table or bar seating. We got a table seat and opted for all you can eat. The price was $32.99 for dinner. For appetizers, we got mussels, seaweed salad, miso soup, and gyoza. The seaweed salad, gyoza, and miso soup was good and standard across most sushi places. The mussels were really good, but they limit two orders per person. We usually go for nigiri and a few long rolls. The fish was fresh, but the ratio for fish to rice in the nigiri was way off. There is too much rice for the amount of fish. If they removed 1/3 of the rice for each piece, it would have been perfect. I see they might be adding more rice to get you to feel full faster and they can save on the fish. The rolls we got were JJ, rainbow, and black tiger. Not very memorable to me. They give you the typical wasabi and ginger. The wasabi was spicy which I love! There were only two pieces of ginger and it was a good palate cleanser so we asked for more. The service here is great. All the servers helped each other and on top of collecting dirty plates since the tables are very small. They provide you with the papers to mark your order and are quick to bring you your appetizers. This was a good experience, but the ratio of rice and fish in the nigiri turned me off and I do not like how they limit orders on the popular appetizers especially for the price. They can accommodate larger parties, but they only have 1 table for groups larger than 4. Hopefully they will adjust the ratio of rice to fish in the nigiri and I will come back in the future.

Resturaunt was clean but the service was lacking on smiles upon entry. Food was just bland and all the rolls had similar taste. Nothing really popped. If paying for all you can eat, it should be all you can eat but they limit you only 2 orders of mussels per person? Way too much rice on the nigiri. Almost if they want you to fill up fast‍. Well, if that is the case, it worked! I dont usually frequent this place because there are much better sushi spots in town but didn't feel like going far so decided to give it another shot. Would I go again? Probably not. Sorry for the bad reveiw but just giving an honest opinion.

I have not been here in awhile, craving sushi and this place is close to home. I probably will not be back. The service wasn't great. I didn't feel welcomed. The sushi was bland and not that much flavor. They use a lot of rice on the nigiri, see pics in review, more than I have ever had in other sushi restaurants. The restaurant is clean and organized. The ginger is good too.

This is my neighborhood go-to for sushi. Staff is always friendly and the food is consistently great. It's relatively small but well laid out and comfortable no matter where you choose to sit. Tonight, my husband who has celiac joined me and the staff was very cautious and knowledgeable about what he could and could not consume. They had zero issue substituting the things he couldn't have for things he could, which he really appreciated.

Every roll I ordered was pretty good except for one that was just not for me. The service was great different people kept coming back to check on me. The location is small but very cute and well decorated. The price was average for all you can eat sushi. I would definitely visit again.

By far the worst sushi I have ever had in reno. I have been eating sushi for as long as I remember. And no place has ever given me as bad as of an experience that I received at JJs. 1. Like other reviews say, this place overpacks rolls and nigiri with rice. I was astonished at how much rice was included in each piece. The ratio was about 90/10 rice to sushi. 2.When the female host was confronted about this issue she immediately became very defensive, causing a scene to unfold for about 10-15 people to watch. We told her we were dissatisfied with the food, to which she had no real resolve. This situation probably lasted about 10 minutes of back and forth arguing with absolutely 0 resolve. We ended up paying for what we ordered with plans to dispute the charge. 3. The hothead chef with the stud ear rings and the asian tattoo on his neck was absolutely out of his mind. telling us to come back and "use his knife" multiple times, and making comments when we weren't even engaged in conversation with him. Keep in mind this guy was also confused when we asked for "belly cut" yellowtail- He knows absolutely nothing about the craft and would not stop mouthing off. The fact they allow this kind of disrespect to be shown over customers giving feedback about their food, that they are paying for is a slap in the face to the public and any sushi connoisseur. Go to someplace where you will be treated right. I recommend tokyo sushi, and ohana sushi. For context- the photo of rice on the plate is HALF of what was given with each piece of nigiri. We had to split it in half in order to eat it.

Best sushi restaurant in town! Food and flavors are so good. Jessie and Joe are always amazing as well and make you feel welcomed. My go-to sushi spot. No one compares. I recommend trying the killer if you like spice. I prefer it with no torch. But recommend you try it the way they designed it. The knight is also a great roll. The mango island is delicious as well. You really can't go wrong here. The Yakiton is a must try appetizer. Great atmosphere for a date night. It can get busy and be a little noisy because it's small but it has never bothered me.

The same woman was also our waitress, and it was obvious she was trying to do everything herself. She was waiting on about six tables while constantly yelling at the sushi chefs, the kitchen staff, and another employee. Unfortunately, she brought that same loud, frantic energy to every interaction with customers, which made for a very unpleasant dining experience. The food was disappointing. It lacked flavor, and the menu felt like it was trying to do too much. Being both a sushi bar and a hibachi restaurant seemed to hurt the overall quality. Two of us ordered the all-you-can-eat option, which ended up being a big mistake. Between the bland food and the slow service, we lost our appetites before we could really enjoy the meal. One final warning: check your bill carefully. We were a party of four, but we were automatically charged gratuity even though the menu states that gratuity is only added for parties of six or more. That was frustrating and should be corrected.

It's been about 4 years since the last time, I tried the food here and since I was hosting about 10 people at my home, I wanted to serve something simple and cost effective. My goto for this is Chinese food. I ordered chicken chow mein and stir fried mixed vegetables. It came in two trays and enough from probably closer to 15 people. So portions were good but the total bill was between $120-$130 about what I've come to expect here in Reno. Let's just say, I've traveled to several countries in Asia and lived most of my life in Northern CA eating quite a bit of Chinese food. This doesn't make my an expert but it would be fair to say, I am quite familiar with what is considered mainstream traditional Chinese cooking. But let's get to the food, with the caveat that I realize that everyone's preferences can vary widely when it comes to food. So my opinion is based on what one would find in Hong Kong and San Francisco. The chicken chow mein had all the correct ingredients, long noodles that were slightly thicker than say spaghetti, had the correct amount of softness without being mushy. Chicken was presented in slices and appeared to be white meat, there was some white onions thrown in there for some texture and flavor. Normally when I order chow mein, it isn't served with a brown "gravy". Not that this dish was swimming in it, but think of spaghetti with tomato sauce. Replace the red with medium dark brown and you get the picture. Now my guests who are Reno locals, thought it was great and flavorful. I would agree with the flavor part but it was much too saucy for my tastes. Would I try Chin Chin again for noodles? I'm not sure but the owner did state, they can make dishes any way I like, so perhaps I'll order off menu next time. The stir fried mixed vegetables is where I was most disappointed. Let's start with the ingredients. All were sliced in 2-3 inch pieces, which included button mushrooms, zuchinni, bamboo shoots, brocolli, carrots, and onions. This dish could have passed for a savory vegetable stew. There was a lot of gravy, so much so, that it colored all the vegetables brown, except for the carrots. The sauce had a slight "twang" to it, almost vinegar or worchester-like. Not my thing, I could not taste the individual flavors of the vegetables because of how heavy the sauce was. The brocolli was over cooked where the flowerette parts were pale. I prefer my vegetables to be just cooked, almost snappy. I would not order this dish again. No comments on the restaurant itself as both times I tried it, was for take out. So bottomline, would I try Chin Chin again? Yes but I will be very specific on how I would like my order prepared. Maybe for their lunch special.
