Amaaaaaziiiinggg!! Best spot I have found in the area and pretty good deal for the all you can eat sushi. Server was great and attentive and food came out FAST! Everything was so fresh tasting. My boyfriend who never cared for sushi now really loves it because of this spot.

Honest dine-in review: Make sure to sit at the bar to get the best experience of all you can eat: 5/5 One of the best things Reno has to offer is the "all you can eat" experience, because it really is.... All you can eat! You can't go wrong with a full staff experience where you have a team of chefs preparing your meals in front of you dare I say? Flawlessly? We watched as training was going on for customer service, table side manners, and just attention to detail in the preparation, the presentation, and the timeliness of dinner time rush. -Appetizers: 5/5 My picks for you if I had to choose 3 would be: Yakitan, gyoza, and mussels they are dishes that will get you ready for the freshness of your dish. Made to order. They're savory and fatty to the bite and swallow to help you prepare for the rice you're about to inhale. Between a sweet, savory bite from the gyoza and yakitan. You're then followed up by a sea forward spicy rich and almost creamy texture from the mussels. Absolutely delicious! Ngiri/Makki: 5/5 Look, it's hard to find fresh off the boat fish in Nevada. So it's an art to say that when you bite these cuts, you're getting a premium bite. Paired with some rich and intricate recipes. You've got a bite that your adventurous sushi lovers are going to love. My top 3 out of 7 recommendations for the night go as follows: pink lady, the war, and JJ's #2 The pink lady is so pleasing with its chili sauce, but if it's not for you the war compliments it just dashingly as it's similar in context with out the sweet chili sauce. For creativity of the taste buds, you've got the JJ's #2 to really round out the palette with its avocado creaminess and spicy ending! As a person who was previously allergic to avocado. It was a pleasure to have it at the restaurant and get the full experience. It was such a great way to be introduced to something that once made me sick, and now I've grown to love and appreciate! Give JJ's a try if you're in the area, my 5 star should be an indication of the art and craft you'll find with this establishment. Thank you

Every roll I ordered was pretty good except for one that was just not for me. The service was great different people kept coming back to check on me. The location is small but very cute and well decorated. The price was average for all you can eat sushi. I would definitely visit again.

By far the worst sushi I have ever had in reno. I have been eating sushi for as long as I remember. And no place has ever given me as bad as of an experience that I received at JJs. 1. Like other reviews say, this place overpacks rolls and nigiri with rice. I was astonished at how much rice was included in each piece. The ratio was about 90/10 rice to sushi. 2.When the female host was confronted about this issue she immediately became very defensive, causing a scene to unfold for about 10-15 people to watch. We told her we were dissatisfied with the food, to which she had no real resolve. This situation probably lasted about 10 minutes of back and forth arguing with absolutely 0 resolve. We ended up paying for what we ordered with plans to dispute the charge. 3. The hothead chef with the stud ear rings and the asian tattoo on his neck was absolutely out of his mind. telling us to come back and "use his knife" multiple times, and making comments when we weren't even engaged in conversation with him. Keep in mind this guy was also confused when we asked for "belly cut" yellowtail- He knows absolutely nothing about the craft and would not stop mouthing off. The fact they allow this kind of disrespect to be shown over customers giving feedback about their food, that they are paying for is a slap in the face to the public and any sushi connoisseur. Go to someplace where you will be treated right. I recommend tokyo sushi, and ohana sushi. For context- the photo of rice on the plate is HALF of what was given with each piece of nigiri. We had to split it in half in order to eat it.

Walked in on a Friday evening for dinner since I have been craving sushi and wanted to go somewhere close. They were really busy, but our table of 2 was seated quickly. The restaurant was small, but there is an option for table or bar seating. We got a table seat and opted for all you can eat. The price was $32.99 for dinner. For appetizers, we got mussels, seaweed salad, miso soup, and gyoza. The seaweed salad, gyoza, and miso soup was good and standard across most sushi places. The mussels were really good, but they limit two orders per person. We usually go for nigiri and a few long rolls. The fish was fresh, but the ratio for fish to rice in the nigiri was way off. There is too much rice for the amount of fish. If they removed 1/3 of the rice for each piece, it would have been perfect. I see they might be adding more rice to get you to feel full faster and they can save on the fish. The rolls we got were JJ, rainbow, and black tiger. Not very memorable to me. They give you the typical wasabi and ginger. The wasabi was spicy which I love! There were only two pieces of ginger and it was a good palate cleanser so we asked for more. The service here is great. All the servers helped each other and on top of collecting dirty plates since the tables are very small. They provide you with the papers to mark your order and are quick to bring you your appetizers. This was a good experience, but the ratio of rice and fish in the nigiri turned me off and I do not like how they limit orders on the popular appetizers especially for the price. They can accommodate larger parties, but they only have 1 table for groups larger than 4. Hopefully they will adjust the ratio of rice to fish in the nigiri and I will come back in the future.

Resturaunt was clean but the service was lacking on smiles upon entry. Food was just bland and all the rolls had similar taste. Nothing really popped. If paying for all you can eat, it should be all you can eat but they limit you only 2 orders of mussels per person? Way too much rice on the nigiri. Almost if they want you to fill up fast‍. Well, if that is the case, it worked! I dont usually frequent this place because there are much better sushi spots in town but didn't feel like going far so decided to give it another shot. Would I go again? Probably not. Sorry for the bad reveiw but just giving an honest opinion.

I have not been here in awhile, craving sushi and this place is close to home. I probably will not be back. The service wasn't great. I didn't feel welcomed. The sushi was bland and not that much flavor. They use a lot of rice on the nigiri, see pics in review, more than I have ever had in other sushi restaurants. The restaurant is clean and organized. The ginger is good too.

This is my neighborhood go-to for sushi. Staff is always friendly and the food is consistently great. It's relatively small but well laid out and comfortable no matter where you choose to sit. Tonight, my husband who has celiac joined me and the staff was very cautious and knowledgeable about what he could and could not consume. They had zero issue substituting the things he couldn't have for things he could, which he really appreciated.

The service was excellent from the servers to the chefs. The place looks typical with enough seating at the bar, which is great for people who prefer to sit at the bar like my family does, and ample table seating for those who don't. All the chefs are very mindful and pay attention to your requests. My family does not particularly like any sauce on our sushi and they have consistently made sure to either ask us if we wanted a particular sauce like sriracha or ponzu. Very pleased with the service when we go there. The only downside is that they use a lot of rice. I mean, a lot! They do have a wide selection of sushi, and their raw fish is always fresh for every time we went there. So no complaints when it comes to freshness. It's just that there's more rice than fish that you get full right away. Gone there 3 times and would be willing to go back again if I'm in the Sparks area. I wonder if they're willing to accommodate that f I request for a lot less rice? With the awesome accommodating chefs they have, they just might. I'll ask the next time I go and will update for sure.

Best sushi restaurant in town! Food and flavors are so good. Jessie and Joe are always amazing as well and make you feel welcomed. My go-to sushi spot. No one compares. I recommend trying the killer if you like spice. I prefer it with no torch. But recommend you try it the way they designed it. The knight is also a great roll. The mango island is delicious as well. You really can't go wrong here. The Yakiton is a must try appetizer. Great atmosphere for a date night. It can get busy and be a little noisy because it's small but it has never bothered me.

Came by Saturday afternoon for some AYCE. We normally frequent another sushi place but we're in the area. The fried lemon one is DELICIOUS even though I am a raw sushi fan. I eat it paired with salmon nigiri. The salmon nigiri was delicious and fresh. I love that they immediately include lemon as that is how it is done! The other rolls were great! There was not one that we didn't like. The bite sizes could have been a bit smaller or with a little less rice. The service was great and quick. The servers were fast with taking our AYCE sushi forms and appetizers followed quickly. We were checked on enough and drinks were refilled when about halfway. The place had plenty of seating and we were seated quickly but was filling up fast! I do recommend going before the lunch rush as it seemed to have faster service than with everyone else.

Did not expect the level of quality and service we experienced here at JJ's Sushi. Busy spot in a neighborhood strip mall. Service was first rate and pretty fast. The owner is here literally every day making sure customers are happy. This place is small but the Sushi is mighty.

    JJ's #2.... Always my favorite.
    Adrienne N.

It had been a while since I had sushi, especially JJ's. I am so glad we were able to make it for dinner. We walked in before the rush on a Sunday night and we received all of our rolls and nigri very quickly and oh so delicious. We have always sat at tables when we visited, but the last two times we sat at the bar. The employees are busy making counter and table. No matter how busy they are able to get rolls out FAST. We always do a usual and try a new roll; we are never disappointed!

Here is the rice roll. Seriously, they just heap rice to avoid focus on their fish quality. The salmon was room Temp and fishy.

I finally decided to opt out of my usual Miso ramen order and try the donburi. My absolute favorite appetizers are the karaage chicken and takoyaki, it is very hard to find quality of either in town and each order has never been less than great. The menu is detailed and include vegetarian and vegan options. I had the chicken curry katsudon, the chicken was breaded and fried well, and the curry contained potatoes, carrots, and onions, yet it felt really heavy on the carrots, and I couldn't finish them all. My partner had the Kuro ramen, which he gets every time, but this time level 3 spice didn't seem spicy. Whenever we order to-go, it is visibly clear when it is level 3. The service was fast and friendly for a Thursday night, the lychee martini and draft Sapporo that we always order still tasted as good as ever.

Unfortunately, we waited over an hour and a half for our food with their shortage of workers. It could've been more efficient if Yumi didn't have to slave away in the back by herself while her husband was hanging out with us. Dining experience was unique in terms of interactions with the owners. I'd like to see their business thrive, however, as an shabu shabu enthusiast, I would not return here.
