Spicy Pork Bulgogi Bibimbap
Jill C.

So much yum! Excited that this place is on the edge of Reno close to the Cali border. We all got bibimbap bowls full of fresh and tasty ingredients, topped with our choice of sauce and toppings! Meat was super juicy with the right amount of spice. Veggies were fresh and vibrant. Service was very friendly and patient with us as we were new to all the options and choices. Great spot we are eager to come back to!

I ordered 3 teriyaki chicken bibimbap bowls to go, they were good. The bowls had a lot of chicken in them! Actually, I wouldn't have minded a little more of the other ingredients. I saw in their picture online where I ordered that it had carrots in it but I didn't see a place where I could add them so I thought they might come with but they didn't:( The miso cup was only 1/3 full, we like miso so that was a bummer. Maybe because it was a to-go order they don't fill them up all the way? Otherwise it was still a very filling bowl.

We visited Kokos Bowls for the first time and were pleasantly surprised. You choose the ingredients for your bowls and everything is fresh and prepared very flavorfully. My husband had the poke bowl with ahi tuna, crab and various other items and sauces-it was so good! I had the teriyaki chicken bowl over rice with edamame, broccoli and green onions. Miso soup was served with both. Friendly, helpful service and great food!

This is the first visit since they've changed from Koko's Kitchen to Bowls. We order at the counter, building your own bowls, in Poke style. We, a party of three, had all different bowls, and everything was great! The staff was really kind, and the attention to details, making sure we get freshly prepared food at the same time, is wonderful. The bowls are beautifully presented, the spicy bulgogi is flavorful, picked daikon is crispy, and the brown rice is perfectly cooked. Also the portion is just right. I loved everything about it! We will be back, and next time I'm definitely trying the Korean waffle sweets (the Korean version of Taiyaki, I think).

We called ahead and asked if they accept pets, they said no problem, "we are dog friendly" and we go in and wait 20 minutes while they serve two customers. Nobody else was in the restaurant. and after 20 minutes they tell us "pets not allowed" I said, "we called ahead" and she said that was a misunderstanding. I then asked "why would you wait 20 minutes to tell us . the rude lady's reply, "we were helping other customers". I said, all that would've been needed was a quick "hey no dogs allowed" when we entered the door. She was completely rude. I will never return again. The place is totally dead, and this was over the lunch hour. I am not sure how they stay in business. Avoid.

Hands down the best bimbimbop place in Reno it's def made with love. The beef was so tender & yummy & the pork was perfectly cooked. The service was so good and I couldnt ask for anything better.

Wanted poke so we got some poke. Their decor in here is super cute and it is very inviting. The people working the counter were friendly, fast and informative. Killer deal on their Mon-Fri lunch specials. Poke bowl was very filling and came with soup not bad portions for $13.99. Bibimbap bowl was beautifully put together and looked delicious also. $16.99 for a monstrous size bowl and soup on the side!! We did tempura shrimp as our appetizer which were also, beautifully cooked. FRESHEST SELECTION AND FOOD FOR THIS SERVING STYLE I HAVE SEEN YET. VERY CLEAN AND VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER.

This place was absolutely amazing! Chongsuk was so incredibly helpful and patient since it was my first time! She helped me decide on the Spicy Pork Bulgogi! It wasn't too spicy and had an amazing texture! I also tried the picked radishes and even though i'm not a fan of normal radishes these were the so delicious and added an amazing texture! It also came with a side of miso which was pretty good! Inside was also so pretty and incredibly clean! I'm so glad i decided to come here! I definitely will be coming back again and asking for more recommendations!!

I really enjoyed the ambiance here, felt very welcoming and the little paper lanterns were a nice touch. The staff were very friendly and the food was prompt. I got a teriyaki chicken bibimbap bowl and my husband got a beef bowl, my son got tempura shrimp (the appetizer) and a side of miso soup. Everything was good! I liked the selection of toppings offered. The pickled daikon and kimchi were both crisp and flavorful, next time I'll ask for extra! My husband's beef was very delicious, well seasoned and had a great overall flavor. My chicken was a little on the under seasoned side, and I feel like I couldn't really identify the two sauces I asked for. I also think my crispy toppings were forgotten, or I definitely needed more because I couldn't find them in there at all. The tempura shrimp was great, fresh and crispy and all three of us enjoyed the miso soup! The wasabi I got in my bowl had an odd flavor I didn't enjoy and the crab salad had a fishier taste than I'm used to, so I might skip those next time. We tried some of the special sodas offered and really enjoyed them, especially the strawberry cream one! My husband was already trying to figure out how to order a flat of them Overall this seems like a great spot. We are moving to this side of town so I'm sure we will be back. I look forward to trying the poke!

A really solid poke bowl, and the miso soup was good too! The place is quiet and I couldn't find it at first, but I'm glad I found it. The service was really good, the employees were very nice and helpful.

The porky ribs have potential but It was too lightly drizzled when it needed to be drowned in that sweet and tangy sauce. It was also cooked rather dry on the exterior but the interior was nicely juicy and tender. The bulgogi bowl was actually spicy pork instead of beef. It wasn't that bad, but it wasn't that great either. The tofu soup was solid. It hit all the right spots and was comfort food personified. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Overall, I am sure there are other items that might hit the spot and I would love to return and try a selection of entrees another time. Service was definitely top notch, Harry was the absolute best!

SIU Korean barbecue is solid Korean barbecue restaurant. I've come here many times over the years…read moreand appreciate the authenticity of the menu and experience. The menu is full of cups of meat and not found at the other KBBQ restaurant and generally speaking quality is there on all of it. We enjoyed the birthday celebration here the other night, and discovered a few new favorites, including the pork GALBI, which is delicious, sweet, tender cuts of lean pork marinated in the sweet sowing which grows up wonderfully and delivers a nice char. I also am a huge fan of the Sydney slice of beef tongue that cooks chicken. Did that in a little bit of sesame oil salt or add a bit of the seasoning spice from your condiment tray and throw that in lettuce or radish wrap, and you are set. They also offer a couple of specialty cuts at dinner only like the thousand stripe and premium GALBI, which is a crosscut beef short rib. I personally think their short rib is the best in town as it comes out nicely marinated and extremely tender with just the right amount of fat versus some of the others that I've tried which have a substantial amount of fat versus meat. There was also a specialty cut of fatty pork that I cannot remember the Korean Nemo, but that took a long time to cook, even though it was in sliced, but then result was this delightfully crispy piece of meat that could be eaten on its own or added to another wrap that you were creating and was quite enjoyable. The reason for decreasing into four stars is just service. That's where the other KBBQ has this place beat. Part of a we were seated at two tables right next to each other and for some reason, it seemed one table received more attention than the other and after a point it seemed that the server just stopped coming back altogether, and they also forgot items multiple times throughout the meal left water glasses on filled and didn't clear place on the act. Normally not a big deal but you're consuming so much as a larger party and you're dealing with brought meat. You are putting your diners at risk for not helping to make sure that we maintain a clean and sanitary dining experience. Even to the end of the meal, the server did not come back to see if we wanted to order more food or bring us a check and I had to get up and go to the front to ask for it. Lastly, I was shocked that they did not have any hot sake in the restaurant to order nor did they offer any type of dessert either included or for purchase. We came to celebrate a birthday and can't be the only people that stop here for special occasions, so I would assume that there are people that want that when they're dying here and it was just surprising to hear that. Again, this is a great Korean barbecue spot and then I will certainly return to you and hope that the service experience improved so that the dining experience overall is that much better.

Yelp Elites Michael T and Kathy B are right about the meat sweats!! It's been a few weeks since we went so I can't recall all of the meats we tried, but the spicy pork belly is one I remember as it was delightful. The kimchi stew is INCREDIBLE, and I enjoyed the banchan a lot. Depending on where you sit, either a server or robot cart with a cute face will deliver your food and drink. I'm generally anti-robot, but these are adorable! The ambiance is nice, but prepare to get pretty smoky. They do a great job of swapping grills often to prevent some of this, but smoke happens. Definitely will be back in the future!

We've got our order dialed, but if I had more opportunities to dine with friends, I'd surely expand it. Can't miss items include the seafood pancake, KFC, spicy soft tofu soup, and the spicy pork bulgogi. All of these dishes work well together and make a great family style meal. In the past I've been a fan of the jjyolmeon too. It's got a sweet side but a nice spicy kick, packed with crisp veggies, all over chewy noodles. It's a vegetarian dish and a nice compliment to some of the protein heavy offerings. I would say adding a protein to this dish would make a great meal, and that's something I haven't tried yet. Their banchan slaps too. There's typically a traditional kimchi and another version, both of which are quite good and I usually ask for more at some point during the meal. They offer a rotating selection of banchan along with them that range from contemporary to classic. I will say I wish they'd change this up a bit because it makes for a fresh experience. I also wish they'd bring the black beans in from time to time. Service is stellar and ever present. They've made some special orders come true for my kids as well and that's always meaningful. Go.

Husband and I got 5 pieces of fried chicken to start: was delicious apart from the thick ketchup based sauce it was drenched in. It got all over the sides of my mouth and I had to clean off the extra sauce by wiping the chicken with my napkin, and when I ran out of the single napkin I was given, had to wipe it on my rice. Ridiculous. I got the beef short rib soup and husband got the assorted soft tofu soup. Both were good but not amazing, 3 stars, but came with a tiny bowl of rice the size of my palm. Extra rice which my husband asked for cost $3.50. My short rib soup had a few small pieces of short rib, nothing special. At least mine wasn't salty, but my husband thought his was. Meal came with 6 small banchan. Again nothing special, just an assortment of plant based foods. Might get takeout for the soups in the future, but not coming back for a mediocre meal of almost $70. This is the only Korean spot in South Reno so they do have a monopoly over this cuisine, but I suggest you go to Sparks instead unless you're truly desperate.

The rich New Zealand stir fried lamb and shiitake mushrooms over pea shoots was a fabulous hearty dish on this chilly March evening. The braised short ribs were so tender no knife was needed, they flaked apart with the fork. And the e mein noodles were perfectly al dente.
