We ordered with their "To Go Special" on rolls, which is a great feature to have. Food was ready quick and it was tasty. Staff were all very friendly. I had ordered a Tornado roll instead of a Hurricane, but they were very similar so it was only a slight inconvenience of the unexpected spice from the hot sauce. It's been a while, so we decided to stop for some Sushi tonight. I wasn't hungry enough for AYCE, so I ordered A-La-Carte. I ordered 2 rolls, the Pisces and the Gemini. I've complained about the presentation before and unfortunately, I have the same complaint about the presentation this time too. The rolls just looked sloppy. I also found them to be a bit unbalanced. Too much rice, too much crab mix and too much of the sweet stuff. I don't think I should've been as stuffed as I was with 2 rolls, but I couldn't finish them. The service also fell flat. We were attended to promptly and our order came out correctly, but I found our server to be impersonal and in a rush. I called about 30 minutes before they closed to place a to go order. They were super nice and accommodating. The food was ready (even cooked rolls!) in about 10 minutes. They have a great to go special of 3 rolls for only 24! Such a good deal and the sushi was delicious. I usually go to kumo but they're always like almost unbearably busy. I called them first and they said they cannot take a to go order 45 minutes before closing bc they're too busy. I feel I found a great less busy version of kumo. Portions were good (I ate a few pieces before taking the picture!) and sushi was delicious and fresh. Packaged well. They gave us plenty of soy sauce and wasabi. I will be back. My nephew's in town visiting--always such a treat! After work, we were craving sushi and needed a nearby spot, and Pieces Sushi hit the mark perfectly. We arrived around 2:00 PM and got seated right away (a perk of going off-hours--I bet dinner gets busy!). Service was fast and friendly, and our sushi arrived in record time, beautifully plated and absolutely delicious. The dining area was spotless, with plenty of seating and just the right lighting to keep things cozy and relaxed. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because the roll selection was a bit limited, and I couldn't find any hand rolls on the menu. Would I go back? Absolutely! My family and I are frequent patrons to this restaurant. However, after my to go odor the other day that what's my last time. The sushi I ordered with soggy and mushy. I took a few bites and just couldn't continue to eat it. I called the restaurant to let the manager know and the only thing he said was he was sorry. My daughter and I both got really horrible stomach aches, lasted for an evening, my daughter for several days. That said I will never patronize this place again. Great restaurant with decent sushi. My personal preference is to order pick up (they have pick up specials which is a great deal!) For someone who doesn't need to consume all you can eat, you can order 4 rolls for $30, take it home and have a date night with a movie! We tried this place once around 3 or 4 years ago and at that time were not impressed. Despite this place being literally less than a 5 minute drive from our home we finally returned (on a whim; my son insisted he wanted to try it). This time was totally different. To make sure before posting this review we went once more-- both of these visits (once for dinner and once for AYCE at lunch) were great. The food was fresh, the rolls were light (we are not fans of dense rice in our rolls), and the prices were reasonable. While each roll we tried was unique we agreed that many of the rolls tasted extremely similar. My son loved the pot stickers (4 pieces for $4 à la carte). I will say service could be tightened up a bit (was a bit slow at times, would have been nice to have napkin refills and water refills as needed-- especially at a table with young children). The cleanliness was satisfactory but there were sone rips in the bench seat. Overall, this isn't the very best sushi place is Reno but it's not bad. It's a good enough option if it's close and you don't want to drive across town or deal with longer waits. read more

First timer, not a local. Here because of all the good local reviews from both Elite and Non-Elite reviewers. Solid 3 stars for the first experience. Seated at the bar right at 8:30PM , hostess had to question "ya know we close in 30 minutes?" There are so many ways to put that out there without the snotty question. Minus 1 start just for that. My sushi chef was very polite, he loved that I knew exactly what I wanted and proceeded to get me 9 of the largest sliced sashimi cuts I've ever had. Tried the Blue Moon hand roll and loved it!! Why minus another star, the sashimi was clearly from frozen tonight. It's gonnna happen from time to time. Loved the quick easy access close to my hotel, and no frills on the ambience. It's clean and has a good appearance for strip mall dining. I'll be back and looking to up the review another star. Too many good 4 and 5 star reviews to discount the first experience. read more

I've had a lot of AYCE sushi at a variety of places but this was my first time at Pisces. What I loved? A limited but inclusive menu with just the right number of rolls to choose from. Also, like most sushi places there are going to be a few rolls that you will love and I certainly found a few here. Service was fast and efficient however we did briefly get served someone else's rolls. Thankfully we caught it and they were able to redirect them to the right people. We had to wait for a forgotten Cotton Candy but when it arrived, it became a favorite. A little crunch with a lot of flavor. They put a LOT of crab mix on the rolls that come with them but I was amused by a rainbow roll that literally came with a pile of crab mix on the plate. Most of the food was fresh. The seating was nice and comfortable and it has a welcoming atmosphere. I can see why it's my friend's favorite place. I hate leaving this review because I genuinely want this place to succeed and I would love to have a solid restaurant close to home. Unfortunately, after being here about a half dozen times, the experience has continued to get worse instead of better. There is almost no sense of hospitality or dining experience. It feels more like a mediocre café than a restaurant. You order your food, it arrives, and that is the extent of the interaction. There are no check backs, no one asking if the food is good, and no real engagement. If something is wrong, you have to go out of your way to address it yourself. The food itself is disappointing. On my most recent visit, I was served entirely by someone who was clearly being trained as a non traditional sushi chef and had little understanding of what they were doing. Training has to happen somewhere, but when that person is the only one serving you, the guest experience suffers significantly. The menu is already limited beyond sauce heavy rolls, so I tried nigiri, which was very limited, and a roll with crab mix. The crab mix was completely dry and lacked any freshness. I have also given feedback in the past about basic food safety concerns, such as not holding tempura shrimp at room temperature. Despite that, I still had to ask for it to be made fresh during this visit. Even small details feel careless. When the ginger, cucumber, and wasabi were brought out, they were slopped onto the plate with no care or presentation, almost as if another dish had been sitting on top of them. There is a noticeable lack of pride in how the food is handled and presented. What makes this especially frustrating is the location. This is South Reno, and if even a moderate amount of effort were applied, this place would do extremely well. There are plenty of average and even bad restaurants in the area that are consistently full. I am sure this place does fine business wise, but it is disappointing how little attention seems to be paid to execution and consistency. Cost control also appears misguided. Rolls are made noticeably small, yet if you ask for a sauce or condiment, you are given far more than necessary, which creates unnecessary waste. With better portion control and awareness, standard sized rolls could likely be served without negatively impacting food cost. I want to be clear that this feedback comes from frustration, not malice. It feels like ownership or management is on vacation most of the time, and that lack of presence shows in the details and the execution. I genuinely want this place to be better. I would welcome a conversation, as I have more specific and actionable feedback to share. I am not looking for anything for free. I simply want to see you succeed and become a place I am excited to return to. read more

It has been at least 3 years since we've eaten at Pisces Sushi; the restaurant's decor has remained unchanged or changed very little and was still fairly empty when we arrived for lunch last Saturday, but the staff seemed completely different, all the sushi chefs behind the bar and waitresses looked unfamiliar to me. Nevertheless, we had a seat at a table and proceeded to order drinks, appetizers and sushi. The service was efficient and modestly friendly. Most of our orders arrived at our table quickly, even the baked long rolls. All the food was well-crafted and we devoured every single morsel with the utmost relish. I am a loyal sushi customer to my favorite sushi joint. However I dinned here at Pisces Sushi for a nieces birthday and was pleasantly impressed. There is a great variety of sushi options. We were a party of 13 with a reservation and experienced no problems getting sat down. The service is attentive and friendly. A delicious place to grab all you can eat sushi. There wasn't really a plate I ordered that I disliked. The atmosphere is that of many sushi restaurants around town, but the real star of the show was the funny cook behind the glass that was telling jokes and adding quips to every order made. The only issue I had was that they added three extra drinks to the tab we didn't order. Overall the staff is fun and light hearted, the food is Delicious and the location is in a nice area. Incredible every single time. We love Pisces and enjoy our visits whether we go for lunch or dinner. Both prices for AYCE are reasonable and worth everything that is included. The service is excellent, the space is clean, and has a relaxing atmosphere. Our absolute favorite things are probably the appetizers and then the Nigiri. I am obsessed with the Mickey Mouse and the Donald Duck. And there are many rolls we enjoy such as the Lemon Light, and Eclipse. The Eclipse is a deep fried roll with shredded crab, salmon and onion. The Lemon Light is under Maki rolls and is cream cheese, avocado, tempura shrimp, salmon, thin slices of lemon, and shredded crab. These are definitely a favorite for us. During COVID, Pisces started offering takeout roll discounts and (it's 2025) and they still do it! I fully recognize I might not be the normal customer because I've only dined in once and it was before 2020. However, Pisces is my south Reno sushi spot! I call ahead and order four rolls for takeout. They always answer the phone and give a reasonable expected timeline of when the food will be ready. Then I go and pick it up. Half of the time, they greet me by my name. The staff is always very friendly and the sushi rolls travel well. We do this pretty often and I appreciate that I have a consistent experience each time from ordering, to pickup, to taste and quality. 4 rolls is about perfect for dinner at home for two. Went in at 11:15 AM to get their 3 rolls to go special, I requested handrolls, was told I couldn't. They've done it every single time before. The gal proceeded to tell me about her morning and how she had to make a list of what the closing crew didn't do... one of which was take utensils out of the ginger & wasabi and/or wrap them up. It took almost 25 minutes to get my order and during that time I watched the gal, numerous times, and I mean numerous, take the palm of her hand and wipe her nose in an upward motion... even on the floor while delivering food. When I mentioned it to her the response was "it is a nervous habit". I responded with "I get it, but your not washing your hands"... she got irritated with me. I watched her wipe her nose and then got drinks to take to a couple at the bar. Because she wouldn't let me do the handrolls I settled for the long rolls. I drove 30 minutes to try this place since another restaurant I wanted was closed that day. One of the reviews mentioned it had a dog-friendly atmosphere, so I brought my Maltipoo with me.
