My sister and her family took me to lunch at Jazmine on Saturday; when we arrived at the restaurant, they had just opened for lunch service, there were only a couple of groups dining; so there ample seating to accommodate our 5-person party. The young lady sat our party at a huge table right by the entrance. Our very nice server (Ishmael I believe he said his name was), checked in and took our drinks and our food orders. Our entire party ordered a couple of appetizers: miso soup, tempura vegetables, salt-and-pepper fried chicken wings, cucumber salads and seaweed salad, plus some sushi: a couple of quail-egg shooters, some nigiris, a couple of hand rolls, and a few long rolls. The drinks and appetizers arrived at our table quickly; I especially liked the sauce on the cucumber salad, and I liked that the seaweed salad wasn't slimy- it was perfect. Unfortunately, I found the salt-and-pepper chicken wings to be a little too salty-forward but the tempura vegetables were fantastic. After a short wait, three of our long rolls arrived at the table-- unfortunately, it was all the rolls my nephew ordered so the rest of us had to wait for the rest of the sushi but our server was apologetic because he explained that they only had one sushi chef that morning; which was fine because he told us ahead of time. By this point in the day, a few more customers had arrived at the restaurant, most of the customers opting to order from the restaurant's Chinese Food menu rather than sushi. Fortunately, the rest of our sushi orders arrived in two great platters plus a couple of single plates for the stragglers. All the sushi looked amazing, fish to rice portions were so generous and the chef masterfully assembled each sushi with expert precision; I especially liked my scallop hand-roll and the saba nigiris we ordered were lip-puckering brine-y, just the we we liked it because it's so refreshing and a perfect palette-cleanser between sushi bites. I also enjoyed their quail egg-shooters; it was a nice, sharp change of flavor profile from the more subtler-tasting bites of sushi. Our entire party enjoyed all the food and everyone ate their fill but the best part of our meal was the service: both the young men serving our table were superb, they were very professional and polite; the efficiently replenished drinks, cleared empty dishes and consistently checked in to asked if our party needed anything. They were great; our whole dining experience was great.

I haven't gone here in a while and decided to meet up with a friend for lunch here. We were sat immediately and offered water and both the sushi and Chinese food menu. They no longer have a lunch menu, just main menu to order dishes ala carte from. We settled on the black pepper lamb and the seafood tofu hot pot dish and one side of steamed rice. Food came promptly and food was nice and hot. Both dishes were delicious and portion was enough for two people to share. The side of rice was tiny, so you will have to order a side of rice for each person as one side wasn't enough for two people. Our server checked on us a few times during our lunch which was nice. All in all a nice dining experience, such a change from the last time I visited this restaurant.

We went here for the first time the other night. Plenty of parking in the plaza. Lots of tables and booths including larger family style round tables plus a bar that you could eat at with large tv. Staff are all friendly and helpful. I don't think my water glass ever got empty. Everyone worked so well together. It was a nice time and we really enjoyed the food. Very flavorful and good portions. We ordered potstickers and the bbq pork as appetizers. You get 4 potstickers in an order and let me say they were huge. Four was definitely enough and some of the potstickers I've had in a very long time. The bbq pork was flavorful and you get 8 pieces; smaller in size comparison to the potstickers but it was perfect. We also ordered 3 dishes to share: Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, and shrimp chow mein. Everything was so tasty. The Mongolian beef had a little heat kick on the back end, but not overpowering. I was pleasantly surprised by the sweet and sour chicken. It was perfectly cooked, nice and tender. Flavors for all dishes we ordered were on point. We even took the leftovers home and had it the next day for lunch...still fantastic. It was a little pricey but to be honest it was worth it in my opinion. We'd go back again to try other dishes including their sushi and maybe see what it's like during lunch.

It's been a while since we last visited Jasmine. We were pleasantly surprised with our visit. We were seated immediately at dinner time and received a booth. The vibe is very romantic, chill, contemporary and relaxing. We ordered the Cashew Chicken and a roll from the sushi menu. Both were delicious The chicken was white meat which I always appreciate. The veggies in the sauce were perfect Our Shrimp roll was outstanding!

First time here. We ordered sushi, udon noodles with chicken, and sesame chicken. Also an appetizer of pot stickers. Everything was fresh and tasty. Portions were nice size. Staff were friendly and helpful. They weren't hovering or intrusive; they were at our table as needed. I especially want to thank our server as we were celebrating my cousin's birthday and at the end of the meal, she brought out a complementary scoop of their chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream with a candle to celebrate. Absolutely perfect! Parking is plentiful, but the lot was rather crazy with construction going on and dust blowing everywhere. Be careful. All in all, we will return to try more menu items.

Exceptional authentic Chinese food and personalized service! I've been a fan of Chef Da for years--he consistently produces some of the best Chinese food in town. I've watched him master his craft over the past 12+ years, and it truly shows in every dish. I'm excited for Chef Da and his family as they take over the landmark Jaszin Restaurant. Well deserved, and I wish them continued success. Highly recommended!

OH MY! This place is SPECTACULAR!! From the gorgeous red ambiance to crispy general chicken. This place will make you feel like home even if you eat alone (there's a couple cozy booths which don't make you feel like your sitting in the middle of a party where they watch you competitive eat ). The service was so ON POINT it felt like you were in the middle of the Beauty and the Beast dining experience in which everything was brought out immediately. Ask for service from Mark! And I truly appreciate the owner being the chef as well. Very well done. Wish you years of success!

There are 2 Egg Rolls in the order at Jasmine.

I had not been to Jazmine in years, but I do remember liking it. Unfortunately, tonight I just wasn't happy with our dinner. We started with an order of Egg Rolls. I'm not sure if they just needed to be fried longer, but they seemed mushy and overly greasy to the bite. The sweet sauce was also kind of watery, so I wasn't getting the flavor. Usually, it tends to be thicker. We ordered several plates to share. The Jasmine Rice, Jasmine Beef and the Chicken Seafood Combo. Both the rice and Chicken Seafood Combo were tasty, although a bit too greasy. The Jasmine Beef on the other hand was chewy and inedible. I was really surprised because in the description it specifically said "tenderized Flank Steak", which gave me the impression I would be getting a melt-in-your-mouth steak. I immediately returned it and our server let us order something else. I gave up on beef and went with Kung Pao Chicken instead, which was really good. I do want to say our server was very apologetic and did everything he could to rectify our dislike of the Jasmine Steak and also were not charged for either dish. I was greatful and happy that they cared enough to make it right for us. This restaurant has wonderful ambiance, with dim lighting and nice decor. Hoping that our negative experience was just a one-time occurance and we can enjoy great meals in the future. I do know that in general, everything was too greasy for my taste.

Jazmine has finally changed ownership, and it's undoubtedly for the better. The Chinese cuisine is high-quality, thanks to Chef Da, the owner, is a culinary mastermind and one of the best chefs in Reno. His dishes are ridiculously crave-worthy. I believe Jasmine is going to be the next top-rated Chinese restaurant in Reno. The prices are reasonable compared to other Asian restaurants in Reno. We went all out and our total came out to be $150, which was a steal. The fried calamari was insane, the wor wonton soup was a flavor explosion, and the honey shrimp was cooked to perfection. The Jasmine fried rice and chow mein were also spot on, and the presentation was on point. The swai fish was a tad light, but still packed a punch, and the seared pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Trust me, you won't go wrong with anything on the menu. You'll be stuffed and sliding into a food coma in no time! We had an incredible experience, thanks to Jazmine's team, particularly David and chef Da whose kindness, consideration, and warm hospitality left a lasting impression. We had a truly exceptional lunch!

Everything was wonderful, especially the Cantonese-style steamed chicken. It was incredibly tender, flavorful, and tasted so authentic. We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back.

    Sea Bass

After a long day exploring Virginia City and Genoa, my family of 12 arrived at Jazmine Restaurant feeling a bit irritable and very hungry. All annoyances were immediately set aside the moment we entered. The vibrant, professional staff were the perfect complement to the calm, elegant dining room. Jazmine Restaurant's customer service and setting are absolutely top-notch. We ordered a multi-course, family-style meal. Each dish arrived quickly and at the ideal temperature, in hearty portions, and everything--from the soup to the snow peas, squid, lamb shanks, and lobster chow mein--was delicious. In particular, the sea bass was absolutely perfect. It's incredible that they are able to source such fresh seafood, let alone cook it to perfection. Reno has numerous well-known restaurants, but if you want a genuinely high-quality meal in a delightful environment, Jazmine Restaurant is the place!

There is no more happy hour, it has been phased out over the past few months, but it is officially gone as of a few weeks ago I want to say.

The portions were generous with plenty of leftovers to pack up in takeout boxes for enjoying for another day. My favorite three were the ahi tuna, the black cod and the brilliant asian/french mash up of red Bean Creme Brulee. I also need to mention, I loved the lamb tenderloin. I am not a big lamb fan, but this New Zealand lamb was tender and non-gamey. The owners did an outstanding job of timing the dishes and engaging with our group while also taking care of other diners including non event patrons getting getting take-out and inhouse menu dining. The space is very small, but even with and almost full house, it didn't feel cramped. Even though Kwok's is right across the street from where I live, this restaurant would be at the top of my list of "I would drive out of my way to eat here"

To start, you can't go wrong with the enthusiastic welcome we always receive. Then quickly seated and wine poured. The 2026 CNY menu was fabulous, with some great surprises. The ahi tartare portion anywhere else would have been a shareable appetizer. But each person was served a large portion of delicious fresh ahi. Mmmm this course and a glass of wine could be dinner alone any other evening. The soft creamy rich egg custard was hidden under a thick seafood gravy. I really enjoyed this unique dish. The miso black cod is always flaky and delicious. And the crab fried rice it's nestled on also never disappoints. The rich New Zealand stir fried lamb and shiitake mushrooms over pea shoots was a fabulous hearty dish on this chilly March evening. The braised short ribs were so tender no knife was needed, they flaked apart with the fork. And the e mein noodles were perfectly al dente. The dinner wrapped up with a crème brûlée that only Kwok's could pull off - red bean. Creamy smooth. Not overwhelming. The perfect burnt sugar layer on top. The regular menu is just as delicious. Small inside seating area, so recommend always make a reservation. In the summer there's a fabulous patio area out front. Limited street parking.

In case you're not aware, though the name of this restaurant references a specific city in northern China and the menu has dishes from across the country, their specialty is the spicy and numbing cuisine of the Sichuan region. If you've never had this before, when you see dishes listed as spicy, they may be very different from what you're thinking. It's certainly can be a polarizing experience, with many loving this flavor and many not into it at all, but the broad menu makes this a great call for everyone. Now I love dining with others who are familiar because it lets you explore the menu through their eyes and enjoy selections made by others with taste diverse from yours. My friend picked several dishes I would've never noticed or ordered blindly this time, and I'm so happy about that. We enjoyed the cold Woodear or black fungus in chili oil, classic snow pea tips with garlic, as well as the quintessential Sichuan cumin lamb, but the other three dishes we had were 100% new to me. Those included Sichuan snails (unshelled in an oily spicy stir fry), scallops with garlic and vermicelli, and crispy spicy intestines. The snails were a win. These are small and somewhat chewy morsels that get wok fried with fried chili, chili oil, peppers and onions. The texture is similar to sautéed calamari, but a bit firmer, and the sauce coats everything with that signature numbing heat. The scallops were the big miss. This dish typically comes in the half shell with fresh scallops, but here they're using a lower quality scallop (likely frozen) and a lot of pre-minced garlic (like you'd find in a jar). It looks impressive but the scallops had absolutely not flavor and the texture was rubbery too. Skip this one for sure. The intestines were the surprise. I've had fried intestines and they crunch like a chip and have no distinct flavor that lets you know what you're eating. These were sliced on the bias and wok tossed until super crispy on the outside with a delicately chewy interior. The sauce really amplified the flavor and this all made for a great bite within the whole meal. All in all, this is a home run. If you haven't been, I urge you to check it out, as it's one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants around.

The intestines came out crispy and piled high with red fried chilis and szechuan peppercorns. I am a huge spice nut and this absolutely hit the spot! (If you have a low spice tolerance you may want to ask for less spicy as the server did not ask how spicy I wanted it). The cucumbers were the perfect accompaniment to balance the heat and numbing from the chilis. When I first looked at the menu, I thought the prices were a bit high. After seeing the enormous portion sizes, it all made perfect sense. There was easily enough for 2 full meals for me (245lb, 6ft3in man with an appetite). The portions are clearly designed to be shared. On that point they also feature traditional Chinese style banquet seating with the lazy suzan in the middle for family style eating. I then had to fight to flag a waitress to ask for chili paste to get any heat in my entire dish. I like that there are veggies with it and the noodles have a good chew, but I've found zero dishes with anything near Thai spices here My partner got the pad thai, which was sickly sweet yet didn't taste like tamarind, fish sauce nor contain pickled veg. The wood ear in it was excellent, but I've never seen it in pad thai. The thai ice tea was good, maybe a bit heavy on sweetener. I don't understand the high ratings here, based pireh on food. Thai Chili has far better flavors, and is rated lower. The wait staff/food runners lacked politeness, and never checked if we enjoyed our food or needed anyone. Sans the person filling everyone's water, we were never checked on in any other capacity. The restaurant was a cacophony of noise and conversation, I had to lean across the booth to have any chance of hearing my companion. The noise level is overwhelming if you have sensory issues at all. The decor is pretty cool.

My wife knows how much I love Chinese food, so when she came across a TikTok review of Palais De…read moreJade, she asked if I had ever been. I hadn't, but I had definitely heard of it. We decided to make it our next date night spot. We went on a Friday around 5:30 and it wasn't very crowded yet. They asked if we preferred a table or a booth, and we went with a booth near the front. The restaurant itself is really nice, but I'll say the booth felt a little tight. Next time, we'll probably go with a table for a bit more space. The service was top notch. The staff was incredibly attentive, and our drinks were constantly refilled. Our glasses were never empty, which always stands out. About 15 minutes after we sat down, the place filled up fast. It seemed like most people coming in had reservations, so I'd definitely recommend making one if you're planning to go after 6 pm. We decided on the Shanghai Dinner. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, and my wife got the sweet and sour chicken. I was tempted by the cashew chicken and kung pao chicken, but we'll save those for next time. The appetizers were amazing. The meal comes with spring rolls, crab rangoon, paper wrapped chicken, and honey glazed BBQ spareribs. Everything was delicious. My wife loved the paper wrapped chicken, and for me, the ribs were the standout. They were tender with just the right hint of sweetness. Honestly, I could've eaten a full plate of just those and been happy. For sides, I had the egg flower soup, which was really flavorful, and my wife had the salad. She could not stop talking about how good the dressing was. Both the sweet and sour pork and chicken were great. The sauce had that perfect tangy, slightly sweet flavor. That said, next time we probably won't order the same sauce for both dishes. I think pairing something like sweet and sour with kung pao would give a better balance with a little heat to cut through the sweetness. Overall, this place is a winner. Great food, solid portions, and the price is very reasonable at about $33 per person for the Shanghai Dinner. My wife enjoyed everything so much that after seeing another table order the duck, she's already talking about coming back to try it. I've been trying to get her to try duck for a while, so I'm looking forward to that next visit. We'll definitely be back.

It has come to my attention that for the last 31 years that when I am craving really good authentic…read moreChinese food, I automatically go to PDJ. When some asks about bona fide Chinese dining that I always suggest PDJ first. The experience is sit down, formal, and shockingly consistent. The service level makes you think you are dining in this families home. The food is still the star of the show. The Peking Duck and Seafood Birds Nest are highlights. In reality, no matter what you like and spice level you are comfortable with you can't go wrong here. If you want to impress your lunch date, colleagues, or treat your loved ones, bring them here. The parking lot is cramped and gets busy during peak times. Thank you and congratulations on more than 35 years in Reno.
