    Metal bristle found in food

I found a metal bristle in my fried rice which is tragic as I really like this place. Some good authentic Chinese food here but food safety and sharp metal bits are a killer

Besides being beyond delicious, the pork, noodles and vegetables were plentiful in this noodle soup. I will be back.

Not good. Not good at all. Not sure why you Reno people in this area gives this 4.2 stars. This was not as good as the bad Chinese restaurants in east Tucson. I had the Kung pao chicken. Flavor was not good, chicken was not tough but not tender and didn't taste that good and not fresh, veggies were weird with green cabbage the main filler. The sauce wasn't tasty. The hot and sour soup, same. Not so good. I had two bites of the Kung pao. Had a third bite just to make sure. And threw it away. Same for the soup. Waste of money. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

Very good food! Service was great! Generous amount! Visit every year I come to Reno .

Taiwan Restaurant was amazing from start to finish! The food was flavorfully fresh and our waitress was pleasantly kind. The restaurant itself is very clean and I enjoyed the brightly colored decor. I recommend the shrimp chow mein and Mongolian beef. I believe I have found my new go-to Taiwanese cuisine stop! FYI: The business is under new ownership so any reviews or photos that are over a year old do not apply.

Bought the whole food in the menu lol

I had ordered take out from here and when I went in to pick up my food there was a fun fish tank inside that had some large koi fish which was neat. The staff were very friendly! I decided to get a Thai tea and she had me pick out my favorite colored straw which I thought was cute and it was very tasty as well! They have a good meal deal for 2 people that has decent amount of food. The fried rice that was included was very good! I got the chicken and broccoli which was decent. I wish it had more sauce, but that seems to be a hit or miss in a lot of Chinese food places I've been to. Overall I would recommend!

Visiting family for the holidays and came here last night for dinner - always so good and something I look forward to when coming back to Reno. The sweet owners were telling us that they had some upset customers over incorrect pricing on yelp right before we arrived even though the prices have been changed for over a year now. So I'm updating my review from 2020 because the menu prices have changed to reflect the rising food costs. I didn't think to snap a new photo of the updated prices, but if you have questions on what they are, give the restaurant call. Thanks for supporting a small business!!

I ordered the Taiwan family cuisine. THIS THE WORST CHINESE FOOD IVE EVER GOT!! Panda Express is better than this place!! For charging that much for these portions are atrocious!! The food was cold, the bbq pork rib was stale. The only thing they got right was the soup. I will never come back here again.

We hopped in on a whim one afternoon, my husband dying for some hot sour soup. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed everything online had the daily specials for all day, only to find out when we got there it's now from 11-3. But we decided to get the Taiwan family meal instead. The appetizers were delicious, my kids loved the Rangoons and my husband enjoyed both of our soups. I thought their fried rice and chow mein were both very tasty and fresh. I got the sesame chicken which was very delicious, their chicken was quality, and the sauce was thick and definitely made the whole meal for me. Definitely glad we stopped in and can't wait to visit again.

I remember going to Taiwan Restaurant as a kid to pick up Dry Beef Ho Fun with my mom. It has been in Reno for over 20 years and the food still tastes just as good. It is run by the nicest family. The have always given large, affordable portions and everything is made fresh. Going back now, I have been able to try more of their menu. The best thing about Taiwan Restaurant is how many unique dishes they have. I have yet to find other places in town that offer some of the thing they do. One of the biggest highlights is the paper chicken appetizer. So good! The chicken is tender and flavorful. Another of my favorites are the duck dishes. While it has been getting more common lately, it was always difficult to find whole duck dishes in Reno since they usually had to be picked up from Sacramento. Both the Crispy and the Roasted duck are delicious! Both have their distinct flavors so it wouldn't hurt to try both. As always, the Dry Beef Ho Fun still tastes as good as it did 15 years ago, and you can't go wrong with the potstickers and crab rangoon. There is definitely something for everyone on the menu so bring the whole family or take it to go to share. Currently, the owners are trying to retire so what better time than now to check out the restaurant before it's gone!

Their food is amazing and good quality. They cook it fresh for you :)

We have family members nearby and a lot of them also say that Asian cuisine out in Reno is not necessarily the best. Not being the case I have to admit we kind of had low expectations of this restaurant. Things were a little weird when we arrived. But first, let me tell you he's at the parking lot is large and there's plenty of parking for everyone. This restaurant shares a lot with an el super market and a few other small businesses. When we entered, the gentlemen at the front seemed very flustered. There was one couple who had arrived just before us. They were there to place a to go order. Once we came in and let them know that we were going to be a party of four, the gentleman looked very confused. All of a sudden he didn't seem like he knew where to put us. There were more than enough tables. He initially was going to place in a tiny booth, but we explained that when we go out to eat that we may be a small group, but we order pretty large amounts of food and we like our table space. He got even more confused and flustered. We ordered green beans with chicken. We had pork chops with spicy salt and fried tofu with spicy salt. And because we were feeling slightly intrigued and curious, we ordered a fried eggplant with spicy salt. That fried eggplant was fantastic. It was so lightly fried, even though the batter, we weren't quite sure about because it looked a little heavy. I really like the green beans. They were still crispy and crunchy. To my liking, those were perfectly cooked. I love that. They use a lot of onion and garlic. Nothing was overly salty. The one oopsie that I experienced that was both a shock and a bit of a problem... one of the waiters came to refill my water and somehow he accidentally missed the cup and dumped about a quarter of the picture of water into my purse. Ughhhh. That part wasn't fun but luckily I keep my purse organized where everything is pretty much in pouches. So most things were protected. My wallet did get wet, but luckily it was just water and nothing else.

The portions were generous with plenty of leftovers to pack up in takeout boxes for enjoying for another day. My favorite three were the ahi tuna, the black cod and the brilliant asian/french mash up of red Bean Creme Brulee. I also need to mention, I loved the lamb tenderloin. I am not a big lamb fan, but this New Zealand lamb was tender and non-gamey. The owners did an outstanding job of timing the dishes and engaging with our group while also taking care of other diners including non event patrons getting getting take-out and inhouse menu dining. The space is very small, but even with and almost full house, it didn't feel cramped. To start, you can't go wrong with the enthusiastic welcome we always receive. Then quickly seated and wine poured. The 2026 CNY menu was fabulous, with some great surprises. The ahi tartare portion anywhere else would have been a shareable appetizer. But each person was served a large portion of delicious fresh ahi. Mmmm this course and a glass of wine could be dinner alone any other evening. The soft creamy rich egg custard was hidden under a thick seafood gravy. I really enjoyed this unique dish. The miso black cod is always flaky and delicious. And the crab fried rice it's nestled on also never disappoints. The rich New Zealand stir fried lamb and shiitake mushrooms over pea shoots was a fabulous hearty dish on this chilly March evening. The braised short ribs were so tender no knife was needed, they flaked apart with the fork. And the e mein noodles were perfectly al dente. The dinner wrapped up with a crème brûlée that only Kwok's could pull off - red bean. Creamy smooth. Not overwhelming. The perfect burnt sugar layer on top. The regular menu is just as delicious. Small inside seating area, so recommend always make a reservation. In the summer there's a fabulous patio area out front. Limited street parking.

In case you're not aware, though the name of this restaurant references a specific city in northern China and the menu has dishes from across the country, their specialty is the spicy and numbing cuisine of the Sichuan region. If you've never had this before, when you see dishes listed as spicy, they may be very different from what you're thinking. It's certainly can be a polarizing experience, with many loving this flavor and many not into it at all, but the broad menu makes this a great call for everyone. Now I love dining with others who are familiar because it lets you explore the menu through their eyes and enjoy selections made by others with taste diverse from yours. My friend picked several dishes I would've never noticed or ordered blindly this time, and I'm so happy about that. We enjoyed the cold Woodear or black fungus in chili oil, classic snow pea tips with garlic, as well as the quintessential Sichuan cumin lamb, but the other three dishes we had were 100% new to me. Those included Sichuan snails (unshelled in an oily spicy stir fry), scallops with garlic and vermicelli, and crispy spicy intestines. The snails were a win. These are small and somewhat chewy morsels that get wok fried with fried chili, chili oil, peppers and onions. The texture is similar to sautéed calamari, but a bit firmer, and the sauce coats everything with that signature numbing heat. The scallops were the big miss. This dish typically comes in the half shell with fresh scallops, but here they're using a lower quality scallop (likely frozen) and a lot of pre-minced garlic (like you'd find in a jar). It looks impressive but the scallops had absolutely not flavor and the texture was rubbery too. Skip this one for sure. The intestines were the surprise. I've had fried intestines and they crunch like a chip and have no distinct flavor that lets you know what you're eating. These were sliced on the bias and wok tossed until super crispy on the outside with a delicately chewy interior. The sauce really amplified the flavor and this all made for a great bite within the whole meal. All in all, this is a home run. If you haven't been, I urge you to check it out, as it's one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants around.

The best by far was his friends Szechuan Beef, which would probably have me come back just for that. The restaurant is in a cute little strip mall and the interior was quite cozy and attractive. The staff was incredibly attentive, and our drinks were constantly refilled. Our glasses were never empty, which always stands out. About 15 minutes after we sat down, the place filled up fast. It seemed like most people coming in had reservations, so I'd definitely recommend making one if you're planning to go after 6 pm. We decided on the Shanghai Dinner. She could not stop talking about how good the dressing was. Both the sweet and sour pork and chicken were great. The sauce had that perfect tangy, slightly sweet flavor. That said, next time we probably won't order the same sauce for both dishes. I think pairing something like sweet and sour with kung pao would give a better balance with a little heat to cut through the sweetness. Overall, this place is a winner. Great food, solid portions, and the price is very reasonable at about $33 per person for the Shanghai Dinner. My wife enjoyed everything so much that after seeing another table order the duck, she's already talking about coming back to try it. I've been trying to get her to try duck for a while, so I'm looking forward to that next visit. We'll definitely be back.
