6/16/26- Wanted to grab something near y and decided to dine in. Not very busy but it's like or feels like 97*.. Went with the bi bum bap bulgogi-too many carrots - liked the mushrooms but too many bean sprouts for me.. meat was chewy.. Also went with the new cold noodle naengymeon..served with bulgogi.. Really hoping for more flavor but it was hard to detect any.. Only six banchans offered- New server- very attentive and friendly. Think I'll just stick with the tofu soup and seafood pancake..
Very pleasant surprise with tofu stew and great ambience. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained. We stopped by this place for some good Korean food during our road trip of 5 states. this venues seems family-operated and I am confident to say this must be a hidden gem for people who drive from Las Vegas to Reno. Side dishes were tasty and staffs were very kind. Thank you for good comfort food!
Consistent, classic, comforting, casual and delicious. If you enjoy Korean, Tofu House NEEDS to be in your rotation of regular eats. We've got our order dialed, but if I had more opportunities to dine with friends, I'd surely expand it. Can't miss items include the seafood pancake, KFC, spicy soft tofu soup, and the spicy pork bulgogi. All of these dishes work well together and make a great family style meal. In the past I've been a fan of the jjyolmeon too. It's got a sweet side but a nice spicy kick, packed with crisp veggies, all over chewy noodles. It's a vegetarian dish and a nice compliment to some of the protein heavy offerings. I would say adding a protein to this dish would make a great meal, and that's something I haven't tried yet. Their banchan slaps too. There's typically a traditional kimchi and another version, both of which are quite good and I usually ask for more at some point during the meal. They offer a rotating selection of banchan along with them that range from contemporary to classic. I will say I wish they'd change this up a bit because it makes for a fresh experience. I also wish they'd bring the black beans in from time to time. Service is stellar and ever present. They've made some special orders come true for my kids as well and that's always meaningful. Go.
First time here and wondering why it's taken me awhile to try this place out. I got the beef tofu and it was yummilicious with the right amount of spice that hits you in your throat. You get to taste the deep savory flavors first. Super comforting, cozy, and yummy. Servers serve you with a smile, welcomes you when you enter the doors and wishes you well on your way out. There's only 1 restroom but it was clean and stocked.
I come at least once a month for the tofu soup. I brought my mom here who lives in LA and she said their food rivals ktown. I love tofu house!
We had a wonderful dinner yesterday evening at Tofu House with friends, where we ate a variety of their entrees. I had the Beef Bibimbap which includes a bowl of assorted vegetables over white rice with Korean chili paste serve served with a fried or seasoned egg, we then enjoyed their crispy fried chicken which was delicious (fried whole chicken - half-and-half) , chicken teriyaki entree, along with their soup (forgot which one, with many assorted flavors from beef to veggie, tofu and pork) in which my wife and friend Goose would have. Service this evening was okay. Our waiter who was also our cashier didn't quite have that warm customer service embrace one expects or wishes to enjoy, when visiting a restaurant--definitely a change from our first visit (this being my second). The ambiance or vibe of the restaurant was sober, calm with a few patrons including a friend I hadn't seen in a while enjoying their meals. There are no TVs or background music I could hear, just food and conversation which isn't bad at all. Overall, we really enjoyed the food, but obviously we hope the customer service experience improves and engagement feels a bit more warmer, tried or an effort is made for us to feel we're welcomed there. Check them out however, solid eats otherwise.
Such yummy food. I got the tofu soft soup. Spice level 2. We also ordered pot stickers and wings. Can't recall what my husband ordered. It was a lot of food. Would come back. Bring a sweater. They had the AC blasting.
Came here again, this time for lunch, and was again disappointed. Home style food and portions for big city prices. Husband and I got 5 pieces of fried chicken to start: was delicious apart from the thick ketchup based sauce it was drenched in. It got all over the sides of my mouth and I had to clean off the extra sauce by wiping the chicken with my napkin, and when I ran out of the single napkin I was given, had to wipe it on my rice. Ridiculous. I got the beef short rib soup and husband got the assorted soft tofu soup. Both were good but not amazing, 3 stars, but came with a tiny bowl of rice the size of my palm. Extra rice which my husband asked for cost $3.50. My short rib soup had a few small pieces of short rib, nothing special. At least mine wasn't salty, but my husband thought his was. Meal came with 6 small banchan. Again nothing special, just an assortment of plant based foods. Might get takeout for the soups in the future, but not coming back for a mediocre meal of almost $70. This is the only Korean spot in South Reno so they do have a monopoly over this cuisine, but I suggest you go to Sparks instead unless you're truly desperate.
Great find for authentic, fresh and tasty Korean food in Reno. The owner/proprietor is well versed in allergies so def bookmark this spot as an allergy-friendly establishment. They don't take reservations, and there aren't that many tables, but the wait was very reasonable and you can sit in the adjacent poke eatery, as they are co-owned by the same family. Bonchon comes in a single dish with six sections. I like that they have sample sizes so that food isn't wasted and at the same time we asked for extra Kimchee and they obliged promptly. Assorted Soft Tofu Soup Soft tofu, assorted seafood, beef, mushroom and zucchini. I chose level 2 (out of 4) spice level and that was just about right. Everything was great, but I did wish that the plain rice was purple grain rice instead. Fried Whole Chicken 18 pieces plain or Korean chicken sauce or half and half. The Korean sauce is sticky and sweet - great for the first few bites, but it does bog you down after a bit. I don't regret getting the half and half but next time, I would get no sauce - which is more traditional and very delicious. We aim to return next time in Reno - service is friendly and the food is great home cooking. I highly recommend Tofu House for anyone needing an authentic Korean fix. That's all.
I think I may have just found the Korean restaurant that makes me forget I'm not in Los Angeles. You know that feeling when a place nails the flavors so perfectly you swear you've been dropped right into K-Town? Yeah, that happened. Upon walking in, the restaurant was spotless inside. It was clean, comfortable, and inviting. My group of 3 also went at an off time on a Friday, around 2 pm and there was only one other group there which was great since I've heard that it often gets really busy. Now let's get to the food! The beef short rib soup was comfort in a bowl. The meat was fall-apart tender, the broth incredibly rich and layered. One spoonful and I immediately started texting my cousins who live in LA (and the ones who I go on Korean foodie adventure with) about how good this soup was. I honestly wish I had a bowl right now! The spam and kimchi soft tofu stew was a warm, spicy, savory hug. A solid and satisfying dish that hits the spot every time. The cold noodle (naengmyeon) was so good it isn't even on the main menu! It's a specialty with its own poster so be sure to look around to find it. It comes with a side of galbi which paired perfectly with the refreshing noodles. I have been looking for a Korean spot in town with good naengmyeon. I had a friend with me who has never had this before and she said it was her favorite dish! The spicy pork bulgogi was tender, flavorful, and balanced with just the right amount of heat. I liked that the pork wasn't super fatty. The steamed egg was the only dish that was simply just okay. Could've used a bit more flavor but it was cooked nicely. Now for the star of the show, the seafood pancake! This pancake was top 2 of the best seafood pancakes I've ever had, and it might even be tied for #1. I usually tap out after one polite bite of seafood pancake, but this time? I demolished half the plate without hesitation. Crispy edges, perfectly chewy inside, packed with seafood, and seasoned to perfection. Truly unforgettable. It's so nice to have a good Korean spot in town and I can't wait to be back!
Restaurant was in a new plaza so was clean and parking was plentiful. The food was good but we've had better; we were visiting from Los Angeles where Korean food is everywhere. I imagine this place would do good if there are not many Korean places to eat in the area. Portions were large to share. Service was fast and mediocre, they were not as nice as I thought they would be for a new place and wanting to attract new customers. All the dishes were not bad but not really good either. The best dish was probably the fried chicken.
An absolutely delicious bowl of food! We started with the wings and the tofu nuggets, both delectable. And then I followed that up with the pork tofu soup which was stellar. I've been here 3 times now and am always impressed. Happy to have such a great spot down in South Reno.
Deeply satisfying, fresh, and delicious! Our first time in- we had both the Beef bulgogi and the Short rib stew. The selection of ferments, and small bites before were amazing. Relaxed atmosphere and attentive service. Definitely will be back when in south town!
I'm a HUGE fan of Chef Kwon...he's a genius in the kitchen! Before I tell you about this great restaurant, let me give you some history. I first met Chef Kwon when he had the original Hiroba Sushi. At the time, it was my fave and considered as arguably the best sushi joint in the area. I followed him to Sushi 7 when he left Hiroba...equally delicious. Then I followed him to the original Tofu House when he opened that in Independence Square on Moana. I was puzzled when I found him at his new restaurant, being that he's trained a LARGE amount of the area sushi chefs and I only knew his sushi. He told me that Tofu House was his passion...as he put it, Korean Soul Food, straight from his roots and his heart. Unfortunately, the original location didn't survive the pandemic... After the pandemic, he opened Poke Doke/Bowls N Go, poke in Carson City...great food there, too. Then, finally, he reopened Tofu House in this new location! Located in a strip mall in South Reno, the ambience is casual and comfortable. The service is friendly and consistent...and the food is AMAZING! It's NOT all about Tofu...he has all the standard Korean dishes available, from Bibimbop to Bulgogi and his Japchae is out of this world. He also offers some unique spins on other dishes. It's one of my 2 favorite Korean places around and both are uniquely different from each other. I'll visit here whenever I get to the south end of town...in fact, I'll go out of my way to visit. I think you'll be very happy when you visit if you like this style of food...his cuisine is outstanding! I suggest, as always, that you go see for yourself to see what YOU think... read more

Food was relatively fast to come out. It was hot with good tofu and veggies. I had the japchae, and my wife had the soft tofu & seafood soup. Service was good. Ambience was a bit "strip mall", but heck it was in a strip mall, so what the heck. I would come here again. The two entrees plus the six assorted banchan pickled veggies totaled $41. If I was not observing "dry January "!I would have ordered an extra large 20oz bottle of beer for $8. read more

The place isn't too big but it can sit a lot. There's free parking as well. The food was delicious - soup was so good! Perfect for the cold weather. There were two employees working. The lady was very nice, the guy seems like he doesn't want to be there or didn't want us there. Tried calling his attention twice when he was nearby - ignored. Then he would step away while we were still talking. Was still far away from our table when he asked what we needed. read more

Tofu House This is a review for my dining experience at Tofu House. AMBIANCE: I loved the decor of the posters of the Korean dishes. Very clean and inviting FOOD: So fresh and delicious! All of the items I ordered were flavorful and yummy! Banchan sides: Mashed potatoes, bean sprouts, kimchi, radish, fish cake, seaweed Seafood Pancake: -Flaky, crunchy, great seafood portions -Paired well with their house dipping sauce Beef Bulgogi Bibimbap: -Great combination of savory goodness -vegetables, egg, beef bulgogi -Mix it with the gochujang sauce! Yum! ******Assorted soft tofu soup: -Came with beef, seafood, mushrooms, and egg -Served piping hot so be careful! So delicious! This was my favorite part of the meal! There were so many chunks of meat, seafood, and the broth was flavorful! -I liked pairing it with the rice Everything was delicious and savory! Great service and amazing food in South Reno! My first time here and it did not disappoint! We tried a variety of dishes from kimchi fried rice to wings, assorted tofu soup, seafood pancake and so many others! It's a small and intimate space but the flavors were packed with so much depth and deliciousness! Thanks to our server for recommending my favorite of the night - jjambbong! I got level 2 spice and it was perfect . We will definitely be back for more! read more

Good bibimbap but everything else was just ok! Also got the bulgolgi which I didn't think was anything too special. Side dishes were a bit of a let down except for the kimchi. Overall, great bang for your buck and will scratch the itch if you are craving Korean food but not a standout. read more

OMG YES! I ordered the seafood soft tofu soup and it was everything! The flavor was on point, the portion was plentiful and the amount of seafood was definitely appreciated. They had shrimp, octopus and scallops and non of them tasted frozen or fishy. I am so impressed. I ordered my food for pickup online and it was super easy and fast. It was ready in less than 10 minutes. The soup came in a cardboard bowl, which is impressive. The staff greeted me as I walked in and every one was really nice. The restaurant is small with a clean-fresh look. It was packed inside for a Thursday night, but definitely understand why since the food is really good. I can not wait to try other dishes at Tofu House! read more
BEST BROTH I HAVE EVER HAD EVER (Beef Bololgi broth) I WOULD PUT THIS FOOD AS MY LAST MEAL EITHER ON DEATH ROW OR ON MY DEATH BED. I legit crave this broth i cannot even describe its flavor it's its own thing but i legit have ordered it on the side to just chug. I am beyond happy with this place the food is soooooo gooood and so flavorful. The price is a tad higher but soooo worth it. This place is such a treat, I am so happy and so excited to come here. ITS A MUST TRY THE FOOD IS OUT OF THIS WORLD, SERVICE IS GREAT, ART ON THE WALLS AND SET UP IS CUTE! Yummy banchan and super fresh! Love that the 6 banchan options are all super different and unique and flavorful in their own ways. Tried the pork bibimbap which was sizzling super hot super yummy, much better than last time I had the chicken bibimbap definitely stick to pork! Also tried the jajangmyeon and that was a really large portion good for two batches lunch and dinner with really silky black bean sauce and perfectly chewy but soft noodles. Tofu house hits the spot. It's definitely on the pricier side for a quick casual dinner but I'm glad it's in the area and super accessible and easy to get to. Wish the ambiance was a little less cafeteria style. Ok 5/28/25 Finally got around to trying this place. Me and my family came in on a Wednesday evening about 8:20pm 3 of us . They close at 9pm. Was greeted immediately and sat down. IM was our server and possibly owner . He was very attentive and took care of us even coming in later with it almost closing . We kind of had an idea of what we wanted so we ordered quick. We got The pork pot stickers , spicy pork bulgogi with egg on top , beef bulgogi and side of white rice . Comes with side dish too. The pot stickers were really good my son liked them a lot . The spicy pork had really good flavor just right amount of spice . Beef bulgogi was delish too. Everything we had was flavorful. The ambiance was nice very clean restaurant. Service was really quick . We were the only ones in there to be fair . Everything came out nice and hot as can see in vid. The one thing I would say is I would have liked the portions to be just a little bit bigger imo it fed 3 of us just fine but i could have had a little more of either Bulgogi. All in all was very good . Would definitely come back try some more stuff . Enjoy !!!! read more

If you're looking for an authentic Korean restaurant, this is the place. This place has been on my list to try, and I finally did it on a cold wintery night which was a perfect time for some soft tofu soup! Everything I ate here was delicious. The beef soft tofu had the perfect balance of flavor and spice. The selection of banchan was great! I especially loved the fish cake. My two kids shared the hot stone bibimbap which was perfect for them. The beef was good, the veggies were fresh, and I can't forget that yummy crispy rice at the bottom. I'm definitely coming back here for more! Very pleasant experience. Although the place was small, the server was nice and still attentive. read more
