We hadn't been here for several years, but since we were in the area, we decided to give them another try. One thing we noticed right away was that the bonchon was already set on the tables before guests arrived. It wasn't a large spread--just a small tin of cheese corn and a divided tray with kimchi, bean sprouts, and fish cake--not sure how long they were left out and did look and taste dry. The servers seemed to work well together. Different team members checked on us, cleared dishes, served food, and helped other's tables. Once it got busier, they also used robot servers to help deliver food. We started with the salad with house dressing and the popcorn chicken. Both were good, and the chicken was nice and moist. For the BBQ, we ordered the Chardol, Ju Mul Luck, Hawaiian Steak, Tri-Tip Bulgogi, and Galbi (short ribs). Having eaten at quite a few Korean BBQ restaurants in Las Vegas, we noticed the portions here were a bit smaller. They also limit each round to three appetizers and four meat selections. Overall, the service was good, and we especially appreciated Eurie for being friendly and attentive. The only thing that concerned us was when another server changed our grill. Instead of lightly drizzling oil onto the grill, she forcefully squeezed the bottle, causing the oil to shoot out onto grill. It seemed like an unnecessary safety risk for both guests and employees. Our favorites were definitely the Tri-Tip Bulgogi and the Galbi. Both were flavorful and tender. The Chardol was good, but the slices were very thin and the portion felt a little small. The restaurant filled up quickly between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., so it's clearly a popular spot. One of the biggest reasons I keep coming back is that it's one of the few Korean BBQ spots that welcomes solo diners without requiring a party of two. As someone who occasionally likes to eat alone, I really appreciate that. I've visited several times over the years, including recently under the newer ownership. Unfortunately, some of my old favorites aren't quite the same. I used to love their deep-fried oysters, which are no longer on the menu and have been replaced with deep-fried mussels. The kimchi stew recipe also seems to have changed and wasn't as memorable as before. That said, they still serve my favorite gopchang (beef small intestine). When cooked properly, it gets wonderfully crispy and reminds me of Mexican tripas tacos--definitely worth ordering. I'd personally skip the bibimbap appetizer. The rice was hard, the ground beef was cold, and it felt like it relied too heavily on the gochujang sauce for flavor. Even with those changes, I'll continue supporting this business. I went to SIU Korean BBQ for my birthday after my friends decided they wanted to take me out to dinner. We went on a Thursday night, and the restaurant was probably about 45% full, so it was busy but not overwhelming. When I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly worker. I let her know I was meeting friends, and she allowed me to go find them and take a seat. The restaurant itself was nice, clean, and had a comfortable atmosphere. Our server was also very nice and brought us menus while we waited for the rest of our group to arrive. Once everyone got there, we started with a few appetizers. We ordered the fried dumplings, popcorn chicken, and I got the kimchi soup. The soup was delicious, and the dumplings and popcorn chicken were both really good too. Honestly, I could have ordered multiple rounds of those alone, but we were there for Korean BBQ and did not want to fill up too much on starters. For our first round of meats, we ordered beef belly, bulgogi, spicy chicken, and garlic pork belly. The food came out quickly, and it arrived on a robot, which was pretty cool. All of the meats were great, but the garlic pork belly and bulgogi were definitely the standouts. For our next round, we ordered those two again along with Hawaiian steak and chicken galbi. Once again, everything was tasty. We finished our final round with more beef belly, New York steak, and miso pork belly. By the end of the meal, we were completely stuffed. To my surprise, our server noticed that one of my friends had brought me a birthday gift bag, and the staff came over and sang happy birthday to me. That was a really nice touch and made the night feel even more special. Overall, this was a good experience. So I came about a month ago and I'm behind on my review . No new pics. They weren't to crowded got there about 5:30pm before the rush came in . We had dumplings for appetizers and they were delicious. We ordered various meats and they were all delicious . Service was quick too. It did definitely get busy as the night went on. The only draw back was the rice. We wanted to get some more rice and they were behind on having rice available kind of bummer. We did have rice paper tho. SIU Korean barbecue is solid Korean barbecue restaurant. I've come here many times over the years and appreciate the authenticity of the menu and experience. The menu is full of cups of meat and not found at the other KBBQ restaurant and generally speaking quality is there on all of it. We enjoyed the birthday celebration here the other night, and discovered a few new favorites, including the pork GALBI, which is delicious, sweet, tender cuts of lean pork marinated in the sweet sowing which grows up wonderfully and delivers a nice char. I also am a huge fan of the Sydney slice of beef tongue that cooks chicken. Did that in a little bit of sesame oil salt or add a bit of the seasoning spice from your condiment tray and throw that in lettuce or radish wrap, and you are set. They also offer a couple of specialty cuts at dinner only like the thousand stripe and premium GALBI, which is a crosscut beef short rib. I personally think their short rib is the best in town as it comes out nicely marinated and extremely tender with just the right amount of fat versus some of the others that I've tried which have a substantial amount of fat versus meat. There was also a specialty cut of fatty pork that I cannot remember the Korean Nemo, but that took a long time to cook, even though it was in sliced, but then result was this delightfully crispy piece of meat that could be eaten on its own or added to another wrap that you were creating and was quite enjoyable. The reason for decreasing into four stars is just service. That's where the other KBBQ has this place beat. Part of a we were seated at two tables right next to each other and for some reason, it seemed one table received more attention than the other and after a point it seemed that the server just stopped coming back altogether, and they also forgot items multiple times throughout the meal left water glasses on filled and didn't clear place on the act. Normally not a big deal but you're consuming so much as a larger party and you're dealing with brought meat. You are putting your diners at risk for not helping to make sure that we maintain a clean and sanitary dining experience. Even to the end of the meal, the server did not come back to see if we wanted to order more food or bring us a check and I had to get up and go to the front to ask for it. Lastly, I was shocked that they did not have any hot sake in the restaurant to order nor did they offer any type of dessert either included or for purchase. We came to celebrate a birthday and can't be the only people that stop here for special occasions, so I would assume that there are people that want that when they're dying here and it was just surprising to hear that. Again, this is a great Korean barbecue spot and then I will certainly return to you and hope that the service experience improved so that the dining experience overall is that much better. read more

I love KBBQ! This is a fun experience for sure. The food was good albeit a bit pricy for how much (little) my partner and I can eat, but worth it as a treat for the experience. Yelp Elites Michael T and Kathy B are right about the meat sweats!! It's been a few weeks since we went so I can't recall all of the meats we tried, but the spicy pork belly is one I remember as it was delightful. The kimchi stew is INCREDIBLE, and I enjoyed the banchan a lot. Depending on where you sit, either a server or robot cart with a cute face will deliver your food and drink. I'm generally anti-robot, but these are adorable! The ambiance is nice, but prepare to get pretty smoky. They do a great job of swapping grills often to prevent some of this, but smoke happens. This little neighborhood gem was a big deal. We loveKorean BBQ and this place didn't disappoint. Some of the best meats we've had. Marinated to perfection and amazingly tender. The tri-tip bulgogi and the brisket bulgogi were to good to find words. Both taste bud sensations. The Hawaiian beef steak, New York steak and the Gordon steak were all scrumptious. We tried all 3. What kind of threw me off was that there was already banchan's on our table before we even got there (the kimchi/ seasonings) as if it had just been sitting out. The ambiance had an arrangement similar to last ownership. Their range hood actually worked but due to HVAC system within the building, not all smokes get sucked into the hood. Super cute restaurant and extremely friendly servers, however I was disappointed in the quality of the meats and the overall experience from the kitchen. We were a party of five. We were seated quickly, and we came about an hour and a half prior to closing which should be plenty of time to eat and grill. This is an AYCE spot, so as a big family we were trying to order our food quickly and get started on grilling. They have servers who come to drop off the paper sheet which you mark how many quantities of each you want, and a little robot device comes to deliver your items. The problem was there was a huge lack of consistency. For example, one serving of mushrooms was the same as five servings of mushroom (or meats etc etc). It didn't really matter what number we marked on our little paper because the kitchen would just send what they wanted to send. Our table spent more time waiting on meats to come, only to find out it was too little for our party, waiting for servers to come so we could call for more meats, and being disappointed because the quantity that came back wasn't any different from what we ordered the first time. Our hour and a half was used up very quickly. I also felt disappointed in the items themselves. The soups were flavorless. Most of the meats were pretty tough. The items I did enjoy were all of the marinated meats- I found that they were softer and easier to grill. The servers were also super incredibly friendly. Very disappointed in the place. When we walked in and saw the automated servers my daughter asked if they actually used them and the host rudely said "yeah of course we do!" A) If you want AYCE, you cannot bring anyone with who just wants a simple appetizer. Everyone who sits at the AYCE tables has to pay for AYCE. I've never been a place where kiddos can't get a side of potstickers etc, because they are hella picky and most kids under 10 may not be into AYCE KBBQ. That could make or break the decision to eat here for some parties, so flexibility would have been appreciated. B) They don't offer a drink menu so either you know what you want or you can order water and be safe. I felt that was a big miss. C) The table, despite how many ACYE heads you are paying for, ONLY get *4* meats per paper order you submit. We were paying for 3 and only were brought 4 of the 6 we ordered. I can imagine this really not being fun for large parties, so it kind of deters friends and families for joining with 3+ people here. D) The meat here is sliced THICK, not like the shavings you're used to probably elsewhere. I personally like the ability to order much more, waste less, and try a variety of flavors when it is sliced thin. This place will have you full in fewer orders due to density. E) Warning signs greet you at the door and on the menu that you will be charged extra for over-ordering. So start small and you will fill up quick because of how thick the portions are. I should have listened to the 2 recent reviews on how horrible the service and the meat they served us! All those 5 stars are probably ai/bots but this restaurant is nothing compare to IJJI 4 KBBQ! We were happy to find a Korean BBQ place in Reno! The parking is plentiful and they are able to accommodate large parties. There are lots of tables with good ventilation. They have a robot server that brings food to the table and takes empty dishes away. We ordered the green apple and raspberry soju drinks. They are huge and lasted the whole meal. The meats came out quickly and tasted fresh. I especially loved the Miso Pork Belly; it had the perfect balance of sweetness and savory flavor, easily making it my favorite of the night. My only reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to a few small details. We were charged the full adult price of $38.99 for the child eating with us, who only had a couple of miso soups, a bowl of rice, and some pork. While we knew the pricing beforehand and were prepared for it, it would be wonderful if the restaurant considered extending the reduced price (currently for ages 9 and under) to include kids up to 12. We were also told the ice cream machine was out of order, leaving no dessert options, and one of the two stalls in the women's restroom was unavailable, which caused a brief wait. I've literally never had an experience like this, so please bear with me. I came here with a buddy a couple hours ago. I wasn't hungry, so just had a few beers while he went nuts on the AYCE. I told the waiter upon his seating us that I was not eating anything. Which he acknowledged and giggled at me about. Despite the weird sewage/old meat smell as you walk in, this seemed like a half decent Korean bbq joint. Service was good and the food looked and smelled edible in general. After a few beers and my friend getting his fill of Korean bbq, our bill came. They wanted to charge us for two AYCE's, despite my telling the waiter I was not eating, and hadn't eaten anything. Which he had to have noticed as he was serving my friend, over and over again. Easy enough, they should have taken one AYCE off of the bill. But NO!!! First, a manager came out and told us that they have to charge per head, and that I never told the waiter I wasn't eating. We said no, I had fully unused chopsticks and place settings that I pointed out. The manager acknowledged this and said he'd be right back. He returned and told us that our waiter had seen me eating. I did not touch a single piece of food, at any point in time. I asked for proof from their surveillance cameras. I was told our section was a "blind spot" for their cameras. Really?! He came back and told us tough luck pretty much. That was their policy, and I was lying. We refused again. He then returned again, with an amended bill for what we actually consumed. No apology or explanation for anything. We payed and left. I'm not blaming any of the staff for this. They were totally fine the whole time we were there, up until the end. It all felt like that poor kid was just running back to the office and having the owner or manager telling him to just charge us either way and see if we'd call their bluff. I was planning to come back and actually try the food. But my god, why would I ever support a place that puts their workers in a position like that, and tries to basically strong arm people into paying for food they never consumed? It's no wonder their ratings have been dropping. If you're going to serve slightly above mediocre food. At least make sure the customer service and billing are on point. read more

What a fantastic birthday dinner! We hadn't been in for awhile and since the last time we had been here....the ownership has changed and same with the head chef. They have revamped the menu since as well. We all got the BBQ and ordered up 4 meats at a time. Over the course of the meal we had.... Jap Chae Fried Dumplings Fried Wontons Fried Mussels Kimchi Soup Pork Belly King Soy Shrimp Tri-Tip Bulgogi Beef Belly Woo Sul (beef tongue) LA Boneless Rib Eye Calamari Lettuce Steam Rice Jalapeno Radish Wrap !!!! Pineapple Everything was on point. My favorites were the Woo Sul, Jap Chae and the Radish Wrap. We moved through three different orders of sides and meats. Normally I would get some alcohol but I wasn't in the mood for a Sapporo this time. They were a pretty efficient at swapping out the grill tops and the little robots were fun to watch stroll about the restaurant delivering plates and "bussing" the empty plates. I felt like I was in a sci fi movie. We were even able to discuss with the owner the changes that they had put into place since the take over. New Korean Chef and with that a bunch of new items that they didn't have before! The price point is still pretty good for the quality of the food you get and the level of service they provide. WOWZA!!! This place is amazing, and I have been dreaming about going back since we went a week ago. From the ambiance and decor when you first walk in to the adorable little robot serving our food, we had a blast. My favorite part was our robot coming by to drop off the food (see video). It was so fun and so space age - such a neat experience. But even better was the food! The meat came out fresh and marinated perfectly. We LOVED the miso pork belly the most. So delish and mouthwateringly good. We also really enjoyed the Golbi beef short ribs too. Excellent marinade. We had never been to a Korean bbq before but now that we have, we will be adding it to the mix. We went on Mother's Day. We didn't have a reservation. When we called, we were told walk in only and probably a 45 minute wait. We decided to get right in the car and try an early dinner. Arrived around 4:30. We were sat right away. Bonus!! Korean BBQ was completely new to us. Asked the server what we should do and how to order. She gave us a very quick and basic outline. We still felt unsure about how to tackle the process but we were embarrassed to ask. The menu was special for Mother's Day at $39.99 per person and all you could eat. No idea it differs on other days. That was pricey for our family of 5 but hey, it was Mother's Day and mama didn't want to cook. In the end, mama cooked. Everyone was afraid to grill on their own, make mistakes, and put the work in. I would say because this was a new experience for us and we didn't feel we got great guidance, it was a bit stressful. I would have liked the option of A la carte. Chop sticks only. We could have asked for utensils but we didn't, our fault. There were scissors in a bucket with two tongs for grilling but no way to cut your own meat. For five of us that meant sharing two tongs to flip, and grill. Again, this left only two of us to cook. The meat we tried was tasty. The dumpling and pot sticker appetizers were dry and hard. The salad with sesame dressing was perfectly crisp. We even tried the baby octopus. We were not fans. No dessert was advertised with the all you could eat meal and we weren't offered anything. The restaurant was filled with families chatting and cooking a way and happily around their table grills. They all appeared to know how to maneuver the process. I'm sad that we didn't enjoy the experience as much as we expected. It was different and I would try it again with a different group.
