I liked the smaller pieces, easier to eat. Tempura Upside Down Shrimp Nigiri Sushi was my favorite.

Service was good. Nice lady kept our waters filled and checked in often. Pieces are a little smaller. But I like that! Easier to eat! Fish was a little bland. But for AYCE it was good. We liked the black Tiger and snow mountain. One thing, the music they had on was not family friendly. Curse words playing pretty loud. Kinda funny. My kids are adults now so didn't bother me.

Really nice service, clean, sushi was all you can eat at lunch for $26.95. The fish was fine but nothing special or amazing by all means. I like to give honest reviews because 4.5 on Yelp is very generous but not accurate if you're looking for good quality sushi

Me and my husband went right after the lunch special ended and it was the perfect time to go. Not too busy or crowded and the space is cool tone but relaxing. I've been here before but for the Chinese food side and never the sushi side which is very intriguing. I love their Chinese food and was not surprised when I tried their sushi. The staff are kind and quick to attend you when ordering. They also do a great job of following up on drinks and anything else you may need while you're eating/waiting. They did fail to bring some of the appetizers on our order, but the food tasted so great. We were OK with it. My husband and I loved every single roll that we tried. We had: -Mussels -cream cheese Rangoon's -miso soup -Tasty pop -OA #2 -Creamy Salmon -War -Golden Gate -Sweet bear -Paradise -Snow Mountain We did not finish all our sushi but we definitely enjoyed every bite. 10/10 highly recommend this place. It's located in the Moana shopping center near Raley's.

I'm due for an update! I'm glad I decided to return since being treated to a sushi dinner date here recently. The servers are great here and on the Chinese food side as well. I like the rolls offered on their dinner menu. The sushi chefs(guys) are hit or miss. For instance I'll order a roll as a hand roll and will come out a long roll. It's happened everytime or they'll serve us someone else's platter. So I keep track of what I order and ask what things are as they come out. I like having the option to have Chinese at the sushi half or vice versa. Bar or table seating like other sushi bars and tables are cleared off immediately. It's a plus that their restroom is clean. I only wish they would change their policy with the cards. I suggest whoever pays gets the stamps for the visit. We had friends visiting from out of town and they have no use for a stamp card at sushi here.

Oh yeah, went here with my sister's brother and man for my birthday dinner. Had a wonderful time. We actually went for lunch. I really like this sushi place. Always really fresh sushi. Great service! They're great for parties and it's super fresh sushi. I really had a wonderful time. Thank you to my family....

I absolutely LOVE this sushi spot!! The owners are so nice and welcoming ! The sushi is always fresh and tastes so amazing! The chefs are seasoned and can recommended things that you would love no problem! Small and intimate. You get what seems like personal service most of the time . All the employees are superbly attentive and friendly also!

Maggie, our server was so sweet. The hand roll and long roll combinations were all delicious. Loved the well proportioned sushi, as it allowed us to try a good variety of their offerings & there were many more. Ingredients were fresh. A great spot, especially after a day on the slopes. Thank you, O'A!

It was busy, but the staff smiled at you once you entered, they had to clean a table for us. Attentive. Sushi was surprisingly one of the better ones in Reno, but this is my personal preference... I love smaller bite sized portions... the sushi hand rolls were smaller and delicate. Fresh and good options. Casual ambience for sure, will definitely go back.

I was really impressed with O'A sushi. The quality of sushi was excellent, and the service was incredibly fast without feeling rushed. My favorite roll was the Tundra and my favorite appetizers were the Donald Duck and Yakiton!

I've been gatekeeping this place because although the place is small and is no frills, the service is really excellent and the sushi always fresh. At least every time I go there. I really like how their staff is so friendly that they take time to talk to you even though they're busy. And the chefs...I just have to say that they are very accommodating. If there's something you want that's not on the menu, just ask and they will try their best to accommodate. I do not like any sauce or mayo at all and they are really good at making sure I didn't have any in all of my orders. They even ask if you're ok with certain ingredients before serving your order to you. I especially like the fact that the portions are just right, and not too much rice. Perfect balance of fish and rice. I definitely like eating here.

Tried the sushi at O'A Chinese Restaurant and Sushi--pretty good overall! The fish was fresh, and the service was great, but the sushi rice was on the sweeter side for my preference. The restaurant is small but not too busy, so it's worth a try for a casual eat!

I brought the family on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't so busy, but then the dinner crowd started coming in and it started taking noticably longer to get our rolls. I get it, but some weren't so understanding. I liked that the sushi was fresh and the staff was kind. Although some of the rolls were pretty good, there wasn't enough for us to want to return. The rollers had a hard time with vegan orders, while they didn't add meat, they still added mayo. They would also plate them along side our rolls that had fish on them, after asking them to please keep them separate. I know vegan's preferences take time to adjust to and we hope they work that out.

This was our first time coming here for sushi and it was a pretty good experience! We were able to be seated promptly upon our arrival around 5:30pm without a reservation. Prices for an AYCE dinner were comparable to other places in town. We came on a Monday which is when they had a deal for a free drink with AYCE, so we each got a beer to enjoy with our food. We ordered several appetizers and our favorites were the potstickers and mussels. We got so many different types of sushi and were pretty pleased with all of them except for the deep fried one, it tasted too crispy and almost like a fried chicken which was strange. The nigiri was the best part, we loved the salmon and yellowtail ones. The food came out at a good pace, we were never left waiting too long for the next round of food. We each got a dessert, I enjoyed their sorbet and my husband got tempura ice cream. This was a good experience overall but nothing stood out to make it exceptional compared to other sushi spots in Reno, so it earns 4 stars instead of 5 from us!

The time it was just my husband and I was so slow. We also sat down as the second table. They had a full staff and it took the longest. The food is good. I rate the roles at a 3, but note. I like simple sushi. So I tried the rolls just to try and see what they taste like. Its good if you like likes of flavor. It removes what people say is the fishy taste. I love the taste of fish. So I typically lean towards nigiri. I will amdit their sashimi salad as a 5/5. I loved it. I thought we could order 1 per round, but thats not the case. Look at the menu and its once per visit. The salmon hand roll is a 1 for me. It was not very crispy and hard to power through. So I dont recommend that, but they do a roll of it. So if you share with friends it might be worth while. The Niger I rate a 3.5/5. There was a lot of rice, but they also give a good size slice of fish. What got me was it didn't have that crisp taste when I ate it. Its hard to explain. The food quality is good. Don't get me wrong. Just the service and my simple taste buds. Its very popular and many locals love it. The lady was very sweet, when we got to speak with her. So don't let my rating and my taste buds hinder you from eating here. So give them a try.

As far as AYCE goes, the sushi is 5 stars, (not the same as 5 stars at a high-end sushi spot.)…read moreOverall experience is closer to a four. This long-time Reno favorite is especially popular with the younger crowd due to the South Midtown location. Popularity is its main weakness though as it makes parking a headache, (not an area to leave valuables), and there is almost always a wait, often nearing or exceeding an hour during prime weekend dinners. No reservations. Don't be surprised if you have to wait outside or in your car. Once seated, place fewer large orders instead of many small ones since staff are stretched thin. Conversation can be tough with the loud packed room and music. Sports usually on big screens. Even at the sushi bar, it is not the usual experience. You still order on paper. High bar fridges block the view, and with 6 to 8 chefs working fast, conversation is unlikely. You are there to eat, not watch the craft or make a new friend behind the bar. Fish quality is about as good as AYCE gets in Reno, and the rice is less sugary than most. Nigiri often has the best fish-to-rice ratio in town. Good roll selection, including a Salmon Skin Handroll. Like many spots, some rolls are heavy on eel sauce or mayo, making the fish secondary unless you skip sauce or choose simpler options. The baked mussel appetizer was drenched in sweet sauce and tasted like candy. Surprised there was no mayo on those too. Price is a couple dollars above average local AYCE but worth it if you tolerate the wait, still cheaper than casinos. Monday through Thursday, sake is included. Arguably the best spot in Reno right now, though on a busy night I might pick one of the close seconds if I want to eat quickly. NOTE: It appeared they charged a higher tip than I left, so check your credit card charge a few days later

Upon being seated, we were told to fill out the all-you-can-eat order form as many times as we wanted, which sounded great. I personally don't eat sushi, but I appreciated that they offered protein options like chicken and beef. I ordered a Bento box--simple enough. That's where things started to go downhill. My meal didn't arrive for over 30 minutes, and when it finally did, it was cold. The chicken tasted like pressed meat and was extremely chewy--definitely not what you'd expect from a basic entrée. I wasn't planning to complain, but it became clear the issue wasn't just my order. The other four people in my group were barely being served at all. Meanwhile, tables that were seated after us were receiving multiple rounds of food while we continued waiting. We asked several servers for updates, and each time we were told they'd check on it--only for them to disappear for 10-15 minutes with no follow-up. After spending over two hours there, many of us left hungry and frustrated. I understand places like this may rely on high turnover or tourist traffic, but customer service and basic food quality should still matter. If you're taking the time to read reviews before choosing where to eat, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. And just to top it off--the ice cream was so frozen solid in its pre-staged cup that the spoon couldn't even break through it.

They did an amazing job with the interiors and it has a high-end dining vibe. However, there are several things in the customer service department that needs improvement. First, it's impossible to get a table without a reservation, unless you're willing to wait 20+ minutes. One reason is the chaotic triage process at the front. There isn't enough dedicated space for the waiting area, and as soon as there is more than 1 group, the system implodes. This means that, even if you walk in with a reservation, you get lost in the crowd until the host can effectively sort out who's who. Second, while your order might come out at a reasonable speed, it's impossible to get anything else. The servers are always busy, and every time we have asked for a refill, another roll, a box, etc, we eventually just give up and hope that we aren't charged for something we didn't get. I still find myself coming back since this is the only sushi restaurant that seems to have high quality food and well-balanced flavors. Most places seem to prioritize quantity over quality now. Just be prepared for some glitches in customer service, adjust your expectations, and you can still walk away having eaten a great meal.
