Haven't been to this place in a long while and was reminded of how good the sushi was here today. Although, the service was mediocre due to the fact that my grandson ordered 1 roll that took 45 minutes to get! He was doing all you can eat but filled up on apps and nigiri before his roll showed up. It was a deep fried California roll ( Not much to make). We asked 3 times where his roll was and they kept replying "its coming". Well, it came a little late and we asked if we could take it to go? They replied "Sure" but ddid not tell us they were going to tack on 5 dollars to the bill. Sorry, but with all the sushi joints around, I will be eating elswhere.

The sushi is good, service was a little slow. My grandson didn't get his roll until we were all done with ours. He had been eating ours as he was waiting, by the time he got his roll he was full. They let us take it to go but charged us $5 on top of the $16.95 for his all you can eat. Bad customer service, his roll took an hour to get. Hmmmm. Too many other good sushi restaurants in town to not have good service. I will make a different choice next time I go out for sushi.

Hungry for sushi but didn't have time to drive to my favorite spot. They have a lunch special for $14.95 here for a roll, appetizer and nigiri. When I arrived, decided instead to have the AYCE. First I ordered the mussels and they have a limit on the number you can order. The mussels were super tiny, the size of an almond, which is something different than I have experience at other restaurants. It was good, but definitely could eat much more. I then proceeded to order the nigiri. The fish was good except for the tuna which had a weird texture. One thing I noticed was that the rice was overcooked like the cheap sushi that you get sometimes in the refrigerator section of grocery store. I found the meal to be just ok. Not sure if I would visit again.

We're visiting from out of town California, to be exact and had a craving for sushi when we found this place. They had a good variety of sushi rolls, and the restaurant was empty when we arrived. My family noticed the all-you-can-eat option at the top of the menu, so I asked the waiter for more details. Unfortunately, he seemed annoyed, even after I explained it was our first time there. Despite that, we decided to try the all-you-can-eat option and placed a fairly large first order. That's when things started to go wrong. We waited 30 minutes for our appetizers and only received two rolls. Eventually, I had to get up to ask where our food was because my two kids were starving. By then, the restaurant had filled up, and I overheard an employee say they were short-staffed, which I could understand. However, it was frustrating to watch other tables even those seated after us getting their food promptly and receiving attention from the staff, while we were overlooked. After speaking to four different staff members, we finally got all our food just 10 minutes before closing, once the restaurant was empty. I shared my concern with the waiter because it felt like my family was treated unfairly. Waiting hours for food while my kids went hungry was a terrible experience. Although the waiter apologized, the overall experience was disappointing, and I wouldn't return or recommend this place to anyone visiting Nevada.

All you can eat sushi here was amazing! Customer service especially the sushi chefs they were friendly greeting from the moment you came in to when you left. You are able to order 3 rounds of appetizers and 3 rounds of sushi at first I was like that's it but once you order 1st round your so full my kids love sushi and wanted to try so many that the second round we barely ordered any. If you get to 3 rounds wow you'd be stuff. The sushi one roll was my favorite and the salmon skin salad was delicious and the upside down tempura. So many names I can't remember but those 3 are a must try.

This place used to be RickShaw, and I'm happy to see that some of the familiar faces are still here and that's always a good sign. I'm glad they stayed. The food is still good, just like I remember, and the service remains solid. The ambiance hasn't changed much either, which gives it a nice sense of continuity. It feels like the good parts stuck around, and I appreciate that.

Well, my husband and I came into Sushi One today and it wasn't the Sushi One that I know and love generally. Today, we had sat at the bar and felt rushed to order an appetizer. I have never been to a restaurant where the employees micromanage the customers. So to make a long story short. The sushi chef we had at the bar took what seemed forever to make a long roll. He didn't wrap the sushi enough to stay together. Every time I took a bite the roll kept falling apart. I wasnt impressed with the service today. I won't come back in unless Kenny is there. By the way, if a restaurant is going to provide food service, please have all of your employees wear hair restraints. Yes, I did have a hair in my food!

My family and I just happen to be on this side of town today and decided to stop in for some all you can eat! The quality of the fish was really fresh! We were all pleased with everything we ate here today. The service was speedy and friendly. It's really great having more sushi options in town! My only negative was that their restroom had a sewer type smell? Which I used after our meal. It didn't take away from how good the food was. I just wanted to mention it so maybe it won't be this way next time.

6/18/2023- Father's Day Dinner for two.. only had lunch before.: Expected to be crowded, and it was.. We were seated in a cramped, small table.. I had positive thoughts at first.. and was glad they offered hamachi Kama with dinner.. Service could of been more attentive.. Appetizers- decent-the salmon skin salad was good, but too many jalapeños.. the salmon skin should of been diced smaller.. I've never seen an order sheet with three rounds ..lol.. My order sheet did have the nigiri maguro-but it never arrived.. Ordered the alligator roll, and unagi.. The salmon skin hand roll was really terrible.. large pieces of hard salmon skin wrapped in the middle-and no flavor.. Background music of the 80's was not appealing-nor was the screaming toddler -constantly crying .. Think we will just stay with our regular sushi place across the street..

I will let the pictures speak for themselves. This place is our favorite, we have been coming for over 12 years and it's amazing every single time.

Sushi One is hidden right in plain sight. It's location is on Virginia St., just north of 395/580 when it crosses Virginia St. on the east side in the shopping center is with Big 5. They have a nice lunch special that won't put you into a sushi coma. As of February, 2024 it is $14.95 and it comes with one roll, 2 pcs of nigiri, and one appetizer. The third roll, we requested since an additional roll is $5.50. It was fresh and good quality. Perfect for lunch and you won't have to waddle back to your office. You can see this and other specials they have on their website. https://www.foodbooking.com/ordering/restaurant/menu?restaurant_uid=5835c5ef-0263-439a-8e74-6750e648f518 My wife and I arrived about half past 11:00 AM. They still were not busy which made it a wonderful dining experience. We were given A1 treatment. A small advantage when arriving so early. The wasabi, for me, a determining factor of how fresh and food turnover the restaurant is. If the wasabi burns through you sinus and you can smell the pine coming off Mt. Rose, you know it's fresh! Sushi One, is that fresh. The fish was fresh, not slippery nor was there any fishy odor. Atmosphere was good. I would say, Reno traditional. Nothing was broke or of need of repair. The only thing I could spot was the restroom. The doorknob on the men's room was loose, but it still did it's job. The bottom of the commode was either dirty or there may have been crack. None of that impeded its performance. I know, it sounds weird that I would review the restrooms, but it does have impact on the restaurant being reviewed. There was no graffiti anywhere. I was pleased about that. There is plenty of parking Will I go back for another performance? Yes, both I and my wife enjoyed it.

I like simple sushi. So I tried the rolls just to try and see what they taste like. Its good if you like likes of flavor. It removes what people say is the fishy taste. I love the taste of fish. So I typically lean towards nigiri. I will amdit their sashimi salad as a 5/5. I loved it. I thought we could order 1 per round, but thats not the case. Look at the menu and its once per visit. The salmon hand roll is a 1 for me. It was not very crispy and hard to power through. So I dont recommend that, but they do a roll of it. So if you share with friends it might be worth while. The Niger I rate a 3.5/5. There was a lot of rice, but they also give a good size slice of fish. What got me was it didn't have that crisp taste when I ate it. Its hard to explain. The food quality is good. Don't get me wrong. Just the service and my simple taste buds. Its very popular and many locals love it. The lady was very sweet, when we got to speak with her. So don't let my rating and my taste buds hinder you from eating here. So give them a try.

This long-time Reno favorite is especially popular with the younger crowd due to the South Midtown location. Popularity is its main weakness though as it makes parking a headache, (not an area to leave valuables), and there is almost always a wait, often nearing or exceeding an hour during prime weekend dinners. No reservations. Don't be surprised if you have to wait outside or in your car. Once seated, place fewer large orders instead of many small ones since staff are stretched thin. Conversation can be tough with the loud packed room and music. Sports usually on big screens. Even at the sushi bar, it is not the usual experience. You still order on paper. High bar fridges block the view, and with 6 to 8 chefs working fast, conversation is unlikely. You are there to eat, not watch the craft or make a new friend behind the bar. Fish quality is about as good as AYCE gets in Reno, and the rice is less sugary than most. Nigiri often has the best fish-to-rice ratio in town. Good roll selection, including a Salmon Skin Handroll. Like many spots, some rolls are heavy on eel sauce or mayo, making the fish secondary unless you skip sauce or choose simpler options. The baked mussel appetizer was drenched in sweet sauce and tasted like candy. Surprised there was no mayo on those too. Price is a couple dollars above average local AYCE but worth it if you tolerate the wait, still cheaper than casinos. Monday through Thursday, sake is included. Arguably the best spot in Reno right now, though on a busy night I might pick one of the close seconds if I want to eat quickly. NOTE: It appeared they charged a higher tip than I left, so check your credit card charge a few days later

Upon being seated, we were told to fill out the all-you-can-eat order form as many times as we wanted, which sounded great. I personally don't eat sushi, but I appreciated that they offered protein options like chicken and beef. I ordered a Bento box--simple enough. That's where things started to go downhill. My meal didn't arrive for over 30 minutes, and when it finally did, it was cold. The chicken tasted like pressed meat and was extremely chewy--definitely not what you'd expect from a basic entrée. I wasn't planning to complain, but it became clear the issue wasn't just my order. The other four people in my group were barely being served at all. Meanwhile, tables that were seated after us were receiving multiple rounds of food while we continued waiting. We asked several servers for updates, and each time we were told they'd check on it--only for them to disappear for 10-15 minutes with no follow-up. After spending over two hours there, many of us left hungry and frustrated. I understand places like this may rely on high turnover or tourist traffic, but customer service and basic food quality should still matter. If you're taking the time to read reviews before choosing where to eat, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. And just to top it off--the ice cream was so frozen solid in its pre-staged cup that the spoon couldn't even break through it.

This means that, even if you walk in with a reservation, you get lost in the crowd until the host can effectively sort out who's who. Second, while your order might come out at a reasonable speed, it's impossible to get anything else. The servers are always busy, and every time we have asked for a refill, another roll, a box, etc, we eventually just give up and hope that we aren't charged for something we didn't get. I still find myself coming back since this is the only sushi restaurant that seems to have high quality food and well-balanced flavors. Most places seem to prioritize quantity over quality now. Just be prepared for some glitches in customer service, adjust your expectations, and you can still walk away having eaten a great meal.

I think what set this place apart from other spots was the well portioned rolls, nigiri, and the variation of fillings inside the rolls. I feel some places go heavy and hard on the fried shrimp but Umi had a wonderful mix of fish and shrimp and other roll fillings. My favorite hands down was the Vegas roll with the savory tuna, followed by the crown shrimp roll with a mayo topping the really brought out the umami flavor. While this spot is a little out of the way for us I definitely plan on revisiting soon and recommend this as a go to spot for both locals and those who are traveling from outside the area.

We had a great experience at Umi sushi for lunch today. I had never been and our friends wanted to…read morego. They sat the 4 of us right away. A server came and he recognized my friend from the other week and greeted him. Some people have mentioned the fish being small on the nigiri. Smaller than some other restaurants, but the fish to rice ratio is good. There were a lot of good options for the rolls. I tend to like ones that have some lemon and they tasted nice and fresh. I felt the crystal shrimp was more crisp than some other places like it hadn't been sitting as long. We did get checked on frequently so had no issues with ordering. While it was nice having things come out at different times, we did have a pause and forgot about some rolls we ordered and were stuffed by the end. Next time, I think we would order rolls in 1 roll increments versus 2 of the same flavor for 4 people.
