Went to this place today and had to come back with a great review the same day. Such a beautiful location, you can tell they put love into this restaurant. Being the first ones in and everyone was very welcoming. They made the food very fast!! Everything was extremely delicious, the yakiton had a real extreme depth of flavor, the sweet potato fries were perfect and my s/o finished his edamame in a minute. Every roll we had was so crazy good. And my s/o said the nigiri was the freshest he's had, the salmon literally melts in your mouth. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Cucumber salad A little on the mushy and wobbly side and way too sweet. You can tell the cucumber is not that fresh. Avoid. Nigiri Hamachi nigiri nice and buttery but I wish the person was larger. Maguro Nigiri pretty good flavor, pretty good texture, but I wish the portion was bigger. Gyoza Gyoza surprisingly crunchy, didn't have much meat but overall not bad for an appetizer. Rolls Godzilla roll - has a nice crunchy exterior with a little fire to it... I remembered that the fish here is cooked so you don't really get the raw fish flavor. Spider roll is wrapped in a traditional seaweed paper - actually, I couldn't even tell it was a spider roll because there's no legs sticking out but after one bite, you'll know it's pretty good. Hamachi Kama Otherwise known as yellowtail collar. They actually give you three pretty big chunks of fish here which had great flavor, tender meat, very succulent, rich mouth feel. Comes with a dipping sauce and all for less than seven dollars is quite a deal. The only thing it lacks is it needs just a single scoop of white or brown rice. Rolls were very decently rolled not the kind that falls apart when you grab it and it wasn't overloaded with rice! Majority of the AYCE sushi places out there intentionally make their rolls with more rice so you'd get fuller sooner. Nigiri was fresh and they actually had more than just salmon and tuna. We came her a few weeks ago on a Monday we were both off. The staff were extremely friendly and diverse. Unfortunately, food was not up to my standards. I'm fairly picky with my sushi spots. The long roll pieces were very large, making them difficult to eat in one easy bite. There were not any rolls that contained scallops... besides the scallop nigiri. Just flew in from Seattle, WA for a conference at the Peppermill Casino. It was my first time here and I was looking for decent priced sushi in the area. (The sushi offered in the casino was ridiculously priced.) I found Sushi One through Yelp 1.5 miles down the street. The restaurant was cozy with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The first night I ordered way too much. The sushi was super delicious! The waiter and staff were super nice. I asked for a salmon roll and the waiter recommended the Triple S premium roll. The crispy calamari is the best I've ever had! They were super crispy and came in giant strips with a sauce drizzled on top, SO good! I'm also a huge fan of edamame so I ordered 2 of them. The Triple S premium roll was also very delicious! I came back two days later and the sushi chef remembered me and welcomed me back. Super impressed with their excellent service! I did see on the website they offered all you can eat sushi and I would love to come by one day for that experience maybe when I have company. Our first time in for lunch 4/16/24 and we loved it.. The server said her favorite roll was the Godzilla roll so we ordered that.,. And it was outstanding! "Crunchy perfection". Today was our first time here - never been to an all you can eat type of sushi place... First off a huge shout out to Eric - who was a very nice waiter....we would not have even able to understand how the rounds worked without him.. he was very kind and patient - and - he wasn't even our waiter... The waitress who we had - Choo- was a nightmare- she has a terrible attitude and her poor English and thick accent made things even worse- she wasn't even nice. By far - she gave my family and i the worst customer service ever... who does that to your potential tipper??? How stupid can you be? She did not explain that if there are four people on the appetizer section - you need to put the number 4 on there - we just assumed that by checking the box - we would all receive miso soup - not just one person - and when we asked for three more soups- she was flat out rude telling me that because we did not order it - we could not have it. She eventually did bring it but not without giving us a nasty attitude. On the upside... The food was great - ceviche roll was FIRE!! WEEKDAY LUNCH- COVID-limbo-times. Easy parking, immediately seated, and drink orders taken promptly. Staff were all still wearing masks but not sure each customer is required to when they enter/exit. They use ordering sheets here, so you start with the appetizers sheet and then the sushi. Nothing special about the appetizers we ordered, so next time I'll go right to the sushi. Amazing fish to rice ratio on the nigiri and hand rolls compared to most of the other places I've tried in the Reno/Sparks area. I appreciate how they definitely don't skimp on the fish! Rolls were delicious too. Service was also very timely because we came towards the end of weekday lunch hour and the place cleared out by the middle of our meal. Favorites: Donald nigiri, Seared Maguro nigiri, Rainbow Handroll, Salmon Skin Handroll, & Snow Mountain roll. We skipped the dessert because we were soooo full from all the sushi and they didn't have chocolate mochi ice cream :( (only strawberry or mango), so my meal didn't feel complete afterwards, but that was my choice not to try any other desserts. This has been my favorite sushi restaurant for years. The food is delicious. The reason I am writing this bad review is their service. The first time I thought mistakes happen. This is now the 3rd time. I am not going back. The problem is the sushi chefs only half way listen when you place your order. 3 times in a row we ended up with double our order because they wont listen. Then blame it on you. I went to Sushi One for the first time last night for a friend's birthday and definitely have to say I was pleasantly surprised as someone who has already found their favorite sushi spots in town! This one will definitely be added to the list. To start off with, this is one of the cheaper places for AYCE that I've seen, with $26 at dinner time! They also offer a free small hot sake M-Th I believe. The ambiance inside is wonderful, with lovely decor and it feels much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside! I really was not a fan of this place. I am already to fish eggs (masago, tobiko) so whenever I go to a place to get sushi I ask if there stations are sanitary. I want to make sure the fish eggs don't cross contaminate into a potential roll I order. I asked the waitress about this and she suggested that I don't order the sushi in case fish eggs do get on my roll. I was disappointed because I really would have liked to get sushi for my dinner but decided to just get a teriyaki chicken place. When I got my chicken, I was not very impressed. The chicken was a strange texture, chewy, fatty with very little actual meat. Needless to say I wasted my money on a meal I didn't eat. Absolutely disgusting. As someone with a thick stomach and an sushi eater I've never gotten food poisoning. Unfortunately when I went here, once I got home everything I ate left my stomach. The first sign of trouble started when my friend stated that "this salmon doesn't taste good" then spit it out. He was lucky while I wasn't. We are obsessed with this place! They have an insane $20 take out deal right now that we've already ordered multiple times. For $20 you can get three rolls, four pieces of nigiri, and two small appetizers. Absolutely the best deal in town (trust me, I've obsessed with finding deals). Our favorite roll is the k-love. Love the salmon skin salad, gyoza, and calamari. The only thing I wouldn't order again is the scallop nigiri. The kind of scallop they use is not what I'm used to back home and it was like 20% fish and 80% rice. The other nigiris are way better and have better fish to rice ratio. The service on the phone is incredibly efficient. I write down everything I want to order on on notes app and just read it to them and its like boom boom boom okay ready in 15 minutes. I visited Sushi One in the afternoon (an hour before their 3 PM closing for lunch) on Thursday, Apr 11. Its a very nice place but what is exceptional (for me) was the AYCE lunch. Wow! Unlike many AYCE places I have been to, pretty much their entire menu is available for their AYCE lunch. The cost is an astonishing 25.99 for lunch (31.99 for dinner). The ONLY "limit" I could find was you could only order two orders (2 pieces per order) of their Unagi nigiri. That was IT. Everything else appeared to be completely unlimited. This included their entire roll menu (raw, cooked, specials), their entire nigiri menu, special hand rolls, and a selection of appetizers. I ordered their mussel appetizer, miso soup and a small cucumber salad. All was delicious. I also ordered three rolls. Catepillar, Tiger and Rainbow, plus Hamachi nigiri. All was fresh, and awesome. Compared to some AYCE places, the portions were good (not HUGE but definitely sizable), and the quality was EXCELLENT! I ordered three more mussel appetizers plus two Unagi nigiri "desserts". I was stuffed. The food was excellent, the service superb and the experience was terrific. I would love to go with 2-3 people (I was solo this time) because I would love to taste more of the various rolls they make and I just can't eat enough (although I ate PLENTY!) to do that as you do have to mostly finish what you order which is fair. No take-home allowed (also fair). For the price, it is pretty amazing. I wish we had a place in the Bay area even remotely as good. We used to have Todai buffet which was great too, but it is closed, and all the remaining AYCE are anemic at best. Yeah not happy with these guys. We got half our order and waited almost half an hour before asking for the rest of "round 1". The waitress has the audacity to tell us we would be charged if we didn't finish it. There were 3 of us. All you can eat, ordered apps, 6 rolls and some nigiri. Nothing huge and would have been done after one. I will never come back after this experience. The rudeness here from the staff was mind boggling.
