Due to construction in their parking lot and limited parking, we decided to dine here instead of leaving and risk not having somewhere to park upon our return. It was a Friday evening and everywhere was busy. We came by a little after 8pm and was quoted a 30-40 min wait time and I opted to be on their waitlist. Lucky for us, our wait was more like 15-20 minutes. The interior is bright & modern with 2 large screens on opposite sides that display travel destinations and locations. Seating was either in booths, at the bar, or tables with chairs. The noise level in here gets pretty loud due to the acoustics. We were seated and given menus on tablets. Water was given pretty quickly but the bread took a tad longer. Our waitress was friendly, explained the menu to us, and answered any questions we had (despite her being busy). My only critique re their AYCE is that it has one price for adults only. They don't have a separate price for children. She also kindly told me that their portions were big, so that was very helpful. I have not dined here in a number of years and their portions prior used to be smaller. Items ordered: 2x cup of clam chowder- Good flavor and plenty of clams Fish and Chips- Delicious, perfectly seasoned and battered and not dry! One of the best fish and chips I have had in a long time and it was a very pleasant surprise. Shrimp scampi- Delicious generous portion of pasta and shrimp. Chef's Mixed Grill- Loved the presentation and flavors of veggies and protein. The couscous had way too much parmesan and was literally stuck together. Def did not enjoy that texture or taste of the couscous. California Roll- I love that this roll has real crab and tastes so much better than the Ca rolls made with imitation crab. The server had a large party to tend to but 4 times he said to me over his shoulder "I'll be right with you...". It was getting ridiculous. He finally took my order. My food was good. Ended up getting chowder and a lobster roll. Then I go to pay and put down my player's card for my locals 20% discount. He says "Oh, no...not at lunch.". WHAT? Since when? I couldn't believe this and then just days later, I was driving north on 395 and the "Peppermill billboard says 20% off for locals...all day...every day." Policy change? Change your billboard. Pair it with a good beverage and have a seat watching the screen of the world's images or having a good dinner companion makes this an excellent experience. I probably wouldn't order the Chefs Mixed Grilled again (Contains: Prawn, Halibut, Salmon, Sea Bass). You get a nice size portion of each fish and I'm no stranger to these three choices. I don't frequent this place enough. It hits high marks on all of my "wants to go well" categories! We had a group of eight and not one thing disappointed anyone. Our waiter "Jaxon" was as perfect as could possible be. Food was pretty darn spectacular. The halibut that was served to my seat mate was an impressively large cut which surprised us. Not sure why, but it was beautifully larger than expected and beautifully prepared. My go to here is the Dungeness Crab salad and it was fab. I ordered extra crab but that was simply decadent. Upon visiting my condominium in Reno, I found myself craving the sushi at Oceano! I've had their all-you-can eat before and it really never disappoints! However today was extremely exceptional! From the moment I arrived I was greeted by a warm staff member who engaged in conversation while taking me to my seat. I was given the option of booth or table and I chose a booth...very comfortable seats and a nice view of the dining room and sushi bar. I once again went with the all-you-can eat and my server immediately brought me water and introduced himself as Alex. He was friendly, cordial, polite and professional. Upon letting him know my dining option he brought me a sushi list to fill out and fill it out I did...nigiri yellowtail tuna, ahi tuna, baked mussels, ikura(salmon roe) tobiko with quail egg, ika(squid) and two hand rolls, which were outstanding and expertly prepared (spicy tuna and crystal shrimp). Also included were a choice of appetizers which I chose a seaweed salad and fried lumpia. I've probably had this meal maybe a dozen times but today felt extra special, all the sushi was prepared perfectly and delicious so I had to get the chefs to take a photo together! Not a bad sushi place, but not my preferred one unless my family/friends want to go here. It is inside the Peppermill. You can find parking at the northern parking lot and walk right in since it's near that entrance. You can make a reservation online, but you need to call in if your reservation has more than 4 people. Sushi has been pretty consistent and fresh, and I like how they don't put too much rice. It might depend on who is making the nigiri or rolls, though. I like how they have tablet menus. I mostly order the nigiri when I'm here. I think one thing that stuck with me from my initial visit a few years ago was when they made a stink about splitting the bill. The waitress dropped off the bill, and when she came back, I asked to split it with a co-worker. She gave some attitude, saying she wished I had told her earlier and that she doesn't think she can do it/needs to get a manager (???). I've never had a problem splitting a bill at the Peppermill before, and I've worked there as a cashier. It's not that hard. This small interaction just put a bad taste in my mouth at the end of the meal. It's a bit more expensive since it's in a casino, but locals get 20% off, which puts it around the same price as other sushi places. The menu is the same for lunch and dinner, so eating lunch is better if you want to save some money. read more

We went to all all you can eat sushi at Oceano inside the Pepper Mill Casino for dinner. We enjoyed multiple sushi rolls, and it is so funny how your server can make or break your experience. I think our waitress went above and beyond on this visit, which started when she asked if we wanted lemon for our water and concluded with her bringing warm hand towels before we departed. My review is based on 1 visit as tourist visiting family. This place has great ayce sushi option. For lunch it was $39, which isn't too much more than some of the other sushi ayce lunch prices but I think it does offer more. The ambiance really feels like a larger Vegas casino restaurant. The decor is Aqua Ice, cool ocean tones and bit over the top; opposite of a sleek modern feel. Because this restaurant does not only focus on Japanese foods, you are offered foods like fresh sourdough bread, delicious clam chowder soup as options. Dessert was typical ice creams, but there is a raspberry sorbet there is super refreshing. It was also nice to see a female sushi chef behind the bar; usually it is very rare to see females making sushi in nicer restaurants (High gatekeeping in traditional Japanese sushi houses). We ate here on Thanksgiving lunch, and they were quite steady full, but the waiter said this was slow for him. This so far is my #1 sushi place I've tried in Reno, the home of MANY ayce sushi. Ordered the tempura vegetables, which were really tasty, and battered very well! It wasn't paired with traditional sauce, but rather a miso type of dipping sauce. It was good, just interesting and not traditional. There was also complimentary bread, which was warm and tasty. We also ordered seafood pasta, which was okay in my opinion. It should be called fish pasta, because that's the only seafood in it, which was a bit bland for me. We came in for lunch on a Sunday with reservation for the ayce sushi, I think it was $36.99. Our server was very nice and patient with us. The interior is beautiful as is everything in peppermill. Not everything is included in the AYCE though. The sashimi and premium rolls were excluded, as well as anything uni. Kinda dumb. We ordered a lot of nigiri's and a few rolls. We did appreciate that the nigiri's had a pretty small rice ball and the rolls were good although definitely the fish on the nigiri's are way bigger. The baked mussels were one of my fave. They didn't come out super fast but it wasn't extremely long where you think it's their game play haha. read more
