Ordered the tempura vegetables, which were really tasty, and battered very well! It wasn't paired with traditional sauce, but rather a miso type of dipping sauce. It was good, just interesting and not traditional. There was also complimentary bread, which was warm and tasty. We also ordered seafood pasta, which was okay in my opinion. It should be called fish pasta, because that's the only seafood in it, which was a bit bland for me. We came in for lunch on a Sunday with reservation for the ayce sushi, I think it was $36.99. Our server was very nice and patient with us. The interior is beautiful as is everything in peppermill. Not everything is included in the AYCE though. The sashimi and premium rolls were excluded, as well as anything uni. Kinda dumb. We ordered a lot of nigiri's and a few rolls. We did appreciate that the nigiri's had a pretty small rice ball and the rolls were good although definitely the fish on the nigiri's are way bigger. The baked mussels were one of my fave. Upon visiting my condominium in Reno, I found myself craving the sushi at Oceano! I've had their all-you-can eat before and it really never disappoints! However today was extremely exceptional! From the moment I arrived I was greeted by a warm staff member who engaged in conversation while taking me to my seat. I was given the option of booth or table and I chose a booth...very comfortable seats and a nice view of the dining room and sushi bar. I once again went with the all-you-can eat and my server immediately brought me water and introduced himself as Alex. He was friendly, cordial, polite and professional. Upon letting him know my dining option he brought me a sushi list to fill out and fill it out I did...nigiri yellowtail tuna, ahi tuna, baked mussels, ikura(salmon roe) tobiko with quail egg, ika(squid) and two hand rolls, which were outstanding and expertly prepared (spicy tuna and crystal shrimp). Also included were a choice of appetizers which I chose a seaweed salad and fried lumpia. I've probably had this meal maybe a dozen times but today felt extra special, all the sushi was prepared perfectly and delicious so I had to get the chefs to take a photo together! My review is based on 1 visit as tourist visiting family. This place has great ayce sushi option. For lunch it was $39, which isn't too much more than some of the other sushi ayce lunch prices but I think it does offer more. The ambiance really feels like a larger Vegas casino restaurant. The decor is Aqua Ice, cool ocean tones and bit over the top; opposite of a sleek modern feel. Because this restaurant does not only focus on Japanese foods, you are offered foods like fresh sourdough bread, delicious clam chowder soup as options. Dessert was typical ice creams, but there is a raspberry sorbet there is super refreshing. It was also nice to see a female sushi chef behind the bar; usually it is very rare to see females making sushi in nicer restaurants (High gatekeeping in traditional Japanese sushi houses). We ate here on Thanksgiving lunch, and they were quite steady full, but the waiter said this was slow for him. This so far is my #1 sushi place I've tried in Reno, the home of MANY ayce sushi. First time trying Oceano at Peppermill. Convenient that location is right outside the public parking so no need to navigate into the casino to try to find it. Made a reservation online for a Friday night. We decided to do AYCE sushi for both of us. One of the policy is to make sure you finish your sushi or else get a surcharge, specifically the rice. Made sure we didn't order too much since we tried a few specialty sushi's not found in other restaurants. Once seated, you don't have to leave and get your sushi at an open sushi bar. All the sushi and items are made to order. A lot of employees working and walking around but took our waitress a good 10 mins to get to us. A paper slip with sushi is given and you check mark which ones you want. Each sushi is 2 pieces which I think is a great idea to not waste. We ordered Edamame Miso soup Mickey Mouse Goofy Donald Duck Unagi Mussels Tigerashi Chicken wings California roll. The sushi was great. My wife ordered the "Disney" name sushi expecting it was gonna look like their character... not sure why she expected that, but it looked just like sushi and hard to distinguish which one was Mickey and which one is Goofy. Lucky they leave an iPad to review the sushi. We enjoyed the bake mussels though when we got a second order, it was prepared differently than the first time (which had a drop of sriracha). Likely different sushi chef making it. The Tigerashi chicken wings (2 orders , 4 total) was good. But sticky and saucy. If I was to do it again, I might skip it or just do one order. My wife tried one but didn't get her second piece. I had to finish the 3 and was a chore and messy with my fingers all sticky and no wet nap. It was good but not addicting. For the price, I think we ate our moneys worth considering the price per sushi when not Ayce. Would I go again? We went to all all you can eat sushi at Oceano inside the Pepper Mill Casino for dinner. We enjoyed multiple sushi rolls, and it is so funny how your server can make or break your experience. I think our waitress went above and beyond on this visit, which started when she asked if we wanted lemon for our water and concluded with her bringing warm hand towels before we departed. Out of all the times I've heard of this place, I'm surprised I hadn't checked it out sooner. My husband and I finally went and we were impressed with the decor and ambiance as well as the service. And the plus side was they had one of the cleanest high chairs I've seen for our 10 month baby. The complimentary warm bread and whipped butter are amazing. The sashimi was all really good and so were the wings on the appetizers section. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the coconut pie dessert. You are given a list to choose from and the list is extensive. From hand rolls, to long rolls to Nigiri sushi. Every sushi we had was excellent! So fresh and tasty! The salmon was wonderful and fresh. The shrimps were delicious. The Tako was tender, the tobiko nice and crunchy. Just so delicious and fresh! The ambiance is very welcoming and comfortable to be in. I must write a review about our first experience here. First and foremost, I must say that i can't eat fish, but I looooove ayce. I didnt see any veggie only sushi on thr menu at all, but when I asked on Yelp, the owner said they'd do their best to accommodate. I'll tell you- they did! Our waitress was Jasmine (Hope I spelled that correctly). I asked about veggie sushi, and she confirmed with the chefs of what they could make for me. I got a roll with carrot, cucumber, avocado, sprouts, and asparagus I requested the kick of jalapeño, and man, they were phenomenal. Not to mention, thr fresh bread- absolute YUM. Dessert was gelato- best raspberry Gelato I've had. And a close out with a warm towel soaked in almond extract? Mindblown! My hubby had all sorts of rolls, he loves every single one. We were hesitant about going to Oceano because of the 3.8 star review but so glad we did. Our server Anthony was very attentive and super friendly. He was also very helpful in explaining the sushi menu. We even got a piece of chocolate cake to celebrate our 47th anniversary. The only drawback is it is in the casino and the smoke is a bit much for us. We did ask to sit in the back away from the smoke, which the hostess accommodated. This is still a very good seafood restaurant. I think things have changed over the years, as their chefs change. I actually think their sushi is better than it was and it was very good before. Although before it was hard to eat because they used a lot of rice so the pieces were quite large. Now with less rice it's easier to eat .. and I really enjoy it more. My last trip here I had Lobster Bisque that was delicious. But I also ordered the Crab Cake appetizer, and it was just strange. First of all it was shaped like a pie ... do they make it like a pie and serve it in pieces .. didn't care for it very much and will not order it again. Also for lump crab cakes, their should have been some lumps of crab, not just the dry shredded crab. But you absolutely can say nothing wrong about the sour dough bread basket. Make sure to come hungry. I have yet to order the all-you-can-eat. I prefer that each person in my party order a sushi roll and then we can share and enjoy a variety of tastes. Service has always been friendly. I appreciate their patience when I ask about the different types of rolls. There are other dishes if sushi is not your thing such as fried items, soups, and bowls. One tip I tell people is to park on the northeast parking lot to avoid having to walk through the smoke filled crowds of the casino. read more

Easy to read and navigate, these are fun at first, but then become a bit cumbersome because you'll want to keep them to refer to the menu and they're fairly large, plus any responsible diner would not want to damage them. One of my favorite aspects of Oceano is their ability to provide a consistent experience across a restaurant this size. Whether seated at the bar or a table, the food and experience are nearly identical, though I definitely prefer the bar so you can interact with the chef. The menu is easy to understand and order from, with full descriptions of each item and an accompanying sheet to check off for your server, and the food comes out so fast! Getting a reservation can be tricky. Small parties can reserve online but larger than 5-6 you'll need to call well in advance (like 2 weeks for a large party) or be prepared to wait a bit when you arrive. I called 10 days in advance for a party of 8 and could not get a reservation, so make sure you have enough time. While we had a good meal and enjoyed our time, the last visit left me feeling like some things had changed. Specifically the menu seemed a bit more narrow and limited, with the creativity and originality that drew me here not as prevalent, offering more of the expected combinations in the rolls and surprisingly missing some of the popular items available at other local sushi spots i.e. scallop nigiri and hamachi kama. Eventually I noticed that many of these items were now found under the a la carte menu, which was a bit of a disappointment, but the restaurant industry changes so fast and with the rising cost, I'm not surprised by the decisions. Haven't wrote a review for Oceano in a while due to inconsistencies with service, but there is one server there that I'd like to point out and her name is Hannah. Every time we've had her the service has been great and she's the only one that brings you hot towels after your meal to clean your hands. I feel like the sushi here has been improving as the rolls aren't silver dollar sized anymore. One thing I love here are the gyozas. Most AYCE sushi give you deep fried gyozas, here they are actually pan fried and are really good. It's worth it just to come have the gyozas read more

A trio of Tostadas, served with Halibut, Salmon and Sea Bass. topped with a Spicy Cabbage Slaw and a Jalapeño-Cilantro Crema. This dish was absolutely amazing. A friend had the Tuna Tataki Salad. It looked amazing. The ladies had soup and salad. The Clam Chowder here is one of the best. I always love the fresh, warm Sourdough bread they bring to the table. May be a different experience recently as I have not been since FYI Went to Oceano for a sushi lunch with my parents. Hadn't really been there before because we usually only stick to our tried and true sushi place in Reno but my mom's friends really like it so we tried it out. I didn't realize it was a seafood restaurant / sushi so there was a full menu of classic seafood dishes like lobster, clam chowder, etc which threw me off because the server asked if I wanted bread to start when I was there to eat sushi LOL. They use iPads instead of menus which seems.... Excessive? Lol! I guess good for saving paper but that was very strange. The sushi overall was really mid. They didn't have a few of the nigiri I always order and all the nigiri and rolls were very large. We usually prefer our nigiri much smaller so you can try different things. Overall not a bad experience but not as good as our usual Hiroba spot so wouldn't come back if I could choose the location! read more
