Due to construction in their parking lot and limited parking, we decided to dine here instead of leaving and risk not having somewhere to park upon our return. It was a Friday evening and everywhere was busy. We came by a little after 8pm and was quoted a 30-40 min wait time and I opted to be on their waitlist. Lucky for us, our wait was more like 15-20 minutes. The interior is bright & modern with 2 large screens on opposite sides that display travel destinations and locations. Seating was either in booths, at the bar, or tables with chairs. The noise level in here gets pretty loud due to the acoustics. We were seated and given menus on tablets. Water was given pretty quickly but the bread took a tad longer. Our waitress was friendly, explained the menu to us, and answered any questions we had (despite her being busy). My only critique re their AYCE is that it has one price for adults only. They don't have a separate price for children. She also kindly told me that their portions were big, so that was very helpful. I have not dined here in a number of years and their portions prior used to be smaller. Items ordered: 2x cup of clam chowder- Good flavor and plenty of clams Fish and Chips- Delicious, perfectly seasoned and battered and not dry! One of the best fish and chips I have had in a long time and it was a very pleasant surprise. Shrimp scampi- Delicious generous portion of pasta and shrimp. Chef's Mixed Grill- Loved the presentation and flavors of veggies and protein. The couscous had way too much parmesan and was literally stuck together. Def did not enjoy that texture or taste of the couscous. California Roll- I love that this roll has real crab and tastes so much better than the Ca rolls made with imitation crab. Chocolate ice cream- Always a fun treat for kiddo Thanks for the lovely dinner and atmosphere.

Love fish and chips, but their platter with the fried oyster and shrimp sets it off. Pair it with a good beverage and have a seat watching the screen of the world's images or having a good dinner companion makes this an excellent experience. Expensive Busy Sometimes order mishaps occur, but all in all an enjoyable dining experience. I have seen the Peppermills decor changes over 20+ years. The Océano is one of the best of their restaurants.

The service here is great albeit slow. There are lots of servers and lots of hungry people. I prefer smaller traditional Japanese ambiance establishments. Yet. They do a great job. Great greet. Friendly staff. I appreciate a quick bow and smile from the sushi chef. It's the little things. I ordered a traditional cold served unfiltered saki. I requested it heated hot. Often this option isn't available They were happy to oblige, and i got a piping hot sake, which warmed my cold hands from a chili walk outside in the snow Nothing beats cuddling with your hands a hot carafe of hot sake to warm your bones I thought the seaweed salad was a bit boring. It was like everywhere everywhere else, dull. They could do better. On the other hand, I ordered the king salmon Expectations were exceeded in that the salmon was cooked perfectly quite juicy, and it was a sizable slab of flesh I appreciated the fact that the chef didn't ruin the fish with sauces and syrup or flavoring is he just left the fish virgin for me to enjoy It's delicate flavor Six stars for that I'd come back here over and over just for their seafood if it's cooked this way Why only four stars then? I've had their sushi and rolls and I found them quite uninventive and the ambience is very American rather than traditional Japanese But I will come here again and again for their fish entrées. I'll probably try the halibut next.

This is mine and my husband's favorite all you can eat sushi place in Reno. Their Nigiri pieces are generous and fresh and that's typically what we order at all you can eat sushi. Tonight we had probably the best service we've ever had here, our waitress was very attentive and professional. The manager even stopped by to see how things were. I got a pineapple margarita which is always delicious, and my husband got a half bottle of sake which the waitress recommended.

A bit expensive but with great steaks and seafood options. Good size portions and everyone was happy with their choice. I'd suggest a reservation even on weekdays. Was noisy but there was a convention booked that d

Visited: 10-5-25 I didn't have the Sushi so I can't comment on that this time. I did order the Chicken Scaloppini piccata and the Chef's Mixed Grille. The chicken piccata was great!! it also came with mushrooms that made every bite enjoyable. Rich creamy sauce with thin crispy pieces of panko chicken. I probably wouldn't order the Chefs Mixed Grilled again (Contains: Prawn, Halibut, Salmon, Sea Bass). You get a nice size portion of each fish and I'm no stranger to these three choices. For whatever reason the grilled fish had an extremely fishy taste (probably old) which made it not enjoyable at all. The only thing edible was the prawn and you only get 1. I would definitely be back, staff are really nice and consistent and the restaurants decor is beautiful (everything in Peppermill is ;). I enjoyed this lunch date minus the Mixed Grille.....

This review is defective ONLY for the a la cart sushi, tgat is tge only thing I keep coming back for:) there are many AYCE sushi establishments in reno..so.e better than othets.... but... nothing in Nevada comes clise to these two a la cart rolls.... "Lobster rock" and "Dragon", these are grade A++ quality and huge, I can barely finish one of these in a sitting;)

We like coming here for the AYCE sushi, but their menu is extensive with plenty of options for everyone. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is big with private room if needed, lots of tables, booths, sushi bar, and a front bar as well. Nice and bright inside with two huge screens showing rotating pictures and videos of scenic areas around the world.

The food was outstanding. My wife ordered a sushi roll, and I ordered pork ramen. It was outstanding. We ordered chilled jumbo prawns as our starter. Fast service. We didn't go without the whole time we dined. Definitely will go back!

In Peppermill casino, really a classy inside and great food. Split a chippino and crab Louie salad. Both very tasty. Broth for chippino was amazing. Crab on salad plentiful. Service very good. Recommend

I don't frequent this place enough. It hits high marks on all of my "wants to go well" categories! We had a group of eight and not one thing disappointed anyone. Our waiter "Jaxon" was as perfect as could possible be. Food was pretty darn spectacular. The halibut that was served to my seat mate was an impressively large cut which surprised us. Not sure why, but it was beautifully larger than expected and beautifully prepared. My go to here is the Dungeness Crab salad and it was fab. I ordered extra crab but that was simply decadent. It would have been a hit with the regular amount of crab traditionally served. That being said, the ambiance is equally as amazing here. We're all Travellers and the whole evening was rubber necking from one big screen to the next being titillated with views of which many. One or more had been to. Others we plotted how and when we should go. They managed our table to everyone delight and fun was had! Bravo

Went here for my birthday lunch. OMG! This all you can eat sushi is pricey bit worth every penny.Very clean and classy joint. Service was top notch and our waitress was very attentive and surprised me with a slice of birthday cake while singing Happy birthday to me and my brother who share birthdays 3 days apart. If you never been, dont sleep on this one folks. You will not be disappointed

The time it was just my husband and I was so slow. We also sat down as the second table. They had a full staff and it took the longest. The food is good. I rate the roles at a 3, but note. I like simple sushi. So I tried the rolls just to try and see what they taste like. Its good if you like likes of flavor. It removes what people say is the fishy taste. I love the taste of fish. So I typically lean towards nigiri. I will amdit their sashimi salad as a 5/5. I loved it. I thought we could order 1 per round, but thats not the case. Look at the menu and its once per visit. The salmon hand roll is a 1 for me. It was not very crispy and hard to power through. So I dont recommend that, but they do a roll of it. So if you share with friends it might be worth while. The Niger I rate a 3.5/5. There was a lot of rice, but they also give a good size slice of fish. What got me was it didn't have that crisp taste when I ate it. Its hard to explain. The food quality is good. Don't get me wrong. Just the service and my simple taste buds. Its very popular and many locals love it. The lady was very sweet, when we got to speak with her. So don't let my rating and my taste buds hinder you from eating here. So give them a try.

This long-time Reno favorite is especially popular with the younger crowd due to the South Midtown location. Popularity is its main weakness though as it makes parking a headache, (not an area to leave valuables), and there is almost always a wait, often nearing or exceeding an hour during prime weekend dinners. No reservations. Don't be surprised if you have to wait outside or in your car. Once seated, place fewer large orders instead of many small ones since staff are stretched thin. Conversation can be tough with the loud packed room and music. Sports usually on big screens. Even at the sushi bar, it is not the usual experience. You still order on paper. High bar fridges block the view, and with 6 to 8 chefs working fast, conversation is unlikely. You are there to eat, not watch the craft or make a new friend behind the bar. Fish quality is about as good as AYCE gets in Reno, and the rice is less sugary than most. Nigiri often has the best fish-to-rice ratio in town. Good roll selection, including a Salmon Skin Handroll. Like many spots, some rolls are heavy on eel sauce or mayo, making the fish secondary unless you skip sauce or choose simpler options. The baked mussel appetizer was drenched in sweet sauce and tasted like candy. Surprised there was no mayo on those too. Price is a couple dollars above average local AYCE but worth it if you tolerate the wait, still cheaper than casinos. Monday through Thursday, sake is included. Arguably the best spot in Reno right now, though on a busy night I might pick one of the close seconds if I want to eat quickly. NOTE: It appeared they charged a higher tip than I left, so check your credit card charge a few days later

Upon being seated, we were told to fill out the all-you-can-eat order form as many times as we wanted, which sounded great. I personally don't eat sushi, but I appreciated that they offered protein options like chicken and beef. I ordered a Bento box--simple enough. That's where things started to go downhill. My meal didn't arrive for over 30 minutes, and when it finally did, it was cold. The chicken tasted like pressed meat and was extremely chewy--definitely not what you'd expect from a basic entrée. I wasn't planning to complain, but it became clear the issue wasn't just my order. The other four people in my group were barely being served at all. Meanwhile, tables that were seated after us were receiving multiple rounds of food while we continued waiting. We asked several servers for updates, and each time we were told they'd check on it--only for them to disappear for 10-15 minutes with no follow-up. After spending over two hours there, many of us left hungry and frustrated. I understand places like this may rely on high turnover or tourist traffic, but customer service and basic food quality should still matter. If you're taking the time to read reviews before choosing where to eat, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. And just to top it off--the ice cream was so frozen solid in its pre-staged cup that the spoon couldn't even break through it.

They did an amazing job with the interiors and it has a high-end dining vibe. However, there are several things in the customer service department that needs improvement. First, it's impossible to get a table without a reservation, unless you're willing to wait 20+ minutes. One reason is the chaotic triage process at the front. There isn't enough dedicated space for the waiting area, and as soon as there is more than 1 group, the system implodes. This means that, even if you walk in with a reservation, you get lost in the crowd until the host can effectively sort out who's who. Second, while your order might come out at a reasonable speed, it's impossible to get anything else. The servers are always busy, and every time we have asked for a refill, another roll, a box, etc, we eventually just give up and hope that we aren't charged for something we didn't get. I still find myself coming back since this is the only sushi restaurant that seems to have high quality food and well-balanced flavors. Most places seem to prioritize quantity over quality now. Just be prepared for some glitches in customer service, adjust your expectations, and you can still walk away having eaten a great meal.

My favorite hands down was the Vegas roll with the savory tuna, followed by the crown shrimp roll with a mayo topping the really brought out the umami flavor. We had a great experience at Umi sushi for lunch today. I had never been and our friends wanted to…read morego. They sat the 4 of us right away. A server came and he recognized my friend from the other week and greeted him. Some people have mentioned the fish being small on the nigiri. Smaller than some other restaurants, but the fish to rice ratio is good. There were a lot of good options for the rolls. I tend to like ones that have some lemon and they tasted nice and fresh. I felt the crystal shrimp was more crisp than some other places like it hadn't been sitting as long. We did get checked on frequently so had no issues with ordering. While it was nice having things come out at different times, we did have a pause and forgot about some rolls we ordered and were stuffed by the end. Next time, I think we would order rolls in 1 roll increments versus 2 of the same flavor for 4 people.
