Visiting Reno a few days with LA friends. From SD. Been here before amazing seafood before. Didn't disappoint. Alex our server was also amazing. Now the food. Biggest and tasty bowl of chowder ever seen. Also sour dough bread. Delicious. Had seafood mix with shrimp , seafood tostado, salad with shrimp. All very good. Highly recommend

Although we arrived a bit late, almostb9 pm, we appreciated that the staff welcomed us though they advised we might need to rush the orders a little. Our souls kids love the sushi all you can eat deal, so our gang of 6 took it. Our server promptly brought us drinks and food. To be honest, I was skeptical with sushi all you can eat, but once the food arrived, my concerns disappeared. Just looking at the ginger and wasabi tray, I could predict that it would be delicious and fresh. We couldn't believe that we ate everything including an extra bowl of clam chowder and a few scoops of Greenpeace ice cream. Hotel food is usually boring, but not at the Peppermill. Great job!

Chirashi bowl

The price reflects the quality of sushi here. It is delicious and made with care. The ambience is really nice and service is great. I don't think the chirashi bowl was worth the price, next time I will just go for the ayce instead. The salmon skin rolls were excellent.

Nice place in Peppermill. The AYCE is reasonably priced and always delicious. Service was excellent. The clam chowder was piping hot and so delicious

Hefty rolls and a 20% locals discount make Oceano a great bang for your buck ayce sushi spot. For $48 (20% off $39) you get so much amazing sushi options, miso soup, seaweed salad and yummy gelato all come included. I ate so much nigiri my favorite pieces were the yellowtail (hamachi) it was melt in your mouth buttery, the donald duck salmon and the charred tuna (tataki). Some of the nigiri pieces like the red snapper, mussels and my second salmon order were a bit on the tough and chewy side. One unagi was super fresh and hot and buttery but the other was not as fresh and lukewarm. The rice was lackluster too not high quality. The hot night rolls was yummy and hefty- too much imitation crab on top. Overall I would say Oceano is great value and a nice ambiance inside and good for Reno locals to try!

Dinner!

First time trying this dish and it was absolutely worth it The couscous was perfectly creamy, the vegetables were fresh and beautifully buttered, and the swordfish, salmon, and shrimp originally came out grilled. The first attempt was just a little on the dry side, but what impressed me most was how quickly and professionally they fixed it. The second version came out SPECTACULAR The fish was soft, juicy, and full of flavor almost poached style with a light lemon cream and white wine sauce that tied everything together perfectly They also serve incredible in-house made sourdough bread with house-made butter, and honestly... their sourdough and clam chowder rival some of the best I've had in San Francisco. Service was perfect from beginning to end, and the beautiful ambiance with Hawaiian seascapes playing across the large TV screens made the whole experience feel relaxing and upscale at the same time. One of those meals that feels elegant while still being total comfort food 10/10 for making it right and delivering such a great dining experience.

Husband and I come here often. The last visit wasn't so great. Only because i have been dieting (glp) so I can't eat much. I did choose to do all you can eat sushi and was ok with paying the price even though I knew I wouldn't eat that much. I ordered one roll, my favorite here. The royal flush. It came out without the macadamia nuts. Ok, whatever right and I ordered one order of nigiri. I had 4-5 pieces of the roll left and got charged all you can eat AND for the long roll. Wth!! So way overcharged and wasn't even told or spoke to that she was going to do it. Fast forward to today. I ordered just a roll. Learned my lesson. Ordered the Bora Bora. Wrapped in cucumber and no rice. Just like eating sashimi with side of cucumber. This may be my new favorite now. There should be a menu for those who don't eat much, like a kiddie menu

Yes I went to a seafood restaurant and ordered a steak!!

Big shout out to Jackie T. Great service- thank you. This is a beautiful restaurant and, unlike most restaurants in casinos , close to the door and parking lot so you don't have to wander around for half an hour to find it. I LOVE that. I'm allergic to shellfish but they have lots of fish choices too. For some reason I got a new York steak and am so happy- steak makes great leftovers. Good sautéed veggies that were not mushy - yay. I'll definitely be back.

Hannah is the best. We have come to enjoy her service. She is a great server. Very attentive to our needs. We love the restaurant and the beautiful pictures of places all over the world.

Great vibe, not loud but a good conversation space. The service was always great (went 3 times). You get a lot of bang for your buck when it comes to sushi. All you can eat is 37 until 3 the. 47 after 3. Each roll Is 15-17 do if you have an appetite this is your spot. The rolls were super good but the start of the show is that loaf of sourdough. Give me three of those. I recommend this place.

Due to construction in their parking lot and limited parking, we decided to dine here instead of leaving and risk not having somewhere to park upon our return. It was a Friday evening and everywhere was busy. We came by a little after 8pm and was quoted a 30-40 min wait time and I opted to be on their waitlist. Lucky for us, our wait was more like 15-20 minutes. The interior is bright & modern with 2 large screens on opposite sides that display travel destinations and locations. Seating was either in booths, at the bar, or tables with chairs. The noise level in here gets pretty loud due to the acoustics. We were seated and given menus on tablets. Water was given pretty quickly but the bread took a tad longer. Our waitress was friendly, explained the menu to us, and answered any questions we had (despite her being busy). My only critique re their AYCE is that it has one price for adults only. They don't have a separate price for children. She also kindly told me that their portions were big, so that was very helpful. I have not dined here in a number of years and their portions prior used to be smaller. Items ordered: 2x cup of clam chowder- Good flavor and plenty of clams Fish and Chips- Delicious, perfectly seasoned and battered and not dry! One of the best fish and chips I have had in a long time and it was a very pleasant surprise. Shrimp scampi- Delicious generous portion of pasta and shrimp. Chef's Mixed Grill- Loved the presentation and flavors of veggies and protein. The couscous had way too much parmesan and was literally stuck together. Def did not enjoy that texture or taste of the couscous. California Roll- I love that this roll has real crab and tastes so much better than the Ca rolls made with imitation crab. Chocolate ice cream- Always a fun treat for kiddo Thanks for the lovely dinner and atmosphere.

Sampler platter

Love fish and chips, but their platter with the fried oyster and shrimp sets it off. Pair it with a good beverage and have a seat watching the screen of the world's images or having a good dinner companion makes this an excellent experience. Expensive Busy Sometimes order mishaps occur, but all in all an enjoyable dining experience. I have seen the Peppermills decor changes over 20+ years. The Océano is one of the best of their restaurants.

Seaweed salad, ginger and edamame.

Walking into Oceano felt like stepping into an underwater escape, the decor was breathtaking. My server was attentive and knowledgeable, she explained the menu clearly. I tried the eat-all-you-can sushi and had so much fun exploring the different options, all of it was so good and delicious especially the crystal shrimp, I had 2 servings of that. To top it off the team surprised me with a delicious chocolate cake and song for me, such a special touch. The lighting was perfect, definitely worth getting dressed up for.

I have been to many AYCE sushi restaurants here in the Reno area. I never understood how the fish…read morecan be so fresh out here in the high desert. But, it is! The service was very good. We were seated quickly. Now that can be attributed to the fact that we were early for dinner. We opted for a tabled, but there were plenty of seats available at the sushi bar. We only waited for a few minutes before the first wave of fish was delivered. Throughout dinner, we never had to wait long for the sushi to be delivered. The atmosphere was decent. It felt like it was more of a storefront than a traditional restaurant. But, it was a storefront and I don't care about that. I base my rating on freshness, service and cleanliness of the store. One thing that surprised me was the Kani (crab). I ordered it wondering if it would be real crab or imitation. It was real! I was happy and surprised. I ate my fill. Actually, I ate more than my fill. Enjoyed it completely. My sushi coma was justified. Freshness: 10 Service (dining time 3:30pm) : 10 Friendly: 9 (Anymore would be just awkward) Cleanliness: 10 Parking: 10 Bottom Line ------------------ Would I recommend O' A Sushi to friends and family? Yes. Would I go back there again? Yes.

Soooo, I'm starting off with four stars. I may add another, after dining here for dinner as opposed…read moreto lunch. That being said, I am an Ohana regular, so I cheated on them today with O'A. So let's get the cons out of the way first. My son and I sat at the bar, and on the big screen against the wall, CNN FAKE NEWS was playing. Personally irritating, and I don't think they should be showing news shows from any side at a restaurant. We were in during lunch hours, and towards the end of our visit we were the last party there. That being said, clearing out our empty plates and getting refills wasn't very expeditious. I sat probably for about 15 minutes with an empty soda cup. I would understand if it was busy and at night. Disappointingly, lunch has its own separate menu, and you can't order dinner rolls for the lunch price, like you can at Ohana, Hinoki and other places I've been to and frequented. Now that, that's out of the way let's get to the rest of the review. I'm guessing the owners, we're super nice. We were greeted right as we walked in the door and chose our seats. Victor was our sushi chef. Great guy, and turns out some great sushi. The next time I go I will be sure to sit with him, but the other two Cooks were nice also. The entire restaurant, especially the bar area was spotless! I can tell they all take pride in what they do. My sin and I ordered probably 65% of the lunch menu. The quail egg shooters, whcih we ordered about a dozen total were SUPER good, and served in a modified Oriental soup "spoon" instead of a shot glass. Sort of awkward to eat, but doable and tasty. My personal favorite (lunch) roll was the "Crazy Dream" roll. SO many different flavor profiles. They had unique takes on some of the nigiri and appetizers, like the 'butterfly' and the tempura Jalapeno opposed to other sushi joints. So all in all, it was good enough for me to go back and give the dinner menu a try. When I do, Ill be sure to write an update! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149. It's just SO good, and if you prefer AYCE you may not like this place. I lived in Southern California for over a decade and this reminds me so much of the many amazing sushi spots there. My girlfriend was visiting out of town this past weekend and we popped in. I don't remember our servers name but he was friendly, and surprisingly it wasn't crowded for a Sunday afternoon. We shared: Hamachi Jalapeno Carpaccio - 5/5, so SO good. Miso - my girlfriend said she could clearly taste it was fresh and not some boxed junk. Crunchy Shrimp HR - 5/5 Fire Ocean (LONG ROLL) 5/5 I'd high recommend and am thankful we have this place.

Well slap my a** and call me Betty! Haha I have been eating all-you-can-eat (AYCE) sushi in Reno…read morefor over 10 years now and this is the first place I've been able to actually taste how good the fish actually is. To be clear, this is not an AYCE sushi restaurant, and there's other offerings besides sushi including ramen, salad, steaks, and various teriyaki plates. Apparently the food is hand selected by the owner, and helped prepared by the Japanese wife in the kitchen. From what I understand, the line cooks follow traditional Japanese ways including only being able to make a sushi roll after being a line cook for 5 years. As for the food itself, these are the things I've tried: -Maguro (tuna) sashimi: absolutely delightful -Sake (salmon) nigri: really good -Unagi (Eel) sashimi: my favorite nigri, the unagi was so tender it was falling apart. Best I've ever had. -Kazo sake: the combination of all the textures and flavors made this one of my top choices. Think of eating it like a deviled egg, if you're able to fit the whole thing in your mouth, you can taste all the flavors at once. If not, it's still tasty and you can taste the pieces individually! -Mt Rose roll: the textures and flavors were really good! -Fire Ocean roll: Absolutely delicious, and spicy! -Spicy garlic edamame: I wasn't impressed. No crisp on the garlic. The garlic, sweet chili sauce, and edamame felt like they were all cooked separately and combined on the serving plate. The garlic seemed like it was from a jar, and the sauce from the bottle. -Tempura banana with strawberry mochi: we devoured this, the chocolate sauce made the combination of flavors pleasant. I wish the tempura banana had a bit more going on - more crisp and less batter. -Wasabi: the wasabi actually tastes real and not like horseradish!!! It blends into the soy sauce beautifully and it's creamy. Drinks -Sapporo with the Junmai Ginjo sake: light and crisp, really yummy -Honey Citron tea- delightful Service While our service was generally pleasant, we did end up going at least 20 mins at one point without any word from our server while waiting on food. We didn't mind, and it was nice to not be rushed, but some others may want to feel more taken care of. My only slight complaint is that I didn't keep my chopsticks after dinner for our dessert, but we just ended up sharing the one pair we had. It would have been nice to be reminded to keep my chopsticks or to be offered another pair. Ambiance The space is relatively large and Miyabi expanded years ago to accommodate a larger dining area. The only slightly confusing part - I wish it was more clear which door you enter from. The only indicator is the Open sign on the left hand set of doors. All in all, I really enjoy and appreciate good quality food, and while you are paying the price for it here, it's justified. I'm looking forward to my next visit!

Delivery of orders to the table were ridiculously slow. Really SLOW! Although we had four diners all ordering 'all you can eat,', they never got a single order 100% correct. Saba was okay. The best thing I ate was the Unagi, but you are limited to one order per diner (doesn't sound like AYCE to me). The restaurant - actually the wife of the owner - tried to charge us dinner prices even though we arrived 40 minutes before lunch was over. It took nearly 15 minutes before the bill was corrected (one would think that the owner's wife would have had that authority).
