Amazing! Seriously some of the best pot stickers. They are thick and don't have a strong meat taste, which is a pro for me. The noodles are tasty and not too oily. Fried rice has a good balance of veggies and rice. A must try!

I stopped in for the lunch special and had a mixed experience. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken, which was actually really tasty, along with brown rice and hot & sour soup. The soup was hearty, but it was missing that strong sour flavor I'm used to. The menu says the lunch special comes with two appetizers, but I was only given the option to choose one. I went with the chicken wings, which unfortunately came out cold. The atmosphere is interesting--more like a jazz café than a Chinese restaurant. It's elegant, but almost too elegant in a way that feels like they're trying a little too hard. The place was fairly busy, and the service was decent with no real complaints there. My biggest issue is the price. For over $18 after tax and tip, it doesn't really feel like a "lunch special." For the value, I'd rather head to Donut Bistro or Hong Kong Diner instead. Overall, not bad--but not somewhere I'd rush back to for lunch.

My aesthetician moved off of Moana and usually after my appointment I pick up dinner. I thought to myself where shall I go to? I remember Palais De Jade was right around the corner! Fun fact: they've been open since 1989 the year I moved to Reno. They've never moved nor expanded not even opened a second establishment that says someone to me! I stepped through the door and straight ahead is the bar. I asked if I could get a take out order, they handed me a menu and I sat down at the bar and ordered a Sapporo beer. I decided to order the 2 people Shanghai dinner which included two entrées, rice, two spring egg rolls, two honey spareribs, and two Crab Rangoon. I chose the Hot & Sour soup for our side. It was $30 a person, plus .50 for the hot sauce which is homemade, up charge $5 for General Chicken should of gotten Kung Poo Chicken and then I got hit with a credit card service charge of 4% grand total around $81. I thought to myself what did I just order, but it worked out. We had left overs for a couple days. Chinese is always better the next day!

Great lunch menu here! I started with the hot and sour soup, and it was perfectly spiced--full of flavor, with crunchy bamboo shoots and just the right amount of kick. A very solid start. Next came the appetizers and main dish. I ordered the Mongolian beef with brown rice, which came with an eggroll and a crab rangoon. The eggroll was crunchy and tasty, and the crab rangoon hit all the right notes. But the real standout? The Mongolian beef--absolutely 5 stars! Tender beef, crunchy veggies, and a flavorful sauce that brought everything together. Delicious! One word of caution: there's a small extra charge if you pay with a credit card. Not a big deal, but good to know ahead of time. Friendly service, generous portions, and a great value for lunch--I'll definitely be back!

Large portions made for sharing. Menu offers a nice variety of items that should please everyone. They offer full bar and deceptions list. However some of us were disappointed in our cocktails and didn't order more. On the other hand the food was excellent and freshly prepared. You might to call ahead in the evening.

Went for lunch. Was probably the best lunch special Chinese meal I have ever had in Reno. Very classy restaurant, nice vibe. Great service. You owe it to yourself to check them out. Going back for dinner. That says it all!!'n

One of our new favorite "full dine-in experience" chinese restaurants in Reno. A little bit on the pricier side, but the quality and the ambiance is top tier. Palais de Jade is a long-standing establishment with over 30 years serving the Reno area. The restaurant staff were prompt and courteous with bright smiles on their face upon our entry. Upon being seated we noticed right away that many of their clientele were addressed and known by name - which went to show us the regulars that enjoy the restaurant. All seating that was visible in the restaurant consisted of comfortable padded booths. I sat comfortably but the tables are permanently attached to the flooring so anyone that is above average height or weight may not be as comfortable. My husband is over 6ft and would have liked the ability to move the table a little further for comfort, but that was not an option. The table setting was lovely, with plenty of plating and utinsels for the servings to come. As a party of two, we went with the Cantonese Dinner that is served with your choice of soups or salad, appetizers, your choice of rice and two entrees. We enjoyed the hot & sour and egg flower soup and the appetizers. You are served two of each which is perfect to share for two. The appetizers were delicious. My favorite were the crab rangoons, wrapped chicken and fried prawns. Our choice for entrees included the steamed white rice, Kung Pao Beef and Lemon Chicken. We appreciated the timing of the servings from beginning to end as it was prompt and attentive. The steamed white rice was served first in a medium sized covered container. Perfect for keeping your rice warm and steamed. The Kung Pao Beef was next. The beef was tender and cut in smaller portions. We love a good spicy Kung Pao, but despite the "spicy" sign on the menu we would say that it was more on the mild side for those spicy lovers out there. It was served with celery, dried red peppers and peanuts. Overall good. Additionally we opted for the fried Lemon Chicken. The chicken came out fried on a bed of crispy white noodles. The lemon sauce was served on the side which had a good flavor. I felt that the fried chicken could have used a little bit of salt prior to adding the lemon sauce, so I went on to add myself. Lemon sauce was good without being overly sweet or syrupy. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Palais de Jade and the pride and hospitality that dining staff provided. We would definitely return to try some new dishes.

Hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant! Good service, beautiful interior, and amazing food! My usual is the crispy sesame chicken and either chicken chow mein or pork fried rice and it NEVER disappoints. Not greasy like most places in Reno. Waiters and waitresses come around very often and the prices are the same as most Chinese restaurants. Go here instead! So yummy and so worth it! Quality of the food is to die for, if I haven't mentioned that already.

The portions were generous with plenty of leftovers to pack up in takeout boxes for enjoying for another day. My favorite three were the ahi tuna, the black cod and the brilliant asian/french mash up of red Bean Creme Brulee. I also need to mention, I loved the lamb tenderloin. I am not a big lamb fan, but this New Zealand lamb was tender and non-gamey. The owners did an outstanding job of timing the dishes and engaging with our group while also taking care of other diners including non event patrons getting getting take-out and inhouse menu dining. The space is very small, but even with and almost full house, it didn't feel cramped. Even though Kwok's is right across the street from where I live, this restaurant would be at the top of my list of "I would drive out of my way to eat here"

To start, you can't go wrong with the enthusiastic welcome we always receive. Then quickly seated and wine poured. The 2026 CNY menu was fabulous, with some great surprises. The ahi tartare portion anywhere else would have been a shareable appetizer. But each person was served a large portion of delicious fresh ahi. Mmmm this course and a glass of wine could be dinner alone any other evening. The soft creamy rich egg custard was hidden under a thick seafood gravy. I really enjoyed this unique dish. The miso black cod is always flaky and delicious. And the crab fried rice it's nestled on also never disappoints. The rich New Zealand stir fried lamb and shiitake mushrooms over pea shoots was a fabulous hearty dish on this chilly March evening. The braised short ribs were so tender no knife was needed, they flaked apart with the fork. And the e mein noodles were perfectly al dente. The dinner wrapped up with a crème brûlée that only Kwok's could pull off - red bean. Creamy smooth. Not overwhelming. The perfect burnt sugar layer on top. The regular menu is just as delicious. Small inside seating area, so recommend always make a reservation. In the summer there's a fabulous patio area out front. Limited street parking.

In case you're not aware, though the name of this restaurant references a specific city in northern China and the menu has dishes from across the country, their specialty is the spicy and numbing cuisine of the Sichuan region. If you've never had this before, when you see dishes listed as spicy, they may be very different from what you're thinking. It's certainly can be a polarizing experience, with many loving this flavor and many not into it at all, but the broad menu makes this a great call for everyone. Now I love dining with others who are familiar because it lets you explore the menu through their eyes and enjoy selections made by others with taste diverse from yours. My friend picked several dishes I would've never noticed or ordered blindly this time, and I'm so happy about that. We enjoyed the cold Woodear or black fungus in chili oil, classic snow pea tips with garlic, as well as the quintessential Sichuan cumin lamb, but the other three dishes we had were 100% new to me. Those included Sichuan snails (unshelled in an oily spicy stir fry), scallops with garlic and vermicelli, and crispy spicy intestines. The snails were a win. These are small and somewhat chewy morsels that get wok fried with fried chili, chili oil, peppers and onions. The texture is similar to sautéed calamari, but a bit firmer, and the sauce coats everything with that signature numbing heat. The scallops were the big miss. This dish typically comes in the half shell with fresh scallops, but here they're using a lower quality scallop (likely frozen) and a lot of pre-minced garlic (like you'd find in a jar). It looks impressive but the scallops had absolutely not flavor and the texture was rubbery too. Skip this one for sure. The intestines were the surprise. I've had fried intestines and they crunch like a chip and have no distinct flavor that lets you know what you're eating. These were sliced on the bias and wok tossed until super crispy on the outside with a delicately chewy interior. The sauce really amplified the flavor and this all made for a great bite within the whole meal. All in all, this is a home run. If you haven't been, I urge you to check it out, as it's one of the best authentic Chinese restaurants around.

Tucked away in the back of an unassuming shopping mall is Chinese cuisine well worth making a trip for. I was immediately greeted when I entered, and started with some hot tea. I ended up ordering Garlic Cucumbers and Dry Stir Fried Pork Intestines. The cucumbers were light and refreshing with a punch of garlic. The intestines came out crispy and piled high with red fried chilis and szechuan peppercorns. I am a huge spice nut and this absolutely hit the spot! (If you have a low spice tolerance you may want to ask for less spicy as the server did not ask how spicy I wanted it). The cucumbers were the perfect accompaniment to balance the heat and numbing from the chilis. When I first looked at the menu, I thought the prices were a bit high. After seeing the enormous portion sizes, it all made perfect sense. There was easily enough for 2 full meals for me (245lb, 6ft3in man with an appetite). The portions are clearly designed to be shared. On that point they also feature traditional Chinese style banquet seating with the lazy suzan in the middle for family style eating. All told I was extremely impressed with the food quality, service, portion sizes and ambiance. I will absolutely be adding Shanghai Bistro to my regular rotation!
