One of my favorites in Reno. The staff and service are always wonderful, I've been going here for years and still recognize most of the same staff which I take as a good sign. They have a great lunch special with plenty of options which is what I'm usually there for, but outside the lunch special I love the beef chow fun with black bean sauce. Tried the chow fun at other places in town but this is still my favorite by far. The potstickers are very good and packed with meat but a bit pricey. Overall a very strong recommendation, anyone easily recommend the lunch special for anyone's first visit. Also, honorable mention to the hot and sour soup. It's always great and I bought a ton of it to get me through a few days when I got a wisdom tooth taken out :v) read more

My wife knows how much I love Chinese food, so when she came across a TikTok review of Palais De Jade, she asked if I had ever been. I hadn't, but I had definitely heard of it. We decided to make it our next date night spot. We went on a Friday around 5:30 and it wasn't very crowded yet. They asked if we preferred a table or a booth, and we went with a booth near the front. The restaurant itself is really nice, but I'll say the booth felt a little tight. Next time, we'll probably go with a table for a bit more space. The service was top notch. The staff was incredibly attentive, and our drinks were constantly refilled. Our glasses were never empty, which always stands out. About 15 minutes after we sat down, the place filled up fast. It seemed like most people coming in had reservations, so I'd definitely recommend making one if you're planning to go after 6 pm. We decided on the Shanghai Dinner. I ordered the sweet and sour pork, and my wife got the sweet and sour chicken. I was tempted by the cashew chicken and kung pao chicken, but we'll save those for next time. The appetizers were amazing. The meal comes with spring rolls, crab rangoon, paper wrapped chicken, and honey glazed BBQ spareribs. Everything was delicious. My wife loved the paper wrapped chicken, and for me, the ribs were the standout. They were tender with just the right hint of sweetness. Honestly, I could've eaten a full plate of just those and been happy. For sides, I had the egg flower soup, which was really flavorful, and my wife had the salad. She could not stop talking about how good the dressing was. Both the sweet and sour pork and chicken were great. The sauce had that perfect tangy, slightly sweet flavor. That said, next time we probably won't order the same sauce for both dishes. I think pairing something like sweet and sour with kung pao would give a better balance with a little heat to cut through the sweetness. Overall, this place is a winner. Great food, solid portions, and the price is very reasonable at about $33 per person for the Shanghai Dinner. My wife enjoyed everything so much that after seeing another table order the duck, she's already talking about coming back to try it. I've been trying to get her to try duck for a while, so I'm looking forward to that next visit. We'll definitely be back. read more

Ordered takeout tonight and it was delicious. The online ordering was very easy. I ordered the Wor Wonton soup and it was loaded with flavor ~ the beef & chicken were so tender, veggies and wontons cooked perfectly. The cashew chicken was fantastic ~ perfect size of the chicken and the sauce was amazing. The Singapore rice noodles with beef, shrimp and veggies in curry sauce was outstanding. My order was ready at exactly 5:30 which is time I requested. Friendly staff & overall a wonderful meal. read more

Amazing! Seriously some of the best pot stickers. They are thick and don't have a strong meat taste, which is a pro for me. The noodles are tasty and not too oily. Fried rice has a good balance of veggies and rice. A must try! read more

Dining at this restaurant is always a great experience as it's so nice inside but sometimes you just want takeout and they have great options. We ordered the Shanghai dinner for 2 and everything was great! We got egg flower soup. Appetizers and for our 2 entrees we had sweet and sour chicken and chicken chow mein. It also comes with choice of rice and we selected fried. The portions were large, everything was freshly made and packaged beautifully. read more

It has come to my attention that for the last 31 years that when I am craving really good authentic Chinese food, I automatically go to PDJ. When some asks about bona fide Chinese dining that I always suggest PDJ first. The experience is sit down, formal, and shockingly consistent. The service level makes you think you are dining in this families home. The food is still the star of the show. The Peking Duck and Seafood Birds Nest are highlights. In reality, no matter what you like and spice level you are comfortable with you can't go wrong here. If you want to impress your lunch date, colleagues, or treat your loved ones, bring them here. The parking lot is cramped and gets busy during peak times. Thank you and congratulations on more than 35 years in Reno. read more

I stopped in for the lunch special and had a mixed experience. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken, which was actually really tasty, along with brown rice and hot & sour soup. The soup was hearty, but it was missing that strong sour flavor I'm used to. The menu says the lunch special comes with two appetizers, but I was only given the option to choose one. I went with the chicken wings, which unfortunately came out cold. The atmosphere is interesting--more like a jazz café than a Chinese restaurant. It's elegant, but almost too elegant in a way that feels like they're trying a little too hard. The place was fairly busy, and the service was decent with no real complaints there. My biggest issue is the price. For over $18 after tax and tip, it doesn't really feel like a "lunch special." For the value, I'd rather head to Donut Bistro or Hong Kong Diner instead. Overall, not bad--but not somewhere I'd rush back to for lunch. read more

My aesthetician moved off of Moana and usually after my appointment I pick up dinner. I thought to myself where shall I go to? I remember Palais De Jade was right around the corner! Fun fact: they've been open since 1989 the year I moved to Reno. They've never moved nor expanded not even opened a second establishment that says someone to me! I stepped through the door and straight ahead is the bar. I asked if I could get a take out order, they handed me a menu and I sat down at the bar and ordered a Sapporo beer. I decided to order the 2 people Shanghai dinner which included two entrées, rice, two spring egg rolls, two honey spareribs, and two Crab Rangoon. I chose the Hot & Sour soup for our side. It was $30 a person, plus .50 for the hot sauce which is homemade, up charge $5 for General Chicken should of gotten Kung Poo Chicken and then I got hit with a credit card service charge of 4% grand total around $81. I thought to myself what did I just order, but it worked out. We had left overs for a couple days. Chinese is always better the next day! read more

THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN RENO. Menu favorites: pan fried potstickers, wor wonton soup, orange chicken, and Mongolian beef. I dream about the potstickers and bathing in the sauce. I don't have kids but I might barter an unborn child for the recipe. Service is great. Booths are comfy. Location is easy to find and 98% of the time parking is also easy. Great lunch menu here! I started with the hot and sour soup, and it was perfectly spiced--full of flavor, with crunchy bamboo shoots and just the right amount of kick. A very solid start. Next came the appetizers and main dish. I ordered the Mongolian beef with brown rice, which came with an eggroll and a crab rangoon. The eggroll was crunchy and tasty, and the crab rangoon hit all the right notes. But the real standout? The Mongolian beef--absolutely 5 stars! Tender beef, crunchy veggies, and a flavorful sauce that brought everything together. Delicious! One word of caution: there's a small extra charge if you pay with a credit card. Not a big deal, but good to know ahead of time. Friendly service, generous portions, and a great value for lunch--I'll definitely be back! read more

One of our new favorite "full dine-in experience" chinese restaurants in Reno. A little bit on the pricier side, but the quality and the ambiance is top tier. Palais de Jade is a long-standing establishment with over 30 years serving the Reno area. The restaurant staff were prompt and courteous with bright smiles on their face upon our entry. Upon being seated we noticed right away that many of their clientele were addressed and known by name - which went to show us the regulars that enjoy the restaurant. All seating that was visible in the restaurant consisted of comfortable padded booths. I sat comfortably but the tables are permanently attached to the flooring so anyone that is above average height or weight may not be as comfortable. My husband is over 6ft and would have liked the ability to move the table a little further for comfort, but that was not an option. The table setting was lovely, with plenty of plating and utinsels for the servings to come. As a party of two, we went with the Cantonese Dinner that is served with your choice of soups or salad, appetizers, your choice of rice and two entrees. We enjoyed the hot & sour and egg flower soup and the appetizers. You are served two of each which is perfect to share for two. The appetizers were delicious. My favorite were the crab rangoons, wrapped chicken and fried prawns. Our choice for entrees included the steamed white rice, Kung Pao Beef and Lemon Chicken. We appreciated the timing of the servings from beginning to end as it was prompt and attentive. The steamed white rice was served first in a medium sized covered container. Perfect for keeping your rice warm and steamed. The Kung Pao Beef was next. The beef was tender and cut in smaller portions. We love a good spicy Kung Pao, but despite the "spicy" sign on the menu we would say that it was more on the mild side for those spicy lovers out there. It was served with celery, dried red peppers and peanuts. Overall good. Additionally we opted for the fried Lemon Chicken. The chicken came out fried on a bed of crispy white noodles. The lemon sauce was served on the side which had a good flavor. I felt that the fried chicken could have used a little bit of salt prior to adding the lemon sauce, so I went on to add myself. Lemon sauce was good without being overly sweet or syrupy. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Palais de Jade and the pride and hospitality that dining staff provided. We would definitely return to try some new dishes. read more

Palais de Jade has been part of my Reno rotation for a long time, since I was growing up here, and coming back again reminds me why it has stayed on the list for decades. The room has that classic, comfortable feel that makes you want to settle in, take your time, and actually have a meal instead of just grabbing food. Service stays attentive without hovering, water stays filled, and the whole place feels calm in a way that is getting harder to find. This visit we went wide on the menu, and it was the right move. The pot stickers are the kind you remember, hot, crisp on the bottom, juicy inside, and they disappear fast, so order them early. We also did teriyaki skewers and BBQ ribs, which are perfect for the table because everyone gets a bite and suddenly you are all comparing favorites. For mains, the sesame chicken delivered exactly what you want from a classic, crisp, glossy, balanced sweetness. We also tried sweet and sour chicken, broccoli beef, chicken chow mein, and fried rice. The chow mein has that old-school Reno comfort factor, generous, satisfying, and built to share. We added hot and sour soup and wor wonton soup, and both hit that warm, steady, sit-down-and-breathe feeling that makes a place like this more than just a takeout spot. Drinks and little extras matter here too. The lunch-style salad with the peanut dressing gets talked about for a reason. It sounds simple, then you take a bite and you get it. If you are doing cocktails, the lychee martini has a lot of fans for a reason, and the chilled lychee is a fun finish if you want something light after a big shared meal. If you grew up in Reno, Palais de Jade feels like one of those places that quietly kept doing it right while everything else changed around it. I have recommended it for years, and I will keep recommending it. Great ambience, consistently solid food, and the kind of service that makes you want to come back soon. read more

I never judge a restaurant on a takeout order alone, so I'm mostly reserving judgement. The ambiance of the place looked very nice - decor was beautiful. The only service I can cite was that my order was ready when I arrived. As for food, I had salt & pepper calanmari and beef satay. Both were OK at best. I've had really good s&p squid, and if that was a 10, this was 7.5 at best. Beef was a bit dry. This place is rated very high for Chinese in Reno, so I'll try it again, but so far I'm not impressed. read more

Took our food to go, but first off, the calamari app was, um, inedible. And I tried - really hard to steal a few from the box and chew. Took about 2 miles on 395 heading north in afternoon traffic to give up and flick the intact ring out the window (for the birds). The rings were large, tough and impossible to eat. I did lick/suck the coating off which was good - but not the point. The entrees were good, not earth shaking, but well seasoned and enjoyable. I'll be back for their mains, no calamari pls. read more

I've found my main Chinese restaurant! I was here with my family to celebrate my sister's birthday. The friendly staff sat the four of us right away without a reservation. Our waitress was over immediately to take our drink and dinner order. The Hot and Sour soup was on point; I would have that again. The Spring Rolls and Pot Stickers were fantastic! General's Chicken was a little spicy, but I didn't mind it and would have it again. The chicken and Black Bean Sauce were delicious. BBQ Pork Fried Rice was what the birthday girl wanted, and she wasn't disappointed. The staff came out and sang Happy Birthday to my sister, and they did so with fantastic energy. I'll be back here repeatedly because of the staff and food. read more

Hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant! Good service, beautiful interior, and amazing food! The decor and the service was good the food not so much. Started with the tofu fried appetizer no seasoning whatsoever on the fried tofu just little cubes thrown in dusting and fried. The eggplant side dish was the best part about it and I'd only give that a 4. We had the chow fun mix noodles and they didn't have the thick noodles. It was just more like spaghetti noodle almost and not good meat at all. Then finally the general chicken was almost all breading the seasoning on it was good but all bread and tough stringy chicken. Wont be back. read more

Service was good, ambiance was good, but they velvetize meat. I couldn't tell fat from meat. They said it was trimmed first. It's probably authentic Chinese cooking, but I didn't eat it because I don't want to eat fat. From AI: Velveting is a method to make meat extra tender and silky. It often involves marinating the meat in a mixture of egg white, cornstarch, and sometimes rice wine or soy sauce. Some recipes also include a bit of oil or baking soda. After marinating, the meat is usually briefly blanched in oil or water before being stir-fried. This creates that "velvety" texture--super tender, almost melting in your mouth. When done properly, the meat can indeed seem almost indistinguishable from the fat because of the smooth coating created by the cornstarch and marinade. read more

As a lover of Chinese food this restaurant went right to the top of my list. We tried the Peking dinner. Appetizers were: Flavorful lettuce wraps. Delicious Wor won ton soup. Crunchy fried shrimp and crab Rangoon with unusual sauces. We chose garlic flavored shrimp with huge shrimp. The star of the dinner was deep fried Sesame Beef. It was crunchy yet sticky and I am craving it today!! Very high props to all the employees. Excellent service. And lovely white table setting. This is a destination restaurant. I have been looking for good chow-fun since leaving Cali and it's been difficult. I will usually ask for a brown gravy or sauce on the side for my chow-fun. 50% of places will do it, this place does, and the side of gravy was good. I have no problem paying for it, but some places just flat out say no anyway. So thank you for accommodating my weird request. It makes my food that much better. read more

Palace de Jade had been in Reno for years and years. A lot of people I know love it. Personally I think it's just okay. I know I love their Crispy Fried Shrimp But take today, I ordered the Orange Crispy Fried Chicken Luncheon Special. A large plate of Crispy Fried Chicken was like eating Chicken Jerky. I'd have been happy with fewer pieces of chewable chicken. Everything else tasty okay. It was supposed to be spicy, but it was not. Like the hot and sour soup .. also not at all hot or sour. But the soup was tasty. Not my first choice for Chinese food, but I'd come again if this is where others opted to go read more

I went into Palais de Jade about a week ago and asked if they would be able to take a large to-go order (for 7 people) for Christmas Eve 12/24/25. They said yes & to come in the Monday before Christmas Eve to place my order. When I arrived on the Monday before Christmas Eve to place my order, they stated that they do not accept to-go orders ahead of time. I was flabbergasted with their response. They said I could order about an hour before I wanted to pick up the food, but there was no guarantee they could fill the order when I wanted it.
