Oh, well, maybe next time, but they're open again with same quality and generous portions, same friendly service. We love, love this place. It's pretty deceiving because the inside is super basic and definitely not geared to dining in, this is not a issue for us since we prefer to get Chinese to go. My favorite dish is the Lemon Chicken; it's the perfect amount of sweet & sour. Lemon or Orange Chicken is the starting dish I always order every single time we go to a new Chinese place. Joey got the Mongolian Beef and it was also very delicious. I love when the dish is not overly salty or too much soy sauce added. I prefer to use my own Tamari sauce that I keep at home. The egg rolls are also excellent too! The chow mein noodles are very good and not too over salted. The only bummer is they don't serve fortune cookies but they had a legitimate excuse... We go to this spot at least once a month because again it's predictably yummy! read more

Absolute garbage Absolute health hazard -- avoid at all costs I ordered the chicken teriyaki with veggies and rice, and what I got was 3 slivers of dried-out chicken jerky with no sauce. Already unacceptable for $15, but then I tried the rice and vegetables and found a piece of metal wire in my food -- likely from a scrub brush. I bit it hard and it chipped my teeth. Imagine if I had swallowed that. This place isn't just serving terrible food, it's dangerous. I tipped them $5 thinking I was getting a decent meal, and they served me something inedible and hazardous. Poor handlement . I had advised the lady in front that they're pricing is off once she gave me my price in store from their online pricing. Once I told her that she went off on her language speaking to the chefs trying to put the meal on hold after I had already said go ahead and run it, but you guys should change your pricing online so people don't get confused and she was very rude with handling the whole situation was talking crap to her chefs right in front of me once I grabbed my phone to record. she immediately stopped talking used to love going there unfortunately will never be back again. Grabbed some potstickers for lunch before an event and they were delicious! Just a little crispy, filled with meat, and had a delicious vinegar sauce on the side. The woman at the check out stand was very smiley and helpful and was just having a great day! Made me smile! The place is small and typical of a chinese restaurant with minimal table seating and plenty of space. Definitely more so a grab and go place then a hang out spot. read more

I don't understand why the reviews for this place trend lower. Is it Michelin star dining? No. Have I had better Chinese food? Yes. But the prices are the cheapest in town by far for Chinese food and they are consistent. My partner and I eat here quite regularly when we want a cheap, fast dinner and there is never a dip in quality. It is good food. You know what you're getting every time you come here. The portions are huge and their chefs special and combination plate could easily afford you two meals. They are extremely sweet whenever I come here as well. read more

OMG when we got home our order was missing the mu shu pancakes and sauce. We called to ask this be removed from our bill and they hung up on us 3 times. Then They wanted us to drive all the way back we were across town. I would never go there again and I would not recommend this place to anyone. We popped in on our way to the airport. I called in and ordered 20 minutes before they closed. We got an orange chicken along with the sesame chicken and their vegetable egg foo young. Everything was an absolute hit. The egg foo young was the closest to my favorite type where they made little patties and fried perfectly with a lovely gravy. It had three huge patties in there. I even shared one with my brother. If you're wondering if they have Chinese, I grew up in San Francisco where some of the best Chinese is. I would come back and try other things. Being that it was so late we weren't able to eat in the restaurant so we ate in the car but we were really happy We grabbed it because by the time I got to the airport at 10 PM everything was closed. read more

So this is going to be a decent length review. I came to Reno from a far away town for some medical appointments. My friend told me that panda was terrible the last 2 times she had it. I decided "I remember the mom and pop Chinese food when I was living in California was way better than panda". So I searched and found here. I really enjoyed the beef broccoli, the meat was nice and soft. To me very flavorful. Now I got orange chicken, it was really sticky and wasn't very sweet like I'm used to. But it's decent orange chicken. Now the chow mein. I was kinda disappointed. It's my favorite part of the meal. This time it was a let town. It was sweet? Not really the savory I was expecting. The only off thing was the chow mein. I also had their chicken egg rolls with the sauce they gave. Those were good as well. Overall a very good hole in the wall Chinese food place. Great little hole in the wall place. Service was fantastic, the cashier was warm and welcoming and the food came out in under 10 minutes. Food was delicious. We got the orange chicken, house special chow mein, and sweet and sour chicken. All great dishes. Big servings as well, ended up being 2 different meals for 3 people. Quite cheap too. We got all those dishes plus two orders of fried rice (which comes with the entrees) for under $40. We will definitely be regulars here. read more

This is considered "fast food" Chinese food, so understanding that, this is obviously NOT the food you would bring to your Chinese Mother in law or Grandparents unless you like being the disappointing family member. This is the vastly upgraded version of Panda Express for the larger menu size and portions. Variety of menu items and combinations. Prompt service and clean interior but it's in the smaller size and parking lot is limited. 10 people inside, not too big of a problem. 10 cars is iffy. Street parking is available. Picked up dinner from Egg Roll King a few days ago. It was delicious and to be frank what I expected. It's fast Chinese food, definitely a lot better than Panda. The portions themselves are wroth it, I had left overs for lunch the next day. Fried rice was a 10/10, chow mien could use a little bit more protein. The food was prepared in under six minutes, and the staff was friendly. They gave us extra chili oil without charge which is always nice, other places tend to charge for extra sauce. I remember going to this Egg Roll King years ago when I was at UNR and while living in the NW part of town. Now that I'm back in this part of town I decided to check it out again. I ordered online for pickup. The order consisted of; * - Wor Wonton Soup which was full of the usual good stuff. The broth had a bite too it. Not too bad, but not what I expected. * - Potstickers. I think they were deep fried instead of pan fried which I would have preferred. * - Mongolian Beef. It was good, but I ordered the entree, but received the combo plate which I didn't discover until getting home. Since it was supposed to be dinner for the entire family there was a lack of Mongo to go around. * - Pork Egg Foo Young. There were 3 good sized EFY's in the container along with their sauce. They were tasty, but a bit dry. * - Combination House Chow Mein. This was good! Full of all the usual suspects, chicken, pork, and shrimp! I will order in person and wait as there was some confusion as to which online order I had and who I was. We sort of worked it out, but since I received the incorrect Mongolian Beef I want to make sure I get the right thing. This is a great cheap place to get take out. The combo plate is one of the cheapest in town and they pile it with food. Service is always very friendly and fast. If you don't know me by now, I Love Chinese food, whether it's by take out or dining in. I just finished work and was about to head to a good friend's place. I decided to grab myself dinner and Egg Roll King was on the way! This being my first time eating here I didn't really know what to expect. Egg Roll King is right off Wells and has a few parking stalls right outside. Walking inside, I noticed a couple of tables and their display menus were those classic "letter pin menu boards" attached on the wall. My first thought was, "The food here is going to be great." When I'm hungry, I become very indecisive. Of course it's much easier to order from the "Combination" part of the menu. I always initially go for Sweet and Sour Pork and for my second entree I ordered the Honey Garlic Chicken. Their Sweet and Sour Pork was okay; it was the taste of their sauce. It was different, a bit more sour than sweet. However, I loved their Honey Garlic Chicken. That sweet and garlic glaze really hit the spot. With such generous portions for such a great price is something that I will not complain about. If I'm every craving Chinese take out, I'll head straight for Egg Roll King! read more

Ordered from DoorDash: 32 oz egg drop soup 1 sesame chicken (awful) 1 ginger beef 1 Fried rice (came with pork, didn't say it did though) Well they are fast, but I fear that's because the food isn't made to order. And it's not ordered fast enough to stay fresh. The egg drop soup was probably the best thing. But really nothing more than you would expect from king buffet and seemed condensed as if it had been siting warmed for a while and water had evaporated. But it hits the spot, and good price. The fried rice was actually better than my boyfriend thought it would be, because it's included and still had the eggs, carrots, peas, and red pork (I picked the pork out of mine and added tofu), but it wasn't dry and had good flavor. The sesame chicken was awful. Just looking at it, you can tell it looks like fire wood it's so dry. My boyfriend said the breading was soggy which is surprising because it was lacking any sauce and was flavorless and portion was small. The ginger beef was much better, it was well sauced, had some flavor, good amount of veggies, not over cooked, but it was pretty chewy due to low quality beef / fatty. But the hubby would order again and good price at 10 bucks. So skip the fried chicken dishes and only order if you want cheap fast Chinese food delivered. read more

I have never tried an egg roll from the Egg Roll King, but I do order the crab rangoon when I make Chinese food at home and they are good! This time I was in for a full meal... including the crab rangoon! After ordering a combination plate with Honey Garlic Chicken and Sesame Chicken and pork fried rice, I may stick to just the crab rangoon. The sauce for both chickens was thick and gooey. Also, the sesame chicken sauce was nearly clear. Hmmmm... I think the honey garlic sauce was used on both types of chicken, and then the sesame chicken had some seeds on top. I'll admit that I ordered the Honey Garlic Chicken as a risk, but I figured the Sesame Chicken would be safe choice. Not this time! However, I did have a couple bites of my boyfriend's Cashew Chicken with steamed rice, and it was very delicious and flavorful. It is what it is, it does not pretend to be anything else. It is fast, not very costly and lots of food. I ordered the Chef's Special General's Chicken which comes with chicken? chow mein and pork? fried rice. My first several pieces of chicken tasted more like Orange Chicken. As I got further into it I got to where the sauce had settled. The sauce was not bad it had enough heat to know that it was General's Chicken. I put a question mark after chicken and pork because I found no meat in either of those dishes. I put some soy sauce and some chili paste on them and they were okay. They only charged $6.50 for it and I took a lot of it home. It would be nice if the man taking the orders would smile just a little bit, he almost seemed cold. It is what it is. read more
