The fried oysters were crispy on the outside and flavorful, while the Tom Yum soup had a delicious balance of sweet, sour, and spicy flavors. The Twilight Taro Boba was also a great treat--creamy, sweet, and refreshing. Everything came together for a really enjoyable meal. Great service!
Driving through Reno and came on recommendation from Yelp reviews. Everything was amazing from decor, cleanliness, staff, and food. I would seriously come here weekly if I lived nearby.
Dining at Thai Lotus is a wonderful experience thanks to the cozy, decorative atmosphere and the exceptionally tasty food. The meal starts strong with delicious appetizers like crispy rolls and flavorful dumplings, which lead right into hot, fresh, and authentic main dishes. The pad Thai combination at level 8 was very doable and not that spicy. To top it all off, Pom provides truly great service with a friendly and welcoming attitude that makes the entire visit feel special.
Went for dinner and tried the kakigori. Very tasty. You eat a lot of shave I've growing up in Hawaii, and Thai Lotus makes a good one.
Another great experience here. Adding to my prior review... Service is quick but they have no problem letting you sit and talk when done with meal. Eager to give take out containers for leftovers. Try their sweet beverages to go. Lots of selections and very good explanations of what they are. Lunch specials are the way to go during the week. Comes with salad. Appetizers,soup and entree.
I met some fellow yelpers at this restaurant. I never was a huge fan of Thai food but I'm always willing to give it a chance. What I like most is their cooking method for rice, a good Thai restaurant cooks their by steaming, this yields a wonderful product. I ordered the red curry with beef and vegetables. The meal came with a small salad. The rice they made was okay but I didn't think they cooked the rice using the steam method at this restaurant. Like I said Thai food doesn't really do anything for me but the staff were fanat this restaurant. They got our orders out very efficiently.
Came for lunch with a party of 8. There's construction going on, so beware of how loud it will be in here, it's also a smaller space so the sound is echoing throughout. Staff is friendly and accommodating. I got the pad see ew with beef and spice level 2. It was a little too sweet and it didn't have any spice in it at all. Everyone else got the pad Thai lunch special and said that it was not bad, but not the best pad Thai they've ever had.
Went Valentine's and it was packed!! Staff worked really coordinating reservations, with walk ins, and pick ups. The mayhem didn't affect the service at all. I ordered Pad Thai with thick noodles made in house. Spice level not mixed in, provided on the side - I'd rather have it mixed in the kitchen. That being said the meal was delicious, very authentic Thai flavors. Wife got short ribs in broth. Absolutely amazing, hit of the night. Rich flavorful broth with perfectly cooked ribs. Love Thai Lotus and will definitely be back. Happy it's on our side of town.
I had a great dining experience for dinner. We were seated quickly and our friendly waitress took our order right way. The food was absolutely delicious, savory, hot, and comforting on a cold rainy day. We had tom yum soup to start which warmed us up nicely. The other combination of food (curry, noodles, chicken and eggplant) was so good and filling. We were glad the servings were large so we had leftovers for later. :) They even have a boba tea counter as you enter. *food photos taken after we already dug into the food
Can't speak for the service, but personally the food did not land for us. We got the Pad Thai, and the Shrimp Rangoons with peanut sauce. We were surprised by the tiny shrimp in the rangoons, would have preferred to have just cream cheese. And we usually prefer a more creamy texture of the peanut sauce. There was a decent size egg shell in the pad thai, and the flavor just wasn't our favorite. The place seemed nice just not really our style.
9/3 Came here with wifey for some good Thai food . We love this place. We were greeted immediately as we walked in. Sat right away. Nina was our server and was excellent. We ordered pretty quick we know what we like. Got Pad Thai chicken ,Yellow curry chicken ,Thai Basil rice pork ,Won tons pork , Cashew delight beef . The food came out quickly and Hot. Everything was delicious and flavorful. Had a nice cold Sapporo beer as well. Nice clean restaurant as always. Great spot for Thai. Check them out. Enjoy !!!!
Quality/Quantity - Overdue for another update. Introduced our friends here. Well actually, they suggested to come here, yet they have never been here?!?! So we got a little of everything: P1 Large Wonton Soup - More Chinese than Thai. It was okay, but a perfect quantity for the 6 of us. Everyone got a little of everything. Mild flavors, including the mild broth. Well someone at the table requested mild (for almost everything). Sorry, my camera was too late, I was only able to take one picture of a single serving bowl. Good friends can be a distraction to my Yelping... CS14 - Pork Ribs - Melted off the bone! Overall a good dish. Good flavors. C2 Yellow Curry, Chicken - I prefer my curry thicker, this was too watery for me. But our guest that sat to my left loved this. He added it to his white rice and devoured it all! R5 Crab Fried Rice - Just okay. Decent amounts of crab. But again, it had minimal flavor?!?! N1 Pad Thai, Chicken - My usual dish, always a winner. CS10 Basil Salmon - Actually my favorite dish! Fresh, good flavors, decent portions, etc. A home run for me. CS8 Thai Lotus Chicken - A very good flavorful dish. But it was deep fried. A few guests said that it did not have enough meat and it was basically deep fried dough. But it still tasted good, lol. Dessert - To have back at the house with a few of our wines from our winery! Ambiance - Decent size location. Cool decor. Plenty of mall parking. Indoor/outdoor seating, but this is winter. Free wifi but I did not use it. Gluten Free menu available upon request. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 8:30pm. Closed Sundays. Service - 5 stars. We came during the prime dinner rush and they have more than enough team members to help all of us. They checked on us often and accommodated all of our requests. Price - $162 + generous tip. I felt it was reasonably priced. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success for the last 19+ years.

Yellow Curry was the best of the 4 dishes, probably a 6/10. The pad see ew was second at a 5/10. Papaya salad was terribly bland - 3.5/10 and the Lotus Chicken was so overcooked we literally couldn't penetrate the pieces with a fork - 1/10 because the sauce was decent. Too bad...I was really looking forward to it.

Looking for a quick spot Thursday evening before our flights Friday and this one checked the boxes. Yellow curry and Basil fried rice were excellent. Portions are huge and flavors are even bigger. Spice levels can be requested between 1-10. I thought 5-7 were perfect. Service was attentive and anyone of the servers were able to come up and assist/take your order. I felt this helped streamline things when other servers were busy. Clean and organized seating area plenty of room for multi guest dinners. read more
Lunch at Thai Lotus today was delicious! I ordered the Curry Chicken. It came with a side salad with yummy peanut sauce. A curry pop that melted in my mouth. Tofu soup with cabbage, ginger and rice. I also ordered my favorite Boba which was a Matcha with Ube and Boba. Just heaven! If you decide to order a Boba order it ahead of time at the Kiosk! I tried giving my server my phone number so that I could have credit for purchasing the Boba but she said next time use the Kiosk . Order your drink and then proceed to eat at Thai Lotus. This place SMACKS. The food, the service and the restaurant itself is an absolute hit. Have come here a few times recently for lunch and got their lunch special and it's such a good deal! So much food for a great price! This place is ALWAYS packed during lunch hour so you know they're doing something right. Always a treat coming here. I didn't get one but they have an AMAZING selection of boba. Def check this place out! You won't be disappointed. read more

I just spent $10 on portion size of a little more than half a dollar. The food is good here but the size to cost ratio is not. I ordered the fresh spring rolls and this is what I got. I can't recommend this Thai restaurant, when every other Thai/asian restaurant fresh rolls are regular size for the same price. I guess Bangkok cuisine is now my permanent goto for Thai food. The servers were all nice and it had a traditionally themed interior. read more
Quick and friendly service at the pickup counter. I could tell the chicken and shrimp were fried and the same oil... or something similar because the chicken did not taste right. Overall the dish was spicy, but i didn't order shrimp so I shouldn't be tasting it. read more
I came in to get boba next door before picking my kids up and heading back to Sparks. I realized that I have not been in Thai Lotus since my youngest was born. It's my old man's favorite Thai restaurant in town, but our last visit here service fell short. I decided to order to-go and sat on their bench by the counter. I wanted to go straight home after picking my kids up from school. I ordered two lunch specials today; a chicken basil and a chicken pad thai. I'm happy to report that my food was deliciously packed with flavor and hot. The girl working at the counter was patient and friendly while ordering and my food was up within 10 minutes. I look forward to returning soon. Thanks for a delicious and satisfying lunch. read more
Ooo man do I love Thai food and they are already connected to my favorite boba place in town so it was a double whammy that they have the best Thai food as well. I got pad Thai and my partner got a curry that was SOOO delicious. The service was great and was knowledgeable of the menu. Everything came out in. A timely manner and the portions was great for what you pay for. I really enjoyed the ambiance and the lighting of the place and will be coming back for boba and to try a different dish next time! read more

We came here for a quick dinner at Reno and were quickly seated. They have a huge menu, but we still were able to find our regular orders. We got pad see ew (beef) and chicken Thai Basil fried Rice. The Pad see ew was order with no heat but it was very sweet to eat. We're used to it being savory without being spicy. The fried rice also didn't have the usual "sauce" that Thai basil rice is cooked with and came out very dry. I was tempted to order a curry to go with it. Both dishes had large portions and easily shareable. The inside was kept clean and had Thai decor with plenty of parking in the front. read more

This place is always great to go to if you're craving Thai. The lunch specials are my favorite. You get a little bit of everything. The red curry is my absolute favorite from this spot. The shrimps are huge and the flavor is there!!! Always there!!! Service is always great. Just know the place does close mid day so they can have lunch and great ready for dinner service. Place is always clean as well. read more

Let me start with being Asian, we LOVE Thai food. Unfortunately Thai Lotus is not the place I would start, necessarily. To be fair, not all restaurants make all dishes perfectly but you do have to do the basics well. We visited Thai Lotus on the recommendation of friends after our weekly Pickleball play. The restaurant has a nice ambiance to it and they were able to accomodate our larger party (12) quite willingly. The staff were helpful and friendly. Always a challenge when serving a busy restaurant. Pad Thai, a true staple of Thai Cuisine. Our dish was overly saucey and just too sweet. We ordered our meal with Tofu. The Tofu was a bit tough and quite tasteless. I ordered the Yellow Curry. Perhaps one of my favorite Thai dishes. This had to be the most bland tasting, watery instances I have ever tried. It was just bad. It did have a generous portion of protein (Chicken) but was completly devoid of flavor. I'm sure they have other dishes that may better suit your pallet but on this evening, these two dishes did not suit ours. read more

We came back after a great experience 9 years ago, and I really wanted to love it again. The reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 2 is because the staff and service were excellent--they were well-staffed, attentive, and genuinely kind. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the memory. We ordered two lunch specials: Pad Thai with chicken and Pumpkin Curry with chicken. The specials came with a broth-and-veggie soup, an iceberg salad with peanut dressing, a fried appetizer with sweet Thai chili sauce, and rice. The issue was that nearly everything--except the soup and rice--was overwhelmingly sweet. It tasted as if sugar had been added generously, without the usual balancing notes of lime, fish sauce, tamarind, or acidity. The Pad Thai in particular lacked the classic tamarind flavor and instead resembled the sweetness of a sweet-and-sour sauce. It was almost inedible. The chicken in both dishes also tasted old and reheated, and didn't seem integrated into the sauces--almost like it was cooked separately and tossed in at the end, leaving it bland and dry. Maybe this is a lunch-batch issue, but at $40 for two lunch specials, it's hard to justify trying again. I'm disappointed because we had such a wonderful experience years ago, but this visit just didn't deliver on flavor or freshness. So now I have to find good Thai in Reno. read more

The food was easily top 5 nationwide, if not top 2. You can tell when you walk in because it's always busy. The staff is knowledgeable, and they bend over backwards to take care of you. We had a minor issue with our order (a computer glitch or something caused our order to get lost in the kitchen). Their response in correctly the issue was completely disproportionate to the severity of the issue. I've seldom had anyone work so hard to take care of me and my wife. Will absolutely be back! read more

This was a great stop, and found by perusing local Reno Yelp reviews to locate a good Thai lunch spot. Although busy with a lunch rush, I was seated and given water right away. The excellent service continued throughout the meal and I was impressed by the excellent flavor profiles of the dish I ordered. They used fresh and flavorful ingredients, and added just the right amount of seasoning to make my Khao Kra Prao Moo Saap (pictured) a memorable and delicious meal. Many other places go light on the sauce, Thai Lotus gave me plenty of sauce to mix in with my jasmine rice and Prik Nam Pla topper. The booth I had was in a peaceful rear corner of the room, giving me a good people watching vantage point where I could see, friends, co-workers, couples both young and old enjoying a memorable meal together. It was nice to see the prevailing happiness and positive vibe. I will definitely be eating here again and am glad I found it! It's in an easy to find shopping center on the corner of Neil Road and South Virginia Street. read more

Had an amazing experience here! We ordered: - Potstickers in red curry - Papaya salad - Panang curry - Sticky white rice - Chicken fried rice Everything was absolutely delicious! The flavors were spot on, and the service was quick and friendly. We've already recommended this place to several friends and family. As an added bonus, they also serve Oddcha boba, which has incredible boba teas with unique and tasty flavors. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Yellow Curry = I will come back for it - it needs some green and please dice the potatoes smaller And cook it more Pad Thai = you can make it yourself from the bottle sauce Shrimp Lobster Garlic = super super garlicky- if you love garlic - this is yours - need some more salt but nothing special besides having a lot of garlic Golden Fried egg roll or lumpia = it's the filipino vegetable lumpia - it's ok but not going to order this again Shrimp Rangoon = you can make that at home means it's basic appetizer Overall - I will take out the curry but not dining. read more
There's boba here. I got the taro Because it looked good but it's not mixed in so it tastes like milk. Free soup for lunch. They take card and have lots of parking. Places gets full because it's good and has vegan choices. I like the spiciness and all the dishes and lunch specials read more
11/12/24- Let's see: the saying of having your cake and eating it too.. this is it.. Pretty amazing when you get a nice lunch special and can have a delicious boba drink! Stopped in and had the cashew chicken lunch special.. Tender pieces of nice cut sized chicken- salad and rice.. Hubby got the honey chicken level 2- (a little too hot for him).. but everything was great.. also the soup was included. read more

By any chance did you change either ownership or Chef? We have been enjoying your food for 2 1/2 years. We tend to reorder our favorites. But the last order we put in on a Friday about 2 weeks ago was COMPLETELY different and not in a good way
To be honest, I have not eaten there in a while as the last time I did, the food was not nice. My daughter and I wasted our money getting take out. Our food was cooked in fish oil and we were not happy as they did not tell us they cook it in fish oil

Does anyone know if they use MSG or dried shrimp in any of there dishes?
I've had allergic reactions to msg in my food at other restaurants and never had any reactions from eating at Thai Lotus for last 5 years. ASK the owner Sit to be sure. He will know what dishes could possibly have dried shrimp.
