Found parking on nearby Tenth & Virginia went inside but it looked like they were closing for the night, totallyyy bummed we started to head out. An employee popped out from the back asked if we were ready to order, so to our surprise and delight we were happy to realize they were still open and confirmed by them - we asked if we get a moment to look over the menu. We looked over the menu, grabbed a table and decided on the Korean BBQ Beef Bowl plus an order of chips with side of guacamole and for drinks Kombucha and Lemonade. Staff was friendly, helpful but unfortunately as we sat and sat wondering where are order of chips with guacamole wandered off in the completely empty restaurant - they had just forgotten that we had even ordered drinks or chips & guac...hence my minus 2 stars. We ordered online for pickup which was super easy and convenient. The website allows you to fully customize your order too without needing to ask at the cashier, especially if there is a line. Our dinner consisted of the Sumac Salad ($11.50) w/o feta, and was a delicious blend of kale, spinach, crispy chickpeas, green applies, quinoa, raisins, and olives. The vinaigrette they used was very refreshing and I'd definitely order this again. I love the laid-back vibe and casual bar seating almost as much as their decor. My most recent visit was with my cousin from out of town and her children and of course myself and my children; we had a party of 7. The kids were impressed with their chicken quesadillas and beans. My cousin and I ordered two chicken bowls, and my kids ordered two orders of their salsa and queso with chips and bean and cheese burritos. Some time had lapsed since my last visit there, but my tasebuds were overwhelmed with all of the fresh flavors in our bowls. We ordered cookies for the kids to eat on the way back to my car. If you're looking for a local spot for lunch in Midtown, check it out. They offer a more vegan and paleo friendly menu, and they don't dig too deep into your pockets. Although it took a while for us to even order, I knew our food would be worth it. There were food delivery drivers waiting by the bar and a full line behind us. There was only one girl running and trying to aid everyone. We felt for her. She was doing her best! They gave us our drinks, chips, and queso for the long wait. I was in Reno, NV for a business trip and unfortunately the food that was served at the event I was attending was not vegetarian friendly... Due to this, I did a little research and happened to find Laughing Planet Cafe which was about a 15-minute walk from the event center. I am SO GLAD I found this place!! The food was incredible! I hesitated slightly when I ordered the Vegetable Quesadilla as it included carrots and cauliflower - something that I wouldn't think to put in a quesadilla... But the combination of vegetables plus the queso fresco and their house made green sauce was beyond perfect!! I ate the entire thing and could've probably eaten more. They were low on fruits for the smoothies, so I ended up going with the Mango Banana that's typically a kinds menu item because they ran out of peaches for the Mango Peach that I wanted to try. Nevertheless, it was equally delicious! Also, the service was fantastic! This place is counter-service and the guy behind the counter on this day was doing basically everything himself, but was friendly the entire time and handled it all with grace. Much appreciated!! I love this place! Such a cool atmosphere and a great deck to sit on in the summer. I love the food and they always have unique specials. My favorites are the comfort bowl and the Lebanese bowl (an occasional special). They also have a great selection of cookies and drinks. The people there are always very friendly. I chose the Bollywood Bowl and my companion had the Korean BBQ bowl. both were under 650 calories, and remarkably delicious. This is really convenient for students and anyone who has a job near campus. The food is very fresh and has so many options for all kinds of people. There are meat options, vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, smoothies, pretty much anything you're in the mood for. I have gotten some things I don't like but that happens. However I've gotten a lot of great things. My favorite is the crunchero quesadilla. It is my favorite quesadilla out of anywhere I've been. The spankys bowl And the comfort bowl are my other favorites. They also have never been "out" of anything before, which is saying a lot considering they're in a popular spot. I love the menu and location, but this laughing planet always seems to be out of something! (Smoothie ingredients mostly). I am a fan of Laughing Planet - I love that they offer fresh, healthy, delicious, and reasonably priced vegetarian fare that is different from other places in town. I also love that they always offer a seasonal dish with both meat and veggie friendly options. Offering a wide selection of craft beers is also really nice (my current favorite is a hazy IPA they have on tap). It is really great to have a LP located so close to the UNR campus! A welcome alternative to the pizza and hamburger joints in the area. And on Wednesday nights from 7:30 - 9:30 there is free live jazz performed by talented UNR jazz and improvisational music students! I absolutely loved the flavor of the mushroom tacos but the burrito was a bit dry and a tad on the bland side aside from the pickled carrots. They are a bit overpriced in my opinion but still worth checking out if you've never been or treating yourself for a healthy diverse option! I am extremely allergic to berries and asked the employee if it was possible to get my smoothie made in a clean blender because of my allergy. She was extremely helpful and she made sure the blender was cleaned before making my drink. They are extremely accommodating and made sure my health was #1 and my allergies were heard. The Thai bowl was pretty good but I was not a fan of the tofu and probably should have gotten chicken. Otherwise I think the bowl was light, healthy, and flavorful with the peanut sauce. Laughing planet has become a staple of my diet in the last two weeks! Right now they have a seasonal bowl named "the Lebanese bowl". It satisfies my Mediterranean cravings with a mix of lentils, chicken & delicious tahini sauce. Otherwise, on the regular menu you just can't lose with the Bollywood bowl. Also I don't want to recommend the snickerdoodle cookies because there's a limited amount but sharing is caring - the cookies are delicious. Wait time is a little long at the one on campus so if you're in rush to get back to the office, order ahead of time to save some time. The soda foundation is full of craft sodas and regular/sparkling water. The most interesting thing about this little place is that they serve you on Fiestaware and you bus your own table and separate your trash, recyclables, and dishes. Fantastic idea. This is the first restaurant that I've been to that blatantly shows such priorities. The menu is vegan friendly and offers most dishes that do have meat and cheese to be ordered without or without dairy free substitute(s). For portion size the menu is very fairly priced. You are getting quite the bang for your buck. Now for the food: DELICIOUS. Everything tastes very fresh. The salsa had a good bite to it without being overly spicy. The crunchero was very good.
