Finally got to try this spot out, after years of driving past it when visiting Reno. I came here for a late lunch and ordered the Mediterranean chicken bowl which is quinoa, farro, arugula, diced chicken, tomatoe and cucumber salad, Kalamata olives and served with a tzatziki sauce and toasted pita slices. This was exactly what I was in the mood for! Somewhat light but very filling and packed with goodness. My husband ordered the Reno deli special which had salami and pepperoncinis, pesto and served with a small side salad with blue cheese and cranberries and a white balsamic dressing. I didn't try his sandwich but he said it was delicious and the salad was very lovely. I also got to try the tomato bisque which wasn't super smooth but I w joyed hw texture. Service was great by every staff member we came in contact with. This will be a new regular stop for me, anytime I am in Reno. There is seating inside and some tables outside as well. 19 years running and still one of the most beloved restaurants in all of Northern Nevada! Is it the scratch made suits? Perhaps The always smiling and overly friendly staff? Or is it that epic side salad that comes with every sandwich? I like to think that it's a combination of everything above that makes this place a spot that people return to time and time again. For me, it's the friendly faces and the family owned lives that this place is dudes which bring me here from time to time. And the warmer Mo I don't often think about it, but they do have incredibly welcoming patio with lots of shade and great salads and sandwiches if you don't feel like soup. But of course there's always an awesome option of having a cup of soup with your sandwich just to round out the experience. From what I can tell, not a whole lot has changed about this spot and that's with good reason. The people have spoken over and over and over again in this community loves this restaurant just the way it is. When you come here, you can't go wrong with the grilled cheese and classic tomato soup but if you're feeling adventurous, try the soup sampler and taste a few at once to pick your favorite then find out when it's on the menu so you can plan your return based around it. Me I'm a sandwich guy and my most recent visit. I had to try the barbecue chicken on the jalapeño cheddar roll. Chicken with succulent, not overly sauce with light spice and the fresh veggies on top made for a really nice sandwich. The bread was a little bit thick and I ended up eating most of it open face so in the future, I'd say if there's an option for this barbecue chicken to go on top of the salad, you won't miss there. When I entered the restaurant we were greeted immediately. My husband and I came here for a quick lunch! It is small inside, but has alot more outdoor seating. We split a turkey pesto sandwich and I'm glad we did since it was pretty big! It comes with a side salad, but I upgraded to the strawberry salad. The sandwich was great! When visiting Reno, I highly encourage anyone that is looking for a delightful and relaxing lunch spot to definitely check out "Süp". Located directly on S. Virginia St and adjacent to St. Lawrence Ave in the heart of the Midtown neighborhood of Reno, Süp has served up delicious and healthy sandwiches, salads, and soups dating back to 2007. This place has been on my radar for quite some time and I finally got to experience what it was all about. Since this is in a fairly busy commercial part of town, it can be a bit tricky to find parking. However, we were able to park only a block away and this was during the afternoon on Thursday 7/2/2026 at around 12:15pm. After making the short way to the business, I absolutely loved the exterior aesthetics and layout were represented. The business itself mimics a house complete with a large front patio area that actually snakes around to the side of the house for the more comfortable Reno days. The wooden tables with plastic chairs and covered tents to shield off the sun were a very nice touch. The inside also offers very generous indoor seating complete with ample space for a single person, a couple, or a family. Their menu are digitally presented on LED TVs complete with some of their specials that are handwritten on a chalkboard. My lady and I both decided to order sandwiches to get our fuel and energy for the day. I went with their "Char-Grilled Steak Baguette"; this came complete with their bistro steak drizzled with chimichurri sauce and topped with caramelized onions, New York white cheddar & sharp cheddar cheese and served on a cheddar poppy seed baguette. My lady went with their "Reno Deli"; this offered salami, pepperoncini & pesto layered with spinach, tomatoes, provolone cheese, and aioli on toasted sourdough bread. Both of our sandwiches came with a side house salad. Once given our number (we got Tahoe St), we decided to sit outside and take full advantage of the weather (as it was a perfect 78°F). What I particularly like is that the ambiance is the perfect vibe for daydreaming, people watching, and enjoying the simplicity that a city like Reno offers. Both our sandwiches arrived in roughly 10 minutes and were presented on white porcelain plates. My sandwich was made to perfection as the cheddar baguette securely held the fillings quite nicely. There was a lot of seasoned steak as the other sauces were not too overpowering. And considering the size of this, it got me quite full as I wasn't hungry until much later in the day. I will say that if you're looking for a reputable small business that offers healthy fresh ingredients, excellent customer service, amazing ambiance in a very desirable area of Reno, I highly recommend giving "Süp" a try. Their selection of salads, sandwiches, bowls, and soups are all wonderful choices as they focus on farm-fresh ingredients. And if time allows, I highly encourage everyone to eat here as I felt right at home during my 45-minute stay. Went to Sup for the first time, it was a little difficult to find parking but that's to be expected in midtown. Ordered at the counter then got the food delivered to a table. I got the combo #2 with the chicken club and a cup of mushroom tom yum soup. Wow the soup blew me away! Really wonderful flavor. The chicken on the sandwich was pretty dry but besides that it was still pretty tasty. My partner got the grilled cheese and that was spectacular. Blown away by this place. I love healthy food that's also tasty, and when it's priced reasonably, that's the trifecta for me. I got the Thai chicken bowl (minus jalapeños). Everything tasted super fresh. The brown rice and cabbage blend was just the right degree of crunchy and chewy; the carrots, red bell peppers, and edamame were crisp; the chicken was perfectly grilled (you could taste the char) and sesame seeded, and the peanut vinaigrette added a sumptuous touch of sweetness to everything. I also got a cup of scratch-made vegan split pea soup that was likewise very fresh and tasted just right. Doesn't exactly compare to a top-notch non-vegan version (no ham), but very good and satisfying. Staff was super friendly and helpful (and patient), both in explaining the ingredients of some of the soups and bringing our meal to the table. Bonus points for the great lowkey music. Minus points for the parking, though--we couldn't tell where to park other than in one of the three spots along the street (one of which was fortunately open). Holy WOW, it was so nice to be reminded what good, clean, locally produced food really tastes like. With all our chains becoming "Syscoized" and all tasting the same now, local flavor is so critical. Stopped by Süp today, a Friday around noon, and even though it was fairly busy, everything moved quickly and smoothly. We ordered right away, found a spot outside with heat lamps, and had our food in under 10 minutes, which was impressive. The food was delicious. Comforting, flavorful, and just plain yummy. The soups rotate so you can try different things. The staff will also let you taste if you are unsure. The butternut squash soup today was excellent. There were some crotons on the top. High school heartbreak, fuel with friends before our first tattoos or piercing down the road, first dates, sick days before, during, and after the pandemic, business lunches, as well as serious heart-to-hearts and carefree nights out with loved ones. Süp has been there for everything! When I think of Süp, I think of stability, consistency, warmth (pun intended), and comfort. The friendly faces have changed over the years, but every single person has made the little shop a welcoming spot for a meal of any kind. The menu has been tweaked ever so slightly over the years, but has remained constant enough that even if months pass I can count on my favorites. I will say I miss the mini oatmeal cookie that used to come with every order. But I also love the major improvements to the patio space that have come about in the past few years. The quirky art that rotates seasonally keeps the space up-to-date, and the local street names in lieu of table numbers maintains the nostalgia from decades ago. When you walk in, Sup feels very homey, and it was no surprise to learn that the building had been a home at one point. Soup selection is excellent, as you'd hope, with options from standards like chicken noodle and broccoli cheddar to rotating varieties like Ajiaco (chicken, corn, potato) and African peanut (warming and nutty). They offer budget-friendly combos (soup with salad or sandwich + drink) for around $16, and it's a lot of food. I was pleasantly surprised by the cranberry salad, which can often go too sweet, but here is balanced by a good amount of gorgonzola, almonds and a well-crafted white balsamic (also not too sweet). Love to see options for vegan/veggie and meat both prepared well with equal attention to detail...also something that can feel unbalanced at places. Ingredients tasted fresh and unprocessed, and we went back twice in the same week for more. My only suggestion would be for them to think about crafting some equally fresh drink options, which would pair better than fountain drinks with the quality of the food. To top off the great food is the warm and thoughtful service. Each time I've gone, questions have been answered knowledgably, with care for the food and what seems like a genuine desire to match you with the right options. It took me a couple of tries to "warm up" to Sup. Unless I have a really bad experience, I always try to go a few times before I write a review. Each time I went, I seem to like it more and more and identify more and more favorites. It's such a great go to place for soups and salads. I always get the largest size but the intention to bring it home and then end up usually eating it there. The African peanut stew and the chili are my two favorites but everything is good even the fairly straightforward chicken noodle. The cashiers always have a smile, i've never had to wait more than a few minutes to order and since most is prepared in advance, it's quick . The cranberry salad is also a winner. But don't give up it's worth it! After about 15 minutes of circling we were finally able to come to warm our tummies on this chilly day. First thing I noticed was the bread is phenomenal, that paired with the generous amount of steak has me wanting to come back for more! So first off, the local beer selection is actually pretty awesome, they had me sold immediately at 8% craft cider!! The wife and I ordered 2 different cups of soup and split the steak sandwich. The steak sandwich was not at all what I would have expected, only a few everything slices of I guess deli style charred meat, BUT everything was pretty dang good and this is a really cool location. The sauce on the steak sandwich was pretty bomb and the bread was to die for, I'm a bit of a bread snob. Very chewy and crisp. I'm just not too sure I would be coming here during any of the warm times of the year. We happened to just have enough time to squeeze in a lunch on a rainy day so this really did hit the spot. It was a pretty quiet day and was not as busy since I came in when it just opened so I was able to sit by the window watching the snow while I ate.
