Holy WOW, it was so nice to be reminded what good, clean, locally produced food really tastes like. With all our chains becoming "Syscoized" and all tasting the same now, local flavor is so critical. Owners Casey & Christian have NEVER abandoned their mission, vision, values, or promise to this community and I, for one, appreciate it now more than ever. I've given Sup multiple reviews because I can't get enough of them! One of my absolute favorite restaurants in town. Friendly staff. Consistent delicious food. Vegan/vegetarian options. A little salad with soul and sandwich is perfection. Tried the miso soup and it was delicious. My 3 year old loved it also. Great amount of tofu (which means a lot because a lot of places skimp on the amount of tofu). Keep up the good work!! read more

Blown away by this place. I love healthy food that's also tasty, and when it's priced reasonably, that's the trifecta for me. I got the Thai chicken bowl (minus jalapeños). Everything tasted super fresh. The brown rice and cabbage blend was just the right degree of crunchy and chewy; the carrots, red bell peppers, and edamame were crisp; the chicken was perfectly grilled (you could taste the char) and sesame seeded, and the peanut vinaigrette added a sumptuous touch of sweetness to everything. I also got a cup of scratch-made vegan split pea soup that was likewise very fresh and tasted just right. Doesn't exactly compare to a top-notch non-vegan version (no ham), but very good and satisfying. Staff was super friendly and helpful (and patient), both in explaining the ingredients of some of the soups and bringing our meal to the table. Bonus points for the great lowkey music. Minus points for the parking, though--we couldn't tell where to park other than in one of the three spots along the street (one of which was fortunately open). Every time when in Reno and I get a chance, I stop to eat here. It's located in the heart of Midtown. It looks like a little house. They have a nice outside patio that overseas people walking in Midtown. You order in the counter and you get your number and they bring the food to you. They serve sandwiches, soups, and salads. I love everything here ! I had multiple items here and they are all so delicious and fresh. All the employees are super friendly and attentive. One of the "OG" Midtown businesses. Süp predates the "Midtown" moniker and is one of the businesses that created the walkable, foodie hub that we know and love today. For nearly 2 decades, the daily rotation of soups paired with a fresh Cranberry Salad or comforting Grilled Cheese has been the fixture for every chapter of life. High school heartbreak, fuel with friends before our first tattoos or piercing down the road, first dates, sick days before, during, and after the pandemic, business lunches, as well as serious heart-to-hearts and carefree nights out with loved ones. Süp has been there for everything! When I think of Süp, I think of stability, consistency, warmth (pun intended), and comfort. The friendly faces have changed over the years, but every single person has made the little shop a welcoming spot for a meal of any kind. The menu has been tweaked ever so slightly over the years, but has remained constant enough that even if months pass I can count on my favorites. I will say I miss the mini oatmeal cookie that used to come with every order. But I also love the major improvements to the patio space that have come about in the past few years. The quirky art that rotates seasonally keeps the space up-to-date, and the local street names in lieu of table numbers maintains the nostalgia from decades ago. I had a few hours between a medical appointment in Reno and my flight taking off so my wife suggested Süp. I'm so glad she did! What a wonderful little restaurant with some fantastic food! Wow! I ordered a grilled cheese combo with some astonishingly good tomato bisque soup! Totally hit the spot! It was a cold day and as I ate, I could see an old lady shivering on a nearby bench so bought her the same thing I was eating to warm her up and provide a brief reprieve. The inside had a warm ambiance with lots of lighter wood. You're given a number on a stick when you order and they bring your meal right out to you. My favorite is getting one of the combo specials. I particularly like the grilled cheese with the soup, little side salad, and a drink. And for $15.99 it's a pretty good deal. The soups rotate so you can try different things. The staff will also let you taste if you are unsure. The butternut squash soup today was excellent. There were some crotons on the top. The flavors of the grilled are mouthwatering and the bread crisped to perfection. I usually end up taking half the sandwich home. It took me a couple of tries to "warm up" to Sup. Unless I have a really bad experience, I always try to go a few times before I write a review. Each time I went, I seem to like it more and more and identify more and more favorites. It's such a great go to place for soups and salads. I always get the largest size but the intention to bring it home and then end up usually eating it there. The African peanut stew and the chili are my two favorites but everything is good even the fairly straightforward chicken noodle. The cashiers always have a smile, i've never had to wait more than a few minutes to order and since most is prepared in advance, it's quick . The cranberry salad is also a winner. When you walk in, Sup feels very homey, and it was no surprise to learn that the building had been a home at one point. Soup selection is excellent, as you'd hope, with options from standards like chicken noodle and broccoli cheddar to rotating varieties like Ajiaco (chicken, corn, potato) and African peanut (warming and nutty). They offer budget-friendly combos (soup with salad or sandwich + drink) for around $16, and it's a lot of food. I was pleasantly surprised by the cranberry salad, which can often go too sweet, but here is balanced by a good amount of gorgonzola, almonds and a well-crafted white balsamic (also not too sweet). Love to see options for vegan/veggie and meat both prepared well with equal attention to detail...also something that can feel unbalanced at places. Ingredients tasted fresh and unprocessed, and we went back twice in the same week for more. My only suggestion would be for them to think about crafting some equally fresh drink options, which would pair better than fountain drinks with the quality of the food. To top off the great food is the warm and thoughtful service. Each time I've gone, questions have been answered knowledgably, with care for the food and what seems like a genuine desire to match you with the right options. Kudos to management and staff for this welcoming community vibe, which is so hard to create. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seats. We've been coming to this spot for years, and it has truly never disappointed. It's one of those reliable, places that always hits the for lunch. I keep coming back for their grilled cheese with their tomato bisque soup. Literally have never changed from that order. My wife is a big fan of their clam chowder, which she also gets with her grilled cheese. The consistency in quality and service over the years is what keeps us returning. Their house salad is also very good along with the little cookies they give you . Only downside can be finding parking and also finding seating . There were so many onions (huge chunks) i had to remove nearly half of them--and I really enjoy onion on my sandwich--see pix. The bread was disgustingly dry and chewy. Wife--toasted veggie. First off, good luck parking here, as with most places in Midtown this can be quite difficult during busy times. They do have a couple spots in the back that are worth a try checking. But don't give up it's worth it! After about 15 minutes of circling we were finally able to come to warm our tummies on this chilly day. We chose the Char-Grilled Steak Baguette w/roasted red pepper horseradish cream and the chicken tortilla soup. First thing I noticed was the bread is phenomenal, that paired with the generous amount of steak has me wanting to come back for more! The chicken tortilla soup had a wonderful flavor and paired well with the sandwich. They also have a fantastic selection of cold beverages available. First time here, been wanting to come for years but every single time I have tried I give up on trying to park and leave with high blood pressure. ...but this time was different! This time it only took 15 minutes of driving in circles trying to find parking, and I took my new found high blood pressure and sat down and tried Süp anyways! So first off, the local beer selection is actually pretty awesome, they had me sold immediately at 8% craft cider!! The wife and I ordered 2 different cups of soup and split the steak sandwich. The steak sandwich was not at all what I would have expected, only a few everything slices of I guess deli style charred meat, BUT everything was pretty dang good and this is a really cool location. The sauce on the steak sandwich was pretty bomb and the bread was to die for, I'm a bit of a bread snob. Very chewy and crisp. I'm just not too sure I would be coming here during any of the warm times of the year. We happened to just have enough time to squeeze in a lunch on a rainy day so this really did hit the spot. People working were friendly and the food came out pretty quick, so service gets good marks for sure. This place is deceptively small on the outside, but has plenty of seating both inside and out. I had to call twice to check on the order which was a bit frustrating because I think they forgot about us. I have ALWAYS loved Sup since being here in Northern NV. It's been quite a while since I have been at Sup , but after my most recent visit, I am reminded why I like this place so much. I came in on a cold snowy/rainy day, so it was the perfect day to have soup. Honestly because it has been such a long time since I've been here, I didn't remember them having the combo options before and I didn't really take the time to see if they have made changes to their menu, but I ordered what I always remembered being so good: The Broccoli Cheddar, The Turkey Pesto, and their salad. This is the #1 combo on their menu. I didn't have a chance to see if maybe getting the cookie they used to serve with their plates was separate, but I do remember the reason I used to also love going to Sup was for that cookie they had, so I was a little sad that it was not on my plate when I got my food, but everything else was still so good. It was a pretty quiet day and was not as busy since I came in when it just opened so I was able to sit by the window watching the snow while I ate. I still recommend Sup to this day for those that are stopping by Reno especially if wanting soup on a cold day. It is and always will be a favorite Reno eats for me. read more

Tried out Süp for lunch today. It was a perfect rainy day for soup and a sandwich. My husband had the Mushroom Farro soup and a half Pesto Turkey. I had the Tomato Bisque and a half Club. Both of our meals included the Cranberry Salad. The food was fresh and had great flavor. I was only able to eat about half of my food because there was so much. When we entered inside their was a nasty stench that flooded the building so we sat outside so we didn't have to smell it and only 1 of their outdoor heaters worked. So we ate in the cold because that heater was serving another guest and we weren't in proximity of it to feel much. The other 2/3 of them didn't work. My sandwich was amazing and tasty , my soup nice and hot and flavorful. The place was just cute on the inside and the staff were so friendly and efficient. They have a good little spot here, the only down fall I see as a non Reno resident, I dislike the parking, it's so confusing and not designated for this specific restaurant. I visited this establishment because I heard they had excellent healthy food. I ordered a half turkey pesto with salad and water to drink. The meal was $19.99 plus tax and tip. Not sure how much the tomato bisque cost. The sandwich was tasteless, it had one slice of turkey. The only thing good about it was the jalapeno bread which I can buy at a grocery store. The salad was a few lettuce leaves with sprinkled dried cranberries. My friend got the same thing but added a tomato bisque which he said tasted good but he didn't touch his salad as shown on the picture. The inside of the cafe was cute. They displayed local art.
