I'm not normally a fan of burrito or bowl based fast casual places, but this place is on another level. The menu is essentially a bunch of dishes that can be a burrito, bowl, or salad. Each dish is from a different country, and I think they have a few specials that are more traditional plates. I love west African and Caribbean food, and Reno is severely lacking in both of these options, so it was very welcome to see some options from these locations. I got a rice bowl with Senegalese Mafffe. The food came out fast, and was very good, just the right amount of spice, and killer flavors. The pricing is very fair ($12 for a high quality dish). The portions were a little small, but that's probably a good thing. My biggest complaint is that it has scratched an itch I forgot I had, and now I want a more full fleged West African food experience. read more

Was excited to check out this newer spot, but unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. The food was just okay--nothing memorable enough to make me want to return. The real dealbreaker, however, was the customer service.When ordering, we asked to add onions to the wraps. We were told, "the servings are already weighed out and prepped so we can't add onion." Fair enough. We then asked, "Can we just get a side of onions?" The two staff members simply stared at us and replied, "No, we can't do that because then we'll have to cut the onion." Even after offering to pay for the side of onions, they flat-out refused, simply because they didn't want to prep them. I would understand if they said they didn't have onions but that was never expressed by staff. I always like trying new places, but I will not be coming back here. read more

The plantain chips scared me as I'm allergic to tree nuts but it gave me a neutralizing flavor that added a texture bite and wasn't expecting! The flavors were well executed and every bite was almost different in nature. Meaty, savory, sweet, pickled, there was so much to unravel with not enough bites! I'm glad to have tried this and only giving it a 4.5 as I would have appreciated just a little more cheese on this, but I can ask next time! If you're not a cheese person. This is a 5/5 my friend! Great menu with lots of unusual dishes from all over the world. I had the nutty bird from Senegal. Wow was that good, very flavorful with salsa verde and peanuts and a nice peppery bite. The barrique from Mexico was layers of pico de gallo, lime, cheese and braised beef. Both were very different and very flavorful. The owner couldn't have been more friendly and personable. My yelp elite goal this year was to try new spots so today we decided to try out MF and I got to meet Eddie the Manager and Jason one of the owners and cook. We had the special the Patty pig burrito since St Patrick's Day is around the corner which had very unique flavors. I look forward to going back and trying a signature burrito. wanted to try this place since they moved from their former downtown location at the old Mellow Fellow, which had a charm all its own so we finally had the chance to experience their new space. Stepping in on a Saturday afternoon, we found the atmosphere surprisingly serene; for a while, we essentially had the entire place to ourselves. The interior design is nice and welcoming, offering ample seating and a vibe that makes you want to linger. as you walk in the right side has a wall of their menu items, so we decided on a diverse spread to get a true feel for the menu: The Papa Yaya Wrap, The Chilango Bowl,The New York Bowl One minor hurdle we encountered was during the ordering process. We attempted to customize our meal by adding "grilled peppers" (an ingredient featured on a different menu item) to our order. However, the house policy is quite strict: no substitutions or additions are permitted. While this ensures consistency for the kitchen, it's worth noting for those like myself who prefer a more bespoke dining experience. The food itself is the concept of cool pairings from different countries gives the menu a refreshing diversity, and the flexibility to turn any signature item into either a bowl or a wrap is a fantastic touch. The Papa Yaya Wrap: The flavors here were genuinely impressive. This is an interesting concept. They have a handful or so of different dishes that can be ordered as a burrito, bowl or salad. You self order and they bring your food to you. The items all looked good. I ordered the Korean bowl and a lemonade. The prices are as expected but the portions seemed smaller than I was anticipating. The flavor was good but the rice was a weird texture, almost old rice heated up with water. The lemonade was pretty good. We may try it again and see if it's a similar experience. Their tortillas are exceptional! I also tried the Yaya bowl. It looked beautiful upon arrival and I was excited to dig in. I did like the tangy papaya salad, it gives good flavor. But The downside for me was their rice to protein ratio was way off. I thought I saw lots of chicken but when I dug in I realized it was mostly peanuts... Finally came in to try this place and it's so cute inside. Location is central. They have a lot of variety and make burritos, bowls and salads for all items on the menu and have international inspired dishes. I tried the Akeem the dream as a burrito and it was really good!! It's a melt your face off kind of dish though so I wish it had a little more peanut taste and slightly less spicy heat. My husband tried the Havana as a bowl and that was also really good! It had barely any mofongo and a lot of beans so the portion was also a little off but great ingredients and idea. We also tried a Girl Scout cookie milkshake and it was soo good and a Thai basil turmeric lemonade and it was amazing. Can't wait to try more stuff on the menu. What a unique and impressive restaurant concept. You are greeted upon entering and given instructions on different ways to order and that each meal comes either as a salad, burrito, or bowl. I got an Athena bowl which is kind of like a gyro, but with a variety of flavors and heat that I haven't tasted anywhere else. Service was fast and really pleasant. MF International lives up to its name - the flavors are truly inspired from around the world and so unique. I love all the options they have and that you can get your food as burrito, bowl, or salad. We had a Get to the Chopper salad (10/10 recommend, packed with lots of deliciousness and those pickles were so good), a burrito that was Spanish inspired for the World Cup (also wonderful and reminded us of paella that we've had in Spain), and our kiddo had a quesadilla from the kid's menu. All the food that we tried was fantastic and the flavor marched the theme of each place it was representing. Inside there's plenty of seating and the decor is so cute and welcoming (they have flags from around the world). The staff is also very friendly. I absolutely love this place and can't wait to come back and try other burritos. Stopped in here for dinner the other night. It is located where Black Rock Pizza used to be. This is like a fast casual gourmet fusion place serving burritos, bowls (burrito without the tortilla) and salads. Order at the counter, get drinks from the fountain and wait for your food. I ordered the Daffy Bowl and a duck noodle soup The soup came out first. The broth was flavorful. The noodles were a bit underdone. There was no duck meat in the soup. The Daffy Bowl was amazing and a perfect example of the fusion here. Making a burrito or a bowl and using duck instead of chicken, pork or beef isn't fusion. But using fried rice with duck skin cracklings, black beans, duck and basically the veggies from a Bahn Mi sandwich takes fusion to another level! All of their meals are like this. The Daffy was so good I'll probably order it a dozen more times before I try anything else! The staff was friendly and conscientious. I really hope they do well and prosper here. Love the concept and the idea of being able to try different cuisines as either a salad, bowl, or burrito- how unique. And being able to substitute any of the menu items for tofu or vegan protein was a plus! I had the papa yaya and while I enjoyed it and usually love my sauces, I found they went a little too heavy on the sauces and I felt like it drowned out the natural flavors of some of the vegetables. The idea of this place is amazing. A little taste of all types of places around the world found in the smallest big city. This place is gorgeous inside and has so much character. You can tell the owner put heart and soul into every little thing that went into this business. This isn't a spot where the flavors are lackluster or an idea of a dream of the actual flavor. Super excited to try this place. I got the Huli Bird chicken bowl. The chicken was very flavorful and moist. I love the size of the chopped up veggies, you get some with every bite. The service is great, very friendly, and helpful with the menu. Took the time to answer our questions and explain the menu. My grandson got the quesadilla with add fried chicken, it was super yummy and nice and crispy. The decor is very clean and has an International vibe. I've been looking forward to visiting MF International, and it did not disappoint! I stopped by today and tried the Chilango Burrito and the Duck Noodle Soup. Both were super tasty, full of flavor, and incredibly filling. The staff was welcoming and helpful in walking me through the menu. You could eat here every day and not get bored because there are so many choices. You go up to the counter and order; you get a number and they bring your food to the table. The service was quick, and the staff was super friendly. The decor and atmosphere are really nice! I had the Yaya salad and DH had the Athena burrito. I thought the salad was fantastic. The ingredients were super fresh and the lemongrass favor really came thru, which I love cause sometimes it gets lost with too many ingredients. The Athena burrito was also really yummy. I'm looking forward to checking out many more items on the menu! First time in and was so excited! The menu looked so good. We were seriously craving a good burrito and with all the reviews my excitement only grew and expectations were heightened. Upon walking up to order we were told they couldn't do any burritos due to them getting ready to do a food truck which didn't make any sense at all. We were disappointed but super hungry so we decided to do the bowls. We should've just left. Instead, we got the Marley and the Messi. Both of the bowls were frankly, nasty. The portions for them were extremely disappointing and next to zero meat, and the meat that was in it--tasted old. The first bite literally turned me off immediately. It was cold and tasted off. I was excited to try this place due to all the rave reviews but I wasn't very impressed. I ordered door dash on this occasion and the Huli Bird burrito because I'm a huge Hawaiian food fan. It just didn't do it for me, wasn't terrible, but wasn't great. First off, it was messy and poorly wrapped and halfway through I basically gave up trying to eat it like a burrito. The chicken was dry and there was too much sauce. The sauce flavor was okay but nothing special. The burrito wasn't very big for the price either. The Athena is basically a Greek burrito (think Gyro). Filled with house made Lamb & Beef Doner meat, cucumber, feta, tomato, kalamata olive tapenade, cous-cous, tzatziki & salsa verde all wrapped in a spinach herb flour tortilla...yes please! The Akeem delivers on bold flavor with Suya Marinated Sliced Ribeye (a Nigerian street food, hence the Akeem ref), raw red onion, tomato, Jollof Rice (West African), chili peanut sauce with salsa verde wrapped in whole wheat flour tortilla. This was the winner this time around. Well balanced flavor, a slight kick...makes for a happy mouth and tummy. The food is beyond expectations. I ordered the "The Marley" burrito and it was amazing. Great temperature and the vegetables and fruited in it genuinely tasted fresh and refreshing but mixed with the Latin adobo. It was excellent. The service was great, only one person was working register and serving but he was attentive and was clearly excited about the food he was serving. The interior is clean, calm and cozy with a nice tropical atmosphere. Also I'd like to add the sisig pancit bowl was amazing. It's like mixing pancit, sisig and Philippine adobo into one. I was craving a salad tonight, so I looked up "salad" and MF International popped up. As I entered, I was greeted warmly by staff as well as by the chef and co-owner, Jason. He went through and explained the menu items. Jason and staff are very friendly! I was intrigued by the Zepplin. I wanted to try it as a salad, but I was reminded that this dish has steamed rice. I tried it as a bowl instead. It was served fast and boy, it was delish! All those Lithuanian flavors came together nicely. The potatoes were crunchy on the outside while pillowy on the inside.
