You would think that a tofu burrito is not going to be very exciting. The tofu burrito (or taco, if you prefer) at Buenos Grill is, to me, tastier than any burrito or taco I ever had in California. Every time I come back to Buenos Grill, I find myself ordering this thing again and again. While not everything on the menu is as incredible, I do find that they have a lot of well prepared, thoughtful items. The mahi mahi with mango salsa is OK. The vegan lemon shortbread cookie is very nice. The staff behind the counter is super friendly, and the prices are about average. I came here after an exercise class and this is just what I needed. The fish was cooked perfectly on my tacos and the mango salsa is a nice touch. 5 star flavor in a fast casual atmosphere! I'm kicking myself that this fantastic family owned place hadn't been on my radar in all the time they've been open (25+ years). I should always adhere to my standing rule that if the reviews are wildly mixed, then I need to try it for myself to see what I think. Well, I took my own advice and dropped by a couple of times recently and boy, was I glad that I did. Now mind you, I spent High School and College in New Mexico. I know my Mexican food. There's SO many variations and this place does their Tex-Mex style with consistency and flavor. What a pleasant treat! I love the feel of this joint...relaxed and welcoming vibes...and that includes the fabulous staff...the owner running the counter even remembered me the second time I visited...they also have a great patio area to enjoy during warm weather. You order from the counter, they give you a tabletop number and bring your food to you as soon as it's ready...and it's always been in a very timely fashion no matter how busy they might be...I'd barely begun to work on my beer by the time the food arrived each time I've visited. I always order one of my favorite Mexican beers to complement my meal...Bohemia....great taste with the right amount of effervescence to offset the richness and spiciness of Mexican food. My dining companion always gets one of their handmade Margaritas...great balance of flavors with the right amount of salt on the rim. We've tried a number of items over the course of our visits...the standout for me is their Steak Ranchero Burrito ($11.50) [spicy, salsa-stewed steak]. I get it Enchilada Style ($1.50) [with salsa and cheese melted on top] The Burritos are served wrapped in a flour tortilla, with rice and your choice of beans on the side. I really enjoy the whole black beans...and the burrito is HUGE!!! Definitely plenty to satisfy my prodigious appetite...and the steak is really tender and seasoned beautifully... We've also had the Buenos Taco, Acapulco Shrimp Nachos and Coconut Crunchy Shrimp entrée, among other things and all the flavors and textures were on point. Their side sauces have great flavor, especially the extra spicy one...great heat and balance. My husband and I hadn't been here in years but yesterday was so nice we decided to take a stroll over to Mayberry landing from our house to enjoy dinner together. Buenos Grill place is exactly the same as we remembered, a cheerful interior and friendly service. We like that they have outside tables, too. I ended up getting the Del Mar, a spice-rubbed fish burrito with sour cream chili sauce. To me, the fish tasted like cajun blackened fish but it was tasty! I had it enchilada style, with sauce and melted cheese on top. They asked me if I wanted green or red sauce and I asked if I could have a little of both. The food here is really more "gringo" than authentic Mexican food (offering things like Coconut Crunch Tofu) but that's ok. We enjoy it and will come back again soon. read more

I had heard this place has some vegan options, so today decided to try it out. We lucked out cause of the snow as it was not busy at all when we arrived. The parking lot is not very big so it was nice for it to be a slow day. Walking in I noticed how big and roomy it seemed and all the decor was very uplifting. The woman at the counter was very friendly and helpful and told me about the vegan challenge menu items and mentioned one she was working on for the next vegan challenge taco. I decided on the baja caulif taco and my friend ordered a shrimp burrito. Our wait was not too bad and the food was very freshly cooked. Their specialty here is seafood burritos and tacos. Some friends of mine have had chicken items and they said the dishes weren't as good as other establishments. I have always ordered a fish burrito or tacos. My favorite is the Del Mar taco: Blackened salmon, cabbage, and sour cream chili sauce on oversized corn tortillas. So good! I will recommend sitting at the tables outside rather than inside, the kitchen exhaust is not quite up to the task and in the past I have left with my clothes smelling of food. This restaurant may agree with some people but no bueno for me. The choices for meats were pretty boring, it was either shrimp, beef or white meat chicken, even their salsas couldn't savage that. I was staring at the menu to try and figure out what was interesting, the closest I got was chicken enchiladas, I would have hoped for pork(carnitas) or asada. The restaurant is in a beautiful location and the picturesque drive to get there didn't make up for the boring menu food choices. My husband pointed out while driving and was like, "I used to go Buenos Grill, they had the best fish tacos." so after our daughter's photoshoot we went here for lunch and came where it wasn't crowded at all. Ordering was quick and food came out quick. I was pleased by that of course. Our kiddos shared a kid's cheese quesadilla, my husband got a buenos burrito (consist of fish, rice, beans and mango), and I got the three street tacos steak style. I asked my husband how he feels about this place after a couple of years of not eating here and I definitely agreed with him, everything was ok. We felt that their chips and salsa wasn't all that great, the definitely needed a bigger container and to not have their pico de gallo watery. I will only speak for what I ate, my street tacos was alright. The meat was a little chewy and dry. Overall, fulfilled my hunger and loved how they put the right amount. Courteous, professional and friendly. The food was really good. I thought two Acapulco tacos might not be enough, but they were almost too much. The Buenos Breeze was perfect for a hot day. This review is based on the recent take-out food only; the experience and observations came from my husband and son, who went to pick it up. I kept seeing the signage from McCarran, but never tried it until now. We try to do one take-out dinner a week, to support local restaurants, and to give myself a break from cooking. So this week's "Let's find a new restaurant" effort went to Buenos Grill. I love Mexican, but often it leaves me too full and heavy, and guilty. Well, none of that with Buenos. It's a lighter "Baja" style, and my taco salad was great. Light, but flavorful, and the shredded carrots and beets!? Delicious. Guilt-free. The taco bowl was crisp and light, not soggy. The chunky and fresh lettuce, instead of shredded, added to the fresh feel. The shrimps are perfectly cooked and succulent. Husband and son had two different kinds of burritos, and they were very happy too. My husband is always early showing up for anything, and it was the case this time too. The restaurant was busy, and they hadn't even started with our order. The owner was very apologetic (which isn't their fault at all), and also had to call in an extra help. My husband said that the owner was very appreciative to the staff who came in to help, and to us, how the business treats the workers matters a lot. I found this restaurant from a vegan and vegetarian app similar to Yelp named Happy Cow. I really wanted to love this restaurant but it was not my favorite. I had heard that the veggie fajitas were really good, but unfortunately they have mushrooms which I hate. The veggies are already mixed, so I decided to get the vegan enchiladas instead. These are stuffed with black beans and sweet potatoes. The filling was ok and the enchilada sauce was a little too smoky for my tastes. I ate it. The rice and pinto beans on the side were kind of bland. I think the chips are from a bag and the salsas are missing something as well. The guac was good and definitely made in store. Despite my complaints, fellow vegans might find this a good place to try. They had plenty of vegan options, including tofu and a few battered tacos - mushrooms, avocados, and cauliflower. I kind of wish I had tried the avocado taco too. I do really appreciate the many vegan choices and the effort the restaurant put into being vegan friendly. My daughter got a chicken burrito and said it was okay as well. The workers were super friendly and thanked us for patronizing. Not sure that either of us would choose to go here again, but it was not terrible. The Baja fish tacos are YUM! My husband and I have been grabbing them every other week or so and they taste just as yummy as the time before. The coleslaw on top is a perfect addition to the fried fish. The tacos are quite large and come with chips. I typically order one taco and my husband two.
