Brought friends who had never been to Carlillos and we had the best lunch. Our friends loved the place and the amazing food! They remarked that it was fun to sit at the counter and watch all of the cooking action. The food that is prepared in front of us makes me want to try so many more things on the menu, instead of always just getting my favorites. All of it looks so delicious as it's freshly prepared! We'll be back soon.

This place is amazing. Best chilaquiles and breakfast burrito I've had, ( and I've tried hundreds) This Resturant is a must have Great service

Breakfast of champions at this local Mexican joint. I had the enchilada breakfast and my companion had the huevos rancheros. My enchilada with an egg was way better than his dish. I chose Al pastor meat and there were pineapple chunks in my meat. Yumm! Additionally they had plenty of veggies on the plate which is refreshing as most places only have proteins and starch. Seating is diner style. Service was good and attentive. Parking lot is very small so that might be challenging. Definitely a value place if you are looking for a filling meal. Note- this was on a Yelp Best Places to eat list by state and this place was noted for Nevada. I say it was a very solid choice for breakfast!

Carlillo's Cocina is one of Reno's true hidden gems a breakfast and lunch spot that never misses. It's been a long-time staple in the area, and those who know, know. The atmosphere is always lively and full of energy, especially if you're lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar where you can watch the organized chaos of the tiny kitchen it's impressive to see. The food is outstanding across the board, but my go to is the carne asada burrito. Everything is made fresh, full of flavor, and served with genuine hospitality that keeps you coming back time and time again. Carlillo's Cocina is the kind of place that makes Reno feel like home. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, you'll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

Just good food getting cooked with smiles.

Great food. Great people. This small kitchen had the feel of a friends house. The staff was welcoming and seemed to know the names of many of the patrons. I am from out of state and was greeted with a smile. Now the food. The best. We tried to go back the next day even. But they are closed on Sunday. Out of the three nights and two days we were in the area. We wanted to eat there twice. That should tell you how good the food and the staff was.

Where do I start! This joint has the old school mexican village vibe. From the authentic food to the Spanish speaking cooks. Always love the service here and the food is amazing! Too many great items to choose a favorite. Don't sleep on this one folks.

Best breakfast in Reno / Sparks. They will make your meal to suit your tastes, just ask. This local family loves to make diners feel at home. This is where amazing service meets amazing food. Yes the parking lot is small and seating is up close and personal, but that is all part of the experience.

Stopped by this little diner after a relaxing morning at the annual hot air balloon race in Reno. When you walk in, you are met with a fast-paced diner atmosphere and very limited seating. Every seat was full, but we were given menus right away and told to wait until one opened up. Within about ten minutes we were seated and served refreshments. The menu is surprisingly large with plenty of meats and dishes to choose from. We decided on the chorizo plate and the meat lovers plate, which included every meat on the menu. The food came out in around ten minutes, though it hardly felt like a wait because it was so fun to watch the kitchen. The team moved with such rhythm and efficiency, almost like a dance, with no wasted motion. Our meals arrived on piping hot plates, and we dug in. What stood out most was how clean and light everything tasted. From the pictures you might expect something heavy, but the meal left us satisfied without feeling weighed down. If anything, I wished for bolder flavors, but that is my only critique. Overall, this diner feels like a go-to spot for locals looking for a quick and affordable meal.

When I pulled into the parking lot right off I-80 to go to this tiny restaurant, I got the side-eye from my spouse. But once we got inside and sat down, he was wide-eyed with delight. The interior is basically a kitchen with a wrap-around counter. There is barely enough room for the crew to move past each other. But, wow, do they cook! They're only open for breakfast and lunch and (as you might guess) seating is limited. There are a ton of locals who, clearly, go here every day. "I come 6 days a week," said the grizzled truck driver sitting next to me. "I almost always get the same thing -- and I have it for breakfast and the leftover for lunch. I love it." BTW, I asked what his go-to breakfast was. It's the off-menu "Joe's Special" -- a chicken enchilada topped with a Chile relleno. So what did I choose? I got the Chile relleno and eggs, which came with refried beans and potatoes. I could have had rice instead of the potatoes but, hey, it's breakfast. My spouse chose the chorizo and eggs which he proclaimed had the perfect amount of heat when he combined all the elements on the plate. Plus, brewed iced tea. If I lived in the area, I'd be joining that crowd of locals. But will I be back when I'm in town? You bet.

Quaint little divey breakfast and lunch counter. This place's is cool but there's not many seats so it can be "busy." I went by myself on a Saturday morning and there were three seats available when I sat. 4-5 Mexican guys are working like busy bees calling out orders, creating platters in a tiny little kitchen prep area. They don't with ease. The food came out at the expected amount of time. I had the asada breakfast burrito. It came with choice of potatoes or rice and beans. I opted for the latter. Food was tasty and I truly enjoyed the rice and beans. I'm planning on coming back here but will likely try a dish with fried eggs next time. You'll like this place! Go try it!!

Welcome to the neighborhood, glad you are here, come, sit and enjoy. You're at Carillos Mexican Cocina sharing traditions through food. Whether you speak Spanish, English, Spanglish or something else, the love language of food...welcomes you. Monday through Saturday this small inviting restaurant bustling with conversation, an orchestrated symphony of persons and cookware alone with the quintessential smells of home is open until 2. It doesn't matter where you call home, this place is open arms to all who enters its doors. Note this place is Extremely small! I think less than 30 seats along an old fashioned diner bar with worn padded stools. Give it a minute, someone will be leaving to the sounds "adios mi amigo!" Aka goodbye my friend. Once you eat here, you are a friend for ever. No matter what you order, the earthy flavors, the warmth of the spices allow you to feel as though you have traveled to a place not your usual but to a destination close to home. The menu is a guideline. If you see something that catches your eye but you just have to have a poached egg, just ask. Don't be discouraged by the outside or the lack of parking. Drive around, step inside and truly enjoy. It's worth the effort.

5 stars all around for Food, Service and Price. Hole in the wall but clean and inviting. Where can you get tacos with tons of carne and fresh vegetables for $3? Dishes are huge for the big eaters! We r light eaters so we learned to order the a la cart menus.

Yes, they are open for take out and have very limited space for dine in with social distancing.

    Are there vegan friendly options?

They have wonderful chile rellenos! That's what I had along with rice, beans, and a salad. This place will accommodate anything you wish them to make. We were told, you think it up, we'll make it for you. Awesome!

    Can you order to go?

Yes. It is a substantial part of their business.

Is there a corkage fee if you BYO Fritos Scoops?

Pretty sure there is not one, though you might be forced to share the Frito scoops with the surrounding patrons :)

What us your favorite dish at Carlillos?

    Everything. Bring an appetite.

Do they serve real breakfast, all reviews refer to brunch dishes?

They specialize in Mexican style breakfast, but I am sure they would be more than happy to serve up just some simple eggs and bacon if that's what you prefer!

Just this past weekend I had a chance to visit Los Altos and it did not disappoint. The ambiance felt vaguely familiar, similar to another breakfast spot closer in town, but regardless I was hungry. The wait was about 15 minutes for a party of two. We waited inside what appeared to be a busy Saturday morning with families coming in to get their fix. I'm feeling sweet and savory today. A Tres Leches French toast combo with bacon, scrambled eggs and country style potatoes. Fritzie W. loves her eggs benedict. Almost any flavor, any style, covered in a salsa de verde for her Los Altos bene. Man, the flavors. The French toast was delicious, the tres leches sauce, wasn't too sweet, but just enough to let you know it means business. So good. You can't go wrong with eggs, bacon and potatoes. Fritzie's let me try her Benedict it was really good, prepared right--flavorful, savory. Nothing prepared was overdone, the servings were satisfying and our waitress was kind and accommodating along with the manager that shift having visited our table briefly to see how we were enjoying our meal. Well, they won't be pulling this review, unless they want to break federal law as my disclaimer at the end will explain. I love the decorations, and all of the different alien stuff, and just random decorum that actually works for this place. People can also sign their name and put stickers on the wall! Anyhow, I've been coming to these for years. The one in Carson City also. I've actually been interested in buying into one of these franchises, because everyone that I've been to have been super successful, but its a cool $¼M just to get started. They have a good diverse menu, and they have mimosas by the pitcher. Of all the times I've been to these, I've only had a subpar meal one time, and that was a few times ago when I ordered the chorizo Benedict. I think they were training a new cook, but the eggs were way overcooked, but they were happy to bring me better eggs. This particular visit, Tony was my server. He is excellent! I'm pretty sure that he's waited on us somewhere down the line, but super on top of things, super happy, just a really good dude, so ask to sit with him if you want top notch service! This visit, I ordered the traditional Benedict. I'm an eggs Benedict FIEND, and every time I come here I always say I'm going to order something different, but I generally don't. I do on occasion, but this bene I ordered yesterday was ON POINT! Large eggs, poached perfectly, perfect hash browns, creamy rich hollandaise sauce, and I even ordered a side of biscuits and gravy, which were perfect. Haley brought our food to us out of the kitchen, she was super nice and told us we could rely on her if we needed anything special! Squeeze in is always pretty much a guaranteed home run. Sometimes the wait times are crazy, which is a good thing, but you can always check in online. I checked in online before I left the house yesterday, had about an 8 minute drive, and was seated within 3 minutes of getting there. But other times, I've checked in 20 minutes before arrival, and still had to wait 10 or 20 minutes. Regardless, to me it's worth the wait. Thanks squeeze in, thanks Tony, thanks Haley, we'll be seeing you again soon! To Yelp: I don't work here. I don't own this place. I'm not a shareholder. I'm not affiliated with this business other than being a faithful paying customer. Once we were seated, we got our drink orders in and the server came to greet us. They had a lot on the menu so it took a bit to look through everything. I got the pancake combo and it was good. They gave me scrambled eggs instead of over medium eggs, and the server was quick to get the kitchen to make the correct eggs. I would love to try other items on the menu because it all looks really good. The atmosphere was decorated for Christmas, and there was a mural on the wall. I first heard about it when Esquire magazine proclaimed it to be the best breakfast in America. To quote the writer: "served in a skillet the diameter of a small umbrella". Obviously, there is a soft spot in my heart and nostalgia about that location, but due to it's smaller size and popularity, we decided to drive over to Sparks and check out this other Peg's (they have 5 locations now in total in the Reno metro area). Placed in the strip mall with ample parking, Sparks location is much bigger than the OG Sierra St., but not less busy. We probably got lucky , since they had two open tables, and were seated right away. A minute later, there was already a wait list. When it comes to Peg's I always order the same thing-Huevos Rancheros skillet with the side of bacon. If I was not super-hungry, this meal might have been enough for 2 and comes with all the fixings: hash browns, coleslaw, beans, pico, and a slice of fruit. Esquire article still holds true after all these years: Peg's might still be the best breakfast in the country. Add that coffee is always piping hot and refilled quickly, service quick and efficient, and it's hard to chose another place for breakfast in Northern Nevada. The only thing that could make it better is is to have a bloody mart to pair with the skillet, but there are plenty places nearby for that. Needles to say...until next time.

Please try Jacks for friendly service, attentive staff and a great place for great food and hospitality!! Has been 46 minutes, my food has been delivered. I have been offered dessert and containers to take my leftovers home, it's great to feel like a customer who is appreciated, valued, and cared for! To squeeze in, I won't be going back to your location, but the other three here in Reno area are amazing and really disappointing me but Jack's made it all better for me today as I made it through over 2 hours of needing something to eat, they took care of me here at Jack's and now my blood sugar levels are where whether they're supposed to be! Go dine out, where someone cares ! thank you so much Jacks!!

I had the Denver omelet and was unfortunately disappointed. The bell pepper (which included green…read moreonly) was raw-- like not just underdone, raw, raw. The cheese wasn't fully melted (and there was a ton of it in addition to the generous amount on top). The omelet was very oily inside, and quality control wasn't there as I found 1.) a random cilantro leaf inside and 2.) a spot of some brown goop that I'm hoping was just pan fond from possibly using a pan that was previously used to cook something else (like fajitas possibly?).... My toast was also not up to par. The wheat bread was dry and a bit brittle and the toast wasn't warm. The butter (or butter substitute?) had not melted in and was just sitting on top like a paste. Our food came out at different times too so I'd recommend if you are there with a group not doing the typical wait-for-everyone's-food-to-arrive-before-eating type of thing. The service felt mixed. Several different people came by often enough (to check for coffee refills, etc.) but some were not warm and did not greet us with a smile. That didn't feel very welcoming. The ambiance isn't impressive. The outside signage doesn't look very good just thrown on top of some older beat up golden arches, but at least the inside looked like it was flipped. I did like that the tables felt spaced out enough that I didn't feel like a server could risk bumping into me with a tray like I have felt at some busier restaurants where the tables are more tight. And random, but I did notice some Hawaiian music was playing as we entered through the set of double doors (perhaps a nod to the previous restaurant?). Overall I might give Jacks a chance again as it seemed to be a standard breakfast place (and I liked that there was no wait for our party of 6 on a Friday morning during spring break) but I will not be ordering a omelet again.

I think this has officially become my new favorite breakfast spot and bakery. I had previously…read moretried their baked goods which I absolutely loved, but had never dined in for breakfast or lunch until now, and I'm so glad I did. We ordered a mix of items for the table: the lobster eggs Benedict, the chorizo omelet, and a panini (two breakfast dishes and one lunch option), and every single bite was delicious. There honestly wasn't one thing I didn't enjoy. It's a little tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area, but they do have plenty of parking, which makes it easier once you get there. The staff was friendly, kind, and incredibly accommodating. We came in with a large group of eight, and while it's typically a self-seating setup, they went out of their way to help us find a table that could fit everyone and made the whole experience seamless. I would absolutely recommend stopping by for breakfast or lunch and definitely don't skip the baked goods after.

We had been looking for a new place to try for brunch and Josef's on Plumb was suggested to us by a…read morefriend, who joined us for a mid-morning Sunday brunch. We sat ourselves per their request, with lots of options for seating (high and low 2-tops, low 4- to 6-tops, and patio seating), and were brought some menus shortly thereafter. We requested some waters and asked the server about some of the menu items, which she was incredibly helpful with. We put in our drink orders and finally decided on some food items to order (lots of great breakfast and lunch options to choose from), which our food order was take by a different server. Our food and drinks were brought out by separate food/drink runners while our server(s) were helping with other tables. The food and drinks were delicious! We had some vanilla lattes, a breve latte, and tried the green apple mimosa, made with fresh squeezed green apple juice - a unique and refreshing option for a mimosa! The mixed berry crepes were large and filled with berries and whipped cream. The smoked salmon Benedict was incredibly flavorful with the charred asparagus, sautéed spinach, poached eggs, hollandaise, balsamic drizzle, and capers atop brioche bread. The waffles were quite simple but still yummy. Unfortunately, our server(s) did not come back to check on us and we had to flag someone down for more water and for our check after our plates had been cleared for quite some time. This was the only downside we experienced on this visit, but look forward to coming back with hopefully more attentive service.
