I have been eating at Speedy since 2006, so in celebration of them feeding me for 20 years I will again bestow a 5-star review on them. They have certainly earned it. Located in the swanky Wells Business District, they were here WAY before it was cool. Like the neighborhood, they have gone from a dumpy taco place to a clean restaurant with patio seating. There is a salsa bar, about 10 tables inside, a full selection of Latin Cuisine, beer and very good breakfast burritos. They are not open late or on Sunday. Went and brought a friend with me since she had never been here before... she got a chicken quesadilla.... Which I didn't take a picture of, but she stated that it wasn't spicy and that she enjoyed it. I got the chile relleno and tamale combo plate with a side of homemade corn tortillas.... I could just eat the tortillas with the delicious mild salsa. Staff are friendly. I do think I was charged extra for a drink but I didn't notice till I got home later, since there was 3 drinks charged and we only had 1 Jamaica and one can of Pepsi. Place is small for setting area. Very long wait on a Saturday night at 5:30pm despite being called "Speedy Burrito", waited ~20 min for takeout. Restaurant was pretty busy, so allocate more time if you're visiting on weekends. There are indoor seatings if you want to dine in. Burrito was HUGE but they didn't wrap it properly, so it fell apart when we took it home. They have option to make burrito XL, and they do increase amount of protein. Lots of options. Without a doubt, the best Mexican cuisine I have ever eaten and I've lived in Mexico. Unassuming from the outside, bordering on dumpy, but once inside you can just smell the deliciousness. First time here and it was good. Great options including breakfast items. I ordered the California burrito. Closest thing I've had in a while to the ones I've had in SoCal. Flavor was delicious. Staff were great and friendly. The interior was nice, but definitely tight in terms of seating. I can imagine around lunch it must get super busy and crowded. Did a pickup order for a ground beef burrito (added guacamole, which costs more but it's worth it). The burrito was one of the best I've had. It wasn't dry, it wasn't lacking anything and everything tasted as it should. It wasn't as warm as I'd like, but that's not the restaurant's fault....i ordered it before I left work and got held up leaving work and then hit a lot of traffic, so that's the reason, but despite that it tasted great! The irony of Speedy Burritos is they aren't known to be very speedy, it is typical for your order to take 15-20 minutes regardless if ordered in person or online through the website, but the thing is no one cares because of how amazing the food is and the portions given. I ordered a carne asada burrito for lunch to celebrate National Burrito Day and it was thicker than my arm and weighed about a pound packed full. All the ingredients are so fresh, delicious, and are paired so well. They are very reasonably priced in this day and age as the burrito and Coke came in at about $15 and given how big the burritos are they could honestly charge more and get away with it. Don't forget to stop by the salsa bar to get your sauces. They are all made fresh regularly and are delicious, my favorite is grabbing some extra jalapenos and pairing them with the green sauce. Thanks to Yelp, we found it. They have a great menu with lots of choices. I ordered the griddled taco combo plate of one chicken taco and one beef taco. Both had great flavors, along with the beans and rice. (I'm wondering if they have ground beef tacos as those are my favorite. I forgot to ask when I ordered the beef taco and I got a shredded one. Super tasty and savory and juicy stewed chicken. Took the recommendation of the girl at the register and got mixed red and green sauce...perfect spicy level and so delicious. My husband is a huge burrito fan, so we had to come try Speedy Burritos! He especially loves breakfast burritos so we were happy to see you can order them all day here. It's a hole-in-the-wall place on Wells that has very authentic Mexican food. We both got breakfast burritos, mine was regular size for $8 and my husband got a large for $10. These burritos were both huge, we could only eat about half of it in one sitting! The menu says the breakfast burritos come with eggs, potatoes, cheese, beans, and choice of meat. I got mine with bacon and my husband got his with chorizo. We both thought they tasted great! They were packed full of ingredients and the flavor was delightful. My husband wasn't a fan of having beans in his breakfast burrito and will ask for it without beans next time. They have a salsa bar so you can pick which salsas you want and how much which we loved.
