Michael's Deli is not a "sandwich shop". It's an institution. For as long as I've been in Reno this place has been here serving the neighborhood with great food, wonderful quick service, friendly faces and amazing prices. The building is owned by a long-standing local family dating back to the 19th century, not some private equity firm. They stand for Reno and serve the community well. Breakfast is served until 10:30 am, which I don't think many people realize. In a time where so many businesses are held hostage by high rents and disinterested landlords, this place is a welcome oasis that reminds you of what this town is all about. I highly recommend you stop by and have a bite.

Everything I have had here is good! This time we had a Mandarin Chicken Salad and Caprese Salad. The Caprese Salad was delicious! A generous serving of tomato and mozzarella cheese. I devoured the entire thing. The report about the Mandarin Chicken Salad was equally enthusiastic. The sandwiches we have had there in the past were also delicious. If you are looking for a nice deli to have lunch at this is one to check out.

The hype is real. Two of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Generous portions of meat, nice bread and fresh veggies. The Chepe (Roast beef, blue cheese, garlic aioli and roasted peppers) was the thing dreams are made of. The staff were all wonderful and the decor of the restaurant gave it a no frills locals vibe that I appreciated. If you are in Reno for lunch give this place a try.

They have the best salads I have ever had and so fulfilling. It does get busy during the lunch rush you can call ahead or order there the wait is not long for your food. They have multiple people working to get the orders out. It's small place not much room for seating l.

Such a cute and nostalgic spot. Tons of seating, welcoming atmosphere and the staff is great. Parking can be tricky, but there are street parking and about a block away is a small one way lot. The triple decker hot corn beef and pastrami sandwich was great! Fully loaded with meat and flavor. 10/10 recommend. The Chicken salad sandwich was just ok. Nothing stood out. It was missing my swiss and the bread got really soggy quickly. I wouldn't order this sandwich again. But that's ok, because the triple decker made up for it. We also ordered the sweet passion salad. That is an immediate YES! So yummy! The coconut, fruit and chicken were so delicious. I would order that salad a 100 times again.

Okay when someone suggested Michael's Deli I was like: where when and how? The interior was so homey and very sporty of various sports. You could chill the day away there, enjoy the pictures and the staff. The samich was yummy. Yes I called it samich, it was beautiful, to see all that green, the softness of the bread and no drowning of the mayo. It was such a delightful balance. I could probably eat 3 of those and not be full. Next time I'm trying that cauliflower soup for sure. I'll be coming back again soon!

What a lovely, authentic spot! We had just landed in Reno after an early flight and we were walking downtown looking for something to eat and Michael's Deli caught our eye and I'm so glad it did! Both of our sandwiches were so flavourful and the staff were super friendly. Each sandwich is clearly made with fresh ingredients too - my eyes were watering at the end of our stay from the staff cutting onions haha. This place is a gem!

LOVED Michael's Deli! Sandwiches are the perfect size - the French Dutch bread is perfect. I got the TAB sandwich and it was so tasty, perfectly balanced. I truly loved it! We also had the Jalapeño Soup - which was creamy and so comforting for the winter months. This was phenomenal - I'd get this again every time. The apple chicken salad was MASSIVE and so so tasty. Such a great value. Everything here is such a great value. Truly one of my favorite spots in Reno - I can not wait to come back!

I recommend. (fyi: there are 6 military branches)

Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier. --Mother Teresa We left happier than we arrived. Young cousins who live in MidTown Reno had contacted us to rave about Michael's Deli & Catering, so off they took us for a try out. I so love it when a business does everything so well that I'm able to write a High Five-star review. Here's a nifty oasis of sensory pleasure. Service staff graciously answered all our questions promptly which made a good first impression. We opted for the Daily Specials. Did what they're in business to do Has a user-friendly menu, average prices, food that enriches life, a happy selection of choices, and fresh ingredients. Truth is the highest virtue, but higher still is truthful living. --Sikh Guru Nanak. This business: Charged the prices posted. Delivered what they advertise. Place was clean and organized. Ambiance was welcoming. No one here offered to commit fraud to reward us, pay us or compensate us for posting 5 star reviews of this business. I rate 'em a 3 stars aka A-OK, which is NOT a negative review.. A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference. -- Eeyore Customer service was above-average earning 'em another review star for going beyond with: 1) It was refreshing to see that although they were busy none of the staff was surly with customers. 2) Are a Veteran-Friendly business accommodating to we disabled Veterans for our Special-Needs due to our military service connected disabled disabilities. 3) I was in Happiness-Is-Homemade high alert so after eating so I walked around checking out everything. An employee spotted it, walked over, introduced them self, offered to answer any questions I might have about their vast wall decorations. Owners of this business like their Freedom, have taken the pledge To Leave No Veteran Behind with a Military and Veterans Discount as a thank you to Veterans with a publicly disclosed daily Veteran Discount which provides resource to ensure Veterans (rare 7% of the population) and GIs (rare one-half of one percent of the population) opportunity to participate in American Dream Veterans and GIs' sacrifices have made possible for 100% of the population. That earned 'em another review star for going beyond what they're in in business to do. I'll be back. Good sandwiches and meats. Lots of healthy options. Their staff are incredibly good at their jobs and are really good with customers. Their salads are a little bland because they all have Romaine lettuce but aside from that the place has a great environment.

    Prosciutto Panini
    Shelby R.

This was admittedly, the first time I've been to Michael's deli, even though I've passed it by it so many times throughout the years I got their prosciutto Panini and it was delicious. A great blend of prosciutto cheese pepper Cheaneys all warmed up on a flatbread. Also have the veggie pasta salad, which was very balanced filling but light. This was a great lunch to get without feeling like I broke the bank or was in a food, and could return to work. I will have to try their soup one day.

Chicken BLT croissant and Pete's sandwich.
    Adria D.

I got the BLT on a croissant . My husband got the Pete's sandwich. My daughter got her favorite sandwich and I don't know what it was called. The restaurant was clean and servers were nice and prompt. I loved my sandwich and chips. They have secret parking in the back.

    The line
    Robin A.

The food is really good and it's usually always a line. Even though they are busy the employees are not rude at all. Very nice very patient. It was my first time there and I let people go ahead of me to order because I was unsure. I ended up choosing a gyro beef sandwich. It definitely hit the spot! There is mostly street parking available. This place is located in midtown so you already know the parking is scary. But luckily there is available parking in the back of the building. You have to drive thru a ally to get to it. I reccomend checking this place out. I feel like it's easy to miss. But once your inside, it is something to remember

We've had it three times: twice used with Uber Eats and tonight the partner picked it up on the way home. Twice we ordered two sandwich. Always one fancy sandwich and always a fairly plain sandwich (turkey, mayo, lettuce, pickle). Some of us have reasons to pay for all the toppings but not use and waste them. Every single uber drop off was wrong. And always the easy sandwich. Things you cannot take off. Partner pays and never complains because he is happy. He can tell me, bummer, then eat mine day 2. Tonight, he picked it up. I added just ham to this. I didn't ask for club, not for Bobbie, just plain small sandwich with only turkey, ham, mayo, and this time to maybe be sure they know it's a plain sandwich, the lettuce and pickles on the side. He got to eat his sandwich, for the 3rd time, I got an inedible sandwich. You cannot take off oil, salt, pepper... I'm not complaining lettuce was on the sandwich (since that was just in hopes to get it done in a way I can eat). The pickles were on the side. I'm giving a star for that, thanks. Opened the sandwich. Looking forward to it, and once again, can't eat because of the extra added. Because my partner was there and should have stopped the sandwich makers (assuming you watch them make it), I'm taking off no stars and blaming him. But third time is a charm. Tip: if you can eat everything, go for it. Smells pretty good. But go get it. Make sure it's right, don't leave to anyone, the business, or the delivery to get what you want. PS. We have NEVER asked for money or sandwich back, but again, the person who gets to eat doesn't realize the business should know this is happening or they can't fix it. Just can't figure out why a simple sandwich can't easily be made. Makes no sense.
