Their lemon, chicken, and rice soup also seems to be missing something. --It could use some other ingredients aside from the rice in it. Their chicken is slightly on the dry side for their entrees. Best Gyro in Northern Nevada by far! I grew up in Chicagoland with many gyro shops and all the diners were Greek owned. When I moved out here I was bummed to not find anything similar to what I grew up with. Looks like I just needed to explore Sparks a little more! This family restaurant has been around for a long time. They have affordable prices. The decor is very Greek and reminds me of the shops back home. I dined in. They do have a waitress. I was surprised to see every table full when I walked in. That's a sign of a good locals lunch spot! The food came quickly. YUM! I stopped in for a quick takeout lunch and was so impressed. Clearly this place has a rich family history and they take real pride in their food and the restaurant. Watching regular customers come in and get a hug from the host was so special. The food was DELICIOUS. Just the right amount of tzatziki, fresh raw onion and tomato, juicy and slightly crispy lamb on a fluffy toasted pita. The Dolmathes are served warm with feta and onion. So so delicious. Really cute restaurant located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. Very friendly service and loved their menu. We had the Greek salad, lemon chicken plate and chicken skewer plate. The portions were huge and a great value for the money. In fact, Gayle and I split one of the salads at our friend's house, and saved the second salad for dinner together. Best gyros in town and I love that it is such a family business. Definitely feels like a hole in the wall. My husband and I aren't huge Greek food people but once in a while when we get the itch, this is where we go. I get the chicken gyro and the chicken is always tender. The flat bread is always soft and fresh. The sauce which I am assuming is homemade is so delicious. The veggies always crispy. It's Greek fast food. Very limited menu. No rice. 8 tables inside with a couple more out. I'm thinking they are primarily a busy carry out. They are definitely a busy Sunday afternoon-dine in. Our server was pleasant and professional. Again, very busy. We did manage a table with little waiting. For $35, two large iced teas, fries and two gyros. One chicken, one beef/lamb. Much better than the starbucks in the hotel/casino last night. The chicken was a bit dry without much flavour. The tomatoes were fresh and their Greek yogurt sauce was very mild. They don't add too much lemon like many tend to. So you won't find the common bitter taste in this sauce. The best news is that they slice the gyro meat off a Doner kabob. Even though it's processed and packaged elsewhere, it's a much better alternative to other Greek joints. This one was too salty, but livable. Another problem is they sliced a large amount off all at once. It sits in a pan getting cold and the last gyro made has cold meat. In other words, mine. The portion sizes made up for that. Huge. Well worth the $9.00. Under different circumstances I would've filled up on half and carried-out the remainder. The only item the Mrs and I differed on were the drinks. The food here is authentic, home l-cooked style. Tastes amazing. Really love the grilled potatoes that came with the lemon chicken. We also tried a mixed gyro, fries dish called "Downtown....?", our kid loved the chicken. Small cafe area so it can get busy during peak times. Was craving some Greek food for lunch and found this little gem at the Sparks Crossing plaza. Upon entering, you'll realize it's not a big place. It's small and there are a lot of photographs of the owner in Greece. The place itself besides the pictures on the walls are a bit run down but don't let that fool you because the food was delicious! My first time here and I'm betting, based on my Veggie Gyro with hummus that the food is 5 stars. If you are not picky about wanting them to customize...come check this place out! Unfortunately, the veggie gyro is mostly a salad on a bread thing topped with hummus and some nicely grilled zucchini. It's very delicious but I wanted more protein and when I asked what veggies were on a meat gyro she said only tomato and onion. I like veggies with a LITTLE meat so I asked if i could get the veggie with a little meat...or the meat gyro with only a little meat and extra veggies. Her answer was no. Cannot do it. I did not ask why because she seemed pretty adamant. I thought maybe everything is pre measured? But there was quite a bit of lettuce and some could have been left off. There was a meat thing in front of me that they could have sliced a bit off of to add to my veggie gyro. Both the meat and veggie gyro are the same price so I do not understand the problem. I even asked if she could just charge me extra to add a LITTLE meat and she said no. I guess they just do not like to customize anything. I'm disappointed. The hummus was delicious. The whole sandwich was delicious... but I'd have liked more protein. If I cannot get more protein AND lots of veggies I guess I'll never be happy here so for me that's a deal breaker. My husband and I like going to Niko's Greek Kitchen since it's a family owned restaurant. This little restaurant is next to Starbucks and very close to the Costco in Sparks. The vibe is very chill and lots of Greek pictures with a laid back atmosphere. The service that Isabella provided was fantastic. I seem to order something different every-time I visit this restaurant. Today we ordered a Mediterranean pizza, Spanakopita and a Chicken Gyro sandwich. The Mediterranean pizza is one of my favorites! It's loaded with spinach, feta, tomatoes and grilled onions. Such a treat! I don't feel so bad eating this comforting delicious pizza knowing that it's filled with healthy vegetables that melt in your mouth. We love Niko's and took our grandson for lunch when he came to Reno for Spring Break. We order the Beef & Lamb Gyro and French fries. The gyro is one of the best I've ever had, and I've had many. The French fries are so awesome we actually talk about them. The outsides are crunchy and the inside is like mashed potatoes. We share when we go, but we ordered a full gyro and order of fries for our 13 year old grandson and he polished them off in record time. Holy smokes! This place is awesome! I put in a to-go order for the beef/lamb gyro, fries and extra tzatziki sauce and after tip, I was just under $20.00. The wait time was also under 6 minutes, but this was also a late Sunday afternoon. I came home and was pleasantly surprised with the size of the gyro. It was so much food, that I was able to split this meal with my garbage disposal aka my husband. This was our second time at Niko's Greek kitchen. We were in the Sparks area running errands and Niko's was a perfect choice to have a quick dinner. We arrived about 5:30 and noticed that it got busier during the time we were there. There are lots of orders to go as well as diners eating in. This second visit was even better than the first time we were there. Isabella recognized us and that was a pleasant surprise. I ordered a cup of the (avgolemono) lemon soup and a plate of pita and hummus. The soup was hot, flavorful and had a bright taste of lemon...but not too much. It was delicious. The hummus plate was equally delightful because of the toasted pita and the hummus was excellently prepared and tasted wonderful! I would definitely order both of those items again. My hubby ordered a breakfast gyro. He especially liked the eggs that were inside which made it different from a regular gyro. He loved his choice. Isabella is a fantastic server. She is attentive, jovial and genuinely continuously working hard to give everyone the best dining experience and service. She was a pleasure, definitely admire her work ethic! The restaurant is small, comfortable, pleasant and clean. We will definitely return and make it one of our regular places to dine at because we love Mediterranean food.
