We went to the USA v Bosnia Herzegovina watch party at Reno Public Market, and we just had to try some Mediterranean food. What a treat! We had a falafel bowl, where the falafels were perfectly cooked. Slightly crunchy, flavorful and not greasy at all. They were served over a bed of rice, coleslaw and tzatziki sauce. Such a perfect combo! Crunchy, light and perfect for a hot summer night. The waffle fries were delicious. Cooked up perfectly. A sprinkling of feta made it better. The best part? The kataifi, which both my grandmother and mother used to make. It was as mouth-wateringly delectable as I remember. Not overly sweet. The slightly sticky crunch will live in my dreams forever. The salad was a nice balance but it consisted of over half with red cabbage as the ingredient in the salad, I know because I picked out all the red cabbage from the bowl. Little shop inside the RPM, serving Mediterranean (of course). Wasn't looking to break the bank for lunch so I got the babaganoush, something I make myself and never actually ordered at a restaurant. It's served with triangle cut pita that is warmed up. I found it quite good although they use more acid(not sure if lemon juice or vinegar) in their recipe than I do in mine. Mediterranean Bae is a good choice at the Reno Public Market and I've made this choice before. The lamb and beef gyro is fresh , tasty and a full meal without fries so I didn't get them. Plentiful meat and the tzatziki sauce with the fresh warm pita was worth visiting again. My wife chose a platter with hummus, falafel, stuffed grape leaves and tzatziki sauce. She loved it and as it is a large portion took about half home. As good as the food is the woman taking the orders should be more polite. I've been wanting to try their food for a while now. Played safe and ordered a falafel, and I also tried their dessert, too. They cook to order, and like the other locations at RPM, they give you device that beeps once your food is ready. So you can walk around and check put the other places while waiting on your food. One suggestion is to order ahead. They have their online menu, which also has EXTRA items on menu to choose from. The food was really delicious and well balanced. This place was very middle of the road for me. Falafel is frozen straight out of a bag so not made there but flavor was good enough. Tomato/cucumber salad didn't taste fresh and the waffle fries were warm and hard so obviously they were sitting under a heat lamp for some time. The baba ganoush was very tasty and my daughter loved the meat. Pita definitely not made in house either. New to Reno public market, so let's get this place a good shout out!!! Wild definitely recommend as a sit down option over take out, but let's get into the details: Shish kebab (beef) w/ falafel: 5/5 Would recommend if you like tzitziki, beer flavor was very well seasoned to pair with the rice and sauce! And the falafel had a great flavor as someone who loves Falafel. Great flavor profile for Reno public market as a sit down option. I'm sure they it would've been a 6/5 if we sat down to eat over take out. Chicken gyro: 5/5 Loved the gyro!!! Chicken overload with enough veggies to say "I'm still getting my greens in". The tzitziki sauce was a delicious add on to the waffle fries and gyro. If you like veggies there's a side of them too as a little salad so it was great! Meal sizes are definitely share worthy so be hungry when you're going to be sitting down to eat! I love they we have more options in RPM, I'm not vegetarian, or vegan, but it's good to see that we're having more options for people of different food preferences. I would only make these 2 recommendations for clientele and management. 1. Sit down over takeout. Fresh food is always better, but when you're wanting to get some food to go, it's always a challenge to get the best experience. However, you can taste the pride and culture with this food. For being a "fast food option" this is definitely a great option to be introduced to Mediterranean if you've never had. 2. Fries came back a little colder, I know this is a comment in previous sections I can agree with, but the tzitziki sauce could be to blame for that, so don't be so harsh on the tots. 3. Love this place! Great Mediterranean food! Even if the Fries are occasionally dry and possibly refried or occasionally just over fried. And the lady at the counter is always rude but it's still worth it! It's like she's the guardian of the good Mediterranean food , I'd still rather battle with her to get an order in here than go some where else in the food court where the customer service is better but the food isn't that good. We dropped by the Reno Public Market for lunch and tried the Mediterranean Bae; we ordered the Istanbul Doner: vertical rotisserie roasted beef over rice pilaf served with shepherd salad, a Mediterranean meatball, pita slices and tzatziki sauce. I think I found my first favorite place after trying so many different restaurants within Reno Public Market. I came here for the big Superbowl party, which I have to say was well organized with a huge screen, great crowd and fun themed drinks! Wow, what a phenomenal dish. The portions were generous to the point where there were plenty of leftovers. In writing this review, makes me want to go back already. Got to say that this was the biggest lamb gyro I've ever had. Couldn't eat it in one sitting although I really wanted to consider it tasted so good. Lot of meat and trimmings along with an amazing tzatziki sauce. They got the meals out to us in minutes which is definitely a plus. While the Reno Public Market doesn't have the greatest ambiance in the world, it is a fun place to have a quick meal with so many choices. My only beef was the French fries, they really weren't that good. Limp and pretty much flavorless. Still, I feel like this is a place we could go back again and try some of their other offerings.
