Falafel- delicious!
Breanne C.

My husband and I came here for a date night after searching which places in town had a vegetarian option with protein! They had a number of vegetarian options that looked yummy but I always appreciate the extra thought into making it have some protein. I had the falafel and it was very tasty. Lots of yummy elements. Hard to eat but I cut it all apart and dug in! Cozy ambiance and the service was friendly and attentive.

While the service was good and attentive and I like the atmosphere here. The pricing and the food do not justify a recommendation. I had the chicken and waffles the fried chicken was cooked ok but was like chicken strips and I was expecting to get a wing or a leg and a more flavorful breading. The brussel sprout side does not live up to what we are getting at gastro pubs these days they were not crispy and had a low quality balsamic drizzled. My partner got a burger which was not bad but over salted. The pricing doesn't make sense. I think the chicken and waffles was 33 and the burger 30 just over priced for what you're getting.

Korean tacos, Berrymore 75, Modelo, Enzo (pizza)
Maxwell H.

Homegrown Gastropub was the most overpriced meals i have ever had for sub par food. We ordered the Korean street tacos and the Enzo pizza. The tacos were delicious but the pizza was lack luster. Neither were worth their price. We were there for Valentine's so our service was not great, however i have no frame of reference for a standard night. As for the atmosphere, it was dark and grimey and the bathrooms were disgusting. If you feel like paying $17 for Brussels sprouts and a cramped atmosphere with sub par food, go to Homegrown.

I love Homegrown. It's always a vibe, with great service and an amazing menu. I first tried it a few years ago while visiting, but now I live here and can go whenever I want! I took my girlfriend here while we were in midtown today and I couldn't wait any longer to review their Korean Street tacos. Huge portion for the price, easy to share but OH MY LANTA - mouthwatering!

Birthday Celebration

We dinned here several nights ago to celebrate our friend's birthday. The service was amazing as was the restaurant's extensive offerings of organic produce, all natural, uncured, antibiotic/hormone-free meats & dairy, wild Alaskan seafood, local organic bread from Beloved's Bread, organic pasture raised eggs from Kool Kids Ranch, and their pizzas are made from imported Italian 00 Flour. It was hard to choose from the wonderful array of healthy options but although fully a carnivorous person, this evening a Vegetarian Portobello Mushroom Stack caught my eye and I tried that. It was wonderful! It featured Balsamic panko crusted organic portabella mushrooms, layered with natural goat cheese, organic quinoa and grilled zucchini, served over organic wilted swiss chard, roasted brussel sprouts and a house oven roasted tomato sauce. The evening was pricey but expected when you have so many clean, organic ingredients on the menu...! The interior has a really cool feel showcasing a classy copper accented ceiling with antique chandeliers. Located in the heart of downtown Reno, I would highly recommend this spot and will eat here again soon!

Lots of oil in the tacos!

I really want to love this place - the interior is so vibey and chill and the staff is always awesome. But for the price you pay, the size and quality of food really doesn't match up for me. Their desserts are my favorite thing and well worth it! The menu is large but some options are only available at certain times (breakfast, obviously, but I'm bummed the sandwiches aren't available later!) I previously enjoyed the korean pork tacos from their small plates menu, the flavors are great, but this time the meat wasn't drained well and it was so oily/greasy it pooled so much it ran off the plate onto the table... and of course down my chin, yum! My boyfriend ordered the crab cakes from the small plates, and while yes, SMALL plates, we were shocked they were so small for almost $30! They were about the circumference of a dipping sauce container. The flavor was nice but $30 for a couple bites hurts. The order of fries we split was pretty sizeable for $14 (owie) but they're the small skinny fries so they start to get soft when piled up in a cup.

Breakfast tacos

First time here, we went in the morning ordered huevos's rancheros, and the breakfast tacos. Food was amazing! Sat by the window it was cold! Service was a bit slow for that fact the we were the only ones in front we did notice a sign that says to check out the back so maybe the were busy back there. Bit over priced on drinks

Loved the ambiance, really pretty interior and super cozy! Definitely a great spot for a date night. The bar also looked really nice. As for the food, I was impressed that many items were sourced locally from places I like around town. Tried their Philly cheesesteak; it was good, but a bit oily.

Pepperoni pizza

Score: 3.5/5 Came in for dinner during the Dancing in the Streets block party. Was sat right away, service was quick and friendly. We were sat in the front section which had a nice ambiance and you couldn't really hear the noise and crowds outside which was nice. I ordered the mango margarita. I originally asked to make it on the rocks instead of blended but they couldn't due to being put of mango syrup, which is fine. It came out and tasted OK, but for $20 i was expecting more of a visual experience as well and something that tasted a little more elevated. Just felt like an overpriced ok mango margarita. The food however was quite tasty. To note though you cant ordered sandwiches after 5pm, which was a bummer for us. Overall, pretty good experience however the drink was a pit and i also felt items were a tad pricey for what we got, but thats just my opinion. But definitely a good option if in midtown.

Felafal was so delicious! Ate half.

Come by and check out Cruz! Bartender who has great recommendations. Good drinks, food and company! Highly recommend! Cute little place in midtown!

We walked into Homegrown Gastropub in Midtown Reno and were immediately charmed by the cozy, stylish vibe--copper ceilings, wood accents, and those gorgeous green velvet touches made it feel both trendy and welcoming. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. I mentioned I was chilly, and she immediately turned off the fan--such a thoughtful gesture that really stood out! I ordered the strawberry gimlet and the Gastropub Cobb salad. The salad was huge and packed with all my favorite toppings--so fresh and delicious. My husband got the crab cakes, and while I didn't get a bite (he didn't offer!), they smelled amazing and disappeared fast. Overall, it was exactly the kind of small, satisfying bite we were looking for. We'll definitely be back!

Mussels and clams

Homegrown gastropub in midtown Reno is THEE best all around place to eat. From the cool atmosphere, great music, fully stocked bar and breakfast, lunch and dinner menu what's not to love! I went for lunch today and had my favorite special menu delight the mussels and clams with a homemade crostini paired with my favorite cocktail the french Barrymore. Food 10/10 drink 10/10 and the customer service was great as well. I try to eat at homegrown at least once a week. If you haven't been yet you need to!

Warm, classy interior

Best brussels sprout appetizer I ever tasted. Fab pizza, hard cider, crème brûlée. Take your date, amazing!

It was such a beautiful day.... where can we eat outside?…read more I found "The Spot", its in the old Smee's location on the river. When we showed up, we asked if we could sit at a table outside, the guy was a little overwhelmed, he said "I can sit you in 10 mins". I said "can we have this table". OK, but....just know I'll be with you as soon as I get caught up, I'm totally fine with that I said. . He bought us a couple menus to look over. Then a table on the railing with shade opened up, I didn't care about the table was dirty with dishes, so we decided to move. I love to look at the river and watch the people go by. The server said, I'll be over soon! He was never so happy when Sierra showed up to help him out. He came over to our table I said "I hope you don't mind, I moved to be in the shade, I know I'm one of those pain in the ass customers". Then he started joking with me and it was the perfect ice breaker. My server and part owner's name is Casey! He is an awesome guy and such a hard worker to ensure his customers are taken care of. I love that. We had a couple beers, he has quite the selection of beers on tap, he supports the community breweries such as Lead Dog and Revisions. My husband had the breakfast burrito $13, it was huge with homemade tortilla chips with salad and guacamole. I had the fish and chips. You get three large pieces of fish, fries and yummy coleslaw. I love how they put the tater sauce and ketchups in personal cups for you that shows class. My fish was absolutely delicious better than the old Smees and especially the new location. You get a nice meal for $20. They have indoor, outdoor, bar seating. They have a little merch area and a gaming bar if you feel lucky. I know the Open Championship Bowlers are in town, if you're looking for nice comfort food "tavern style" location this is the place for you on the Reno Riverwalk 50 N Sierra. It upstairs.

We started with the PULL-APART GARLIC CHEESE BREAD which is Focaccia, mozzarella, marinara, parmesan, frico crust and also ordered the WOOD FIRED OCTOPUS with crispy gnocchi, tomatoes, red onion, basil, arugula and topped with a Calabrian chili aioli. Both were fantastic, seasoned nicely and cooked to a perfect temperature!! For our entree we hate the BEE STING pizza. Make with a 72 Hour Fermented Organic Dough topped with Salami, red onion, basil, serranos, mozzarella and honey. The crust was delicious, crunchy, thin and when combined with the sauce, seasoning and toppings, an excellent pizza. Additionally we ordered two of the in-house, housemaid pasta. The ARRABBIATA , a roasted red pepper campanelle, with Calabrese sausage, garlic, chilis, broccolini and topped with Parmesan, pecorino. The other pasta we tried was the BLACK SPAGHETTI, mixed with clams, scallops, shrimp, hot chopped peppers, white wine, butter and lemon. It was fantastic!! Cooked al dente and packed with flavor. Once we got the garlic bread, it took about 20-30 minutes before our server came back to take our actual food order, which slowed things down quite a bit. Outside of that, everything else was great. One helpful tip for anyone visiting: there's paid meter parking on the street, so make sure to put enough time on the meter just in case your visit takes a little longer than expected. I didn't know until after the meal that they had a whole back section that would have been a lot better of an experience for them. They have a lot of tables and room back there whereas the front is either a bar, one table, or more a a lounge set up. There is also a outdoor area, but it had been a bit windy and sprinkling throughout the day so that isn't an option. I've done the Frenchified burger and the chile burger. Both times i opted for the fries over the chips and feel like I need to try the chips. Burger comes with two patties, a great bun, than the rest is up to you on which you choose. The fries are what I would consider shoe string fries, but maybe slightly thicker. I'm usually not a fan of shoestring fries, but I polished them off easily both times. My parents and aunt are harder to please. They like ingredients that speak for themselves and don't like too much sauces. All 3 of them really enjoyed it and I'm sure they will all be back. The drinks were great and tasty, but the bruschetta honestly fell a little flat - the portion felt tiny with four small raw white bread medallions and just some diced tomatoes tossed on top with a drizzle of balsamic that I overall didn't have much taste and felt lacking as an attempt at bruschetta but it was no big deal and we moved on. We also ordered the filet tips with gnocchi that took a little longer and came out with the main entrees and it was delicious. The filet tips were savory and flavorful, the gnocchi was excellent and the sauce was rich and creamy. My wife ordered the chef's pasta which turned out to be a shrimp pasta that she really enjoyed, and I ordered a spicy sausage rigatoni pasta that looked amazing but unfortunately fell short - it had a little bit of spice and everything was cooked perfectly but the noodles and meat tasted plain and the sauce was quite bland and watery and lacked any sort of seasoning. We asked for some salt which made it a little better and I finished it but would probably not order it again. Lastly, we topped the night off with the banana foster which couldn't miss. It was extremely delicious and was the perfect end to the meal. The service was exceptional and extremely pleasant which honestly boosted the experience. There was a large loud party happening and drinks and food were taking quite a bit to come out, but our server was amazing, charming, and attentive. They apologized and comped our drinks without even having to say anything and made us feel welcome and comfortable. I would come back for the service alone.
