I have been to Bighorn Tavern 2, which meant I was due to Bighorn Traven 1. There are a few differences that lie between both locations but for the most part they are the same. We came in for Saturday Brunch around 10am, early, I know, however we were greeted and given a table right away. The restaurant wasn't busy for a Saturday, we did receive really attentive and thoughtful service from our server, Kylie. While they still had their Holiday drink specials menu, the server did confirm they have 2 for 1 mimosas and $6 bloody marys. The special was a Prime Rib breakfast burrito which both of the people I came in with ordered while I ordered the breakfast BLT. The Prime Rib burrito was so tender and juicy with a fried egg in the middle, definitely a special item for sure. I had the BLT on an everything bagel with a side of fruit and it hit the spot of a lighter, less hearty breakfast. For good service and cheap drinks, I will definitely be back! read more

Hey there Party People In Reno doing the Gambling thing as well as the SPA. Decided to branch out and try a locals favorite the Bighorn Tavern. The atmosphere is everything you would want from a local bar joint. Pool table, Dart boards nice outside patio with heaters. Appetizers were Onions Rings and Cheesy Garlic Bread. The Onion Rings were tempura style fresh made in house...no frozen bag crap here. For my husband they were a hair on the doughy side but they weren't greasy at all which a totally appreciate. The Garlic bread was tasty having a hard Toasted cheese top with the gooey cheese underneath and the flavor was spot on. I'm a dark beer drinker so I went for the MOOSE DROOL if you had to many the moose wouldn't be the only thing drooling . You can't go to a tavern and not try one of the drafts...that would just be wrong. Hubby had the Prime Rib sandwich thought it was tasty with the chimiruri sauce and provolone cheese. I had the Meatloaf melt. It was the bomb. Tons of grilled onions a total mess to eat but so worth it...just make sure to ask for extra napkins. We took a chance and stopped at this quaint tavern for a date night. We sat down and they brought us water almost immediately. The ambiance was charming and inviting. For appetizers there was a deal going on for 3 so we tried the hummus with veggies, the potato wedges & mozzarella balls with their sauces all made in house. Each one amazingly flavorful. I had a burger with fries and the meat was juicy and fries were perfectly crispy. This place definitely has some great sauces to pair with each food. Found this spot on Yelp while looking for lunch in the Reno area. The food was so good! Service was amazing! Shout out to our server, Emily for helping me choose my lunch today. She was spot on! Honestly, there should be an extra star for the downtown Bighorn! We are super introverts, so anytime we can sit outside is a good time! Bighorn has a great outdoor seating space with TVs, plants, picnic tables, corn hole, heaters for cold weather, kid friendly, great menu, daily specials, a bar. The dressing pops this whole dish up ! Red crispy radishes and loaded with kale and quinoa.. this salad is now my new favorite!!! I came here on a Thursday around 5 PM and it was already pretty busy, but the atmosphere was lively and fun. They have a lot of healthy options on the menu, which was a nice surprise compared to typical fried bar food. I ordered the veggie wrap with steak and a Caesar salad. The food came out quickly, and while the Caesar dressing was a bit too bitter and acidic for my taste, the veggie wrap was excellent. The ingredients were super fresh, the pickled veggies added a great kick, and the steak was juicy and cooked perfectly. The service was also great. The staff were friendly, and our server gave us an awesome recommendation for a blueberry rum cider. I don't usually drink but there was a happy hour special that was too good to pass up. The cider was smooth and fruity. It didn't have a strong alcohol taste either which was great. It was pretty busy. There were lots of TVs playing different games too. It was a bit noisy and difficult to hear the person across the table from me but it's expected bc it's a tavern. Both my friend and I ordered burgers. My bun looked like it had barely touched an oven, and overall the flavor was pretty bland. The fries were unseasoned and forgettable. My friend's BBQ burger had great presentation, but also lacked any umf in flavor. The last guest at our table went with pancakes and eggs, and to be fair, those came out fine (hard to mess that one up). I usually rave about this spot--food is always tasty, drinks are good, and their happy hour is worth planning around. But this visit was a little off. Ordered a mimosa and a Diet Coke, and after about 20 minutes realized they were just chilling on the bar... looking thirstier than me. No one brought them over, so I finally just walked up and grabbed them myself. Luckily the food saved the day--my BLT breakfast bagel was delicious (eggs, bacon, lettuce, tomato, the whole vibe). This is one of those dishes where your friends instantly order and then you ask them what it is. They meet your question with that look that says "You mean you don't know what a Scotch egg is?" I already love eggs in any way shape or form BUT tasting an egg that's deep friend encased in sausage? This was so good and there wasn't even a need to dip in the mustard. *Quinoa Salad: Roasted Sweet potatoes, Quinoa, Avocado, Radish, Kale, Sesame Ginger Dressing. I loved how they offer a salad like this which is a step away from the usual bar food. If you want to go healthy and still want something tasty and filling, order this. I'm already a quinoa fan and added the grilled chicken for protein. The Sesame Ginger dressing was perfect to go with it and paired well. *Sampler platter with wings, tater tots + spinach artichoke dip with chips- Solid bar food and we devoured this. I can't comment on the beers since I don't drink, but they were also good. The interior was spacious and the service was attentive and friendly. A great local Bar with an amazing back patio area for outdoor dining. I've come here so many times over the years, I don't know how I've not reviewed it before. A family run business, I've always appreciated the service and hospitality that the servers and bartenders provide. One thing I love about Bighorn is that they have good Breakfast, lunch and dinner so it's always a good option when you need a go to dining spot. I've tried several different items and all have ben good. My most recent visit was for breakfast, I came with a big family group and seeing everyone's breakfast was difficult as there are so many good options. Honestly, the breakfast burrito was not as good as the omelette. If you are not into breakfast items, they can also serve lunch items for breakfast. You can get a burger at 8 am in the morning! Service was good and it wasn't too busy on a Sunday morning at 10 am. Parking lot is a decent size and has shaded parking spots. If you want to beat the crowds, hit up this place for brunch. I don't know why I waited so long to go to Bighorn Tavern--maybe because it's in a strip mall, I assumed it was one kind of place and a small one at that. But I'm so glad I was wrong: on walking in, you can find three different major areas that give you some choices about the kind of place you want to be in. If you want a small bar, it's to the right; if you want more of a restaurant, it's to your left; and if you want an expansive patio with very good heating, you walk out the back. The food and drinks are good, as long as you like beer and cocktails. The wine is pretty standard, which is fine, since this isn't a wine bar kind of place. On my first visit, our friendly and efficient server recommended the French dip, which came with a flavorful but not overly salty au jus, topped by a just-crusty-enough bread. The fries are excellent: seasoned and crispy on the outside. Although my second visit wasn't as successful, it won't keep me from coming back. I like the neighborhood atmosphere, food, and drinks too much to stay away. Unfortunately, we had a server who didn't seem as efficient as our first one. When asked what she liked on the menu, she shrugged and said she didn't eat there because she couldn't afford it (side note to the Tavern: you really should be offering samplings and/or meals to your servers so they can describe the food); she kept forgetting our stuff; food came out inconsistently, etc. She just seemed...scattered. And that's ok: it was a beautiful night outside, my burger was cooked perfectly, and I had a great night with my friends. read more

Returned to Big Horn Tavern because I wanted to check out their lunch menu. Today's special was prime rib sandwich but we opted for the fish and chips which was a heaping platter of fries and four large pieces of batter dipped fish served with tartar sauce. You can also order ranch as a side if wanted. We also had the Cuban sandwich with very delicious onion rings for an additional charge. The service is fast and we were lucky to get a table because as soon as we were seated the restaurant started filling up. The bartender / server was very friendly and handled all the tables efficiently. The prices are normal for the area and the food is very good. This happened like forever ago but I came to visit my best friend in Reno and my luggage got sent to Vegas instead of Reno so she took me to bighorn. I had the best dirty martini of my entire life and a plate of hot wings and there was a girl there with light-ish hair who understood me when I said I wanted a swamp water martini. Pleasant surprise visiting here for breakfast. I had steak and eggs which was delicious. My fiance had the breakfast burrito plate which she said was good. The waitress was amazingly friendly. Besides the service we received from her, she went above and beyond listing things to do and places to eat here in Reno. Considering that the storefront was unattractive the inside was decent. I got an amazing veggie burger (which I'm not vegetarian and wouldn't usually get) made with sweet potato.. so good! And I ordered the steak fries for an extra $3 which I thought was steep but these were like nothing I've had before and I will bedreaming about them until our next Reno trip! They were these hudge potato wedges with this delicious seasoning all over them. Worth every penny of the extra $3... ORDER THEM!!!! Casual, upbeat, and eclectic watering hole would round out a description. The happy hour is Mon-Fri from 2-6pm and features a little off of well drinks and basic wine, 50% off beer (they have Pabst Blue Ribbon) plus a food special of any 3 of their snacks (reduced size) for $15. The tavern is in the Keystone Avenue area. It's been many years since we have been to this area. As you walk in, you know you're in a locals restaurant. Open, airy and just inviting. Full bar, lots of televisions, a back patio, air hockey and wood tables. They have a full bar, a wine and beer menu. About 12 rotating microbrews on tap. We had the Coronado IPA. We had the tri-tip sandwich. He had chili for an additional $3 in lieu of French fries. One of the best chili bowls we've enjoyed. The sandwich was delicious. We met up with some friends here and upon walking in I was so surprised with the cleanness, upbeat atmosphere and friendly service. It's a great place to watch sports and a bit to eat. One star off for the sides though, I always find the onion rings to be either too breaded or too oily, and the French fries are often a little floppy. They do have an amazing outdoor area with TV's and fire pits. It was perfect for the chilly day! Service outside was amazing and attentive. Then after the event we went inside and had dinner!
