First time we've been to this neighborhood bar and Grill since they became the Lakeside bar and Grill from the former 'Truckee bar and Grill' and we really enjoyed our visit and the hearty breakfast food on this summer Sunday morning. We rode our bikes here from our house and we're able to sit outside in the shade and keep an eye on our bikes, which we appreciated. The restaurant has been renovated since we've been here on the inside and had a nice warm ambience but we also enjoyed sitting outside in the fresh morning air this day. I had the Eureka omelette, which fit the morning cravings nicely with bacon, spinach cheese and tomato, crispy, hashbrowns, and toast of your choice. My husband tried the breakfast combo with Sunnyside eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon and toast as well. We had to wait a bit for our toast and I think the service might have been a little bit slower being outside or they were just busy this day. Several families and couples were filing into the restaurant and it seemed that everyone knew everyone and like a local neighborhood favorite for sure. We'll be back to try more of their entrées and it looks like they have a great menu for lunch or dinner as well. read more

Nice, quiet neighborhood spot. Nestled in a strip mall on Moana, it probably seldom gets noticed unless you live in the neighborhood. The bar offers gaming machines. Large screen TVs can been seen from any seat if you're a sports fan. I personally enjoy one of the six tables out front, just enough shade and fun to people watch from. Weekend brunches are very tasty. And served until 2pm. Make sure to ask about any specials. Weekdays they serve breakfast to dinner. I love trying new places and foods. So, when my daughter asked me out to breakfast. My daughter's fiancé suggested this place. Located in the Moana West Annex, close to Atlantis Casino. They also have indoor and outdoor seating. We were warmly greeted upon entering the establishment. They let us know we were welcome to sit anywhere. They showed us to our table. The kindness just exuded from all the staff. Making everyone feel welcome. I had to try one of the specials, the Chilaquiles with prime rib bites. It came with a green enchilada sauce and a side. My daughter decided to get the same thing. We both got the cottage cheese as the side. Eddy got the breakfast tacos. My grandson got scrambled eggs and fresh fruit. The Chilaquiles were outstanding. How can you go wrong with Prime Rib? The green sauce was exquisite and was so flavorful. It was lip smacking delicious. Taking a bite of the tortillas with the huge chunks of prime rib in a luscious green enchilada sauce made my tongue and stomach overjoyed. The chilaquiles with a bite of the over easy eggs made every bite perfect. The chilaquiles were overloaded with pieces of Prime Rib. My grandson loved his eggs and fruit. My daughter's fiancé wished he had chosen corn tortillas over flour tortillas. He felt it would have been tastier. His tacos were overflowing with filling. The avocado wedges made them appear elegant. They were tasty. However, my breakfast was more decadent. We called my son and asked if he wanted us to bring him some breakfast. He, too, ordered the chilaquiles. He wasn't quite sure what it was. But, he thought they were scrumptious. I highly recommend the Prime Rib Chilaquiles. We went there this morning for breakfast. We were promptly greeted and seated with menus. Shortly thereafter, a crewmember came up and asked if we wanted coffee and water. Our beverage order was taken taken and quickly delivered. Shortly thereafter our server arrived and took our order. She was awesome. She was kind and knew the menu perfectly. Even though they were busy, our food was delivered in a timely fashion. I had the prime rib Benedict. It was delicious. The hollandaise sauce was creamy, and the eggs were poached perfectly. Additionally, the cabin potatoes were very tasty. The prices are also very reasonable. If you're looking for a neighborhood place with a great breakfast, I definitely recommend Lakeside Bar & Grill. The staff is pleasant and welcoming, and I left full and happy with the way I'd started my day. Everyone at our table enjoyed our food, from the eggs your way, huevos rancheros, and the breakfast tacos. The salsa is obviously fresh, and my corn tortillas were perfectly soft. The eggs were cooked to order for all three of us, and the Table Pancake was fluffy and soaked up the syrup perfectly. What makes this place a little bit better than other places is that it truly does feel like a neighborhood place where anyone is welcome. I ran into some of my neighbors, and I also noticed that when a man with a walker came in, he could easily get to a table without the staff making obvious accommodations or fussing over him. This is a mixed review. The food was good and the staff was so nice. The chef was delivering food to tables and was very kind. However, there was 1 waitress and 1 chef. It was very understaffed. It took probably 15 minutes before we even received menues and we had a reservation. It's small inside so even with just a few tables, it's very loud. We couldn't hear each other. Not sure how I've missed this place. Driving around checking the usual places in the shopping center and neighborhood. They all seemed packed, or at least there was no parking . I was getting ready to give up, when I saw the tables outside. Parking was easy. There were a few available tables and I was told to pick my spot. The place is nicely lit, but for some reason the menus dark background and shiny finish made it impossible to read without the flashlight on my phone. Ordered a yummy elderflower mimosa. So excited for all the new ownership/renovation changes and for all that has stayed the same. It's been 18+ months since I've been able to go out like this! My fave Cobb Salad is still marvelous even if the small version is no longer an option. Fresh warm grilled chicken breast, real bacon! fresh grated egg, sliced ripe avocado, and terrific extra blue cheese dressing is simply perfect. Menu is still varied and great sounding, just more expensive as is everything else in our lives. Wait staff is different faces but still welcoming and so friendly!! The refreshed decor is exciting, bright and clean. Wine choices have had the upgrade they so badly needed, not super expensive or over the top but steady and approachable choices, at least for this Chardonnay drinker. I really need to try some of the other delish menu choices but I'm old school and stuck in my ways when I find near perfection. read more

My husband and another couple met for dinner on their Prime Rib Friday. They chose to have the open-face rib-eye sandwich with salad or fries. They raved about the size and flavor of the steaks. I had the prime rib with the included baked potato, asparagus spears and a salad. Oh yeah, great, hot horseradish. Gotta tell you, it was the best rib-eye in town. Better than first place winners in Nevada's Best since we moved here 13 years ago years at a price that is truly affordable. Our server was Jessica. Very friendly, attentive, but not too much to interrupt. Perfect service. The restaurant has outside seating but we chose inside. Went into the bar and Grill last night to have a drink check it out, the place is very dark. The tables are dark. The floor is dark. There's hardly any light in it, they were offering prime rib that evening, Friday night, so I got my wife down here and we were gonna have prime rib. Well they served prime rib. My wife says mine is really good, well mine was the fat ugliest prim, it come out it was 3/8 of an inch thick so much fat I could not even find a place that I could eat, besides that the place was cold and dark you could not even see what you were eating, go someplace else read more

I ended up getting the burger with fries and my pictures don't do it justice. The patty was cooked the way I asked, juicy, and tender. The fries were amazing; great color and seasoning. Also the buns were toasted with right proportion of golden brown. To top it off their ranch is pretty dang good. I was in the area at lunch time and wanted to find a spot inside to avoid the smokey skies. I ordered an Arnold Palmer when I sat down and then took a look at the menu. After I looked through, the Turkey Croissant Club grabbed my attention. I ordered that, asking for bay mayo, and got a salad on the side. The salad was delivered quickly and it was a great size - bigger than I expected. Their vinaigrette was great and a nice start to lunch. My sandwich came out shortly after and I was surprised it was nice and warm. The sandwich was on a toasted croissant which was a nice surprise and great taste. I expected a cold sandwich and getting a warmed up and toasted one was great. The flavors were wonderful and piled up thick. Perfect lunch. The staff checked on my a few times for refills and dropping off the check. I arrived before the lunch crowd did and when I left most tables were full. I ordered very early for breakfast delivered to my hotel. I understood that delivery would be between 8 and 8:20. At 8:25 I began to panic because I had a 9:15 medical appointment, and still needed to check out of my hotel and walk about a block to my car. Finally, at 8:35 I received my food. It was beautiful and looked delicious. I was not thrilled because I asked for salsa and didn't realize I was putting ketchup on the beautiful omelette, especially the avocado! I came here by chance. I knew about the place but I'd never been. I like the place next door but they are closed on Mondays. A friend and I decided to go for dinner at the place across the street. We forgot to make a reservation and it was unusually busy. We decided to try some place else. I suggested to go here. We went in and there were just a few people sitting at the bar. All of the tables were empty. We had our choice. It's a small unassuming place and a bit bare but it was clean and nice enough. A couple came in just after us and was seated. It was about 6pm and I was expecting more people. The bartender was also the server. She came over with menus after a minute or so. The selection looked decent. I went for the rib steak with grilled vegtables. My friend when for the patty melt, which he liked. My steak was cooked like I asked and was tasty with a peppery rub on it. The house salad was typical but was fine. We opened a bottle of wine for a reasonable corkage fee. I was happy enough. I asked the server, who also appeared to be the manager, about the occupancy and she said that it really varies and being a cold night and holiday season many of their regular customers might say home. I complimented her on the food and she said that the cooks appreciate the feedback. The server asked if we had tried breakfast there and told us about their specials, which sounded good. Husband ordered the chicken salad sandwich - with sliced almonds and cranberries on wheat bread - very delicious. Seasoned fries arrived hot and crispy. I ordered soup and salad - a little disappointed that the soup special of the day was green bean with beef - but when it arrived there weren't any green beans - instead the beans were re-fried beans. Tried this place out after looking at the reviews. Online it says they close at 9, but I called to make sure and they said 8. I got there at 7:30, but the servers were still very cheery and friendly, not to mention, a big group came outside from the inside bar. They seemed like regulars and more people showed up at 8, so I think the hours vary based on if anyone is around. I ate by myself outside, and ordered a to go for my husband. I splurged on the ribeye ($25) because it looked good on the menu and on here. Asked for it to be medium rare, and it came out medium well, in part, the steak was fairly thin, so I'm sure its hard to cook rare. It was very reminiscent of when I worked at Jerry's as a teen, and the Sysco steaks the line cooks would make for me in style, taste and texture, but wasn't tender at all, and had no flavor. I asked a server for Heinz, but she never returned. I did mention that I was unhappy with the steak, but I wasn't looking for comps because I was still going to eat it. But the server did take off my $7 bloody mary which was unexpected and nice. I got the special salad, of the sesame crusted halibut for Cory to go, and he said the fish was excellent, and a good sized portion, even though there was too much salad for the meat. But overall, he said his was great. As others said, this feels very much like a neighborhood hang out for regulars, and I wouldn't not come back, I just will avoid some items.
