We were invited to join friends for dinner here and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was charming, the food unique and delicious and the service was excellent.
I was in Reno for work and decided to try Bistro7 for dinner. We had a 7:30 pm reservation and the restaurant was busy on a Thursday night. One of the owners, Erin, was there bussing tables and assisting her staff. Service was great, food was tasty and nicely presented. Wines were good. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I'm back in town.
Ate here during a business meeting as it was quiet enough to have a conversation. Food was okay. I would need to focus more on the food the next time, but it served the purpose for a biz meeting dinner quite well.
Not a reflection on the wait staff (which were great) but perhaps one of the worst experiences I have had, especially when you consider how empty the restaurant was. How's that for an opening. We went to Bistro 7 to celebrate my birthday. We arrived at 5pm, wanting an early dinner. The place was basically empty, with only a couple of other tables occupied. After perusing the menu, orders were placed for both appetizers and mains. The appetizers arrived pretty quickly. I must say the calamari was pretty good, nice batter and the pieces were pretty big. We ordered the tempura green beans. Not my jam. The batter was soggy and the green beans had a waxy taste to them. Not for me. After the appetizers we waited for our mains....and waited.....and waited. We were finally served our main courses, probably 45-50 minutes after we arrived. Remember the restaurant was basically empty. I ordered the Ribeye. There was nothing wrong with my order, my meal was fine but not worth the $47 asking price. The steak was way to thin for a proper Ribeye. My friend ordered the Steak Sandwich. He said that his sandwich was more tendon and gristle than steak. Very unfortunate. Another friend ordered the fish taco's. Completely devoid of any flavor and clearly not worth the price. One of our friends ordered a simple burger but wanted it well done. The first burger was served a very rare. It was sent back. She did not receive her second burger until well over an hour after we first arrived. Everyone was literally done with our meals, before her corrected burger arrived. In fairness, the manager did come over and apologized and did removed the charge for the burger but does it really take so long to correct an order for a burger ? Like I said the wait staff were friendly and were working hard but based on the quality of the food coming out to the kitchen, not to mention the absolutely unacceptable time before our food was delivered, there are FAR better options in Reno.
Great place for happy hour! We enjoyed the cocktail specials. The ambiance is business casual. Loved the deviled eggs. Their pasta specials were fantastic. Great service with awesome drinks and appetizers. Yes please! We will be back for happy hour soon.
Dropped in for happy hour earlier in the month and was blown away by the food! I ordered the steak frites and it was so good I had to stop back in this weekend while visiting again for a work trip. Dropped back in for happy hour and tried their jalapeño poppers! They were crispy, coated in panko and filled with Bacon and cheese. They were delicious but I wish they packed a bit of heat. Of course ordered the Steak Frites yet again and it did not miss! Sat at the bar with Brandon and had excellent service! Would definitely stop back in next time I'm in Reno. Take advantage of that happy hour too!
Great place to go for a cocktail, lunch and dinner!!! Beer glasses are frosty cold. Food is always prepared and presented perfectly and everything has always tasted delicious and fresh. I tend to crave beet salads (I know-a bit weird) and those are surprisingly hard to find. This place has them and when paired with blackened chicken, nothing is better! I realized I don't come here often enough but I plan to change that. The bar area is huge so there has always been an open table when I've gone. I know there is daily happy hour too. My only complaint, thy are closed on Sunday-the day I usually am out and in the mood for a drink and food.
Friends had asked us for a get together and had picked Bistro 7 as the place to meet. Boy were we glad for the recommendation. They picked several of the appetizers and two wines all of which we very much enjoyed. Then the decision for entrees had to be made. Upon recommendation my husband picked the Seabass and I went with the special Surf and Turf, even knowing there would be no way I was going to finish it in one sitting. We were both happy with our decisions. There is definitely some choices to go back to try. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions.
New owners and even better Bistro7. This has always been a great spot for happy hour and meetings for me. It seems with the new ownership it has an even friendlier vibe in both the restaurant and bar service. Food and drinks have been top notch. Love supporting local!
Another wonderful meal at Bistro 7. After a travel day of delays getting home, my wife, mother-in-law and I were ready for a nice dinner and immediately remembered our previous experience in this place. The restaurant is elegantly decorated and the service is always amazing. Sarah took great care of our table and was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu. She stopped by often to offer refills or see if we needed anything to make our dinner more enjoyable. My wife and I chose some lower carb options: Chicken Piccata w/Zoodles and Sea Bass w/double veggies (pictured) both were excellent flavor packed and delicious! My mother-in-law ordered her longtime favorite French Dip sandwich with au jus and a bowl of tomato Brie bisque. This is a great restaurant located in South Reno and is an amazing choice for lunch or dinner!
Trying to figure out which was better... the service or the food? Both were rockstar! We popped in for a quick cocktail and also ordered the calamari. Now, I make very similar calamari strips at home and I will drive to Pier One in Monterey to pick up my fresh calamari steaks; I don't mess around. But these were absolutely excellent and now I'm happy I don't have to drive six hours one way for quality calamari! (Yes; I AM that person... ugh!). This 100% hit the spot. Service was also perfect, kind, and attentive. Thank you; we'll definitely be back!
Bottom line: the steak and sides are consistently disappointing. The Chilean sea bass is the favorite for a reason. The fish tacos are also worth getting. Food: Ive eaten here many times. The food is just ok. The miso glazed Chilean sea bass stands out as their best dish. It's flaky and has the right balance of savory and fresh. The steaks are usually very bland, almost to the point of tedious to eat. The sides are so bland you'd swear it's a cardiac low-sodium diet on a hospital tray. Service: always great. Freshly made mini cookies for free at the concierge counter while you wait to be seated is a nice touch. Ambiance: Upscale and classy. A favorite spot for my employer to use when recruiting.
The very first New Year's Eve at Bistro 7 was a big success. The restaurant was hopping with excitement and the ambiance of the restaurant was elegant as always. A full house with so many happy customers wearing Happy New Year hats. A very special New Year's Eve 5 course menu was presented. A crustini, lobster bisque soup, portobello mushroom, Beef Wellington and cheesecake. These were my choices of food for the evening. The lobster bisque soup was off the chart. Thank you Bistro 7 for always having Five Star Food, beautiful ambiance and staff that really cares about the customer's dining experience. My buddy heard that there are new owners now so we wanted to support. Quality/Quantity - We had such a negative experience at the previous happy hour that my buddy suggested we come here. Plus, we wanted to support the new owners. Today we got the following: Clams - Still my favorite and with generous portions. The fresh baked bread... amazing! My buddy ordered a grilled cheese sandwich?!?! Brie and green apple. I guess he was craving that. This was a first. I had the Bison Bolognese - Pappardelle is currently my favorite pasta. But I am not sure if this was a true pappardelle?!?! It was still good though. Wider noodles than I am used to. And to wash it all down, we got beer and more beer. They had happy hour specials also, but we were not interested in any of that. See my picture. Ambiance - No changes. Good size with plenty of seating. Bar, table, booth, indoor, outdoor, and private seating. Plenty of parking. Open 6 days a week; closed Sundays. See my picture, Yelp, or their website. Service - Good. Met the new owner, well at least his wife. The husband was in the back office working the entire time we were here. She is very friendly and welcoming. Price - Happy hour is 20% off menu prices. $73 + generous tip. A little expensive for happy hour. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2008. Is it okay to admit this is my 3rd night in a row of coming to Bistro 7 on a work trip?!? I'm heading to the airport soon and I did look around for another place for dinner. While there's plenty of options, I returned bcuz *) amazing food, *) amazing staff *) excellent service *) happy hour! Tonight, I wayyyy over ordered but it's so worth it! I ordered their market salad (which is to die for!!!), lamb lollies, and Chilean sea bass, gluten free style. Kieran at the bar helped me choose a nice wine to go with it, I settled on the CA Bonono (spelling?) Side note! I got to meet Erin, one of the owners, she is amazing! She gave an impromptu tour of the patio room, which would be fabulous for parties over 15 people. Also know that the patio is noisy, you can hear local traffic. Overall, and excellent experience over three nights. This is my new favorite eating spot in Reno! I'll be back and bringing others with me! read more
Attentive staff, nice open ambiance, really delicious food. It's a bit on the spends side, but I highly doubt anything has been frozen. Everything seemed to be made in house. Happy hour prices are only if you sit in the bar area. They have a nice patio/party room you can rent out as well. We will be back. read more
I had the black and blue burger, which came with a pretzel roll and I guess I was unaware of that. The pretzel roll was pretty dry and so was the burger. I ended up taking it home for my husband. It was kind of very uneventful. I wish I would've ordered the bison burger, which had a brioche roll. I didn't realize we could choose what roll we could choose from, come to find out. So that I was not impressed by. I did like their clam chowder. The burger came with either fries, a salad, or soup so I chose the clam chowder. Which like I said, it was very tasty. The atmosphere at bistro seven is a little more upscale but at the same time casual. They have a 20% off any menu item during happy hour so that was a bonus. read more
When I eat out I prefer to dine on somthing that is up-leveled from what I can make in my kitchen. Will get back to this point. We ate at the bar on a Wednesday was moderately crowded which is good. Place is super cool inside and if you squint and look away from the windows and shake your head real fast for a min you can actually fool yourself into thinking you're not in a Reno strip mall establishment--well done. Wife had beet salad I had the pizza margarita. Pizza tasted like Heintz tomato paste with freeze dried crust--could do better at home Wife--who is the Mother Theresa of salad--was trying to be positive but indicated repeatedly that the dressing was gray popupon and that the salad was built incorrectly (bunch of stuff blobbed on top of lettuce). I dont know, maybe we'll sneak in food from home next time. Maybe we'll keep driving past or maybe we'll just stop for a drink. Keep squinting people we can delusion past strip malls if we work together !!! One love read more

Love this little gem of a restaurant! It's so beautiful inside and service is always excellent. Met my daughter for Happy Hour and we started with sparkling rose which was refreshing and delicious. We ordered the "potstickers", tempura green beans and hummus. Everything was so good. The only suggestion I'd make it to serve pita bread slices or pita chips with the hummus instead of tortilla chips. Great place and highly recommend! read more

We were in Reno for a theater performance and randomly picked a place for dinner. This place did not disappoint. We walked in and asked if we had reservation, we said no and they said they were booked. Asked if we wanted to sit at bar area. We were ok with that. They took us immediately. The waiter was nice and considerate, answering all our questions regaring the food and accomodations. If he didnt know he went to ask. Food was great! I got the firewood vegetarian pizza, my sis got the Margarita Pizza. My bro in law got the salmom. We asked for subsitute of vegetable which was colorful cawflour. They d said wouldnt accomodate brocholi or aspargus. oh well. My bf got the Lamb plate Said it was cook to perfection and was delious. My daughter got the grilled cheese and fries and said it was great. Over all great food experience. We were all were satiafied and would come back again to try a different dish. The ambiance was quiet and calm. Lots of selection for wine. The wine they offer was all along thw wall. Will come back again soon when we are back iin Reno. The food and service are good for the twice I am here. Particularly, the fried calamari is the best I ever had. It's thick and juicy, instead of the thin strings you would get at other places . The steak is also decent. read more

It's been a minute since I've been to the Bistro and I try to catch them when they have specials. The mushroom soup was absolutely out of bounds! That woodsy flavor of mushrooms was not overpowered by the rest of the soup. The blackened grouper was done to perfection!!! Thank you Bistro 7 for another wonderful dinner! read more

My boyfriend and I frequent here often, and you really can't go wrong. The previous two times we've visited have been for special occasions. The first being for a friends birthday, and most recently to get dinner with my parents on Christmas Eve. The atmosphere is nice, warm, and good for special occasions. We also enjoy date night here for the same ambiance. Although I will note that the night we came for the birthday party there was a table practically screaming which made it harder to converse at our table. I understand larger parties are loud, but respect is still necessary when in shared spaces. The food is great. I almost always start with a cup of their tomato soup. Although it's such a simple dish, it can usually be watery and flavorful. Here it is thick and delicious, one of the best I've ever had. We also adore their spinach and artichoke appetizer, that comes warm and with bread to scoop with. My mother is not one for anything green and was very skeptical of the name spinach artichoke dip, and even she thought it was delicious. They have a weekly specials list, including a vegetarian pasta. I almost always choose the vegetarian pasta special, and enjoy my option. Switching it up is also nice, but I do wish it would come with a cream sauce less- then I skip it. The pizza there is also yummy. I most recently tried the veggie pizza which came with great toppings. Service here can be hit or miss. There is a wonderful woman with a bunny tattoo who we have bonded with over our fur babies and she is wonderful. Other times it takes 30 minutes to get ranch. But overall it's okay. Chicken Pizza needed a good Alfredo sauce or garlic sauce. The crust was delicious, the toppings lacked seasoning. The Ribeye was so good and cooked well. read more
I've noticed this restaurant a long time ago since it is tucked down the side of the road going down South Virginia. I was finally able to try it a few days ago and now it will stay on my list of restaurants to return to. The ambiance is a bit more upscale, but is still laid-back for jeans or a casual look. The upscale vibe translates to their dishes as well. They offer classic steaks such as filet mignon and ribeyes, but they also have several bison dishes which I found unique. I had the White Truffle Shells n Cheese without any of the toppings. This is the fancy adult version of Mac and cheese, which I found not too overwhelming like other truffle dishes. It was perfectly balanced with the creamy cheese. However the additional toppings can go as high as an additional $9 for chopped chicken, which is why I opted out. We also had a classic pizza which was large and perfect for sharing. One thing that makes Bistro 7 special from many is that they use local ingredients in their dishes to maintain the freshness and quality. Knowing this, I'm tempted to try the bison dishes next time. read more
