Great place to go for a cocktail, lunch and dinner!!! Beer glasses are frosty cold. Food is always prepared and presented perfectly and everything has always tasted delicious and fresh. I tend to crave beet salads (I know-a bit weird) and those are surprisingly hard to find. This place has them and when paired with blackened chicken, nothing is better! I realized I don't come here often enough but I plan to change that. The bar area is huge so there has always been an open table when I've gone. I know there is daily happy hour too. My only complaint, thy are closed on Sunday-the day I usually am out and in the mood for a drink and food. read more

Not a reflection on the wait staff (which were great) but perhaps one of the worst experiences I have had, especially when you consider how empty the restaurant was. How's that for an opening. We went to Bistro 7 to celebrate my birthday. We arrived at 5pm, wanting an early dinner. The place was basically empty, with only a couple of other tables occupied. After perusing the menu, orders were placed for both appetizers and mains. The appetizers arrived pretty quickly. I must say the calamari was pretty good, nice batter and the pieces were pretty big. We ordered the tempura green beans. Not my jam. The batter was soggy and the green beans had a waxy taste to them. Not for me. After the appetizers we waited for our mains....and waited.....and waited. We were finally served our main courses, probably 45-50 minutes after we arrived. Remember the restaurant was basically empty. I ordered the Ribeye. There was nothing wrong with my order, my meal was fine but not worth the $47 asking price. The steak was way to thin for a proper Ribeye. My friend ordered the Steak Sandwich. He said that his sandwich was more tendon and gristle than steak. Very unfortunate. Another friend ordered the fish taco's. Completely devoid of any flavor and clearly not worth the price. One of our friends ordered a simple burger but wanted it well done. The first burger was served a very rare. It was sent back. She did not receive her second burger until well over an hour after we first arrived. Everyone was literally done with our meals, before her corrected burger arrived. In fairness, the manager did come over and apologized and did removed the charge for the burger but does it really take so long to correct an order for a burger ? Like I said the wait staff were friendly and were working hard but based on the quality of the food coming out to the kitchen, not to mention the absolutely unacceptable time before our food was delivered, there are FAR better options in Reno. read more

Another wonderful meal at Bistro 7. After a travel day of delays getting home, my wife, mother-in-law and I were ready for a nice dinner and immediately remembered our previous experience in this place. The restaurant is elegantly decorated and the service is always amazing. Sarah took great care of our table and was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu. She stopped by often to offer refills or see if we needed anything to make our dinner more enjoyable. My wife and I chose some lower carb options: Chicken Piccata w/Zoodles and Sea Bass w/double veggies (pictured) both were excellent flavor packed and delicious! My mother-in-law ordered her longtime favorite French Dip sandwich with au jus and a bowl of tomato Brie bisque. Trying to figure out which was better... the service or the food? Both were rockstar! We popped in for a quick cocktail and also ordered the calamari. Now, I make very similar calamari strips at home and I will drive to Pier One in Monterey to pick up my fresh calamari steaks; I don't mess around. But these were absolutely excellent and now I'm happy I don't have to drive six hours one way for quality calamari! (Yes; I AM that person... ugh!). This 100% hit the spot. The food is just ok. The miso glazed Chilean sea bass stands out as their best dish. It's flaky and has the right balance of savory and fresh. The steaks are usually very bland, almost to the point of tedious to eat. The sides are so bland you'd swear it's a cardiac low-sodium diet on a hospital tray. Service: always great. Freshly made mini cookies for free at the concierge counter while you wait to be seated is a nice touch. Ambiance: Upscale and classy. I had the black and blue burger, which came with a pretzel roll and I guess I was unaware of that. The pretzel roll was pretty dry and so was the burger. I ended up taking it home for my husband. It was kind of very uneventful. I wish I would've ordered the bison burger, which had a brioche roll. I didn't realize we could choose what roll we could choose from, come to find out. So that I was not impressed by. I did like their clam chowder. The burger came with either fries, a salad, or soup so I chose the clam chowder. Which like I said, it was very tasty. The atmosphere at bistro seven is a little more upscale but at the same time casual. They have a 20% off any menu item during happy hour so that was a bonus. read more

The very first New Year's Eve at Bistro 7 was a big success. The restaurant was hopping with excitement and the ambiance of the restaurant was elegant as always. A full house with so many happy customers wearing Happy New Year hats. A very special New Year's Eve 5 course menu was presented. A crustini, lobster bisque soup, portobello mushroom, Beef Wellington and cheesecake. These were my choices of food for the evening. The lobster bisque soup was off the chart. Is it okay to admit this is my 3rd night in a row of coming to Bistro 7 on a work trip?!? I'm heading to the airport soon and I did look around for another place for dinner. While there's plenty of options, I returned bcuz *) amazing food, *) amazing staff *) excellent service *) happy hour! Tonight, I wayyyy over ordered but it's so worth it! I ordered their market salad (which is to die for!!!), lamb lollies, and Chilean sea bass, gluten free style. Kieran at the bar helped me choose a nice wine to go with it, I settled on the CA Bonono (spelling?) Side note! I got to meet Erin, one of the owners, she is amazing! She gave an impromptu tour of the patio room, which would be fabulous for parties over 15 people. Also know that the patio is noisy, you can hear local traffic. Overall, and excellent experience over three nights. This is my new favorite eating spot in Reno! I'll be back and bringing others with me! read more

This place is delicious. The wedge salad was very good with bits of bacon.i actually came back a second time specifically for this salad. The second time I got it to go and the dressing was a little light and so was the blue cheese. It's definitely a restaurant that is too nice for to go items so it's my fault. Great ambience and attentive staff. When I eat out I prefer to dine on somthing that is up-leveled from what I can make in my kitchen. Will get back to this point. We ate at the bar on a Wednesday was moderately crowded which is good. Place is super cool inside and if you squint and look away from the windows and shake your head real fast for a min you can actually fool yourself into thinking you're not in a Reno strip mall establishment--well done. Wife had beet salad I had the pizza margarita. Pizza tasted like Heintz tomato paste with freeze dried crust--could do better at home Wife--who is the Mother Theresa of salad--was trying to be positive but indicated repeatedly that the dressing was gray popupon and that the salad was built incorrectly (bunch of stuff blobbed on top of lettuce). I dont know, maybe we'll sneak in food from home next time. Maybe we'll keep driving past or maybe we'll just stop for a drink. I had to drive my buddy to the airport, so we had dinner at 4pm today... I just had lunch at 1pm on Mt Rose... Okay, so not dinner, just HH. :) My buddy and I got the following: Brie Potstickers - Personally, I would NOT call these potstickers, they are more like "wonton" wrappers...? It did taste good. Loved that jam, well balanced. Steam Clams - Wow, so impressed with this. Good flavors and generous portions. With fresh baked bread, I believed baked in-house. My buddy tried to soak up all the juices/sauce with that bread. See pictures. Spinach Dip - I believe it was also made from scratch? In-house...? It was okay. But again, that fresh baked bread!!! Amazing!!! Crispy Calamari - This and the clams were a hit. I can highly recommend this. Meaty, fried well, nice sweet sauce, etc. And to wash it all down, one of each of the Sauvignon Blancs - Justin and Kim Crawford. My buddy got two glasses of Four Graces Pinot Noir. And that second glass was a very generous pour, see picture. Complimentary cookies when you come in and leave, which were so GOOD! This place went above and beyond! We reserved the entire restaurant for a private event. Ninety (90) people came to dinner to honor my friend's husband who passed away. The owners Erin and Doug were kind, compassionate and extremely helpful every step of the way to get this accomplished. When it came time for the event not only the owners but the entire staff was on point! Everything ran smooth! The drinks were great. The food was delicious! Definitely recommend the lamb lollipops. All who attended were very satisfied, especially our friend who was hosting. We never expected an event of this size to run so smoothly. We were in Reno for a theater performance and randomly picked a place for dinner. This place did not disappoint. We walked in and asked if we had reservation, we said no and they said they were booked. Asked if we wanted to sit at bar area. We were ok with that. They took us immediately. The waiter was nice and considerate, answering all our questions regaring the food and accomodations. If he didnt know he went to ask. Food was great! I got the firewood vegetarian pizza, my sis got the Margarita Pizza. My bro in law got the salmom. We asked for subsitute of vegetable which was colorful cawflour. They d said wouldnt accomodate brocholi or aspargus. oh well. My bf got the Lamb plate Said it was cook to perfection and was delious. My daughter got the grilled cheese and fries and said it was great. Over all great food experience. We were all were satiafied and would come back again to try a different dish. The ambiance was quiet and calm. Lots of selection for wine. The wine they offer was all along thw wall. Will come back again soon when we are back iin Reno. My boyfriend and I frequent here often, and you really can't go wrong. The previous two times we've visited have been for special occasions. The first being for a friends birthday, and most recently to get dinner with my parents on Christmas Eve. The atmosphere is nice, warm, and good for special occasions. We also enjoy date night here for the same ambiance. Although I will note that the night we came for the birthday party there was a table practically screaming which made it harder to converse at our table. I understand larger parties are loud, but respect is still necessary when in shared spaces. The food is great. I almost always start with a cup of their tomato soup. Although it's such a simple dish, it can usually be watery and flavorful. Here it is thick and delicious, one of the best I've ever had. We also adore their spinach and artichoke appetizer, that comes warm and with bread to scoop with. My mother is not one for anything green and was very skeptical of the name spinach artichoke dip, and even she thought it was delicious. They have a weekly specials list, including a vegetarian pasta. I almost always choose the vegetarian pasta special, and enjoy my option. Switching it up is also nice, but I do wish it would come with a cream sauce less- then I skip it. The pizza there is also yummy. I most recently tried the veggie pizza which came with great toppings. Service here can be hit or miss. There is a wonderful woman with a bunny tattoo who we have bonded with over our fur babies and she is wonderful. Other times it takes 30 minutes to get ranch. But overall it's okay. Bistro 7 continues to impress. The food is consistently excellent, but the salmon on a cedar plank is the real standout--hands down the best salmon in town. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and always leaves me wanting more. Their happy hour is decent. A 20% discount isn't huge, but it's better than nothing, and it's a good excuse to grab a drink or two. Speaking of drinks, the bartender here knows his stuff. Every cocktail was well-crafted and balanced--definitely one of the stronger bar programs in the area. The service was great too. The wait staff was polite, attentive, and helpful without being overbearing. Overall, Bistro 7 offers a solid dining experience--great food, great drinks, and a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. Unfortunately this restaurant seems to have gone downhill from the last time we ate here, which was about 2 1/2-3 years ago. Though I did not have one of the appetizers (calamari and green beans) they did look delicious. I had the zucchini pasta with artichokes in a tomato sauce. I added beef to it which was fine, but there were chunks of fat mingled in with it. The dish was mediocre. Unfortunately, one of our guests was forgotten and didn't get her mail until everyone else at our table was mostly finished.. We were not sure what happened but perhaps they gave her mail to someone else accidentally. The explanation was insufficient. We will most likely not be back. Management did comp her meal however. read more

This was our second meal here and this time it was great! We started with the surf and turf sushi and lamp lollipops and a cup of shrimp gumbo. Allwere excellent. The marinade used on the lamb was wonderful herby which gave the lamb a savory flavor. Our entrees were salmon and fish tacos. Again the salmon had a nice pesto like sauce and was cooked medium rare as requested. The fish tacos were moist with all the goodies on top. I've noticed this restaurant a long time ago since it is tucked down the side of the road going down South Virginia. I was finally able to try it a few days ago and now it will stay on my list of restaurants to return to. The ambiance is a bit more upscale, but is still laid-back for jeans or a casual look. The upscale vibe translates to their dishes as well. They offer classic steaks such as filet mignon and ribeyes, but they also have several bison dishes which I found unique. I had the White Truffle Shells n Cheese without any of the toppings. This is the fancy adult version of Mac and cheese, which I found not too overwhelming like other truffle dishes. It was perfectly balanced with the creamy cheese. However the additional toppings can go as high as an additional $9 for chopped chicken, which is why I opted out. We also had a classic pizza which was large and perfect for sharing. One thing that makes Bistro 7 special from many is that they use local ingredients in their dishes to maintain the freshness and quality. Went here to celebrate a couple birthdays in our ladies group. I had never been here before and the menu had selections from appetizers to salads to sandwiches/soups to entrées. Everything on the menu looked mouthwatering and wonderful. Three of us settled on the blackened chicken sandwich with their tomato bisque soup with brie or fries. Sandwich was served on a large hoagie type bun with ample chicken and avocado, and a little bit of kick to the chicken. The tomato bisque soup was one of the best tomato soups I've had in the Reno area. The pat of Bree on the top only added to its excellence. Fabulous was the description for all our the meals and included the three blackened chicken sandwiches, a Cobb salad, and a grilled cheese with the tomato soup. The birthday girls were presented with chocolate, brownie n a scoop of ice cream and a candle on top. And it was delicious as well. My only complaint would be when we arrived. Our table of five was sat right next to another table of five and the place was pretty empty at the time, so having a conversation was like we were a group of 10 instead of just a party of five. Our server took both our drink and food orders. We waited maybe 15 minutes for our drinks, one beer and another a cocktail. It seemed that one of the waitresses was also the bartender. I observed a nearby customer get his drink from the bar after he asked about it. The food was also late in arriving. My husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich but said it was very salty. My chicken cobb salad was good, basic. The chicken was a little dry. We probably won't be back since there are a lot of other good restaurants to choose from.
