Was in a hurry so we decided to grab a to-go order from Moxie's. The interior of the place was a bit dark (blacked out windows) with light coming from the TV and gambling units lining the bar top. Pretty average for a bar and restaurant. Food was prepared pretty quickly and the bartender who handed it off and took the payment was friendly. We both got salads and my wife also got a cup of soup. They looked really good, with rich greens and ample protein. Unfortunately, the proteins (mine salmon, hers turkey) and dressings were way too salty. Mine had great-looking olives and red peppers--the whole thing looked really appetizing, but it was just too salty, and even with a squeeze of lemon and my dressing being mainly balsamic vinaigrette, it didn't have any brightness to it. It was still overall a healthy meal and it seemed thoughtfully prepared and presented, but it was a bit of a bummer to eat. read more

We stopped in after a busy day of errands. Our service was super friendly! The outdoor dining was still closed for season-but the views overlooking downtown are amazing. I enjoyed their kale quinoa salad with shrimp (loved the dressing-and it wasn't drenched!) Hubs enjoyed their lamb burger and we shared the delicious sweet potato tater tots. Beautiful view of Reno from the dining room. Moxie's offers a full menu from appetizers to sandwiches, salads, homemade soups and full entrees. There are 3 locations in Reno. Tonight we enjoyed the Cobb sandwich with fries. It is served on toasted sourdough bread. A delicious, generous portion. Also we tried the Greek salad. Another large portion And very tasty. The highlight was dessert, however. A lemon cheesecake served in a crock. So creamy and tart. Our server was attentive and pleasant. We sat in the bar area for the view, but both bar and dining room have plenty of seating. For a Sunday evening the place was buzzing. They also provide take out service. We haven't been to Moxie's since Covid after going there often before that. We returned last night and the food and service was wonderful just like before. We didn't notice any changes which was fine with us. The city views are breathtaking from on top of the hill. I highly recommend and we'll go back sooner this time. read more

If you sit on the north side of the room in this restaurant you have an amazing view of Reno and Sparks. The waitress was really nice! However, the salad that came ahead of the Chicken Parmesan was starting to wilt so it wasn't eaten. The Chicken Parmesan on the other hand was reported to be "O.K.". I ordered the Tri Tip dip with fries. The sandwich came piled with meat and melted Swiss. My complaint with the sandwich was that the bun wasn't toasted making it disintegrate the instant you dip it in the au jus. Sandwiches like this require a more sturdy bun. The menu itself had some nice sounding entrees, salads and apps. I was hoping for something more. read more

I always enjoy eating at Moxie's. The service is consistently excellent and the food can be depended upon to be just as excellent, as well. They have a nice wine list and a full bar. I've tried things on the menu from the steam clams and fig Brie appetizers to burgers, sandwiches, and numerous salads. All were great. Fresh, tasty, and satisfying. As I stated before, is the consistency of what they deliver in service and food that is most attractive at Moxie's. And with numerous locations they're able to serve different neighborhoods of Reno. I can't find M3 on yelp, but we've visited all of the Moxie's locations and have had mostly positive experiences. M3 is our favorite. The sweet potato fries are the best. We also love the ambiance and the service is always great. One of our go-to places for our girls' nights out. read more

Went to restaurant yesterday with my wife and her sister. We try to find new places to eat and selected this from looking at reviews and the webpage. Service was quick and got our appetizers very fast. The appetizers were good. I had the trip tip french dip and the meat was cold, no flavor at all. Au Jus was flavorless and the horseradish spread had no discernable heat or flavor for that matter. About the only thing that was good was the ketchup for the fries. My wife's sandwich was good. My sister in law had the trip tip sandwich as well and said there was no flavor to it. Asked to speak with a manager and waiter said that there was not one on duty at the time. Disappointed that I couldn't talk to a manager. I really don't think that we will be returning again. This is my first time ever reviewing on this site. read more

I ordered the Prime Rib Stroganoff to go as I was reading about in Reno Foodies. I called in my order and had it ready when I arrived. It was only 14 bucks and prime rib beef? Heck yah! I will say the beef was so tender, the sour cream was served on the side so you could add to your liking. I will say I wasn't pleased at all. The pasta was so mushy, not al dente, the flavor was very bland! I think it was maybe from day before and maybe they just microwaved it! Needless to say I was dissatisfied, although I felt bad by person who suggested in foodies, I said yes it's good! It's better than some others I've tried. I would like to try again at a later date after everything is open, I honestly think it was pre made so I can definitely understand. I'll give them that the portion was huge and the garlic bread was awesome. I hope to go back to retry when we get back to some normalcy! read more

We wandered in here with a group of friends for a late brunch/early lunch. The food was okay, everyone at the table ordered something different, and they were all more or less satisfied with their decisions. No one was blown away by it, though. The ingredients were fresh, I will say that. The grilled chicken was tender and juicy. I opted for the Cobb Sandwich and shared a Cobb Salad. The bread was nicely buttered and toasted. There didn't seem to be enough bleu cheese on it however, and I opted to ask for a side of bleu cheese dressing to drizzle on each bite. We didn't order any beer/boozy drinks, but the waitress was kind enough to brew a pot of coffee for us. And that brings us around to the waitress. She wasn't rude, but she came off as short and curt to us from the get go. She seemed to want to rush us through ordering. Later on, when someone asked her for an additional side of something, she snapped back saying that she'll check with everyone once all the food is distributed. I hadn't been to the original Moxie's in quite a while, essentially after it opened in 2000 and before Yelp was created in 2004. A friend wanted to go and since I'd enjoyed it before, I decided it was time to revisit it on Friday, 1/18/19, as well as write a review about it. What a nice experience! I've been to their new location, M3 and wrote a review about it. I enjoyed this location just as much. We sat at the bar and our server/bartender was an excellent host who saw to our needs in a timely fashion without being overly attentive...we did take a while to order food since we were talking and he knew just how to treat us right. It's a bar atmosphere, but, there are tables/booths available if you don't want to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle. I'm a big fan of sitting at the bar! We started with a Steamed Artichoke ($7), served with butter and mayonnaise. Nice size artichoke, steamed perfectly...great starter. My friend had a Turkey Club ($12), sliced turkey breast topped with bacon, monterey jack cheese, avocado and tomato, served on sourdough bread. The taste I had was great. The Turkey was moist and delicious with the accompaniments complimenting the sandwich perfectly. I ordered the Linguine & Clams ($19), linguine topped with fresh clams and your choice of a white wine sauce or a spicy red sauce. I got the white wine sauce...the classic style and the way I like it. Nice large serving with plenty of clams, the pasta was cooked a perfect al dente and the white wine sauce had the perfect amount of "brine" to my taste...and having been raised next to the Atlantic Ocean and living later in life by the Pacific Ocean, I know my clams and the right amount of brine to make it taste great. The clams were cooked perfectly...no rubber bands here...LOL! I also ordered a side of Garlic Bread ($3) to sop up the sauce at the end. Toasted perfectly with the right amount of butter and garlic. All in all, very satisfying and filling. My friend, being a wine lover, had Kendall Jackson Chardonnay ($8) and I had Bulleit Rye Whiskey ($7) and Lagunitas IPA ($5.50). A lot more bars are carrying the Bulleit Rye now and I was glad to see that they had it here. I toured Canada extensively with bands in the `80's and developed quite the taste for Rye...it's good to see it's popularity expanding lately and it being offered at lots of places now. A very nice experience...I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. I suggest you try it, too! read more

On Valentine's Day, my husband and I wanted to do something a little different. So we just went with the flow of the night and pretended we didn't have kids and just went wherever we felt like going. I wanted a really good martini so we looked up martinis and this place popped up. It was seat yourself so we sat and the waitress came to us right away. And asked us how we were. I told her we were just going to have drinks and I wanted to look at the menu. I ordered my extra dirty martini and Alex ordered his whiskey sour. My martini was good! I would say it wasn't dirty enough but eh it's ok. It depends on the bartender. One time I had the best dirty martini and it's ruined me so now I always expect it to be that way, but unfortunately I haven't found a place that has done it the same. Alex's whiskey sour was good. The waitress made sure we were doing alright and right when we were done with our drinks she asked right away if we would like another. Alex ordered an old fashioned and I got a vodka tonic with lime. I shouldn't have ordered another one but hey we were having fun hahaha. My husband and I frequent this great restaurant and bar. I can always find something yummy on the menu, even though I only eat seafood. My go-to meal is the Kale salad and I like to add shrimp or salmon. Light and delicious! I pair it with an ice cold draft Stella. If I want to go all in, I also have the garlic Parmesan French fries. Tip: only eat them if your date/spouse/friend eats them too, lol!!! My husband LOVES the fried chicken. He pairs it with French fries or a side salad with ranch. My grandma said it was 'the best friend chicken she has had in 50 years'. That means something, since she's from MO. This restaurant has gaming at the bar or indoor/outdoor seating. Moxies is a sports bar w great view of valley -on one side and o/s patio. Fairly simple menu, but good choices and well-rounded. What was really special is it has a top- quality whole steamed artichoke appetizer. Very hard to find anymore. Cooked perfectly, served w hot butter and mayo for dips. Husband had excellent French dip sandwich. Next time I would order my nachos deconstructed so chips wouldn't get soft. But lots of toppings. Serve was great and fast. read more

The food at this place is good. Not mind blowing or inedible, but good. I had an amazing experience with a server who made my dining experience incredible. As a new mom, going out to eat with my toddler can be challenging. Finding kid friendly places adds to the challenge. When I decided to come here with a friend knowing it's a sports bar, I expected it to be a rough dining experience with my 20 month old. The waitress is a mom. She, from the beginning, just knew and made my experience as easy as it could have been. She addressed my child, she made sure her food came out first, she offered options not on the menu knowing something might work out, and she was very attentive. I can't believe it took us over a year to discover this neighborhood gem. I always saw the sign from the road and/or the freeway, but for some reason thought it was a place to gamble (which it is - one side of it, anyway). I had gone to their sister restaurant, M3 and one of the servers told me about Moxies. They have a great menu - something for everyone. The first time, my husband and I were in the mood for a small lunch - so we shared the fried chicken. The chef split our one entree beautifully - no extra charge. And it was plenty of food for two people. The chicken was lightly battered and crispy - excellent. We went back a couple weeks later and this time, my husband got the fish sandwich and I got the prime rib dip sandwich. Wow - both were so good. We are going to try their nightly specials, too - Wednesdays are Italian night and Fridays are prime rib night. I need to give a shout-out to Amy - who has served us both times. She has an amazing memory - remembered both our names and gave us such wonderful service. read more

This week I have gone to the Moxie's on Caughlin Parkway twice. Once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times I've ordered their grilled salmon because it's so good. For lunch the Mediterranean salad with grilled salmon or grilled chicken is my favorite. I met my friend here for appetizers. The ambiance was a very chill laid back sports bar feel, where you can seat yourself. I liked that there were just two TV monitors playing a game. I was so involved in conversation that I didn't notice what was on. There was a more secluded area where you could sit if you wanted a more restaurant ambiance, and not quite so loud sports bar. For this Saturday night, there were a number of patrons, but not so many that it was impossible to hear your dinner buddy. Our calamari and baked Brie were super delicious! I had never had baked cheese before, so it was nice to try something new. We had it with fruit, and that was a delicious combination. The calamari was some of the best I've had, ranking up there with BJ's calamari. My biggest complaint was the service, our waitress Amie was prompt in getting our drink orders and taking down our appetizer order, but after that, she was like a ghost. She didn't come back to check on us. Our appetizers took a good half hour or forty-five minutes to make their way out to us. As we made our way through the calamari, we ended up running out of marinara. We asked Amie if we could have a little more and she never brought it to us. After another long period of time, my friend requested another glass of wine, and Amie didn't return with it for another ten minutes. Once she brought the wine and saw we had finished eating, she brought the check super fast and was quite attentive and kind. I wish she had been that way throughout the whole night. read more

This is the cutest, restaurant/ bar and I love the staff. The food is great the servers are wonderful and treat us like family. They have 3 locations but this and Caulighn Ranch Moxies are the best!! The menu has a wide variety and there's something for everyone. :) we visit once a week. read more

The food is a good price for what you get and the view is amazing. My 3 stars is due to the waitress- I went last night and our experience was fun at first. The waitress was witty and seemed to be in good spirits. Then she started complaining about the new waitress and cussing, talking poorly about kids at her school (she's a teacher) and wine in her coffee cup. She then hit on my boyfriend repeatedly right in front of me, came back to our table even after she was no longer in charge of our section and comped his drink but no one else's. It made things incredibly uncomfortable for everyone and we won't be going back. No wonder "she's 36 and still single"- her words not mine. read more

Somewhere in between two and three stars, but I generally like to give places the benefit of the doubt. I am a HUGE fan of M3, so I decided to give Moxie's a try assuming it would at least be similar quality, while not expecting the same types of food available at the other location. However, the quality was just not on par that evening. The standard bar trio of wings, mozzarella sticks, and chicken fingers was ordered. And while the flavor was decent on all of the items, the fry guy was apparently getting distracted in the back and over-doing it a bit. The chicken ended up bone dry so much that the ranch couldn't fix it. The mozzarella sticks ended up spewing their cheesy goodness all over the plate, and the wings were on the other side of too crispy. However, there is a great selection of beer and wine, and the bartender was super friendly and attentive. Rather than relying on this location for food, I'll head there for a drink next time. read more
