Another successful visit to Royce Burger! I came by on a Thursday evening, after 9PM and was glad they were still serving food since most places in Reno seem to close up their kitchens before 9pm. It was a beautiful evening and we enjoyed the outside patio dining with our dog. They took our order quickly and the burgers came out pretty quick as well, within 30 min or so. Burgers were great as always, and we added the side of fries with fry sauce, a winning combination all the way around! Haven't had a bad experience yet, I love Royce burger! read more

Craving a burger, we decided to stop by the restaurant that is always in the top burger joint lists. We ordered the Imperial Japanese Chicken Wings, the Frenchified Burger, and an order of poutine. The star of the meal was the chicken wings with the wasabi ranch dipping sauce. The seasoned shoestring fries served alongside were also excellent. The burger was very good, but it was essentially meat, sauce, and cheese. I like a little freshness on my burgers, so I was missing some lettuce and tomato. Fortunately, I substituted a salad for the fries and ended up piling most of it onto the burger. Next time, I'll just ask for those toppings to be added. The poutine, however, didn't quite live up to the versions I've had elsewhere. I'm not sure if they used white cheddar curds, but they were almost completely melted instead of retaining that signature squeaky texture. The gravy was just okay, and I don't think shoestring fries are the best choice for poutine since they don't hold up as well under the toppings. Royce easily earns 5 stars from me. I ordered the Frenchified burger and it absolutely delivered. Pro tip: ask to substitute fries because it comes with chips by default. The burger had plenty of caramelized onions, which I'm a huge fan of, and everything was packed with flavor. The wait for the food was about an hour, but it was well worth it in the end. Also, don't miss the extra seating tucked away behind the bar if the front looks full. I also opted for their house michelada paired with a shot for $8 (I believe), which was a great deal. Another nice touch was their frequent visitor stamp card. I'll definitely be back and plan on trying the chicken wings next time. I love the shoestring fries, pairs perfectly with the burger and the fry sauce is my favorite! The guys that run the bar are so nice, friendly and accommodating to your needs. First time visiting here with some friends. They weren't wrong when they said Royce has amazing burgers. I was pleasantly surprised by my burger. Very delicious and cooked perfectly. It came with a huge portion of potato chips. The group also ordered fries and portobello fries too. The fries were amazing...shoestring style with the perfect amount of seasoning. The portobello fries were disappointing as they seemed to have been in the fryer for too long and batter coating tasted burnt. In general the experience was good and the food came out fairly quickly. The server was very nice and polite. We sat on the patio area which was fine. All high top long tables and by the time we left it was pretty full. It's my personal favorite burger spot in Reno, I prefer a burger cooked well + packed with flavor over something super juicy so this place clicks well for me. The indoor seating can get a bit crammed/loud quickly especially at their busier times of the night, so I prefer sitting outside + coming earlier when they're not as packed I've tried most of the menu and have never been disappointed. My favorites are the royceburger and green chile burger. We came in at 4:30 on a Saturday night before a basketball game. As we walked up to the counter, the wait time for food changed from 45 min to 1 hour. I understand restaurants can be busy but an hour is a long time to wait for a burger. Our food runner delivered our wings for our appetizer and didn't ask us if we were okay and needed anything else. At Royce, you order at the bar and don't get assigned a server at your table. Therefore, I feel that it's very important the food runners check in with you because they'll be your only point of contact throughout the night. And unfortunately, I ran into a problem. The Japanese wings were burnt and overcooked. I had to get up, find a food runner, and figure out if they could make me a new set of wings. They did and the second set turned out way better than the first. Our burgers did show up approximately 1 hour after we ordered and they were delicious. I have passed by Royce plenty of times and finally got to go in and around and OMG I love it! On a busy Friday night for my friend's birthday, we hoped inside to an older building with classic decorations, waiting in line we got to figure out our food orders and I noticed all the songs playing on their speakers was punk and rock! The burgers, kitchen, and service staff are always friendly and on point. The place has the best vibe with multiple TVs to watch stuff, but most off all this place inspires conversation. They tend to get very busy (especially on Fridays + Saturdays - they no longer offer takeout on these days), which will extend your wait to order and receive your food. Arriving during peak will also make it more difficult to find a spot to sit, especially when it's too cold or windy to sit outside. I've visited with different groups throughout the year and it's always a pleasure: dinner with a friend, happy hour with coworkers, a burger and a World Series game, you can't beat it! The inside is moody with sports on every tv and the outside is a real treat when the weather is nice. Finally, the food! All the burgers come with double smash patties. I've tried the bbq and frenchified burger and both are delightful. The frenchified is my go-to and has really bold flavor. I always get fries on the side with a ranch. The fries are really great - thin and seasoned really well. I recently tried the cheese curds and they are to die for! The pork belly and shishito peppers were also a hit with the group. We've been to Royce once or twice many moons ago when we would have a drink. Haven't been back since they served burgers but I see everywhere how good the burgers are. We were greeted warmly and offered menus. Once ordered we sat outside as it was a beautiful summer afternoon before the thunderstorms. The patio was decently busy. It took about 25 minutes for our food to be delivered, and only one burger was. The guy explained mine had been made on a regular bun not gluten free so they were remaking it. Mine came out about 10 minutes later and he was very apologetic, which I appreciate and I also appreciate the attention to detail even though it was missed the first go around. My burger was pretty good. The bun itself was a 10/10 which is difficult for gluten free! However they made it was very good maybe a little toasted or something. Fries were yummy and I would recommend them over the chips which looked to be basic potato chips. Hubs didn't love his burger, felt like they might not have been fresh patties but he can talk about that if he wants. Dogs on the patio which I love to see. I would recommend to check out. read more

We had been wanting to try Royce for a while and finally made it out to try. I definitely lives up to all the hype and high reviews. The place has a nice vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. I was pumped to see the Rainer bottles on the menu! The bartenders were all cool and very helpful with it being our first time in. We ordered pork belly, buffalo wings and a bbq burger. Every thing was incredible. The pork belly had a nice sauce on it and was very tender. The wings were crispy, saucy and delicious. The star was the bbq burger with their homemade bbq sauce. All of my out of town guests were craving burgers, and I found this place on yelp. It is a bar and lounge and has some booths, some bench tables for large parties, bar, seating, and some couches. This will definitely be my go to lounge for a burger and fries. The fries are shoe-string potatoes with perfect taste and texture. The mushroom burger, however, was horrible. Pretty sure it was a microwaved mushroom. Also, my son ordered an extra patty on the mushroom burger, and it was like shoe leather. It may have been microwaved with the mushroom. My son was eating his burger, and I asked to taste it. He didn't realize what was wrong with it until I let him taste the Royce. He immediately took his plate to the manager. It was that horrible. Unfortunately, the had closed the kitchen. The manager apologize gave my son a free drink in compensation. I asked him if he could help clean the table off. He said a waiter would be by shortly and just stood there and did nothing. The bar was absolutely packed, and he was just standing there. Eventually, the waiter came by, I would say more a food runner/Buser. He cleaned the table and I asked if he had a menu. He said that we had to order the food at the bar, and I said I definitely understood that but did he have a menu. He said I had to go to the bar and get my own menu. He also went to the expediting window and stood there. That's a bit strange that they're not so customer service oriented. A quality burger, there's a reason it keeps coming up for locals as the best burger in Reno. Be mindful, this isn't fast food. Before you go in, there is signs that says expect a 20 minute wait or more for a burger. If that is an issue for you, this isn't the spot for you. I've gone here a few times. The most recent time with my parents and aunt. I was a bit skeptical taking them to a dive bar for a burger since I wasn't sure how they would react to it. I didn't know until after the meal that they had a whole back section that would have been a lot better of an experience for them. They have a lot of tables and room back there whereas the front is either a bar, one table, or more a a lounge set up. There is also a outdoor area, but it had been a bit windy and sprinkling throughout the day so that isn't an option. I've done the Frenchified burger and the chile burger. Both times i opted for the fries over the chips and feel like I need to try the chips. Burger comes with two patties, a great bun, than the rest is up to you on which you choose. The fries are what I would consider shoe string fries, but maybe slightly thicker. I'm usually not a fan of shoestring fries, but I polished them off easily both times. My parents and aunt are harder to please. They like ingredients that speak for themselves and don't like too much sauces. All 3 of them really enjoyed it and I'm sure they will all be back.
