I'm still going down a long list of burger places to compare. Beefy's is my 5th place to try. Local spot with character and plenty of seating inside and out with the combo of bar+bus+picnic tables. Lots of fans including mist fan outside to fight the heat. Bus feels spacious but seating is a bit cramped with tiny metal bench seats. Service was great but the place wasn't busy at all on a weekday mid afternoon after the typical lunch period. I noticed quite a few reviews mentioned the prices were high. And when I got the bill for $60 for two people with tax and tip I might have agreed, at first, especially if my main repeat burger joints were In-n-out/Wendy's/Jack-n-Box. But comparing to those places is not apples-to-apples. It's 1/3 lbs patties here (70% more than the just below 1/4 lbs of meat you get on a Double Double) and quite a step up in meat quality from those chains. About $16+ for single patty burger and $20+ for double, but that also includes fries and a drink. I get the feeling people complaining about the prices have to be burger addicts with the review perspective of a frequent In-n-Out patron which allows getting your "fix" more frequently on the average budget. Burger is high quality all around and they cooked them actually medium rare as ordered. Many places don't give a cook temp option or still overcook. Fries were great, better than the freezer burnt airy texture of In-n-Out. My only criticism is both the fries and the patty had too much salt but not to an inedible point. A common occurrence though given the cook's and/or typical frequent fast food eater's salt-desensitized palate. So Beefy's ties at #2 with The Parlor sitting between my #1 Royce and #3 Archie's, then #4 Juicy's. Armando & Sons and Barrio Burger are next. read more

Man, such a fantastic burger, the dudes in the kitchen know what's up! Service was excellent as well, from the young lady taking the order, to the cook himself bringing my plate, nothing to it! It wasn't just the burger that was delicious, man them fries were bangers all by themselves, and I don't usually give a 's about fries. Garlic Parmesan and they didn't need any type of dip, not ranch, ketchup or hot sauce. Piping hot, crisp, but not dried out, the burger..... juicy, hot, soft buns, crisp veggies. Mmmmmmm... First off I have to say that the burger was perfect. I ordered the breakfast burger. Cooked medium egg with over medium as requested, and the bacon was good. There's a place gets one star though because I didn't check the prices. When I arrive the guy charge $24.95 that's correct a burger, some tater tots and a drink. I was pretty put off by this, but just left thinking holy crap this place has gotten expensive. When I arrived home to eat my burger, I decided to look up the prices and there was a menu posted from last month by peter H. $12.50 for the breakfast burger. $6.99 to upgrade it to a combo. Total price $19.50 ...My price: $24.95. I even asked on the phone if they had a combo special he said yes they did and asked me what I wanted to drink. Even if I was charged separately, I find it hard to believe that a drink and tater tots is $12. This greasy spoon is a dive that is for sure- extremely cramped inside (we were in "the nook" and some other people sat down and put a stool in front of the only way we could get out which made me nervous of a grease fire breaking out heh). But honestly my burger and the fries were quite well prepared and the components of the burger were obviously fresh/ scratch made and well sourced (I would hope so, burger and fries is over $20 here). Glad I asked before I decided on what burger to try, as I was told the house sauce was a tartar sauce.. who puts tartar on a beef patty? Is it really a tartar sauce like gherkins and capers and tarragon? Or is it a mayonnaise with relish in it? Could you actually explain it if you work there? I don't know. There was only 4 people in the building total (2) being my friends and it took that long for one burger than after speaking to staff they got upset and said theres a 1 hour sign wait on doors. I am officially declaring Beefy's the best burger joint in Reno! My wife and I have been discussing over the past few months what the best burger joint is in Reno. This includes not only the quality of the burger (most important) but fries, location, service, selection, consistency, the full package! We have determined that Beefy's meets all the marks, and is now the top recommendation if anyone asks where they should go for the best burger in Reno. Pat the owner is a bit of a character and I always appreciate his attention to service and the personality he brings to the experience. A huge plus I found on my last visit, they have a new bus to expand their seating, which has always been a bit of a struggle since it's a small diner. The bus has bench type seating with a TV, heating and cooling, and some neat decor. On this last visit, I opted to splurge and got the Pot Belly Burger which was so good, with Bacon, Ham and Pastrami included. My wife went with the Nevadan and would rate it a great standard burger with cheese. The Parmesan fries were a nice treat and one basket was more than enough for us. Always good beers on tap, we both got a local IPA that was refreshing. If you are looking for an authentic Diner with the best Burger in town, stop by Beefy's and you won't be disappointed! read more

Beefy's was awesome (I say as a vegetarian, haha)! They were so accommodating to our large party and let us have the bus to ourselves. Despite the actual restaurant not being the kind of place, size-wise, where a large party should fit easily, the staff made sure we were able to get dinner there. We were a group of 12 celebrating my brother's graduation ceremony and they did a great job getting our order in and out to us in a timely manner. They also didn't make any mistakes with our orders which is really impressive because I think that can be difficult sometimes when ordering such a large quantity of food. Everyone in our party seemed super happy with the options available, this place is very accommodating diet-wise whether you choose to eat chicken, beef, or no-meat. I tried a chocolate-malt shake, the vaquero with a veggie patty and pepper jack cheese, and onion rings. Everything was absolutely delicious! The onion rings were the perfect amount of crispy and salty. The veggie burger was delicious, a little crisp and buttery-tasting, the fried jalapeños added a nice crunch and kick. We visited this place because my husband loves burgers, and I like fries. We sat inside without realizing they have these awesome bus tables outside. It's such a cool concept, having tables inside a bus! The atmosphere was really fun, with a nostalgic American vibe from the past. My husband, who's pretty picky about burgers, absolutely loved his. If you're looking for a good burger I definitely recommend Beefy's. Service is great, the restaurant is clean, and the food you order is exactly what you get with no surprises. The bus in front of the brick and mortar looks like a food truck, but it's been converted to sit and eat inside along the windows. The breakfast burger and mozzarella sticks were really good. Beefy's is my favorite burger spot in Reno (husband's fave too)! The menu has so many options and styles of burgers and are not overpriced. I like to keep it simple, but my husband likes a lot of extra stuff. I'm picky about the buns and Beefy's buns always taste fresh and the tomatoes don't make them soggy. Always fresh toppings as well. The beef patty is nice and thick and was cooked perfectly to my liking. Fries are ordered separately and shareable. The parmesan and herb fries are delicious with shredded parm and herb seasonings. You can also add fresh garlic. Very nice to eat at the picnic tables outside and they now have lots of extra seating in the back enclosed with heater/air conditioning. The staff were very friendly as well! I ordered the Patty Melt plain with my meat cooked medium, and it was super delicious! The sandwich was a good size. I was also a huge fan of the Garlic Parmesan fries. They had a generous amount of garlic, which I loved. One basket is a good size for two people. I couldn't stop eating them! My coworkers loved their burgers too. They all ordered medium as well, but they said it was a little more pink than what they would have liked. But mine was the right amount for me! Beefy's is a small spot, but with big flavor! The style of the place is very old school. We came around lunch and were lucky enough to snag one of the three picnic tables outside. It was nice to get a spot outside when the weather is nice! Came here because of this post. Fast service? That's funny! Unprofessional. Everyone else got an update on your their order but we had to ask for an update on the order? And it hasn't even hit the grill yet? My partner wanted to leave but we waited this fucking long; might as well just stay and don't tip them. A classic "hole in the wall" and I mean that in the best possible way. Beefy's is rich with ambience and history. Known for their burgers, it was high time we gave them a try. I ordered a bacon, Swiss burger, served as a combo with Tater Tots and a soda. The burger was amazing in every way. The buns were toasted to perfection, toasty yet still soft. How is this magic possible? The patty is cooked to order, then served with all the usual fixings. The Tater TOTs had a nice snap to the outside, shielding a warm fluffy potato tot on the inside. Just the right amount of salt. Our waitress was working. She was taking care of customers, bussing tables, all the while preparing sides for the incoming take-out orders. Way to hustle young lady. If I had one criticism, the burger was a touch on the greasy side. On one hand, it certainly as flavor and juiciness but on the other hand it made for a messy burger. Overall, well done Beefy's. Virginia St. keeping an eye out for Beefy's, you'll probably drive right by it. It's not big. It blends in with the surrounding buildings and, there's no dazzle-dazzle from the front to give its location away. Once I found Beefy's and some parking, we headed to the back-side of the restaurant since we had our dogs with us. Out back, they are five large picnic tables with umbrellas for shade or in our case, rain. Orders for drinks and meals were taken by our sever via an iPad and within 15 minutes, everything arrived at the table. The Food - I ordered the Pastrami Burger, medium rare and the wife ordered their Garlic Fries and a burger. My burger was fantastic. Cooked to order, juicy, favorable and the plus, not salty. The Garlic Fries were s=some of the best I've eaten. Cooked crispy and loaded with minced garlic. It didn't disapoint. SCENE: Beefy's is located at the corner of E. Arroyo St. and S. I went there after hearing about them on the news and when I walked in to order, I was told that they couldn't make the sandwich I wanted for my fiance because they were out of the meat, then they weren't out, but they had to cut it up. Smh. Not to mention that that meat was very thick sliced where it should have been thin on a Philly cheese steak. I ordered what was basically a western burger from Carl's Jr, but for some reason they thought it was a good idea to put thousand island on it as well?? Gross, and the menu said nothing about it. After years of wondering how it would be to eat at Beefy's, my husband and I finally had lunch here today! The artist in me loves its quirky, retro style - like something you would see in the middle of nowhere along Route 66. And I like that they offer some non-"beefy" items. My husband likes their reasonable prices, by today's standards. They have a few parking spaces in back and we were lucky to snag one of those. We walked up to a "please wait to be seated" sign but were greeted immediately and shown to an available outdoor picnic table. Although it was a hot day, each table has an umbrella and it felt cool in the shade with the breeze. Our server was quick and friendly. He told us that everything was available today except for shakes. Darn! My husband ordered the Green Horn Burger (comes with green chilis and pepperjack cheese) while I had Stacy's Green Eyed Monster (grilled cheese, with green chilis and avocado on sourdough). We also shared an order of garlic fries. We noticed that they have a burger called "Awesome, Awesome" which is obviously their answer to the former Reno staple, the Awful, Awful burger. My husband thought his burger was good, high praise for him! And I really enjoyed my sandwich! As for the fries, we both agreed that we have had better. Their Happy Hour is from 2-5 (wing specials and $1 off draught beers) and we noticed that most people there were taking advantage of it by having beer with their meals. Best burger in Reno with Royce a close second. Tops in town due to their quality and quantity of burgers offered compared to relatively few at Royce. Plus a very old school funky small diner location. Only place in town with a similar vibe is Carrillo's Cucina. Definitely would want to sit inside on any day that is warm as indoor seating is very limited. They're ordering system takes a while but once order is placed food comes out promptly. Would highly recommend to anybody wanting a burger in Reno. read more

They have a well developed burger menu with all the fixings plus all the sides and fried goods you could hope for. I ordered the Bacon bleu cheeseburger. Medium. It was perfectly cooked on a decent bun. I was very pkeased. Sidebar: a good burger needs a good bun. This bun was ok. Could have been better. Maybe even grilled. It sufficed but.... I got the onion burger and some chili cheese fries. Blew my taste buds away. I was really happy with the service the waitress was really nice and made sure I had everything I needed throughout my time in there.
