Came here for lunch and got their BBQ platter which comes with three meats and two sides. All theeat was tender and our favorite were the ribs which had good flavor. The chopped pork and brisket were okay, but we thought a lot of the flavor was carried from the BBQ sauce instead of the meat. The decor inside has that BBQ joint feel with some nice pig paraphernalia and Nevafa stuff. Shayla our server was very nice and courteous and made us feel right at home. My only critique involves another server who seemed very chatty with a couple who sat next to our table. She was talking with them a lot. She also made a comment after she noticed me taking photos of the inside saying "you can easily spot out the first timers." I think that's something a server should keep to themselves instead of mentioning it out loud. But that's me. I would've given this review 3.5 stars if I could just for that. But I'm giving it 4 because everything else was excellent. Would definitely come back again. read more

Ouch! First time at BJ's a couple years ago I had a fairly decent meal. Not great, not bad, but at least edible. This last time, a couple days ago, I was severely disappointed. Yes, the brisket was actually INEDIBLE! It was dry, tough, rubbery, tasteless. The only way I could even power a couple of bites down was soaking it in the BBQ sauce. At least the chicken I had with it was moist and had SOME flavor. I had the grits and cheddar as one side and it's like they put them in a food processor. Grits should be gritty, not smooth like paste ( I promise I don't eat paste). The Costco applesauce was the best thing I had. We literally had to go out to lunch again. I was on a trip in Reno for a week conference and one of my colleagues at the conference recommended BJ's in Reno, Nevada. I we went around 5:30 and sat down right away. The menu was given to us and the waitress was really nice and she recommend recommended some items so we decided to get the shareable and side of Whoop ass fries We also added two more cornbread, and I have to admit their barbecue sauce was really delicious. All their meat was very tender falling off the bone. It was absolutely delicious. The cornbread was very soft and was super moist and most cornbread are hard as a rock. The coleslaw and potato salad I really like a lot. I really love the potato salad because it didn't have a lot of pickles or a lot of mustard in it. It was really balanced and the same for the cole slaw. The service was wonderful the staff were so friendly. I really recommend this place if you're ever in Reno it is a family owned and the food is just really excellent. Side note that Guy Feri diners, drive-ins, and dives was on their wall. My husband was feeling like rib dinner so he went an got take away from BJ!s. We haven't done take out there for a while. It was $44 for a rack of ribs and 2 sides plus corn bread. I remember back in the day when I first started going there it was like $14.99. Times sure have changed. I wish the ribs were more tender, the pork wasn't falling off the bone, but flavorful with the medium sauce. We had the potato salad and coleslaw. I remember when the sides came in much larger containers. We received 3 small pieces of corn bread, which is so yummy! This place is a Reno institution, and if you haven't had their food, you're missing out. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable, perfect for a barbecue place. Everyone was really friendly. Our server, Kelsea, greeted us and took our drink order soon after we sat down. We both ordered one of the lunch specials that came with two ribs, a pulled pork slider, Kickass Fries, and a drink. It arrived quickly and was a lot of food. The ribs were meaty, the pork slider was overflowing with tender pulled pork, and the Kickass Fries were, well... kickass. If you've never had them, they're fries covered with a generous amount of pulled pork, BBQ sauce, and cheddar cheese, with sour cream on the side. If you order them off the main menu, they can also be customized several different ways. We were really happy with both the food and the service, and we'll definitely be back in the near future. read more

I've been in a few times and everything I've had is always delicious! The service is always exemplary and the atmosphere reminds me of a diner vibe. But, my favorite day to visit is always on Wednesday, which is their weekly Beef Ribs day! I love Beef Ribs and they're always difficult to find. This place does them well. First time to BJs did not disappoint! Easy to find parking in this lowkey building right off 80. We went on a Saturday and had no wait. Service was attentive and very prompt. We got the brisket pretzel and 3 meat sample platter. The pretzel was amazing, crispy, and the chopped brisket was tender. The brisket was the star of the 3 meat sample platter as well - the sides were fine (beans and sweet potato crumble) but the meat was the real star. Another first time try for me. Went in for dinnner. Had a great vibe walking in. Seated promptly and had our drinks. I chose the 2 meat platter with coleslaw and mashed potatoes n gravy. The meat was great. Especially the brisket. It just melted in my mouth. Coleslaw was crisp and creamy. The mashed potatoes were cold the gravy was hot. Nice bbq restaurant with lots of easy parking. Brisket and ribs were flavorful, but ribs could have had more meat and smoke to them. Sauce was a little too sweet for me. BBQ beans were fantastic, potato salad had great flavor, but unfortunately the potatoes were a little undercooked, so slightly crunchy. Really, really bad! That's how I would describe the food here at BJ's BBQ! My husband and I went on Saturday evening around 5 pm. There was a short wait; it was somewhat busy, but not as busy as it should have been for a Saturday night. I had the baked potato with the beef, and opted for the three-meat sampler. The potato was a good size with decent presentation, and perfectly made. The sampler seemed smaller, with very small meat portions--pulled pork, brisket, and finally pork ribs. I dug into my potato, which was cooked perfectly, but the brisket was all fat--I mean all fat. My husband's brisket was also all fat, along with large fat chunks in the pulled pork. I couldn't eat the pulled pork, so left pretty much the entire portion. The ribs were the top of the rack with four ribs; again, the top one was all fat, and the other three were pretty good. The dry rub could have used a bit more salt, but overall, it was tasty. The server was a bit annoyed when I shared my observation after the meal. I didn't want to say anything during the meal, as we didn't have time for the meat replacement to come out. Overall, I gave BJ's a two-star rating based solely on the food. The meal was quite expensive, making a second visit unlikely, so I probably won't be back. read more

We had lunch there today to get our fave calamaris. But the funny thing (and frustrating) , was they failed to deliver it as our appetizer because they had problems in the kitchen. Someone must have not put the tab or maybe it was forgotten. Appetizers are suppose to be served before your entree. Anyway, things happen and we've been there several times and it does not stop us from going there. I ordered Shrimp Scampi. It was pretty good, though i'm not a fan of angel hair. But having that aside, it was decent taste but i wished they'd marinated the shrimp or else it would not have so much taste when mixed with noodles. I say 7/10. read more

Had the pork belly appetizer and it was good. But the rest of the meal was mid. Mac and cheese was oddly flavored and at the same time bland. The brisket was inedible. The server was quick to replace the brisket with something else off the menu for us, so that was nice. Not as good as I remember it being. What a wonderful evening at BJ's barbecue in Sparks Nevada, they were nine of us in our waitress was beyond great. She made sure we had all our orders and in all our drinks and kept calming around to make sure everything was all right with us all the food that we had we all stated it was delicious the ribs, the salad that pulled pork sandwiches they had a potato with pulled pork, sour cream and the kids all ate it so we definitely book could be going back because the place was crowded but our service was still outstanding. My friend and I were wanting Corned beef being as though it was St. Patrick's Day . BJ's is a well known local favorite and I hadn't been here for a very long time. My friend practically lives on sandwiches so I trusted her judgement here. I have to admit I hadn't had a Corned Beef sandwich in a very long time. BJ's hadn't changed inside since I was there ions ago., which is fine. That down home Western theme works well with BBQ. We both ordered the Corned Beef on Rye which included a side, mine I ordered coleslaw and hers with fries. The waitress was very pleasant and provided us with extra napkins which we definitely needed. Our eyes popped out of our heads when the sandwiches arrived, they were generously piled with the beef on a nice marbled rye. It took a minute to cut it in half. And as I bit into it was tender and delicious. I spread on this great ground spicy mustard which made it even better. The coleslaw was really good with just the right balance of tart and sweet. Both of us could only finish half and Togo boxes were in order. I will make a comment about the price, over $20 dollars for that sandwich, but It definitely was enough for two meals and we both left extremely satisfied. read more

Great choice for your next BBQ meal. Ample parking is available. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. There are lots of options on the menu. The prices were fair for the amount of food we got. My husband and I went for lunch. We sat at the bar and had prompt friendly service. We placed our order and the server said the the food would be right out. She wasn't kidding!! We got our hot, delicious food within what seemed just a few minutes after we ordered. My husband ordered the Crazy Ass platter and I ordered a Pulled Pork sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes. Pretty good local BBQ joint with nofrill and friendly service. It's popular with locals and the ribs are tasty. I chose the hot sauce and it's not spicy at all. The ribs are moist and tender so no complaints there. I'm glad they have the option to order ribs only with no sides because I typically don't care for the sides in most BBQ places. The price is decent. The place looks like a decent BBQ place with a large parking lot. The atmosphere is lively even on a Tuesday night because of the locals. Tuesday is the tri tip day but I couldn't try it because I really can't stuff anymore food after 7 ribs. The service is fairly friendly with prompt ordering and water refill so absolutely no complaints there. I tried the tritip sandwich with was good. Personally, I wasn't impressed with the bbq sauce, but I'll give it another shot. The meat was well cooked and good. I enjoyed the sides, especially the sweet potato crunch! Try this if you like enjoy sweets. Really enjoyed the restaurant setting and environment. Felt right at home for a western style restaurant. The server was friendly but slow to take our order. I don't think this reflects the restaurant as much as it does the situation/server. Fantastic Experience from Start to Finish! This was our first time here, and we had a great experience from beginning to end. We arrived on a Friday at dinner time with a group of six adults and two children. Despite the busy hour, we were seated within five minutes, and our food arrived in about 15--impressive!
