Our server Eddie and Tovar Maitre d', such attentive service! Eddie was very easy to talk to and we always ask questions just to enjoy the individual varied responses that we get. He was cool as a cucumber and said I picked the two most popular dishes i asked him about, the Chilean Sea-bass bass coming in first and prime rib a close second. He had a nice lighthearted manner. He recommended the Chilean Sea-bass and if you followed my reviews you know this one of my favorite dishes, I've tried to replicate the beautifully perfectly browned finish at home but to no avail,, I figured much easier to have the pros do it! This time the very different the addition was the lobster stuffed squash blossom, I have to say deliciously fried surprisingly light I enjoyed the crunch of the exterior but not so much the filing, the pieces of lobster and cannelloni beans nicely seasoned, enjoyed the sea bass but could only eat half as the bread was so delicious I couldn't stop!. The other dish lamb chops but the highlight of this dish is that you could order instead of mashed potatoes for $3.00 more you could get a baked potato with the works! See the pic, this was no ordinary spud this was a very large potato! If you fly into Reno we enjoy the newly remodeled rooms at Atlantis their spa is comprehensive with the fitness center, hair salon and indoor pool next door. We always stay a day or two for the spa or food before starting the trek up the hill to Lake Tahoe. Napa Bistro is hidden on the second floor around the corner from the arcade. I have always loved going to Bistro Napa at the Atlantis. The food has always been excellent, and you can't beat the price. And I've recommended it to many friends. However, recently, I've heard some people say it wasn't as good as it used to be . I was there last night. My cocktail was excellent. The flatbread was excellent. But I was totally disappointed in the clams. They were extremely salty, and in my opinion, they needed more butter and wine less salt. And, they were a little chewy. Perhaps since we didn't get there until 5:15, they were cooked early and left on simmer, continuing to cook. I really don't know. I usually order a basket of bread to go with it because the sauce is what makes so good. I ate the bread with butter because it was just too salty. The menu has also changed a bit. Went here for their famous happy hour. It was packed! We ended up waiting about 20 min and got seats at the bar. The service was excellent and all of the bartenders were great. I absolutely love the Happy Hour at Bistro Napa Restaurant in the Atlantis Casino (Floor 2 near the Grand Ballroom)!!!! I come here for any special occasion like birthdays, anniversaries family visitors from out of town, end of summer vacation, whatever! The food is exceptional. The menu updates periodically but many favorites have been around for a long time. I ordered the Manila Clams and the Korean BBQ ribs and the Sexy Fries. Never disappoints. The drink specials are incredible! One could easily pay $18-25+ somewhere else for the BoxCar Willie or the Samurai Sour or any other Bistro Signature Cocktails. I have certainly enjoyed the Bistro Classic Cocktails such as the Moscow Mule or Hibiscus Manhattan. Terrific!!! The service is professional, proficient and personable. The drinks are always great. No issues really ever. West is also a fun bartender. I wish the food menu offered a tad more Gf dishes, they've changed the menu quite a few times over the last couple of years and there are some things that haven't left, but I really miss a taco option. They were pork then they had shrimp or maybe the other way around but now none at all. They still have sexy fries which are yummy. They do have a gluten free crust for flatbread and when I had it the first time it was really good but the next two times it was undercooked. I also don't want pizza every time I come. I came here to celebrate my birthday and I wish the experience was better. There were a few issues with the main dishes that we ordered. The Kansas City Ribeye: I had split this plate with my husband and the server said that he'll have them precut the meat before serving. Big mistake. We saw our steak was sitting under the heat lamp for maybe 10-15 mins before it came to our table and once it arrived it came out really dry and tough to chew because the juices seeped out while under the lamp. The Steak & Frites: This dish was for my daughter and I had ordered it medium so that it wouldn't be too red for her. It came out medium rare so she couldn't really eat it. The Burger (To-Go): So we wanted to order the burger to-go for a friend of ours and I'm not sure why the server had put in the order the same time as our dine in-order because usually the server would put in the to-go order ticket before we would we be finished and have it ready by the time we pay. Our server told us that the to-go order was ready and under the heat lamp to keep warm until we were done with our food. That's atleast 30mins waiting under the heat lamp. When we gave the burger to our friend, he said the burger was really dried out. The only things we did enjoy was the calamari and the jumbo crab chowder. It was really such a disappointment because you pay so much money to dine here and you would think the food would be worth the money you pay for. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for me. I've been hearing about this place for yearssss It's hard not to call it "Napa Bistro" because that just seems easier to say but no matter what you call it- they have the best happy hour I've seen in ages. Went back for happy hour this time trying different menu items than last time. Pleased to report the chefs selection flatbread that day with hot honey jalapeño was perfection, super crispy and light, great flavor combo, would be incredible as a permanent item on the menu. The flatbreads are great value and bang for your buck. The drinks are super strong and yummy and creative, the strawberry caprioska tasted exactly like strawberries so refreshing and I liked the samurai sour it had some complexity and smoky texture to it. Some things I didn't like were there were only 3 tiny meatballs in the meatball dish, and the ahi tuna was like air four thin slices. The mussels dish was delish, broth was so tasty (of course anything with that much butter would be great), but wish they gave more garlic bread for it. The ribs were tender but a little cold, very tasty sauce on those. Now that I know what to order and what's good on the menu I'll be more likely to come back for happy hour! read more

She usually orders fish. But she said it was cooked well to her medium request. Pork Chop - Over cooked. Sub baked potato for $3.50 more. The baked potatoes were small, so they gave two. And baked potatoes were also over-baked. See pictures. Elk Chop - My buddy recommended that I try this. I was thinking between this or my usual ribeye or prime rib. The waiter also said to go for it. Sorry, I regret getting this. My dish was over cooked also. The waiter recommended rare, I asked for Medium rare but I think it came medium... Decent portions, but was not able to finish all my veggies. Lastly, my other buddy got the salmon which was also over cooked. And so small of a portion. I was a big fan of the wild mushroom pizza, the earthy goodness of the mushrooms on melted cheese is a winner for me every time. We went on a Friday so it was busy from he get go and we had to wait about and hour for the first wave to start heading out. In the meantime we went to the bar and ordered drink and my experience started string here. I ordered a Samurai Sour and this is now one of my favorite drinks. There was four of us so when we were seated we decided to go a little crazy and ordered a ton of different things. You can see everything I ordered in my pictures but want to callout my top dishes, which is hard because everything was so good! But if I had to choose some as my fave for sure the Asian Ribs, Sliders, and Oysters were up there. The service was great. The bartender and servers were all great and made sure they would clean out used dishes to make room for all the food that came coming. And of course I ordered a couple more Samurai Sours. Came in excited to try the prix fixe special for Reno Food Week. Pictures show what was advertised vs what we received. We left fairly disappointed. First course of Scottish eggs: eggs were cooked unevenly, some parts medium boiled and some extra hard. Heavy on the side salad dressing. Second course: duck breast was heavily overcooked, resulting in a high iron taste resembling chicken liver. Meat was very tough. Sauce for duck was extremely sweet. Side salad was heavily under seasoned. Third course: desert samplers. These were okay. I'd say it prioritized sweetness over quality. The samplers remind me of the kind of deserts you'd see at a lower-end buffet. Server was nice but very slow to take our order, despite the lack of a crowd. Restaurant comped part of our meal since the duck was unacceptable. While they handled the matter professionally, this shouldn't have been on the menu in the first place. I cannot stress enough how much I discourage visiting this restaurant. read more

The chef's special flatbread was a Philly cheese steak type. It was honestly just okay. We've had their other flatbreads and they are very good so I am basing my opinion off of that. Social hour at Easter Napa is becoming a family tradition! We love the thrill of a hunt for a table and the great food and drink and service that follows when we snag one! Truth is my parents who live in Florida really love coming here when they visit and it really is a treat to watch the kids enjoy all of the delicious food in front of them. On the food side, we can't go without the Asian glaze ribs, fried calamari, woodfired artichoke hearts, and of course, the signature sexy fries. This time through though we had to sample some new items, including the butternut squash, ravioli, and the octopus and shrimp ceviche, both of which were wonderful additions to our array. The lobster mac was rich, creamy, and indulgent without being too heavy. For dinner, we ordered the blackened Wild Pacific prawns, the Dungeness crab ravioli with pea tendrils, caviar, and beurre blanc, and the Bistro Cioppino. Every dish was full of flavor, but the cioppino truly stood out. It was packed with fresh fish, king crab, clams, shrimp, and scallops in a spicy tomato saffron broth that was comforting and delicious. Forever impressed with bartender west, he created an empress gin gimlet cocktail that was to perfection upon giving him craft freedom. He is phenomenal and attentive and a good jokester if you have a couple dad jokes in your arsenal to fire back. The food was delectable, the oysters juicy and buttery and to die for (although I haven't had oysters in a year and a half since pregnancy and breast feeding). This was such a nice treat! Also shout out to Greg who made our experience extra enjoyable by offering not only service but also playful banter, what a guy and a joy. We go to the Atlantis a lot but we haven't been to Bistro Napa for a while. We were able to get a table on Monday and had a wonderful meal. My mom and I both had the bacon-wrapped scallops and it was an incredible dish. The scallops were cooked perfectly as was the bacon. They were served on a bed of "Potato hash" which is really smashed Yukon-gold potatoes, and included some delicious artichokes. The menu said there was truffle but I just expected some truffle oil like most places, but there were actually a lot of black truffles on the scallops. A nice surprise! They have some nice desserts on the menu but they give you a big bowl of cotton candy at the finish plus some banana bread to take home, so we didn't get the desserts. We did have some perfectly made Americanos though. Eddie was our server and he did an amazing job taking care of us. One of the things I haven't liked about this place in the past is that it is kind of dark. This time it seemed brighter in there, maybe because it was early evening and still bright out. But it is nice and elegant and a great atmosphere. One thing I'm not sure about is the drink menu - which is now on iPads. While it is interesting to read more about the wines, it's kind of a pain to use it, especially just for wines by the glass. I'd probably rather have a printed list. read more

Often a place for a nice night out or celebrating a special occasion. On this night, it was the latter for us, celebrating my wife's birthday with a few friends. The restaurant is warm and welcoming. The staff, whether it is the busboys or wait staff, are helpful and welcoming. Always ready to assist. We started our evening wtih some appetizers. Since the mains are generous in portion, we opted to order only the Calamari and Crab Cakes for starters. The Crab Cakes were solid. Prepared well with a rich taste of crab and served with a delicious, creamy sauce. The star of the first service, however, was the Calamari. This had to be the best Calamari I have ever had. The pieces were meaty, yet tender. The breading was crunchy, not doughy. The pieces were like chicken tenders in size as opposed to the the normal "ringlets" you often see. A true hit around the table. For the mains, there was a variety of both land as well as seafood based proteins. 3 of our guests, including my wife, opted for the Short Ribs. A solid choice served with a generous portion of Short Rib, served on a bed of potatoes and accompanied with some root vegetables. While a perrenial choice amongst guests, tonight the Short Rib was a little dry. Perhaps the result of the particular cut of beef. When accompanied with the delicious sauce, the meal was still delicious, yet with an asterick preventing perfection. Another guest opted for the Cioppino. Wearing a beautiful white blouse, this was a bold selection. :-) Our friend asked that the plate be "pre-shelled" otherwise the seafood is served shelled. The seafood was delicious and the broth was cooked to perfection. Yes, no harm befell our friends blouse. The final two dishes were the Shrimp with Crab Ravioli and Bacon Wrapped Scallops. First the Shrimp. My friend enjoyed the blend of flavors brought by the shrimp and crab filled ravioli. Served with Pea Tendrils and Tsar Nicolai Caviar, then accompanied by Beurre Blanc cream sauce. It was the perfect blend of flavors. On this night, I chose the Scallops. A dish I enjoy yet don't order nearly enough. The dish was served with 4 very large scallops, grilled to perfection and wrapped with the most delicious, yet sweet bacon. The tenderness of the scallops, with just a touch of char from the grill, complemented by the robust flavor of the bacon, with just a hint of sweetness was truly glorious. I opted for sauteed spinach, where as the dish is normally served with artichoke as the vegetable. The dish is served on a bed of Yukon Gold Potato Hash and complimented with a creamy Truffle-Chive Beurre Blanc sauce. We finished the evening with a solid round of desserts. My wife received the Strawberry Shortbread and the Cotton Candy, as a gift from the restaurant to celebrate her birthday. We ordered the Bistro Banana Split served with Bruléed Bananas, Housemade Cinnamon Ice Cream, Caramel Corn, Fresh Berries, topped with a Caramel Sauce. We also ordered the Apple Crumble Cake, a dish prepared with Almond Crunch, accompanied with both a Caramel Sauce and Chocolate Ganache, topped with a Puff Pastry Tuile. Based on how clean the plate was afterward, I would say this was a hit. I ordered the Creme Brulee. I'm a bit of a Creme Brulee connoisseur. Another solid delivery, the dish was flavorful, creamy with the right amount of sweetness from the sugar crust. Oh, I almost forgot, we also ordered the New York Style Cheesecake. This is one of the best Cheesecakes you can have, outside of Manhattan. You can also find the Cheesecake at the Manhattan Deli, adjacent to the casino floor if you are looking just for dessert.
