The vibes in this establishment are so good due to the owner's personalities. Their wine selection is over the top! And one of the owners is a sommelier and very knowledgeable about their wines. Their food choices are pretty good small plate options. There is a pizza place near called "Smiling with Hope" and they will deliver pizza to the bar. Highly recommend this business! That's all. read more

Black Rock Wine Co absolutely nails that rare balance between elevated and approachable. From the moment you walk in, the space sets the tone with a modern industrial design, warm wood accents, soft lighting, and an open, airy layout that invites you to slow down and stay awhile. The long tables lined with bottles feel almost like a curated gallery, and the garage-style doors let in natural light that makes the whole place feel alive without being loud or overwhelming. What really stands out is how intentional everything feels, especially the wine list. It is handwritten on a large chalkboard, which gives it a relaxed, neighborhood vibe, but the selection is thoughtful and globally inspired. You will find a mix of Old World staples and boutique producers alongside well-chosen California options. The list includes everything from crisp Picpoul and Bordeaux Blanc blends to approachable Pinot Noir, Malbec, and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with more unique offerings like Loire Valley blends and Spanish varietals that show they are not just playing it safe. The pricing is another highlight. Most glasses land in the $9 to $15 range, which feels more than fair for the quality. They even offer a carafe option, about two and a half glasses, which is perfect for sharing and encourages you to settle in and enjoy the experience rather than rush through it. The atmosphere is exactly what you want in a wine bar. It is relaxed, conversational, and effortlessly refined. It is the kind of place where you can catch up with friends, go on a date, or simply unwind and end up staying longer than you planned. What truly made our visit exceptional was our server, Kate. She went above and beyond in every way. She was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the wines, and genuinely warm in her approach. She made thoughtful recommendations, checked in at the right moments, and created an experience that felt personal rather than transactional. It is clear she cares about what she does, and it made a great environment feel even better. Black Rock Wine Co is not trying too hard, and that is exactly why it works. It is curated, welcoming, and just the right level of elevated. We will absolutely be back. read more

Been to Blackrock a few times. Came here with some friends and the babies. Folks here are very accommodating and had no issues with the little ones. We ordered pizza from Smiling with Hopes next door and were allowed to bring it in and have a late lunch. Blackrock even provided plates and napkins since the pizza guy forgot them. Wine selection is decent and was recommended a very good Rose wine. Glad they had soft drinks for our non drinkers. Only thing to improve on, better chairs. read more

My husband and I tried Black rock wine for the first time last Thursday evening and we loved everything about it! We've frequented many of the shops near here and drive by it often living so close and we're so happy to have this wine shop with a unique selection of great wine & wonderful outdoor seating with open air bar in the warm months. We both had a glass of rosé, and I had a spritzer for my second glass option, which was a wonderful unique blend of summer flavors and very refreshing. They have some great appetizer selections as well and even had live music this evening that added to the experience. The owner or manager and staff were friendly behind the bar and welcoming. The only hard part was ordering the wine or getting served this day as they were very busy and just knowing where to go to place the orders or where it was best to not be in the way. That part could've ran a bit smoother .. but on a crowded night, we understood. Will be back for more date nights and outings, and can't wait to try more of their wines or a tasting. We particularly liked the sunday special option that was listed as a two for one type tasting option with an appetizer I believe - what a great way to 'wine down' the weekend. read more

Blackrock Wine - Wonderful outdoor seating with lively music and a glass of their rosé wine with a spritzer special. - Wine Bars Near Me - Reno, Nevada

I have been coming to Blackrock Winery, since they first opened by coming to a girls New Years eve champagne tasting. I feel in love with the aesthetics and vibe of the establishment, friendliness of the staff and owners and just overall great time. We had so much fun that our group came a second year during the big blizzard and I remember enjoying the variety of champagnes from all over the world plus the charterie boards available. I haven't seen a friend in a long time and suggested some places and Blackrock was her choice. We came on a late Friday afternoon and we were one of a few tables. The owner was very friendly and attentive. I was excited to see the menu options and the wide variety of spritz highlighted on the board. I settled with one of the spritzs and ordered Le Couchon which consisted of ham, caramelized onion jam and balsamic drizzle as well as a chicken pesto empanada type of bite. Everything was wonderful and boy by the time we finished up the business was booming. We were bummed to not be able to enjoy the outside scenery due to the rain but just another reason to come back. My friend stated she does her dry cleaning at the center but had no idea. Also, from the past I saw people ordered boxes of pizza from Smiling with hope, so win win with great drinks, small bites available and having options to bring outside food in as well. Looking forward to my next venture in to sample more great drinks and bites. read more

What a great find! Blackrock Wine has surely made my list of go-to spots in central Reno. Located in a shopping center off of Lakeside and Mccarren, Blackrock Wine has a great selection of by the glass, by the bottle, and to-go wines. The selection is unique and well priced. The decor is beautiful and the wine is well presented. They also have some beer options and canned cocktails for non-wine drinkers. My only complaint of our visit is that we ordered the duck rillete from the amazing food options. Unfortunately, about 10 minutes after we ordered, we were informed they were out of duck. We ended up having the smoked salmon board which was presented gorgeously and was delicious. I will certainly be back at Blackrock for wine and delicious bites sometime soon. I think this spot makes a great date spot, late afternoon meet up, or pre- and post- dinner drink option. Enjoy! read more

Went for their Malbec October tasting - it was so delightful and had lovely paired snacks! The location was very cute and had a great patio.

Cute and cozy but also offers outdoor seating! We went there on a Saturday afternoon right when they opened so they weren't busy but by the time we left they were really picking up. That's nice to see so hopefully they will be around for a long time. You can get certain wines by the glass or buy a bottle and enjoy! They also offer a few drafts as well as canned cocktails. We ended up purchasing a few bottles to take home. Go check them out!! read more

My homeowners association hosted an event here this evening. I have never been here to Black Rock Wine Company, and it was a delightful experience. We sampled a Chardonnay, a Spanish red, and a Madera. Oh, we're excellent and I went home with the Spanish red and the Madeira. The food was basically charcuterie plates with hummus, and mozzarella. Blackrock Wine Co. delivers an excellent date night experience. Their cheese board features a range of quality cheeses that pair beautifully with the included fruits, nuts, crackers, and chocolates. They had so many wines to choose from! We ended up choosing the Rosé and Pinto Gris. The Rosé we had was refreshingly crisp and well-balanced, bringing out the flavors of the cheese board impressively. We also tried the Pinot Gris, which delighted us with its clean, crisp taste. The ambiance of Blackrock Wine Co. was inviting and the service was top-notch, further enhancing our overall experience. Been looking for a new wine bar to try out and, as usual, we headed over to Yelp to see where to go and we are so happy we came here. The wine selection is different, not the standard, big winery choices so many others seem to gravitate towards. The selections in both the Red wine and White wine category was global. While my first glass wasn't my favorite, the second one was. My wife, as always, got two really good glasses. The atmosphere was bright and cheery as well which is a nice contrast to a few other places in town. To top it off, the owner couple were really great to talk to and very welcoming. To top things off, they had a really nice selection of appetizers and charcuterie boards. Since we like to try different things, we tried the duck rillet which was divine as well as being filling. Will definitely be coming back again to try some new offerings. read more

I recently visited Blackrock Wine on a Wednesday evening with a friend. We had a great time! They offer a huge selection of wine by the bottle and a good selection of wine by the glass. They don't keep a menu of their wine on hand because the wines change and rotate often. I did feel a little overwhelmed trying to pick a bottle. Well ultimately picked a new barbera they had and we were not disappointed. Blackrock also has a wine club that you can be a part of. This place is in a great location and their charcuterie board was over the top. I'll definitely be back! read more

Wanted to taste some wines during my visit from California. Blackrock was recommended and my sister who lives in Reno has seen this place and wanted to try it. We didn't make any reservations and decided to take our chances walking in. We got there on a Saturday around 4:15 and there were plenty of open tables. It took a bit for someone to acknowledge us and when someone finally did, I stated that we were interested in a flight. The only one they had available was a flight of French reds. It was 3 pours for $13. All 3 came out at once with a little strip of paper showing which one was which. We weren't offered any information about the wines, the food, the menu or anything. There is a food menu but we were headed to dinner afterwards so we skipped it but the charcuterie boards looked amazing! They also offer some small bites. We were checked in with once inquiring if we wanted to eat anything. Other than that no one came over to see how we were doing, asked how we liked anything or to see if we were interest in any glasses of anything. I had to walk up to close out so we could make dinner. Normally I would understand if it were busy but it really wasn't and there were two people working. The wines were just okay, but not good enough to recommend or purchase a bottle. The food looked appetizing but there wasn't anything about this visit that made me want to return. read more

Went here for a Ladies Night Out .. each of us enjoyed a Flight of that weeks featured wines. Most were pretty good. Also ordered most of the appetizers they have to offer. I think the Charcuterie Board was the best. The next time we'll order the Charcuterie with meats and pass on the others. Don't get me wrong the others were good too. Very broad wine selection. Featured wine of the week. And they are planning on having outdoor music. They are located next to where Simon's was and is now going to be a Big Horn (same as Big Horn on 7th Street) and they will share the outdoor space and music. Definitely a great place to go, sit back, enjoy a snack and a good glass of wine while listening to live music. read more

I like this place. I visited Blackrock the first time in January and it was quiet for a Saturday night. We shared a flight of reds at a tall table then each enjoyed a glass. I saw that dogs were allowed inside which was okay by me since there were only a couple people inside. The man running the bar was very friendly and knowledgeable with the wines he poured. I guess he and his fiancé own and run the show. I recently went back for a second time last Friday. They had live music which was super cool and catchy, it was pretty packed. Us three girls sat at the bar and had superb service. I love the wine varietals and range of options they have to choose from on the blackboard as well as in the shop to purchase by the bottle. They've got great taste and similar taste as myself. This will be a new bar I'll be going back to on the regular with friends. Yay for Blackrock! read more

Oops, did we close the bar ? Wanting a night out with friends, this was actually my backup. It turned out to be a fabulous spot. This fairly new wine bar is located to the right of Simon's in a strip mall. Plenty of parking. A large patio that I can't wait to sip on next summer. Several seating choices inside. Plus..........a large selection of reds on display and a huge walk in fridge for whites and bubbles. Not a wine drinker? Why not ? Are you crazy? If not, there are two large coolers with canned and bottled beer selections. The snack menu offers a nice nibble selection. Pâté, cheese board, charcuterie, salmon and some dipped to enjoy with your wine. I didn't notice any background noice. Once we were sipping and talking, it felt like we were the only ones there. But all the tables were full. I thought the red choices were pretty good and varied. I was surprised to see a couple from the Languedoc area of France, a Greek wine and many Italians. Also present were several familiar Californians. The prices were great !! Check all around the bar before making a decision. There were a couple of mix and match sales that came to $10 a bottle when purchasing just 3 bottles. Excited to see a wine bar back in this neighborhood location. Will be be very soon. read more

LOVE this place!!!! First time but will not be my last time. I recognized zero of the wines they carry! I love that. It's fun to try new wineries that you don't come across anywhere else. Friendly staff. We went on a Wednesday and it was hopping! But all the employees we came across were very friendly. I knew I want a flight to start off and I told to them to just bring whatever they suggested... great choice!! The red they brought me was a varietal I've never heard of before but would definitely drink again. The Riesling was great-got a glass after I finished my flight. We ordered crostini but sadly they ran out of it. Just means we'll have to come back!!!!! read more

I had a wine night with a friend here a few weeks ago and it was such a lovely night! Blackrock Wine Co might be tucked away in a residential strip mall, but don't let the location fool you--this place is great. The space is small-ish but bright, clean and relaxed. They have a large wine menu, as well as beers, and a bunch of appetizers. We got a few glasses of wine and 3 appetizers: goat cheese with oil, pintxos and a salmon plate. I felt like everything was done really well and all were a great pairing for the wine. I had never had pintxos but my friend had studied abroad in Spain and she vouched they were good and I now agree! The saltiness paired with the peppers and bread is a great combo. I think this is a perfect spot for after work drinks/happy hour and is a great addition to this area of town! read more

Kind of a bummer posting this. Start off by saying Blackrock is a great neighborhood wine bar. Good selection, always something new and the small plates pair with the wine perfectly. That being said the landlord recently posted no dog signs across the property. Shame as there is a perfect patio for dogs, which we've enjoyed. Told it was due to a dog fight between other businesses but Blackrock and neighbor are taking the hit. Bummed as we now need to find another wine bar that allows dogs - Skyline always a great option. read more

My friend and I try to meet up somewhere for cocktails, snacks, and laughs at least once a week. While the usual places are great, she discovered this new place while googling wine bars. After checking out the bites online, we were both a little worried that our, not working today, shorts and t-shirts wouldn't cut it here. We were there early, before the much better dressed clientele arrived, so it all worked out. The wine selection was good, and our server was super friendly with great suggestions! My friend tried a couple of different wines, I stuck with my usual Cabernet. We ordered the Duck Rillette Toast, and it was delicious! I love, love, love, fancy charcuterie boards, and their menu has a list. Can't wait to come back for more wine and snacks!! read more
