The best local's dive bar in Reno! Great drinks, bartenders, community, and events. Love the covered patio area.

It's hard to find a place with a good chill vibe these days but 40 mile is that! I felt like the bartender was super attentive and on top of everything. I appreciate his effort to find me a whiskey that I like and was super patient with me. Mikey is one of my favorite people that works here! read more

Kids were away doing some sports functions. I ran into an old friend at the chapel and he talked me into coming over here. Actually quite a few people at the chapel showed up here. It's a nice bar, the music was good. Definitely lots of people roaming around and great for social time. It's been years since I've just been to a bar to talk and drink. It was definitely a lot of fun. People were buying drinks for everyone, shots, shots... And yes more shots. I actually had to sneak out after the third or fourth drink was bought for me as I don't think my wife would enjoy me happen to leave my vehicle, getting an Uber, because I was drunk... I ended up making it home by 3 AM. I know I'm not in college, but it felt just like the good old college days lol read more

A good bar. 40 Mile Saloon is one of the cheapest. In my opinion that's what counts the most. Good drinks. The recommendations are rum or whiskey. It's a pretty unassuming bar. It's located in the southern area of Midtown. There's not as much happening around here and therefore this bar is a lot quieter. Has only drinks. That's okay. You can find a few nearby places to eat before coming here to quench your thirst. Because it's a saloon, why not get something Western inspired. The best options are something with rum or whiskey. A typical cocktail is about $5 with the house liquor. That's cheaper than many of these fancy places. Best place to get cheap drinks. It has many different kinds of beer, domestic and import. The best drinks are the hard stuff though. read more

If you're looking for a cozy dive bar, look no further! Stopped in for an afternoon cocktail and was not disappointed. Good drinks, friendly staff, and a bar full of patrons laughing and conversing. And to top it off the prices and daily drink specials were pretty great!! It was nice to catch some ice hockey on the TV as well. Will definitely be visiting this place again. read more

The #1 late night bar in Reno. Great prices, lots of options (unless you drink wine), and generally an awesome crowd. It is apparently a dive bar, but arguably, it's much nicer than a dive. No food, but you can have some delivered. The pool table is nice and well maintained, and the heaters outside make for good patio seating year round! read more

The weirdest business interaction ever. Driving around enjoying the beauty of the classic cars on an action packed Hot August Night, trying to find a great drink spot with an outdoor to take in the cruisers on a Friday night, I had this bar on my radar for a long time. However, walking into the bar was not a very welcoming feeling. There appeared to be two staff behind the bar we went to the side (right) nearest of where we entered. Looking at the wall menu, and taking in all of the specials. No greeting from the male attendant right in front of us, as he wiped glasses and took his time for what appeared forever (maybe approximately 6-8 minutes). I never felt so unwelcome in a place of business. I tugged on my friend's shirt and said "let's go somewhere else," when he pointed out that the bartender on the opposite end came to take our drink order. I ordered one of the specials, which was kind of sour and acidy. I enjoyed the patio area but was not enjoying the overall vibe here. Definitely so many other places to enjoy where it's not an unwelcoming feeling walking in and providing business. read more

I came in with friends unsure of the vibes but Dawn really made it a night. as a service industry person- I really appreciate having a bartender like her, she is so attentive and made me feel like I was just out w a bestie rather than drinking at a bar. 40 mile is a great spot to go have a drink! I'm a beer guy and am always surprised by their rotating cans they offer. A classy, cozy dive. Loved it. Always wanted to go inside after years of driving or walking by and I finally did on a Wednesday night. First we got Thai food at Moo Dang, duh, then walked around the corner to warm up at 40 Mile Saloon, so happy we did. Super down to earth and extremely friendly bartender. I want to say his name was Joe. He was more than generous in letting us sample their brews on tap, which was a small but good selection. I went with the dry cider from Vermont. Joe put out salty bar snacks midway thru and engaged in good conversation with us, he also bought us and everyone at the bar an Underberg because he noticed my dates last name was Berg from the credit card transaction. What a cool experience, I'd be down to hit up 40 Mile Saloon any day, heck I'd even walk 40 miles to have a beer there. read more

Service was terrible. Treated me and my partner like trash because he hasn't known us since high school and was very rude :(( would recommend staying away from the balding, overweight, middle aged white bartender. Highly pretentious. read more

When we (@hutchietheband) showed up to play a show at 40 mile saloon we didn't really know what to expect because it seemed like a small and awkward place for bands to play, but within an hour we were already thoroughly impressed. The staff were super accommodating (we got a band tab - which hardly anyone does anymore). Great draft beer selection, video poker, patio and the overall vibe was really friendly and positive. The bartender was efficient making shaken drinks with fresh squeezed juice - we still never had to wait more than a minute or two for a drink. The owner even took time to personally introduce himself and buy some of our merch to help us out on the road. We would definitely play there again! Thanks to Chris Fox and Boss' Daughter for putting it together! read more

40 Mile Saloon - Boss' Daughter live at 40 Mile Saloon - Pubs Near Me - Reno, Nevada

I have been to this place 4x now, every other spot in town will allot you a drink or two while gambling, note: I don't just put 20 bucks in & expect free drinks, I play with a few hundred dollars, have 2-3 drinks, usually lose, tip the bartender & leave. they have charged me for every drink I've ever ordered & comp'd nothing. Bartenders, as stated in other reviews, have a bunch of drunk regulars that they tend to & then pay very little attention to the first timers or every once and a while folk. I won't be back read more

Super small place! I've been twice recently and couldn't even be Acknowledge by the bar tender! Needless to say I left and not sure I will be back. read more

Small bar on a busy street. The Yelp's Annual Whiskey Hunt brought the girls and me here on a Friday night. Twenty patrons is good, any more and the quaint bar becomes packed. There a couple of tv's to watch your sports on. Bartender was nice to everyone- his regulars and us newbies. He did a great job at explaining the whiskey flight. I believe whiskey was probably his passion. In warmer weather there is a small patio on the north side of the building. Not much parking nearby. I didn't tell you, but if you're careful you can park across the street at the small shopping center. read more

November 10, 2018 Saturday - 2:30 PM for a beer 2 Adults Atmosphere - 4 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 5 stars Background - Lead Dog and Revision created a beer together, Moro Oro a Milkshake IPA, and the release party was here. Atmosphere - I think most people would call it a dive bar. I see rawness, bricks, wood rafters, and a steel beam with the tap list on it. I loved the vibe of the place. Eight beer taps plus a bottle list on the wall right of the bar. Food Drink - I had the Moro Oro, the reason I was here. My wife said it looked like orange juice. Moro Oro is a milk shake IPA with a focus on the blood red oranges with a hint of blueberries. Oh it was juicy, the milkshake part of the beer makes a great mouth feel. Service - What you need, a friendly bartender. Of course I talked with Ryan from Lead Dog and Jeremy from Revision. This was the third day of their beer party releases. They started their tour near the Camp Fire area, so sad. Future - I would come back. read more

Great bar with amazing cocktails without the cost of midtown cocktail prices. Definitely recommend this place. Also, has a pool table and outside seating. We recently went when they had live music. I can't remember the name of the band. But they were awesome. The place was packed. read more

Im sure this is a great place. But I have a huge problem with a bar that lets regular patrons (who clearly have a drinking problem) sit and drink for over 8 hours without asking them to leave and only to keep serving them drinks. This place is pretty much the best most special place EVER!! It's soooo down home with good vibes and all the bartenders rock - especially Mike B.!!!!! It's the old Mr. O's which brings back so many blasts from the pasts!!! It's in the perfect location between downtown and the Peppermill if you need a pit stop!! They have the promptest of service and at least they practice good safety and always check ID's!! Btw the whiskey flight hunt is 1/2 off with a yelp check in and the list of specialty beers is to be admired!! O.M.G!!! ...and they have 4 types of Fernet!!!! Holy chi*t!!!! Whhhaaatt!!?? Legit dive bar outside of the incoherent local raiders fan givin everyone shit. I don't think the bartender could stand that dweeb either. This has become a pretty regular place for me on a Saturday or Sunday morning. It's a small bar on the inside, with a massive outdoor area. There is a pool table if that's your fancy. Great bar tenders, props to Shawn! It's sort of becoming a "Cheers" type bar, walk in and everyone knows your name. Everyone is always happy to be there, and just happy to hang out. Good times! read more

Bartender was good not fabulous. He paid more attention to his friends than us. He definitely took awhile to come to us.

We came in on a very busy Friday night. The bar was about 3 people deep in front of us but the bartender acknowledged us and the wait wasn't too bad. We were there for the whiskey hunt and we enjoyed the flight selection. He took the time to give us tasting notes despite the crowds. We will definitely be back. read more

I've loved 40 Mile for a long time. They fresh squeezed their juices before making all of my cocktails, so I know that it is fresh too. Their cocktails are affordable and delicious too! I like this place, great beer selection in addition to regular bar cocktails. The staff is always attentive and friendly. The interior is interesting as a bar should be and of course what good saloon doesn't have a weird, tiny bathroom without epic wall art! It's a small quaint place which gives it the right vibe. Good place to kick off a drink or more! read more

The ambiance in here was super stellar, paired well with music, and the cocktails were good! Would go back definitely!

I had a couple beers here while I was waiting for my girlfriend to complete her DND campaign at a friend's house nearby. I sometimes get a little nervous about showing up to bars alone, but having a good bartender can totally turn a solo night into a great night. I don't remember his name, but he had a beard and was really kind, yet respectful of personal space. It seemed like he knew when I wanted to just zone out on my phone and when I would like company. Cold beer and a great atmosphere! read more
