I was wandering through Midtown on a hot day and suddenly felt a blast of air conditioning coming from a door as I passed it. I stopped to see the source, and it was the Poor Devil Saloon. My sweaty soul was compelled to stop. They have a nice selection of draft options and a handful of craft cocktails on the menu. But the massive bar has pretty much anything you could ask for as well. I took advantage of the $8 beer and shot special. There is an eclectic mix of art on the walls and a few cool seating areas to chill in. We started off the night here during Memorial Weekend visiting from California, and the vibes were great. We made our way to the bar and the Bartenders were so nice and it was quick service as well for a busy Friday night. My family played a couple games of pool and we had a great time. Poor Devil Saloon is an incredible place to get a drink, to meet with friends, and to play a few games of pool. The owner Josh is frequently in the bar and is a wonderful guy! Pool costs a dollar, quarters, per game. My husband and I love to have a date night, get a few cocktails and play $5 of pool. It's a wonderful way to spend an evening. Poor Devil is also in the heart of midtown, making it a wonderful walking locations to several other venues and dining spots. There is a back patio, with amazing string lights, perfect for a date or hang with friends. This bar is incredible. My husband and I went four times last week! Check it out! Came here on a Saturday night date night with my wife after we finished dinner in midtown. Great ambiance, plenty of seating at the bar when we went. We were greeted and served right away. The ambiance was cozy, felt like a modernized dive bar. We loved the decor. I had their signature margarita and my wife had wine. We stopped in before our play in the area. Evan was tending bar. We had a couple of old fashioneds with Mitchner's bourbon and some drafts. They have Rainer beer on draft!!! The bar is stocked with great alcohol. There is none of the cheap crap like Fireball, Jack Daniels, or Don Julio. Evan made solid drinks and was very friendly. We talked with him between customers. They have drink specials Sunday through Tuesday each week. Mondays special is margaritas for $6 and Tuesdays are half price taps. The staff was friendly and attentive, and quick to serve drinks! For not being a huge bar, it was able to accomadate all of us. Looks like they have a good variety of alcohol. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Sam, who was super fun and very well-versed in both classic and modern cocktail recipes. He recommended the yummy Long Drink slushy with strawberry syrup (a Finnish alcoholic soda). It tasted like guava with strawberries and it was so refreshing, especially for a hot day. It was also Margarita Monday! So of course your girl had to order a mid-day marg. It was quite delicious and the salt had a bit of smokiness to it. This place became one of my instant favorite bars in Reno! We usually travel in big groups which is an issue at a lot of places but this bar has plenty of space for a large group. The drinks were very well crafted. We had espresso martinis that were extra creamy and made with their own espresso machine. The inside is very clean and modern.
