Has NO Military / Veterans Discount :-(

Today's forecast: sunny with a 100% chance of beer, liquor, cider, wine, spirits, etc. because: Wine pairs well with whole grain Raisin Bran. Shakespeare wrote: "Give me a bowl of wine, In this I bury all unkindness." I cook with liquor, wine or beer; sometimes I even add it to the food. Young cousins called to rave to us about this place they had discovered describing it as a "groovy spirits and fermented store with seating". Being the adventurer that I am as I love everything that is old; old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old music, old wine, old liquor, old Reno which is what Midtown is which is where Craft is located, I said, heck yes let's visit. Cousins then quickly arrived, we all hopped aboard the public bus (the ONLY way too travel) and off we all went for a visit. Verisimilitude. Not a word that trips lightly off the tongue. Nor should it. Yet it is the word for here. Hooking you with the atmosphere and captivating you at first sip. PROS Location Greeted us upon arrival Diversity and uniqueness of product availability, for there can never be too much diversity of ciders, liquors, beers or wines. Good people drink good beer, said Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, US Air Force Veteran. We met a nice class of people here. Friendly, smart, diverse and progressive. A nice example of a neighborhood gem Interesting and tasty selection of non-alcohol drinks Staff answered all our questions and provided adequate and alacritous service. Customer service was generally casual stoic-sanguine satisfactory with several moments of sophisticated thoughtful and erudite. Charged the prices posted Delivered what they advertise Clean Hip and casual ambiance Front room is well-lit so people outside can see in. Back event room has cool books and is low-light. Music, which was a laid-back vibe of eclectic, volume was so that people could still easily converse. No one here offered to commit fraud to reward us, pay us or compensate us for posting 5 star reviews of this business No automatic gratuity was added. Tipping is not even expected. No one here offered to commit fraud to reward us, pay us or compensate us for posting 5 star reviews of this business I rate Craft 3 stars. According to Yelp ratings' definitions, that's "Ok". That to me is an acceptable rating of something that does day in and day out what it is there to do. It's NOT a negative review because doing day in and day out what it is there to do is NOT an easy thing to accomplish. The definition of craft is something that was made with skill. For a business that does so much so well, I am shocked and distressed they failed in a very crucial area. CONS I would have rated 'em higher if they have a Military / Veterans Discount. I say to those who fail to have a Military / Veterans Discount: Freedom isn't free. Like your Freedom? Then have a daily publicly disclosed Military / Veterans Discount as a thank you to GIs and we Veterans for it provides resource to ensure Veterans (rare 7% of the population) and GIs (rare one-half of one percent of the population) opportunity to participate in American Dream Veterans and GIs' sacrifices have made possible for 100% of the population. For we paid not only our price owed for our Freedom, we also paid the price owed for the Freedom of those who couldn't Serve and those who refused to Serve. I won't be back as I don't support any business that doesn't support our GIs or we Veterans because a little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference. -- Eeyore P.S. Don't message me because in spite of my several complaints to yelp, for years now I am unable to open up any messages in yelp to me :-(

Joey just one of the very knowledgeable staff at Craft!

Amazing place very family friendly Joey and Brit are phenomenal and very service minded. Their knowledge of beer and wine and recommendations are very helpful! There's a room in the back that can be rented for special occasions with additional seating outside in the front. Parking is a pinch but well worth the effort.

I love to go to Craft for gifts! The selection is so vast and exciting. It's also such a cute vibe to hang out with friends; they carry something for everyone. This was my first time buying a N/A item from them and it was SO GOOD. The employees are super knowledgeable and helpful. This place is such a Reno staple

There's cheap rum and expensive rum. Then there's rum from well known rum producing places like Barbados, Cuba and Jamaica and rum from lesser known regions like Guyana. Then there's rum from lesser known countries that's produced in the traditional fashion with obscure and wild additions, like mushroom infused rum from... Mexico? Yep. And you can find all of it here at Craft, and that's exactly what makes this the best place to shop for spirits! From beer and wine to whiskey, agave spirits, amaros, vermouths and even non-alcoholic options and snacks from around the globe, that ethos pervades the array of products you'll find at Craft and the staff knows about it all and is always happy to share with you. If you love spirits and you're not visiting here regularly, you are truly missing out. If you are remotely curious about anything in the realm of beer, wine or spirits, you owe it to yourself to stop by.

I had always known about Craft but had never had the opportunity to check it out. I saw they had a special loteria event the Sunday right before Cinco de Mayo. They were offering tamales, paletas and $5 for a loteria board. I made it right on time and there were people trickling into the event room in the back. I was warmly greeted by the host and explained where to go to get set up. It got a bit confusing in terms of knowing how many boards to buy per round and ended up overpaying when everyone else was able to use the same boards for multiple rounds. The tamales were so so good, and the overall crowd was a good vibe and great prizes. During the break I ventured to the front of the store and saw how busy it was in seating, the bar area, and just overall purchases of goods. I had a great time, and ended up leaving with buying some of the fancy kettle pickled chips which I have yet to try. I'll keep an eye for more upcoming things.

A special local place . Great walk in fridge filled w local and exotic cold drinks. Solid selection of wine, spirits and all the additional materials you need to craft high end cocktails. Approachable bar w friendly staff. Try the sake jelly ! Super fun . Outdoor patio and easy steer parking.

Craft is a hidden gem! I had never heard of it and happened to walk by when we had friends in town and we decided to pop in. The employee working was super nice and helped us find everything we needed. They have a great beer and wine selection for purchase, and you can also order to have a drink there. We were able to pick up food from another local spot, and bring it in to enjoy with our drinks. It's very aesthetically pleasing inside. There is also a selection of snacks, pickled goods, etc. our friends were also very impressed and we were glad we got to pop in while they were in town, we will definitely be back!

What a great, unique place to pick up specialty liquor! A friend got me a gift card here for my b-day which was probably the best place they could have done so at, as I was able to pick up a whiskey I had never even heard of before. That will definitely be a trick that I take to my friends in the future. The beer I got on tap was well enough, just a little sourer than I prefer, but nothing ventured and all that. The crew here all seem to be really passionate for their craft and I truly appreciate that. This is the place you stop by for a drink before dinner or heading out on the strip.

This was my first stop on the Yelp Whiskey Hunt, so the star for this visit was the flight of Aberlour scotch whiskeys. I didn't think I'd be a big fan of the scotch whiskey, but boy was it nice! But what about the wine and beer? We did try one Imbib Cream Ale which was on tap. They have three beers on tap and a few different wines you could try by the glass. The bottle shop portion, is largely international wines from Italy, France, etc. There is a large walk in cooler with many international beers (think Belgium, Germany, even Japan!) and a smaller section of local beers. You can grab a single and take it up to the bar and they open and pour and you can drink it there or you can buy a cold six pack or single to go. Cool concept. They also had a nice selection of liquors, also, many international liquors such as Pisco from Peru. I can't wait to go back and shop for the home bar!

    Mr Bland relaxing!
    Joyce T.

There is all kinds of bottled beers and types of drinks to enjoy here on in and outdoor bench seatings. Love the cherry wine served in a stemmed shot glass. Wait, they sell all kind of bottled alcohols and I mean the special, odd-named super special kinds. Also, all kinds of drink embellishments and crackers.

Only time I've ever seen Michter's 10 on a shelf in town for a fair price.

Cut and pasted from their website: "Slieve means "A…read moreMountain" in Irish Gaelic, their family roots." Quality/Quantity - Been an extremely long stressful day! So I NEEDED a break from the day to just relax and stop thinking! I gave my wife a few options, a few breweries to choose from (or for me to just go alone, which she would not have let me drink and drive, especially all the way from North Reno). So she/we chose to go to Slieve as I have not been there yet. Actually, all 3 choices were breweries. The good news is that there are more and more new breweries opening. The bad news is that there are more and more good breweries closing, in ALL my hometowns... My first time in a nano brewery; cool. Today I got (and tried the following), all Slieve brands; support local: Oh, I did not know you had a happy hour M-F from 2-5pm; I just missed it by 13 minutes... Should not have spent so much time outside taking pictures for Yelp, lol. Pale Ale - Good, but I prefer more flavor. This is currently my second "go to" beer after reds. Jimbo Porter - Better, but then I tried the Cookie Monster! I also did not taste the coconut. Cookie Monster - My favorite of the beers, so much flavor. And I am NOT usually a sweet beer drinker. It was not an overwhelming stout, probably due to the sweetness, but you can definitely taste the chocolate and slightly coffee and caramel flavors. I would get this again, but it would always have to be my last beer due to the flavors. Beers that I need to come back for when available are: Your reds, IPAs and of course your "Trinity Tripel." Ambiance - On your "about" page on your website, it says you are still looking for a home for your brewery...? Is that accurate or does that page need to be updated? Cool space, indoor and outdoor seating. Bar and table seating. 2 bars, one the back, probably only used for events. Semi private room when you walk in. Ping pong, darts, games, cornhole, cool decor on walls throughout to read, etc. Open 7 days a week, see their website. Yelp's hours/days differ slightly. Event spaces are available; see their website.. Service - Good. We were also greeted by Shannon when she and Phillip came in later for a drink or two... Phillip was too busy drinking to say hi, lol. Price - $8 a beer. The typical cost for good craft beer. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2022 with your nanobrewery; I wish you the best and am glad you own the building to help you weather some "storms."

We got there a little early to pick our spot at the bar. We were greeted by Shannon the owner. She is a lovely lady and later met her husband Phil. They have owned Slieve's for about three years. They have a spacious building and super clean! The staff are friendly and accommodating. There is no food on the premises to purchase, but you can bring your own food or ordered inn. It was fun to sample Girl Scout cookies and taste beer. We started with 6 tastings but they threw in a couple extra. The event was well organized and the Girl Scouts were there to sell their cookies. I was a Girl Scout 50 years ago. I think a box of cookies was $1.00 - $1.25. I paid $7. Times have certainty changed. The brewery is in an interesting location that I never knew existed before, but now I do and look forward to my return. Thank you for making our day fun and memorable!!!
