I have paid a pretty penny in shipping specifically to get this Strongwater original in my house, and it has never existed outside of a few merchants in Orange County. BRAVO CRAFT! In that same visit I see a new range that wasn't even listed on the website.... Worthy Park... literally the same day when I was going to get back home and order these from Southern California. Absolutely spectacular selection for a shop over in Reno, NV.... The icing on the cake for this visit to craft... HAMPDEN PAGOS!!! I drove straight home, pulled out my finest Glencairn and savored every moment of joy from finding this bottle locally.. If you can't find something anywhere else, this is definitely the place to check. The store is incredibly well-organized, making it easy to browse and find exactly what you need. I had always known about Craft but had never had the opportunity to check it out. I saw they had a special loteria event the Sunday right before Cinco de Mayo. They were offering tamales, paletas and $5 for a loteria board. I made it right on time and there were people trickling into the event room in the back. I was warmly greeted by the host and explained where to go to get set up. It got a bit confusing in terms of knowing how many boards to buy per round and ended up overpaying when everyone else was able to use the same boards for multiple rounds. The tamales were so so good, and the overall crowd was a good vibe and great prizes. During the break I ventured to the front of the store and saw how busy it was in seating, the bar area, and just overall purchases of goods. I had a great time, and ended up leaving with buying some of the fancy kettle pickled chips which I have yet to try. I'll keep an eye for more upcoming things. read more

This is the coolest little spot. Right in the heart of midtown. You walk and to an open area with a small bar area, and a few spots with tables and chairs. In the middle there are boxes upon BOXES of wine that you are able to buy and take home or enjoy inside. They also have beer on tap and feature wines. Craft is a hidden gem! I had never heard of it and happened to walk by when we had friends in town and we decided to pop in. The employee working was super nice and helped us find everything we needed. They have a great beer and wine selection for purchase, and you can also order to have a drink there. This was my first stop on the Yelp Whiskey Hunt, so the star for this visit was the flight of Aberlour scotch whiskeys. I didn't think I'd be a big fan of the scotch whiskey, but boy was it nice! But what about the wine and beer? We did try one Imbib Cream Ale which was on tap. They have three beers on tap and a few different wines you could try by the glass. The bottle shop portion, is largely international wines from Italy, France, etc. There is a large walk in cooler with many international beers (think Belgium, Germany, even Japan!) and a smaller section of local beers. You can grab a single and take it up to the bar and they open and pour and you can drink it there or you can buy a cold six pack or single to go. Cool concept. Can't believe I've not reviewed Craft yet because it is my favorite liquor store in Reno. In my mind the owner Ty is the most honest retailer in town. When he gets stuff in he puts it on the shelf and for a fair retail price. Most retailers hold allocated stuff in the back room for "friends" who usually just buy the bottle and then "flip" it on the secondary market for twice the price. I think Ty see through that corrupt game and operates first-come-first-served, treating all his customers exactly the same. I follow him on Instagram where he posts pictures of bottles he gets in when he gets them. I also check the website frequently and have bought a lot of bottles online for easy pick up. His selection is small but very good. He regularly stocks Wilderness Trail bourbon and has I think the best selection of Campbell Town Scotch in the area. I have a small collection of rum but most of it I've purchased here as he regularly stocks high proof stuff from Jamaica and Barbados. I've also purchased beer here as the craft selection in the walk in refrigerator is excellent. I'm not a wine drinker but he carries of a lot of wine and I'm betting it is bottles you might not find anywhere else. Get on his mailing list and don't miss the lottery he runs for high value bottles around Christmas each year. Love this place and highly recommend it! read more

Aberlour Scotch Whisky blend was the first one. Not peaty at all, super smooth, not a lot of coastal influence. I liked it. The Aberlour 12 year was a little sweeter a little more raisin like. It was definitely easier to drink. I like it more. The Aberlour 16 year had a molasses front and literally no burn. Super brown sugar and sulfur, in a good way, front and slightly alkaline finish. This was my husband and I's fourth stop on the whiskey hunt this year. At craft wine and beer you got a whiskey flight so we got to sample three of their different whiskeys. The first whiskey we sampled was Aberlour Scotch whiskey blend. It was our least favorite of the three was not very smooth and had a high burn factor with it. The second whiskey we sampled was the Aberlour 12 year. This whiskey out of the three was our favorite it went down smooth had great flavor and no burn. If you have plenty of time you can still around and check out all the various varietals from all over the world. If your short on time ask a staff member behind the bar for faster help. There is a small area out front if the shop to enjoy drink selections. And chairs along the front window and a couple of tables in the back to use. The Reno Wine Lovers group recently used the back tables. We were allowed to bring in snacks to enjoy with our wine purchases. You can pick a bottle from the floor stock or order by the glass from a short list at the bar. The list is always changing. I have been here several times but I have wound up utilizing it more as a liquor store than as a bar. I've come in, usually on a weekend when wandering midtown with the wife, picked up a few beers, tossed them in the car and enjoyed them later in the day. A few days ago a coworker suggested Craft for some afterwork beers. I ran a few errands and wound up there around 5. It was packed. Standing room only at the furtherest hightop table from the door. After wandering the fridge for a bit, I chose a beer (Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout) and went to the cashier. The cashier / bartender was kind enough to pop it open for me and pour it into a glass. I headed over to the table and then, after waiting 10-15 minutes, snagged two stools at the bar. My coworker arrived and headed into the beer fridge. He wound up coming out with the same beer I had chosen. We laughed and the bartender opened up his. We chatted and enjoyed our beers and my coworker ordered a beer on tap. We lounged and I never felt pressured or rushed. The crowd cleared after a bit so it wasn't as loud. Even at the fuller capacity I never felt like I had to yell or even speak loudly for my conversation to continue. That was a nice change from most places where I feel like half the experience is yelling over the crowd and/or music in the background. How did I not know about this place? I must not have been paying attention. This is not a snooty wine bar kind of place. It falls more on the neighborhood hipster type pace - but not in a bad way. It is very casual and resembles a wine warehouse with a few tables more than a bar. And they do have beer. In a huge walk-in cooler. According to my beer aficionados, they have really great beer. It also is very definitely a neighborhood hangout. A groups of people were having drinks, working on computers, or playing games at the picnic tables. I had an opportunity to try some of that great beer recently for one of Paul's Beer events. I am a "I'll have what you're having" beer drinker. My own true love pick us out a nice Weihenstephaner that I very much enjoyed. They also have a HUGE selection of wines (I sampled sips from my wine-drinking friends). So the deal is - they have a few items on tap at the bar that you can buy by the glass, or you can just browse and pick a bottle, and they will sell it to you open it and provide a glass. They also sell spirits. Looking forward to a return visit to try some of the wine and perhaps a spirit or two. read more

I thought this place was great, and I don't even drink! It was a hot day so my friends and I enjoyed the chill of the large walk-in cooler as they perused the options. The collection included a fair number of sake varieties. (There are so many.) While the store is not huge, I found they had a wide selection of spirits, many that I had not seen or read about. There seemed to be something for just about everyone, even a few sodas so non-drinkers can sit with those who do. In its regular configuration (as opposed to being set up for a special event), there's a long bar in front by the cash register. There are a few picnic tables inside and outside, with a display of spirits in the center. There's also some novelty seating by the door (see photo). It's a tad on the expensive side. From what I experienced and saw, it appears to be accessible. I do not recall seeing any foodstuffs for sale, as I have seen in other shops like this. I love Craft for its great and wide selection of hard-to-find amaros, vermouths and other cocktail-making elixirs. You'll find things to try that will never show up at larger chain stores. But there are two major issues with Craft that, for me, each takes away one star. First, the place is dark like a cave! Between the tinted front windows, north-facing exposure and the sparse and incredibly low-wattage lighting, it is practically impossible to see the bottles clearly. I literally have to turn on my phone's flashlight to be able to read the labels and prices on the bottles. I get that they may be looking to create some semblance of "ambiance" from the dim lighting, but Craft takes it way too far to the point that you can't even shop there without a flashlight. Second, what makes Craft's charm - a small, non-chain store where one can expect more expert service - falls flat when one seeks help to decide one's selection of bottle. Unless one happens to catch Ty, the owner, it seems no-one else there has any clue on the details of the delicious liquors on hand. Its great to have all kinds of unique vermouths, amaros and wines on offer, but when the persons working there resort to reading the label to explain how one might taste, or differ from another, well...i can do that myself. It would be great if maybe the staff there got some kind of training or "reader's digest" notes that would help them explain what is on offer. For now, they know as much as a salesperson at Home Depot. Hopefully the store will take these comments for the positive nature by which they are intended, so as to truly bring out the value of this place. read more

Went here for the "Best UYE ever!!" on a Monday. I hadn't ever been here before because beer is just not my thing. We were there to celebrate the last day of the Yelps on Tap week and maybe even have a pint of the nevadabeer that was made by the community of Reno with Under the Rose. After a long hot day of getting things done about the house, it was nice to walk into their walk in cooler and pick out a nice cider. They have a pretty extensive selection of ciders. Honestly the two I picked weren't really all that. The second would have been great with dinner. Almost like a chilled white wine instead of a cider. But really the review isn't about the one or two ciders I had. It's about the cool place that you can get many different beers, wines and ciders at an affordable price and enjoy the nice environment as well. The large windows and all that natural light really make this place feel homey and upscale at the same time. The women who were behind the counter were very friendly and uber helpful. One reason to come back to a place is the staff making you feel welcome and this definitely was a very welcoming staff. It was my first time in a place like this. I met up with my friend who's leaving to live in Australia soon, and she picked this place due to the perfect reviews it has. Location is nice, in midtown around numerous businesses. Parking was tough, as usual, and I had to park a ways away next to an apartment complex. There just was not any street parking available at the time. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There was a cute bulldog outside, while we were there, so I assume you may have pets white sitting outside. Basically, there are rows full of different types of wines and beers. There are prices attached to every bottle, and you just pick out which ones you'd like to drink. Prices vary. After purchasing the bottle, the bartender pours the liquor into the appropriate number of glasses and you just sit down on one of the benches to hang out. They do offer snacks, such as crackers, pretzels, sardines, and cheeses to purchase separately. The environment is very calming and relaxing. There's a bar area, which was packed. There was around 6 picnic tables indoors, including the ones outdoors. Staff were very accommodating. This was such a cool experience that I would love to do again! Very cool concept. We purchased and drank a whole bottle of rosé, then walked a block or two and ate at the Mexican restaurant close by. It was so convenient! read more

This was a pretty cool event. Bubbles and Bacon Apparently they have this event every Christmas Eve day. They pour champagne $5/glass and the cook bacon out front on a grill and bring it in and serve it as a nibble. On all the tables you will find potato chips as well. There were Ruffles on some tables, and Costco brand on others. It was quiet when we arrived but got busier as the time passed. It was fun. There was no table service - so you had to go to the bar to get your beverages. But they have a GREAT selection of BEERS and Wines, Booze and Bubblies. We just had the house pour bubbly - which was a Prosecco - and I felt was perfect for the event. Don't plan on getting full of bacon, you have to be vigilant and catch it when the platter comes in the room, but you're not here for the meal, you're here for the event.
