I already loved Pinon before, but now I love them even more! My dog and I share a birthday, so of course I wanted to have a get together with some friends at a dog friendly place. Pinon seemed like the perfect spot! We called ahead the week prior to make sure they didn't have any events (like trivia) scheduled for the Monday night that we were planning to come. They told us to come on in and asked for our names, then said they'd see us on Monday. Fast forward to Monday, my husband got a phone call from one of the employees asking if we were still planning to come. We appreciated the check-in! We were surprised to show up and see two of their large high top tables reserved with our names on them! Such a kind gesture. They told us we could bring food as long as we were there drinking beer, so it was a fun cake + beer party! We had about 20 people and 4 dogs (including a Great Dane). Places say they are dog friendly then sometimes frown upon bigger dogs. All our dogs are well-behaved, so they were loved by the staff as well as the other customers at Pinon! It was nice feeling like they were so welcomed there. My friend also brought her baby and he was welcome there too! We brought some bundtini cupcakes, pupcakes for the dogs, and drank plenty of beer. Leara was AMAZING and such a thoughtful person to be taking care of us that night!! She brought over water bowls for the dogs, told us how impressed she was at their good behavior, checked on us often, took a big group picture of all of us (including a great selfie), and even wished me a happy birthday by doing an Underberg shot together! She was super fun, very considerate, and made us feel right at home. We felt like Pinon went above and beyond for our event despite not having an official event fee for something like this. We made sure to show our appreciation by purchasing lots of beer, cleaning up after ourselves, and tipping well! I will never forget this great birthday celebration and owe a big thanks to the Pinon staff for being the best hosts! read more

Such a cool hangout spot to grab a craft brew and then a bite next door from Noble Pie Pizza Parlor. It's an excellent choice for either a date, or bringing family and friends. The staff is also always super helpful if you have difficulty choosing the perfect beer or cider. The option to sample a few before committing to a full glass is so nice and very much appreciated. The indoor seating is nice, but the outdoor seating is best in my opinion. The service here is great! After ordering a sour that wasn't really my taste, I went up to the bar and asked to buy a different drink instead. The bartender let me try a sample of another drink to make sure I liked it, and ultimately just let me swap out my old one for free! I thought that was very nice, and I honestly wasn't expecting that at all! They are very customer service oriented here. There are a lot of beers, ciders, sours, wines, you name it! I enjoy seeing people bring their dogs here. There is a lot of seating, inside and out, but it will fill up on weekends. First time checking this bar out. It has a really nice interior and nice outdoor seating as well. There were feb people sitting back at the bar too which was nice to see. The bartender was sweet and friendly, she even let me have a taster of a new Hazy before I got a taster as part of a flight. LUCKILY, at Piñon Bottle, we never have to worry about a lack of sour beer. Fiancé likes them more sour than a warhead, and the wonderful beertenders at Piñon Bottle are always happy to oblige with a few to choose from. I like a good pale ale, pilsner, or amber ale, and while Piñon Bottle usually skews toward the IPA side, they always have something for me too. They will let you try out a beer before you commit, which I always appreciated. We usually frequent the Sparks location because we live really close, but the Midtown spot is great. There is an amazing patio that they share with Noble Pie. With perfect ambiance, this is a great spot to go on a hot summer night. read more

Have I only written a review on Pinion in my head? I've been coming to this bar since around 2016 and just love the variety they have to offer. The amount of beers, ciders, and what have you is outrageous, it makes it impossible for me to choose just one. This past Saturday, New Years Day, I ran with the Mikkeller Running group for the first time and enjoyed a couple beverages afterwards, thanks to some new friends. Pinion is one of my favorite bars in midtown. I think it's relatively new, so the condition is still really good. Very clean, and super welcoming. The fact that noble pie will cater over is a huge plus for people wanting dinner and a beer. Their beer selection is crazy awesome, I have a good chance trying something new everytime I come in. I have a dog and am a HUGE fan of places that allow furry friends. The fact that pinion is so open about it already makes me choose this bar over any other one. If I can bring my dog somewhere, you can count me in. My last visit in, I bought beers to go for the first time. I picked 4 out and the bartender told me that they have a 6 pack deal where if you make your own six pack, then you get 1 out of those 6 free. That is so awesome! I was able to try two extras that I wouldn't have otherwise grabbed. Staff is friendly, atmosphere is fun and open, and the location is conveniently placed near many other good establishments. The only downside is the bathroom being outside of the bar and requiring a code, but that's easy to overlook with all the other pros! read more

Chill and cool spot -- was really in love with the large, colorful, and artful chalk-written tap board that was located to my right as I walked in and headed to the bar. It made ordering very simple since the brewery name, beer name, style, ABV, price, and available size (in ounces) were all clearly written out. Plus, you could just yell out the number your beer is listed under to make things super quick. Inside was relaxing with ample seating for a small party or large groups. Outside benches in front are also fair game. Only complaint would probably be for the ergonomics of the bar -- it was way too high for the seating provided which forced me to slouch, making my back hurt after some time. I heard they do ladies-only tasting events which is something I can appreciate! I know plenty of beer-drinking ladies and connect best with a gal I can talk beer with. If I lived in Reno, I probably would frequent this bar just for those events! Not only that, but as their name implies, they are a bottle shop and with plenty of selection. I'm pretty sure you can crack any bottle you purchase on the spot, just not sure what the corkage fee would be. But I often order the Pigeon Head pilsner when I'm there! There are 36 beers on tap and a huge fridge of bottled and canned beers. They also offer ciders and fancy non-alcoholic sodas. The servers, especially Brooke, are super friendly and knowledgable. Piñon is the clubhouse for the Reno chapter of the Mikkeller Running Club. Every first Saturday of the month at 11 am, folks gather at Piñon to run 3 miles and then drink beer once Piñon opens at noon. If you wear MRC gear, you get your first beer free! Running with my beer-loving friends and then drinking here afterward is one of the highlights of my month. Everyone is welcome to join! Piñon was the place I chose when I wanted to have a ladies get-together the Thursday evening before my Saturday wedding. The vibe was perfect, my out-of-town lady relatives loved Midtown, and we could all order pizza from Noble Pie next door and enjoy sitting on the front patio. I'm a huge fan of solo drinking and reading at bars, and Piñon has excellent seating options to facilitate being a scholarly weirdo. I love Piñon. Especially now that the heat is returning, the nights are comfortable and we can take advantage of that outdoor seating. Not to mention, having Noble Pie Parlor right next door makes it perfect for such a convenient pizza and beer pairing. Inside, they have a chalkboard with about 30 or so beers on tap and they change from time to time. For example, one of my first visits I had a Dragons-milk, which was a milk stout. If you don't know me yet, I love milk stouts. For this most recent visit, they didn't have Dragons-milk, so I asked the bartender if they had any milk stouts. He suggested the Prairie No Chill Milk Stout and the Stone Totalitarian Russian Imperial Stout. I tried both of them and I came to the conclusion that I liked the Prairie over the Imperial Stout. It was smoother and reminded me of Guinness! If none of the beers on tap pleases you, then they have a refrigerator of other bottled or canned beers of all sorts to try. Again, I love this place. Inside does have limited seating, but with such nice weather now, there's plenty of space outside to enjoy each other's company. read more

Wow this place is awesome and they have a blind onion next door!! Me and a friend recently went here, we ordered customized slices with a lb of wings (the wings are worth every penny, esp if you love garlic!) from blind onion. The cool thing about having this place next door is that blind onion will deliver your food to you while you're in here. After we ordered we went next door and got some beer. Tons of variety and if you can't find anything on tap they also have a fridge filled with different types of beers, wines, sodas, etc. the staff are very helpful and the environment is peaceful. They have tables out front that share space with Noble Pie, so when it's nice it's awesome to grab a slice and a beer and hang out.
