Visiting Reno for business, and went for a very long walk. Needing some nourishment searched for some place off the casino area. Pignic hit the spot. Although a little early, there were still customers at the bar. I sat and was helped right away by an amazing bartender. She was very pleasant and helpful. Great conversation and even better drinks! Food wasn't being served till 4pm, so I enjoyed a couple drinks, one being a maple bourbon seasonal drink. Great taste, well prepared and hit the spot after a long trek. Food arrived, and I was disappointed to hear back to the hotel. The restaurant has live music, and other special nights for patrons, and the community to gather. Really nice spot. My second time here and I loved it. I love that in Reno some of the old houses have transformed into bars and restaurants. Pignic is so dang cool and feels like you're at your friends houseparty. First of all, shoutout to Em for taking great care of us. We literally walked in right before closing and she was nice enough to still serve us! Loved that! I wanted a stout beer and she suggested a great one called Old Rasputin. It was delish!! They let us go upstairs and check it out, which I believe is open for private events up there. It's sooo cool! All the rooms of the house are still there, they even have a pool table up there. This is seriously one of those cool bars you'll always want to be at. It's such a fun vibe! Won't be my last visit! Such a fun place to bring our dogs and just hanging out with friends and family. We took our golden retriever and toy yorkie with us and the owner is super friendly to them. They have water bowels for dogs inside and the owner even said hi to both dogs and brought yummy snacks to them. We ordered the pretzel, tri tip sandwich and some drinks to share. Two times in less than two weeks? Yeah. I did that and I'm very happy about it! Last year a friend checked out Pignic on a rec from me and literally hasn't stopped talking about the Pignic Punch since. Naturally when he came back to town recently he said "You're coming with me. I won't take no for an answer" and I was all to happy to oblige. I love the seasonal cocktails at Pignic and how each bartender gets a chance to feature their personal flair and flavor on the menu. The drinks are always clever and creative, using intriguing ingredients that allow this boozehound to learn while libating, a nice plus to the balanced flavors and beautiful presentation. "Puts the Lime in the Coconut" was my call that night, a sour, rum based spirit forward cocktail with a punch of pucker power from what I can only describe as a clarified, fresh sour mix. Fresh lime sourness, citrus, cane and coconut sweetness, balanced by beautiful herbaceous bitterness from white amaro and some zip from a rosé based, botanical infused vermouth. FREAKING FIVE STARS on this one! It was so good I had to head back for more a week later with some more folks, and it was just as stellare as before! Beware because these go down way too easy and pack a punch. I'm so glad we went though because we caught Indie Hip Hop Night and a performance by TheoryMC, Constant Lyt and Glass Tung, all of which were great acts! Our Rotary club decided to have our Wednesday meeting here, sitting outside on a pleasant but slightly windy evening. The place is rustic and has pretty comfortable seating. The drink and food prices are very reasonable and the menu is quite varied. The real problem was that they seem to be very understaffed. Drinks took a very long time to come out, but the servers tried their very best to make things right so it wasn't their fault. It's time for an update. It's only been 8 years and the business has changed a bunch since that first review. I wont go through all of the changes but the one that stands out the most is that they have a great food program here. It's a foodtruck sorta feel. I think all of the cooking takes place out front. And even though they have gone through a number of different iterations of the menu, every time I have had it, the food is always creative and tasty. This last time my wife and I stopped in for the special Whiskey Wednesday which...every 3rd Wednesday they do a "Break Even" bottle. This pulled us out of our little weeknight rut and boy was I impressed. We sat at the bar and ordered up some of the different happy hour food specials and drink specials to get us to the 7:00 hour when the break even bottle would be opened. I normally avoid salt but I felt it was a night to splurge and I got the sausage and pretzel combo and my wife got the totchos with chicken. She was a little disappointed in the chickens blandness but we both really enjoyed the tots themselves and the sausage....oh my goodness the sausage was so definitely the surprise of the night. Very very good, so good I wouldn't have shared it with my wife if she hadn't also said it was really really good. They made a special old fashioned coconut fat washed for $10 for the event. And it was delightful. Full of flavor and texture and that amazing ice that Pignic does so well. The atmosphere is still excellent and the pricing for quality cocktails and food is industry standard. 1st place looked closed (6pm), when I walked up. 5 people on 1st floor, 2 people on deck. Bar tender super nice and friendly welcomed me and my dog. Explained beer menu and food menu. Got a local ipa. ordered pignic classic with cheese. went out to deck. apparently they had a wing thing going on per Facebook, Bartender didn't say anything about it. She probably had no idea, I would have order that instead. It could have been pared with a signature cocktail. Food came and it was basically just dropped on table, no napkins or utensils. a little later 3 people came out to deck, and left as soon as drinks were done. the cook asked them if ordered food before they left. food come out of a food trailer cheaper than adding a kitchen to there space. could be setup for walk up and go food. hamburger was good, tater tots were very crispy. cook wore glove to deliver food, open the door not sure what he touched with gloves. No one came back out to check on food or to ask if I wanted another beer. Patio was, well looked like a mess, needs to have touch up painting on signs. benches falling apart, sun screen was a well not complete. needs a good cleaning and trimming bushes, tables needed to be wiped down. and the number of bbqs, wow! inside was clean but could use a good wipe down and organization. The way I look at it. After my experience I would not bring my wife there, I would go back by myself for a beer to see if anything was done But not for food. Place has a ton of potential, they need to have something to draw locals in and out of towners to come back next visit. At least they have a food menu and a cocktail menu. They need better signage on the street. so much potential.... Questions I have; Can bartenders make cocktails exactly the same? Has kitchen trailer been scrubbed down inside and out? Why so many bbqs and green eggs? What's with the sinks outside? Who trained bartenders to pour beer? When was last time back bar was cleaned? It had been many a day since my wife and I had been to Pignic. We enjoyed many memories there in the early 2010's, before they had a food menu. Once we saw the food menu, we absolutely had to give them another chance. I can't deny that Pignic has once of the best spots for outdoor patio dinin' and drinkin'! Some of the benches are a little worse for wear (or is it ware?) but the ambiance is great, and walking distance from the beautiful Truckee River! Everything is ordered at the bar, and they even have little sheets for you to to fill out everything you want. I enjoyed a delicious Pignic Pale Ale (Shoutout to the geniuses at IMBIB for brewing one of the best local pale ales I ever had) and the Elote Shrimp. The food was delivered very quickly, and with a smile! The food was delicious, and the dipping sauces complimented the flavor of the shrimpies perfectly. Overall a very pleasant place. I definitely will be back to try the Gochujang Chicken Wings! Please don't take them off the menu before I return! read more

Visiting the area for the weekend and was looking for some late night food. Unfortunately their kitchen closes at 10pm. So I decided to stick around and have a cider. I had the #8 which is the AVID Cider Rocket Pop. It was from the tap, but one problem.. I wish it was colder, it wasn't warm but it didn't come out cold to where it would be refreshing on a warm summer night like tonight. Very good cider nonetheless, which they sell in a 6 pack to take to go. Inside is very close quarters but very welcoming. Looks like they had a band playing live music that was packing up, so missed out on that. The staff is very friendly and even suggested me a place open late night to grab some food since their kitchen was closed. Another bartender was also nice enough to recommend us 2 other bars in the area to check out while we are here. Outside patio is very spacious! Great layout and plenty of space to grab a seat, also have outdoor heaters for the colder nights. Defiantly will have to come back someday to check out the food, enjoyed my time. read more

I got there later in the evening and missed out on the small bites, but like previous trips, I came for a good cocktail. I love the ambiance here and is somewhere the hubby and I would frequent pre-covid/shut down. I love having the option to sit outside on a warmer Summer night. It's been four years since I last came here. They did not have any food back then so we opted to try their menu this time. The food was decent for a bar. The Korean wings were great, but the elote shrimp was disappointing. I'm not sure how I feel about the birria ramen. The birria was excellent, but the soup was way too oily to drink. Where do I begin? I really want to give Pignic a much higher rating. I've coordinated a few events here and the service has always been stellar. I was really big on this place in 2018-2019, but boy has this place changed. Their catered food was delicious for my events. And now their big craze was their on-site food. I finally got a chance to try the food, I soon regretted some of my choices.... The spot: It was Trivia Night, so there were a ton of young folks hanging out at the bar. The space has adequate seating located in three different areas: the front and back outdoor spaces are great to hang out at. The ambiance is cozy with lighting. Inside is a different beast, since it's an older house, it's quirky. Some seating is available inside and they have their Revision bar located upstairs. They have single restrooms, one for men and one for women. For some reason every time i'm at this bar, the women's restroom is always dirty. They have street parking, you can usually find parking in front or within a half block. If you're into grilling your own food, they still have a handful of BYOB stations in their side outdoor patio where you can cook your own food. The food: *The bartender who took our order did not mention this, but we later found out that the wait time is about 40-45 mins for food*. THE WINGS - I'm pretty sure these were a few days old, just re-fried. It was the SADDEST order of wings I've ever tasted. The odd 8 pieces of baby wings were not appetizing, the presentation was horrible. It was served with a side of very watery blue cheese (which the bartender mentioned they were out of) and nothing else, not a piece of carrot or celery in sight. The wings were very dry, mostly bone, covered in a weird spice (dry rub). Honestly, you're better off going down 2 blocks to Royce that serves the tastiest wings. Because for $9, it was a complete waste. We didn't even eat them, they were that bad. The quality was very disappointing, they need to take these off their menu immediately. Arepa - This isn't what I expected. An arepa is a corn cake that is filled with toppings. These were two small corn cake squares topped with your choice of meat (pulled pork, tri tip, or shredded chicken). Queso fresco, pickled onions, and micro greens. I tried the tri-tip, it was very dry and bland. The queso fresco was more of a few medallion sizes, I omitted the onion, the micro greens tasted more like sprouts, and there was an unknown sauce and spice on top....it was also very salty. The size was a little bigger than my palm, not a very big portion. Since we got our food to go, the container were filled with tots, so the arepa was buried under tots. My husband ordered the Pigshack Classic: 2 smashed patties, 1,000 island, tomatoes, lettuce, onion, and American cheese. As a burger connoisseur, he said it was okay - a 6 out of 10. It wasn't his favorite, but it was a typical burger. He said there was a spice that was hidden in the burger, perhaps something sprinkled on the meat. He ended up with a stomach ache after eating it. The burger comes with your choice of tots or salad, we ordered a salad with ranch but received tots instead. We decided to try the Pignic Totchos. Tots, beer cheese sauce, bell peppers, and green onions with your choice of protein for an extra $5. We didn't add a protein and I'm glad we didn't. These are okay without meat, but it was more tots than anything else. The beer cheese was okay, not too flavorful. Something I wouldn't order again. It was pretty basic. There seemed to be a certain spice that they basically put on every dish. We kept tasting it with everything we ate. But we couldn't pinpoint what it was. The drinks: We ordered drinks at the main bar and had requested to keep our tab open, but the bartender didn't pay attention and ended up closing us out. That was pretty frustrating since we planned on ordering more drinks and food. They have two beer menus, one for the main bar and one for the bar upstairs. You can order from either menu and if you choose a beer from the Revision Bar, someone will bring it down for you. I tried the Avid Açaí Lemonade Cider and it was really tasty, not too sweet, just perfect. My husband ordered the Revision El Repaso Lager, it was light, crisp, and refreshing. The drinks were by far much better than the food. They have a beer fridge in the bar, so you can take some of their pre-canned beverages home with you. Overall, the best thing we ate were the plain tots. They were crispy and tasty. Everything else was a huge disappointment. After our experience, we decided that it's best to never eat here again....it was that bad. The service can definitely improve. While sitting outside, we overheard that the table next to us were having food issues and ended up not getting all of the food they ordered. I'm pretty bummed about our experience, we used to really enjoy going to this bar. The service has definitely changed and is pretty mediocre now. read more

I got the 21st Amendment - watermelon (#17, I think) and you can smell/taste the watermelon -- interesting drink, light and refreshing. We realized that it was Reno Food and Drink Week and that Pignic was participating so it was a no brainer! We loved the trio special of a salad with a pesto vinaigrette, wings and birria ramen so we could try quite a few different things.
