Quality/Quantity - Now owned or partnered with Parley 6 and Battle Born. Brewery day! I did not know it was Tuesday as we went to Lake Tahoe AleWorX Reno first and they are closed on Tuesdays (and closed Mondays)... Well good for Lead Dog. All my buddies have been inviting me to come on Sundays for their live bands. I hope to visit on a Sunday soon. Since there was no Tahoe AleworX, we decided to go to Fox Brewery after Lead Dog; sadly see other Yelp review... Anyway, we each got the Lead Dog Left for Red which was good, but I think it could have been colder. Nothing a glass of ice can not fix. And now with the Parley's relationship/partnership/merger, we have more beer options! BTW, both beers are also available at Costco. :) Happy hour; $2 off pints. Ambiance - Decent size place. Small shared parking lot, with the winery. But plenty of street parking. Well, today is a Tuesday... Bar, indoor and outdoor seating, also a lounge area. Game area, corn hole, pool table, shuffleboard, etc. Open 7 days a week; see their website as Yelp's hours differ. Service - Always good. Price - $13 + tip. $6 a beer for Happy Hour. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 2016 and all these positive changes. I still have not visited your Lead Dog Sparks location. Is it still there and open to the public?

Great beer, great people, lovely outdoor area. Definitely a keeper amongst the many Reno breweries.

I patronize this place nearly every day, and my experience is always the same. Attentive bartenders, clean bar, and good folks in the bar all the time. Gaven, Chey, Sarah, and V are awesome. If you go in there tell them Nate sent you.

Great brew pub with lots of choices and a friendly crew. I selected a flight of four (Biggest Little Blonde, Fade To Orange, Chasing Hares, and Paragon Pilsner) and I enjoyed each but Fade To Orange was my favorite. Four wasn't enough so I added a Peanut Butter Stout. That was a fun drink. A very friendly barkeep (?) helped me pick those pours when I told her my likes and dislikes. There was plenty of bar seating, table seating, and a very large parking lot. They had about a dozen different beers in cans for To-Go purchases and I took advantage of that option as I was heading out for the West's Finest Pizza (seriously!) at JJ's Pie Company. Now I have two great Reno finds.

What a fun spot with a clean and artsy vibe. Huge selection of drinks and friendly bartender. I really enjoyed my savage sour and appreciated that it wasn't too sweet. The happy hour is great, $2 off drinks! Also a big seating area and lots of game options available. Looks like it would be a good spot to visit in the summertime when their open their garage doors to the back patio area.

Lead Dog is a massive space with tons of games serving a large selection of beers. We love coming to Lead Dog because there is something for everyone but more importantly, they have shuffleboard, ping pong, darts, pool, and host regular events. You can keep yourself busy at this place for ages. There is plenty of seating here and it's great for large groups. The bathrooms are quite small and it's probably not something that can be remedied, but one stall in the men's bathroom of a brewery can make things tricky when it's busy. Other than the bathroom issue, Lead Dog is a great place to grab a drink and hang. They have cocktails too, but no food so come prepared!

This place has come a long way from the last time I was here in 2019. The building is really well out together with the theme and decor. The main bar is large and has a robust selection of both lead dog and revision beers. A lot of IPAs, but the couple porters were well done and not too heavy. If you're not into beer they have a full cocktail menu and a full bar that can make anything you ask for. When we walked in a group of women ahead of us were asking A LOT of questions and really backed up the one bartender, but he got us going pretty quick with filling out our samplers. They don't serve cooked food in-house so kids are not allowed inside, but there's some picnic tables seating outside the front doors. I think these rules are slightly different when they have a food truck on site, then kids are allowed inside. Great place, great beer. Will be back next time I'm in Reno.

Great place to visit and enjoy the variety of craft beers on tap. Gavin was very knowledgeable and helpful explaining the different beers that were produced there.

Great bartender, chill atmosphere and so many darn choices. Some of the most balanced sour beer I have ever had!

I was stoked to stop by here on my way through Reno last week. The space is great and their stated commitment to local artists was a big draw. The space was wonderful- large and the art was pretty hip. That was it. They were out of the two beers I wanted to try and the bartenders were unfriendly. There weren't many people there, so it's was hard to pick up on whatever kind of vibe they have. That night, it felt boring and standoffish. The beers we had were good, but not standout enough to make up for the lack of personable staff working there. There's a lot of breweries in that areas of town and the next one we went to had more fun beers and a much friendlier bartender.

Great selection of beer, staff was friendly. Had a flight of ipa's and they all were delicious. Pool table and games available. Can't wait to go back.

I tried the chicken sandwich and it was soooo delicious! It was a nice tangy and sweet taste with that fried crispy crunch and pickle you can desire on a chicken sandwich. The event I attended here was a drag brunch hosted by the Twampsons. It was such a good happy vibrant time. I will definitely be back with friends to try the many different drinks and other foods. Shout out to the staff. They were on it! Super nice as well. They were running around filling drinks, clearing dishes and bringing us that yummy food. It is a big space for many people along with the venues that can be accommodated. Nice and chill with plenty of seating.

I had the pleasure of getting to play music for the first time at this location with my multiple award winning band in the middle of June (2023) and I had a great time! (www.RickMetz.com) Spacious interior, nice stage, delicious beer (a wide variety), nice selection of liquor, efficient service, but the biggest surprise for me? The food was fantastic... They had their food trailer parked out front for our gig. I'm not sure if it's in permanent residence here or if they take it out and about, but it was a welcome treat. I ordered The Dankster Double IPA. I'm an IPA guy from the word go and this was great! On our first break, we got to eat... I ordered The Hanoi Pig sandwich ($13): [Roast pork belly and pulled pork layed in a warm hoagie roll with char sui BBQ sauce, sriracha slaw, pickled carrot, sesame seeds, jalapeno, cilantro, green onion and crispy rice noodles] A great take on a classic Banh Mi. Unfortunately...depending on your perspective...they were out of the pork belly...BUT, I substituted the Pickle Brined And Battered Chicken Breast from their Wing'n It Chicken Filet Sandwich ($13) and it melded with all the other flavors of the original sandwich perfectly! I considered it a fortunate circumstance... Myself and the rest of the band shared huge orders of amazing Crispy Onion Rings ($7): [a pile of crispy goodness, with our tangy BBQ sauce] (we got some Blue Cheese dressing for those, too...love me some Blue Cheese on my Onion Rings) and perfectly done Lead Dog Seasoned Steak Fries ($6): [hopped seasoned salt with House Sauce and Ketchup on the side]. My other 2 musicians ordered the Lead Dog Cheese Burger ($13): [Two brisket beef patties, crispy onion rings, tangy bbq drizzle, house sauce, cheddar cheese, sweet butter dill pickle chips, Left For Red bacon jam, on a brioche bun] They both loved it... WAY above my expectations...what a pleasant surprise...I'd eat this food anytime, whether I was playing music here or not! The entire menu looks good...I'm going to have to try more of it in the future on return visits...you should take the time to try it, too...

Chicken sandwich, Hanoi Pig, onion rings and a couple beers.

Ask the Community - Lead Dog Brewing

    Do they have Trivia nights?

    Sorry I don't know

Are you open? I'd like to sit and enjoy a pint or two?

Hello, unfortunately we are still not allowed to open besides curbside. We can’t wait to reopen!!

Are they dog friendly at all?

Yes, I have seen them on the patio and sometimes inside. Please make sure they are well behaved though!

Can you bring your own food in?

    Absolutely!

    Is this brewery kid friendly?

I don't know if it's explicitly forbidden, but from being there several times (and just having been to many a brewery with kids in tow), I would probably not bring my kids there. It's definitely got the more adult vibe.

Are they dog friendly as in , Can you bring your dog?

    Only service dogs, unfortunately.

    Are dogs allowed?

At this point, per Washoe County health code, only service dogs.

Does this place serve food as well?

    I don't think they do

I see they have a wheat beer. How hoppy are the other beers?

Our IPA's are on the more "hoppy" side. We offer a selection of other beers to accommodate all tastes.

So bar food wise it was good, but not having their entrees like before would limit me from thinking of the Depot for dinner versus lunch or happy hour. Drink wise, my friend had a whiskey cocktail that was quite good. I had a grapefruit agave seltzer that was refreshing. Service was unfortunately a little slow even though it appeared to not be that busy, but the manager did come out to help.

They specialize in lagers, but over the years their menu has expanded to include all sorts of other styles. Suffice to say, you're going to find something you love here. Some of my perpetual favorites are their Pilsner, which is a very good easy-drinking beer. Add to that selections like their delicious Black Lager, their very outstanding Silver Sage Pale Ale, and their delicious Jalapeno/Habanero beer. And don't skip out on any of their seasonal brews, either, as the crew here are always cooking up something new and exciting to try. Plus, they have a fair portion of their menu available in cans to-go, and can do growlers and growlers to order. I also just love the vibe and energy at this place. It's very chill, cozy, and friendly in the extreme. Between the fantastic staff and the cadre of regulars, it has that real "local pub" sort of feel to it. You can hang out, play a few bar games, watch whatever sport is on the TV, or go sit outside in their wonderful beer garden if the weather is nice. All this ism plus they have events on a semi-regular basis like bar trivia, food-and-beer pairings, Grateful Dead night, or food truck pop-ups. So keep your eyes on their online calendars. Prices for everything are pretty much on par with other breweries and craft bars in town, starting around $8 per pint. There is no real food available here betond a selection of chips, nuts, and admittedly excellent beef jerky. But there are some food options fairly close by to either walk to or get delivered. Parking is usually pretty easy, too, either in their small lot or in street spaces. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Pigeon Head is my favorite brewery in our region. I've been a fan of them for years, and I hope more folks can discover them as well. In the last year or so, I really feel the energy of the Brewery District has shifted east to land along the Wells Ave corridor, with these guys being one of my favorite frequent haunts. Anyone looking for good beers and good vibes should come check them all out. Cheers, all!

Cut and pasted from their website: "Slieve means "A…read moreMountain" in Irish Gaelic, their family roots." Quality/Quantity - Been an extremely long stressful day! So I NEEDED a break from the day to just relax and stop thinking! I gave my wife a few options, a few breweries to choose from (or for me to just go alone, which she would not have let me drink and drive, especially all the way from North Reno). So she/we chose to go to Slieve as I have not been there yet. Actually, all 3 choices were breweries. The good news is that there are more and more new breweries opening. The bad news is that there are more and more good breweries closing, in ALL my hometowns... My first time in a nano brewery; cool. Today I got (and tried the following), all Slieve brands; support local: Oh, I did not know you had a happy hour M-F from 2-5pm; I just missed it by 13 minutes... Should not have spent so much time outside taking pictures for Yelp, lol. Pale Ale - Good, but I prefer more flavor. This is currently my second "go to" beer after reds. Jimbo Porter - Better, but then I tried the Cookie Monster! I also did not taste the coconut. Cookie Monster - My favorite of the beers, so much flavor. And I am NOT usually a sweet beer drinker. It was not an overwhelming stout, probably due to the sweetness, but you can definitely taste the chocolate and slightly coffee and caramel flavors. I would get this again, but it would always have to be my last beer due to the flavors. Beers that I need to come back for when available are: Your reds, IPAs and of course your "Trinity Tripel." Ambiance - On your "about" page on your website, it says you are still looking for a home for your brewery...? Is that accurate or does that page need to be updated? Cool space, indoor and outdoor seating. Bar and table seating. 2 bars, one the back, probably only used for events. Semi private room when you walk in. Ping pong, darts, games, cornhole, cool decor on walls throughout to read, etc. Open 7 days a week, see their website. Yelp's hours/days differ slightly. Event spaces are available; see their website.. Service - Good. We were also greeted by Shannon when she and Phillip came in later for a drink or two... Phillip was too busy drinking to say hi, lol. Price - $8 a beer. The typical cost for good craft beer. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2022 with your nanobrewery; I wish you the best and am glad you own the building to help you weather some "storms."

Since most brews are seasonal, we asked what was available, tried a beer apiece and found each was aromatic and mouth-watering and nose-tickling. We noticed others playing a board game who pointed out to us where we could get one, so we played while we drank. Dog-friendly. Disabled-friendly. Has non-alcoholic options. The customer service was adequate. No automatic gratuity was demanded for our attendance here. The bill matched their posted prices. (It's an illegal Deceptive Trade Practice when the bill doesn't match posted prices) No one at this business took my picture without my permission or publicly posted it without my permission. Local Beer Works has taken the pledge To Leave No Veteran Behind with a Veterans / Military Discount and accommodating to we disabled Veterans for our Special-Needs due to our military Service-connected disabled disabilities. A Veterans Discount is particularly important to Disabled Veterans unable to be employed as they are on a very small and fixed income for life. A Veterans Discount provides a resource to ensure Active Duty and Veterans the opportunity to participate in the American Dream their sacrifices have made possible. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier. --Mother Teresa. We left happier than we arrived. I'll be back. For my Customer Rule is: Always visit again a business that has treated you okay AND supports Veterans and Active Duty with a publicly disclosed daily Military and Veterans Discount. I rate 'em 3 stars. According to Yelp ratings' definitions, that's "Ok". "Ok" to me is an acceptable rating of a business that does day in and day out what it is there to do. It's NOT a negative review because doing day in and day out what a business is there to do is NOT easy to do. I added a 4th review star for their having a Military / Veterans Discount as none more cherished in a disabled Veteran's life than those who lighten the burdens from our military Service. Their adherence to laws, that they are dog-friendly and their consideration for disabled people earned 'em the 5th review star because, "A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference." -- Eeyore P.S. Don't message me because in spite of my several complaints to yelp, for years now I am unable to open up any messages in yelp to me :-(

Love that I can park the car right next to the table and keep an eye on the bikes, of course, as long as the parking lot is not packed. The lady working counter was super friendly and patient, wife and I decided to get three flights... so it took us a while to choose what we wanted. It's really cool that they have a bunch of games on a shelf that you can play while you're hanging out. Ambience is definitely pretty sweet, love that the front completely opens up. There is seating inside and outside, and nice clean bathrooms.

It was still pretty crowded which was nice to see, so we grabbed a spot at the bar. The bartender was friendly and quick to serve us. We ordered some draft beers, they had a good selection available. We then ordered the Crab and Artichoke skillet as an appetizer, and the Stuffed Avocado salad and Fish and Chips as our entrees. The skillet came out first but shortly after we received our entrees. That was actually a good thing because they were a good compliment to eat all together. It was more than enough food for 2 people and everything was delicious. The stuffed Avocado salad was interesting and it was delicious. The fish and chips were good, the fish was more of a tender which was actually nice because it wasn't greasy. Not sure I would order it again because there are so many other good options on the menu, but it was good. The artichoke and Crab skillet was excellent as well. We both left satisfied and impressed by the overall quality and service, already planning to go back again when the patio opens because they will let you have dogs which is always a big bonus!
