Quality/Quantity - Now owned or partnered with Parley 6 and Battle Born. Brewery day! I did not know it was Tuesday as we went to Lake Tahoe AleWorX Reno first and they are closed on Tuesdays (and closed Mondays)... Well good for Lead Dog. All my buddies have been inviting me to come on Sundays for their live bands. I hope to visit on a Sunday soon. Since there was no Tahoe AleworX, we decided to go to Fox Brewery after Lead Dog; sadly see other Yelp review... Anyway, we each got the Lead Dog Left for Red which was good, but I think it could have been colder. Nothing a glass of ice can not fix. And now with the Parley's relationship/partnership/merger, we have more beer options! BTW, both beers are also available at Costco. :) Happy hour; $2 off pints. Ambiance - Decent size place. Small shared parking lot, with the winery. But plenty of street parking. Well, today is a Tuesday... Bar, indoor and outdoor seating, also a lounge area. Game area, corn hole, pool table, shuffleboard, etc. Open 7 days a week; see their website as Yelp's hours differ. Service - Always good. Price - $13 + tip. $6 a beer for Happy Hour. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 2016 and all these positive changes. I still have not visited your Lead Dog Sparks location. Is it still there and open to the public?
The hubby and I like to hit up a brewery or two when traveling, so we ended up here for a few hours. We played games, we watched sports, we had some tasters and then a glass each after the tasters. Staff was friendly and the beers were really good. We walked from our hotel, so I can't comment on parking, but I vaguely remember they had their own designated lot. If I remember correctly, they do not allow food inside. There was a man setting up to make paella; they must have dif foods every day. Would totally come back here again.
Great brew pub with lots of choices and a friendly crew. I selected a flight of four (Biggest Little Blonde, Fade To Orange, Chasing Hares, and Paragon Pilsner) and I enjoyed each but Fade To Orange was my favorite. Four wasn't enough so I added a Peanut Butter Stout. That was a fun drink. A very friendly barkeep (?) helped me pick those pours when I told her my likes and dislikes. There was plenty of bar seating, table seating, and a very large parking lot. They had about a dozen different beers in cans for To-Go purchases and I took advantage of that option as I was heading out for the West's Finest Pizza (seriously!) at JJ's Pie Company. Now I have two great Reno finds.

What a fun spot with a clean and artsy vibe. Huge selection of drinks and friendly bartender. I really enjoyed my savage sour and appreciated that it wasn't too sweet. The happy hour is great, $2 off drinks! Also a big seating area and lots of game options available. Looks like it would be a good spot to visit in the summertime when their open their garage doors to the back patio area.
I patronize this place nearly every day, and my experience is always the same. Attentive bartenders, clean bar, and good folks in the bar all the time. Gaven, Chey, Sarah, and V are awesome. If you go in there tell them Nate sent you.
Lead Dog is a massive space with tons of games serving a large selection of beers. We love coming to Lead Dog because there is something for everyone but more importantly, they have shuffleboard, ping pong, darts, pool, and host regular events. You can keep yourself busy at this place for ages. There is plenty of seating here and it's great for large groups. The bathrooms are quite small and it's probably not something that can be remedied, but one stall in the men's bathroom of a brewery can make things tricky when it's busy. Other than the bathroom issue, Lead Dog is a great place to grab a drink and hang. They have cocktails too, but no food so come prepared!
This place has come a long way from the last time I was here in 2019. The building is really well out together with the theme and decor. The main bar is large and has a robust selection of both lead dog and revision beers. A lot of IPAs, but the couple porters were well done and not too heavy. If you're not into beer they have a full cocktail menu and a full bar that can make anything you ask for. When we walked in a group of women ahead of us were asking A LOT of questions and really backed up the one bartender, but he got us going pretty quick with filling out our samplers. They don't serve cooked food in-house so kids are not allowed inside, but there's some picnic tables seating outside the front doors. I think these rules are slightly different when they have a food truck on site, then kids are allowed inside. Great place, great beer. Will be back next time I'm in Reno.

I was stoked to stop by here on my way through Reno last week. The space is great and their stated commitment to local artists was a big draw. The space was wonderful- large and the art was pretty hip. That was it. They were out of the two beers I wanted to try and the bartenders were unfriendly. There weren't many people there, so it's was hard to pick up on whatever kind of vibe they have. That night, it felt boring and standoffish. The beers we had were good, but not standout enough to make up for the lack of personable staff working there. There's a lot of breweries in that areas of town and the next one we went to had more fun beers and a much friendlier bartender.
I tried the chicken sandwich and it was soooo delicious! It was a nice tangy and sweet taste with that fried crispy crunch and pickle you can desire on a chicken sandwich. The event I attended here was a drag brunch hosted by the Twampsons. It was such a good happy vibrant time. I will definitely be back with friends to try the many different drinks and other foods. Shout out to the staff. They were on it! Super nice as well. They were running around filling drinks, clearing dishes and bringing us that yummy food. It is a big space for many people along with the venues that can be accommodated. Nice and chill with plenty of seating.
We were disappointed Louis Basque corner was closing and we couldn't order a picon. We couldn't find our way into the Jesse, Abby's 40 wanted cover charge so we made our way across the street to Lead Dog, we got served right away, and I even new the bartender, Gavin! It was so good to see him! It was the perfect spot to have a couple of drinks and a few laughs before getting into a lyft home after the cosmic baseball. read more
I was here with a group of girlfriends celebrating our friend's birthday and our Mother's day last Saturday for The Twampson's Drag brunch. It was our first time going to a drag show and it was a blast having a Mother's day reunion this way. The entertainers were fun (Maria you're the best) and the drink service could have been a little faster. There were many of us at our table that ordered bottomless mimosas. The rest of our mommy's had tequila and other hard liquors. The food options at the outdoor parking lot were delicious. It did take some time. This parking lot is horribe. I recommend ride share or getting dropped off here so you don't have to leave your car downtown on the streets. This part of 4th street isn't the best area. Shout out to the hubbs for shuttling me. We'll have to come back and have beer on the other side. I love their peanut butter stout and usually have a chilled pack in my fridge in the Summer. My wife and I were going to a show nearby and had some time to kill so we decided to visit a brewery we hadn't been to before. Lead Dog Brewing was the perfect spot! Here is what we liked: - Great vibe inside, including some comfy couches and lots of seating. - There is an area for live music in the back, which was just starting as we were leaving so we didn't get to enjoy that. - Very broad range of beers on tap. - We ordered a flight (4 5-ounce pours) and absolutely loved each of the beers, which isn't always the case at other places. Bottom line: We loved Lead Dog and will definitely go back again! read more

I had the pleasure of getting to play music for the first time at this location with my multiple award winning band in the middle of June (2023) and I had a great time! (www.RickMetz.com) Spacious interior, nice stage, delicious beer (a wide variety), nice selection of liquor, efficient service, but the biggest surprise for me? The food was fantastic... They had their food trailer parked out front for our gig. I'm not sure if it's in permanent residence here or if they take it out and about, but it was a welcome treat. I ordered The Dankster Double IPA. I'm an IPA guy from the word go and this was great! On our first break, we got to eat... I ordered The Hanoi Pig sandwich ($13): [Roast pork belly and pulled pork layed in a warm hoagie roll with char sui BBQ sauce, sriracha slaw, pickled carrot, sesame seeds, jalapeno, cilantro, green onion and crispy rice noodles] A great take on a classic Banh Mi. Unfortunately...depending on your perspective...they were out of the pork belly...BUT, I substituted the Pickle Brined And Battered Chicken Breast from their Wing'n It Chicken Filet Sandwich ($13) and it melded with all the other flavors of the original sandwich perfectly! I considered it a fortunate circumstance... Myself and the rest of the band shared huge orders of amazing Crispy Onion Rings ($7): [a pile of crispy goodness, with our tangy BBQ sauce] (we got some Blue Cheese dressing for those, too...love me some Blue Cheese on my Onion Rings) and perfectly done Lead Dog Seasoned Steak Fries ($6): [hopped seasoned salt with House Sauce and Ketchup on the side]. My other 2 musicians ordered the Lead Dog Cheese Burger ($13): [Two brisket beef patties, crispy onion rings, tangy bbq drizzle, house sauce, cheddar cheese, sweet butter dill pickle chips, Left For Red bacon jam, on a brioche bun] They both loved it... WAY above my expectations...what a pleasant surprise...I'd eat this food anytime, whether I was playing music here or not! The entire menu looks good...I'm going to have to try more of it in the future on return visits...you should take the time to try it, too... read more

Now on our Saturday afternoon, dog friendly, good food and beer tour. Great tasting room and patio. Good selection of their own and Mammoth Brewing beers, ciders and sours with a full bar to compliment. Food truck with a decent menu of pub grub. Four stars as it's not the best beer in town, not the best food but a great dog friendly venue. A lot of games, cornhole, pool, etc.. Wife got the Hanoi Pig - really good!! I had the chicken sandwich - ok. Probably should have gotten the brisket cheeseburger. With two beers and two sandwiches got the onion rings for free, they were great. Additional sauces on the side really good as well. Beer selection fairly standard for Lead Dog. Good beer but if your a connoisseur you'll have wished you went somewhere else, just without your dog. read more

I got the opportunity to try the Lead Dog Brewing location in Reno and I have to say I really, really liked my experience with their beer this time around. Enough to bump my review up to five stars. This time around we had two different beers and one in particular that we immensely enjoyed. The first beer we had was a cold ipa with the name Beyond the Wall. This was a pretty refreshing IPA and I feel like the Cold types often are. Flavor features with this IPA are a clean, spicy, bitter and hoppy characteristics. A solid beer for sure. But our hearts really layed with the pastry stout with the name Churro Please. I don't think I ever have had a pastry stout that I haven't liked and I almost always give five stars from the brewery I have it from because I am so impressed with them but they are usually pretty heavy and rich and I only want them once in a while. The Churro Please was no exception and it was fantastic with flavors of vanilla and cinnamon this stout had a smooth and warming feel to it that is absolutely perfect to cozy up with during the bitter cold snap the country is in right now (near mid January, 2024 is what I am referring to). read more

I love our local Lead Dog Brewery!! It's right in the heart of the Reno Brewery Distric, which has been a very cool addition to Reno. Craft beers bring in a lot of new fun people to our city. Lead Dog on E. 4th St. is one of my favorites too. The coolest ambiance around inside and a very large place to accommodate all of us craft lovers. They make an incredible variety of beers and have so many options to try. Take some to go or enjoy the experience inside Lead Dog Brewing!! Hope you enjoy it all. read more

I also tried the churro stout and it tastes like coffee with your Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal! So good! We tried the food truck and it was great! Here is yet another brewery. It only is a few blocks from some others. Lead Dog is good enough for a visit. A lot of hoppy and IPA which is too common, but these seem to be what hipsters like so they have these here. The brewery is a nice large room with a chill atmosphere and big enough for many to have a good time. I came here with the girl to check it out recently and try some of the local beers. It was the afternoon and they weren't very busy yet so we could get a seat at the bar and get served fast. The place has lots of room inside for big crowds and there's live music sometimes. Of course more people make it hot inside. This place was hot already and they need some better air conditioning there. It only is a few blocks away from some other breweries. There's a lot on 4th Street. Many to choose from around here. The beers are some of the usual kinds. Lots of IPAs, so it's a good place for those who like hoppy. There's also some other styles. I had the Hazelnut Brown. It's $7 for a pint. This is a brown ale, which is nutty and toasty. Lots of the other beers are hoppy ones like IPAs which I get tired of seeing in breweries. They could use more variety but what they do have is all good. Also has a location in Sparks so check out that one if you're closer. It has pretty good beers at both locations. There's food trucks at certain times and on weekends. read more
Absolutely loved this brewery! It's located on 4th street in the heart of the brewery district. This place was beautiful inside with a nice vibe. Very spacious with a huge long bar and tons of seating. Great for big groups! It's even dog friendly! First time here and can't wait to visit again. They even had an area out front with outdoor seating with picnic tables. A taco food truck was also parked out front that day as well! The bartender wasn't too friendly at first, but I guess when she noticed our smiles she quickly changed her attitude so that was appreciated. I fell in love with the stout Lead dog Churro please. Omg it was perfect! Nice and smooth with great flavor. I also enjoyed the wheat beer Fade to Orange. That one was pretty light as well. Next time I want to come back for the peanut butter stout. I read a couple of reviews after I left that it's a good one too! read more

Yes, I have seen them on the patio and sometimes inside. Please make sure they are well behaved though!
Is this brewery kid friendly?
I don't know if it's explicitly forbidden, but from being there several times (and just having been to many a brewery with kids in tow), I would probably not bring my kids there. It's definitely got the more adult vibe.

Only service dogs, unfortunately.

At this point, per Washoe County health code, only service dogs.
I see they have a wheat beer. How hoppy are the other beers?
Our IPA's are on the more "hoppy" side. We offer a selection of other beers to accommodate all tastes.
